out. dana, what do you think of said tree as you see it now? >> dana: stunning. i'm impressed and it is wonderful that fox news is doing this. as you watch fox you can see it. if you're in new york city it is a great, beautiful beacon of hope for the season and fun on "the five." we have some surprises up our sleeves. sandra smith is here for "the faulkner focus." here she is. >> i'll see bill later this afternoon. fox news alert president biden keeping up with tradition and pardoning two turkeys as americans face sky high prices for thanksgiving staples. experts say it could be the most expensive thanksgiving in history. inflation is raging red hot. the meal could cost 20% more than just last year. the farm bureau snapshot puts the price tag for a feast of ten at $64.
8:01 am
shoppers are feeling the squeeze. >> we're thinking about it twice. we might just go -- it might be less expensive to go out. >> eggs went up and butter went up. >> we're scouting around for lower prices. they are so expensive. >> i live alone and i just spent $98 for the week, unbelievable. >> the costs are going up and the president is insisting there is no need to panic. >> as we head into the holidays this week with all the growth in prices and business for goods an services to come down as well. gas prices are down. it will take time to get inflation back to normal levels as we keep our job market strong so we can see setbacks along the way. i don't doubt that. thus far we're in good shape. but we're laser focused on that. >> that was friday at the white house. peter doocy is live at the white house today for us as there is some activity building there behind you, peter. hi. >> they will have the big turkey
8:02 am
pardoning here in 15 minutes, sandra. ahead of that we can look at how much the rest of the turkeys except the two that will be spared are costing. and there is no way to avoid paying significantly more if you are buying the staples for thanksgiving. 16 pound turkey is going for $28.96. up 21% from last year. 14-ounce bag of stuffing mix is $3.88 up $69%. two frozen pie crofts are going for $3.68. it's up. all the arrows are pointing up. president biden keeps insisting that things are coming down. >> president biden: inflation at the grocery store is coming down slightly. prices for things like clothes and television and appliances are going down as well as we head into the holidays. this week with all the growth in prices and business for goods
8:03 am
and services to come down as well. >> there is a bright spot for the chief of staff ron klain. he tweeted as you hit the road for thanksgiving some good news. gas prices are falling in most parts of the country sharply. one in ten pumps are below $2.89. several states are down. most common price is $3.29. republicans remain unconvinced. >> all of these prices are way up and it is because of the spending coming out of washington. in terms of the energy you are talking about, people want affordable energy. the thing that's most disturbing to me is what's happening right now with regard to china and the u.s. china is eating our lunch. >> the two turkeys from north carolina chocolate and chip set to be pardoned won't break the bank. they're getting ready to make a jail break. sandra. >> let us know when all that starts happening at the white house. we'll head back there for that

live as it is going on. peter, thank you. jason chaffetz is joining us now. fox news contributor former republican congressman for utah. great to see you ahead of the thanksgiving holiday. we'll have a festive event at the white house in a few moments. the president continues to take a victory lap on the economy. sort of telling people living through this inflation crisis no big deal. that's not a great feeling when you are living through this. we heard from that woman a moment ago who saw her grocery bills, $98. if you are on a fixed income and prices go up double digits, it can be painful. why does the white house insist we're in such good shape? >> they don't seem to have a solution. that's my biggest concern. president biden can try to paint a face own it and say prices are down. it's because they went sky high. what i guess people need to realize is only government, only government causes inflation
8:05 am
because inflation is created by the printing of all of these dollars that are flushed into the marketplace. senator barrasso is right. it is massive government spending. it won't slow down. it will accelerate and exacerbate the problem. joe biden can try to read the teleprompter and stumble through it but it doesn't give most of us the confidence it will be solved long term. >> i say it every year. you see the average price between $60 and $70 on the meal for ten but a lot of folks say that's for the basic materials to put together a meal on the thanksgiving table. but those costs are up of those basic goods 20% year-over-year. republicans are pledging to fight biden's war on fossil fuels saying it will be a top priority for the newly gop controlled house. a new report from an energy group calling out the biden administration's policy saying

the results of biden's green assault on american energy disastrous. our own sean hannity with his take. >> if the issue of climate is about we want to protect the earth, that's their argument. if that's their goal somebody has to explain to me why it's okay to import oil from russia and try to make a deal with iran to beg opec and beg the saudis for oil when we have more domestic energy resources than any other country on face of the earth? >> this weekend at the u.n. climate conference biden agreed to pay reparations to poor countries for damage apparently caused by the west's fossil fuel use. "wall street journal" editorial board calls it the latest climate shakedown. it will merely serve as another form of global income
8:07 am
redistribution and the biden administration's surrender shows the religion of climate change is progressive penance for the sin of being prosperous. jason, your take. >> it's one of the best written editorials i read in the "wall street journal." it is wonderful. why should americans have to pull money out of their wallets to pay reparations to smaller countries who are supposedly going through this climate crisis because we were prosperous in the united states of america? we have created more prosperity and freedom and liberty than anybody on the face of the planet yet we have to pay smaller countries and john kerry flying around on his private jet saying we have to cut back on the very basics that allow this economic engine to continue forward? look, i believe in all of the above energy, pursuing everything. i want to be as green as we possibly can. but why should we have to suffer as the american people in order
8:08 am
to propel this forward? there is a better, smarter way. all of these are self-inflicted wounds by the democrats, joe biden, kamala harris, john kerry, you go right down the list. they chose these things. these prices do not have to be this high. but they like it. this is their policy from day one of this administration. >> another hot topic heading into the final months of the year here. the gop controlled house has laid out its plans to investigate the president's son, hunter biden, shady business dealings and any potential wrongdoing by the president himself and congresswoman nancy mace says nothing is off the table. >> it is up to us to be a check and balance on the presidentsy and white house and administration. this is one of those avenues to be that check and balance starting this investigation as soon as republicans are in the majority and sworn in in january. the beauty of subpoena is we'll be able to call anyone we want.
8:09 am
i voted if they were protecting the subpoena last year on folks on the oversight committee. anybody is on the table right now. >> what is your take on this? how far should your party go in pressing for these investigations specifically when it comes to the hunter biden probe? >> i think congressman comer laid it out right and that is this is an investigation of joe biden. not only while he was president of the united states but while he was vice president of the united states. and there could be full cooperation from the biden family and there won't be a need for subpoenas. we'll find out really quickly how much democrats believe and the department of justice believes in those subpoenas. when democrats were issuing them they were enforced right away and as trey gowdy likes to say your subpoena is only good enough for your ability to

stabbing deaths of those four university of idaho students more than a week after the gruesome killings. they say they are still not sure how a killer managed to stab four people to death across two floors without waking up their roommates. the father of one of those victims thinks it could take some time to get some answers. >> they are telling us there is so much evidence it will take a lot to time to process it all. this wasn't like a pinpoint crime. this person was sloppy. there is a mess there and they have to go through that point by point and it will take a lot of time. >> dan springer is live in moscow, idaho with the lehtatesn the crime. >> several law enforcement working this homicide. they don't have any suspect identified. they don't even have a person of interest or even a description of their suspect. but we did get some information

8:22 am
a plan for when title 42 officially ends. critics are not so sure and are warning the situation will spiral further out of control when the order is officially lifted. experts are predicting 18,000 illegal crossings per day. texas congresswoman elect monica de la cruz reacted this way. >> border patrol agents have seen no plan at all. what that means is that when it is lifted, it leaves our communities right here on the southern border vulnerable. it leaves all of america vulnerable. >> congressman chip roy also of texas joins us now. thank you for your time, sir, as we look at what is happening and about to happen there. and you realize you have some pretty big questions with the dhs secretary who has insisted the border is secure. now says there is a plan to deal with this influx of migrants after title 42 is lifted. has the administration shared that with border patrol?
8:23 am
that would be an important part of the step here. >> thanks for having me on this morning. i couldn't agree more with my new colleague. glad to have her on board. what we get out of secretary mayorkas is more of the same. he looked at me and lied to me in the house judiciary committee and said we have operational control of the border. it was a lie. last week he looked at my colleagues and dan bishop of north carolina in the homeland security committee saying he has operational control of the border. they do not. they know they do not. with the possible expiration of the title 42 authority because of a leftist judge in d.c. reluctant to put a five week stay in place. you see 80,000 people were turned away in october under title 42. do you know what will happen if title 42 goes away with an administration embracing every policy possible to encourage people to come to the united states? we are going to get 15, 16,

17,000 people a day. you know what that is? more than the entire population of martha's vineyard. that's what we get every day. they will flood in. this administration will continue its existing policies to release people under parole. this administration is using tiny pieces of the code supposed to be exceptions to the security rule to blow the door wide open and encourage people to flood the zone and border patrol agents are suffering. we had another suicide this last week. americans are dying from fentanyl. and migrants are suffering getting put in the sex trafficking trade and 53 migrants died in a tractor trailer in my backyard because of this administration. that's the reality of their policies. they know it and refuse to do anything about it. >> we hear your concern and the urgency in your voice, sir. this is senate majority leader chuck schumer catching a lot of heat for these comments that he made last week about illegal
