get some shopping on. >> carley: this year retailers are under pressure to give deep discounts as inflation takes a big bite out of shopper spending power. >> lawrence: that's right from fox business is live on michigan avenue in chicago to tell us more, grady, what can you tell us? are people out there shopping? >> you know what? a record 166 million americans are expected to shop today. haven't seen too many on michigan avenue just yet but it's sure to fill up a little later in the day. may be people had a little too much turkey yesterday and slept in and have awoken up but they likely will. deloitte says the average shopper will spend $500 between black friday and cyber monday this year that's a 12% increase from last year. but because of inflation your money is not going as far. even though we are spending more, deloitte says the average shopper is buying seven gifts fewer than they did a year ago. that is also why shoppers say finding a good deal is more

important than it has ever been. for certain items today might not be the best time to look for that deal. toys for example, adobe analytics says to wait until tomorrow for the deepest discounts and by the way some of the top toys this christmas according to the national retail federation legos at hot wheels were boys, barbie and lol dolls for girls. i've never heard of lol dolls until today but my producer who has two daughters assures me they are all the rage. even though some of the big retailers started their holiday discounts in october before halloween, there will still be plenty of deals to be had because a lot of the real tailors as lawrence just mentioned they have excess inventory they are trying to get rid of it and offering great de. back to you. >> steve: grady of us interested in lol dolls because i've never heard of them either. apparently they are very affordably priced and i was just looking to see if they actually, ask your producer, if they are

involved. >> lawrence: this is what they do at the white house at least this white house. when things are going good they are responsible but when it goes bad the president really doesn't have direct control or he is not directly involved. we saw this with gas prices. once the gas prices started to tape a little bit the president should be celebrated for that. he did really good and that when the gas prices went back up, actually don't look at me. >> steve: it all depends on what your definition of directly involved is. because she said he is directly involved but i don't want to get into details. i think it may be what she is simply referring to, if the president says yeah, i am not directly involved,... maybe what she presumes to be his involvement is he goes hey what's the deal with that straight? ask somebody. >> carley: that's right. she could say she was referring to by him she meant his people, the administration in general. >> steve: his team. >> carley: this is important why this matters the amount on

the line of this rail strike goes into effect. $1 billion a could hit the u.s. economy $1 billion in the first week alone. >> steve: $2 billion a day. >> carley: 2 billion a day? those reports can be conflicting because we just don't know yet. for the economy. whether it's 2 billion a day or 1 billion per week which i read, that's a huge number. railroads hall 40% of freight each year and when it comes to why the railroad workers are striking the original deal that biden administration helped broker would include a 24% pay increase by 2024, let's ability for workers to take time off when they are hospitalized or attend three routine doctors appointments a year without penalty. it's amazing they didn't have that to begin with, but their sticking point is over paid sick time. >> steve: because they don't have any. >> carley: maybe there will be hope. >> steve: and they can't take it off work to take somebody to

the doctor and they say look, we need that, other people have it and we needed too. congress couldn't step in, michael waltz joined us a little while ago. >> she is trying to distance a president because this deal with the railroad unions is literally about to come off the rails. three of the 12 unions have rejected it but what is so interesting and convenient as before the midterm elections he was taking credit for saving the country's economy in crafting this deal as a dealmaker. he was taking credit then but now that the unions have rejected it, suddenly he has had nothing to do with it. this will be devastating. a billion dollars per day will be lost. this affects the shipment of coal not that the leftward mind that but our drinking water, everything that comes into our ports. we can't function without our great railroad workers. >> lawrence: i'm just curious
5:14 am
when the white house press corps will start holding this administration accountable for the things that they held on the record. they are so overzealous. he tries when it gets called on but then apparently are not allowed to scream questions out in the brig for many more. >> steve: peter has never screamed. >> lawrence: i wonder when there will be a name when they continue to move the goalpost, but joe biden is the union guy he took the amtrak back and forth to delaware. this should be easy step for him and now he is saying that he is not directly involved and as i continue to say karine jean-pierre is still flipping through she is supposed to be the one who is crafty, crafting the message for the white house but she's the binder every day, she is always searching and never prepared. it's unacceptable at this point. >> steve: well he says he is not involved, she says he is involved, lol. which is where we started with the lol dolls. one of my friends sent me this.
5:15 am
you know we thought lol dolls but laugh out loud. it stands for little outrageous littles. they are considered a surprise because they come wrapped in opaque paper so you never know which dolls inside. it's like a collectible. >> lawrence: for example my goddaughter if i buy macro threr christmas they could all be the same that's ridiculous. >> carley: and if that starts december 9th the rail strike you may not get those dolls begin with it's all connected. turning to this know the chesapeake, virginia, community coming together to hold a vigil for the 16-year-old killed in a shooting on a walmart on tuesday night. the 16-year-old who hasn't been publicly identified because he was a minor was the youngest of six victims killed in the rampage. he reportedly had a manifesto on his cell phone and throughout a kill list that had shelved
