mayorkas to resign. former ice director saying don't hold your breath. >> this administration loves him. he is probably the most successful member of this administration. they wanted an open border and campaigned on it and delivered and he is willing to make a lie and make a fool of himself. any time he talks he looks so incompetent but willing to make that sacrifice for the greater good of an open border. i don't think he will resign. >> team fox coverage. sean duffy is on deck. we begin with christina coleman from los angeles this morning. good morning. >> good morning, house minority leader kevin mccarthy says gop lawmakers will consider im preaching mayorkas next year if he doesn't step down over his handling of the burpeder crisis. no break in illegal activity at the border this week. look at this video from yesterday. thanksgiving authorities say texas state troopers and border

agents stopped an 18-year-old from trying to smuggle migrants in mission, texas. they located three migrants in the brush trying to get to houston. you have border agents and state troopers during the holiday working on a never-ending problem. border agents shared this photo out of kingsville, texas. there was a utility truck and men were crammed in the back of it. on tuesday border agents seized nearly 119 pounds of cocaine at a laredo port of entry. you see the photo there. the hard narcotics have a street value of more than $1.5 million. house minority leader kevin mccarthy cited the criminal activity like this when he visited texas with a delegation of house republicans on tuesday, which included republican congressman tony gonzalez. >> it is our best interest to secure this border. this isn't a political stunt.
6:03 am
these are my people living in this hell. guess what? the administration continues to not take our call. i literally have called them every single week to hold this together. >> despite the ongoing humanitarian crisis at the border dhs is defending mayorkas saying he is proud to advance the noble mission of when his department and support its extraordinary workforce. in addition to calling for m may mayorkas to resign he would have hearings at the border to democrats can no longer deny what's happening. >> let's bring in sean duffy, former wisconsin congressman and fox news contributor. sean, i hope you and rachel and the kids had a great thanksgiving. christina just mentioned what minority leader mccarthy had to say about possible hearings. here is what he said on that trip to el paso.
6:04 am
>> after january 3rd, no longer will members have to come down to the border to tour. we'll hold our hearings at the border so that democrats can no longer hide from the crisis they have created. >> what do you think, sean? does that make sense and a good idea? what will it accomplish? >> first off, griff, to the jenkins family happy thanksgiving and i hope you all ate a lot of turkey and pie. kevin mccarthy is right. when members of congress do things they like they have money for a new bridge, a new road, a policy that makes their communities better and show up and do ribbon cuttings. they love the policies and be associated with those policies. you look at an open southern border, democrats are nowhere to be found. they have opened the border, streams of people coming across which you know well because you spend time down there. democrats don't want to draw attention to have a ribbon cutting at the border to show
6:05 am
all the people they've let into our country without vetting or permission. they have excluded from their trips going to the southern border. they don't want americans to see it and that's why you are one of the only reporters at the southern border. you don't see other networks at the southern border as well. kevin mccarthy is doing the right thing by saying if you don't want to come, members of congress and the democrat party, what we'll do is actually move our hearings out of the house and we're going to bring them down to the southern border. if you want to show up for hearings you'll come down and see what south texas and south arizona have been seeing for the last two years of this administration. what a crisis this border is. i think it is smart of the potential speaker mccarthy to make that play and have democrats be confronted with the problem they've created. >> this administration has nothing to see here approach. let's compare octobers. we had an unprecedented record
6:06 am
breaking october fiscal year 22, compared to last year's the highest on record, 164. 21 and 20 you can see how much the numbers are diminishing. i just put out information last week more than 134,000 known got aways, ultimately there is a strong case to be made by many that mayorkas has failed his job. how does this work? you were in congress. can they actually impeach the guy if he won't resign? it doesn't look like he will go anywhere. >> they can impeach him, of course they can. but that happens in the house, impeachment. removal proceedings happen in the senate and you won't get a democrat senate to go along with the removal of mayorkas. it might be present formative. it's important to draw the attention of the american people what's happening at the southern border. unless you are a fox news
6:07 am
watcher, you don't see what is happening at the southern border. if you watch any other networks and cable channels you don't grasp the seriousness of this issue. so the drawing of attention of the american eye to the southern border and other news networks to the southern border will be really beneficial in trying to get the administration to change policy or to change the head of dhs, mayorkas. that's a positive thing. a year ago, griff, those numbers were outrageous. it was a crisis last year and we're 65,000 more in october of this year. you talk about the gotaways. when people come across they are turning themselves in to border patrol and trying to find them. if you are a gotaway there is something in your past or something that you want to do in america that you don't want the border patrol to find you. you have nefarious purposes, a drug smuggler, terrorist, a reason why you don't want to be caught. those are staggering numbers of gotaways.

they want to do us harm. good for kevin mccarthy. >> these numbers will go higher when title 42 goes away. in the last 30 seconds i want to ask you about one thing. elon musk getting a lot of attention tweeting he is teasing that he may give us some insight into the suppression of the hunter biden laptop story from the "new york post" putting out a poll as well that he may indeed get that public so we have some transparency. he says this is necessary to restore the public trust. your thoughts. >> i think this is fantastic. you look at this and go was this really disinformation the "new york post" story on hunter biden or was this russian disinformation or did twitter know it was a straight shot of politics, we're trying to protect joe biden. we want to blunt donald trump and hide this story. i think to release what twitter did will give us insight into
6:09 am
what role the f.b.i. had in pushing twitter but also the decisions of twitter might also come into play what happened at facebook and google. i think the american people have a right to know what the big tech companies were doing to limit the information we had about candidates as we made a decision in 2020. if we can fix what happened in 2020, maybe we can fix what happens in 2024 so we have all the information out there as voters on what the candidates have done and who they are and maybe what bad things they've done with their family to make money off the vice president through their family. >> transparency is the name of the game. thank you for getting up after thanksgiving dinner and joining us today. >> thanks, griff. >> investigators in idaho are working through thanksgiving pouring through the more 100 pieces of evidence they've collected so far and the 150 interviews they have conducted in their desperate search for the person who murdered four
6:10 am
college students. we have dan springer live at the scene in moscow, idaho, with the latest for us this morning. good morning. >> good morning, julie. the father of one of these four victims says he was told by police that there was just one of those four people targeted in that house prior to that killer's rampage but he was not told by police which one. steve goncalves told cnn police were vague when he was told that but they said the killer had a primary target and the other three victims were collateral damage. the murdereder had to go upstairs to the third floor. they were found up there. the only entrances to the house are on the first and second floors. we also know that police have been checking out reports that kaylee may have had a stalker. but so far after a lot of work putting into confirming that, they haven't been able to
6:11 am
confirm it. >> we have heard mention that kaylee stated she may have had a stalker. detectives have been looking into that and unable to corroborate that but we continue to seek tips regarding that report. >> we're told they have followed hundreds of pieces of information about a possible stalker. to no avail. they're still asking for more tips. when i asked police why they would not divulge who the initial target was because it with a generate more tips the captain said it may flood them with too many unhelpful tips and they want to keep that information from getting out. >> first and foremost we have the integrity of the investigation to preserve and we feel like that information is integral to us and how we conduct our investigation. releasing that to be public may or may not flood us with a lot of information that's not relevant or specific to what we're looking at.

6:13 am
>> we're almost half of the stuff we get at the stores, the groceries, the oil and gas comes on rail. the reason this strike is happening is because of inflation. these workers are getting these workers are getting crushed by inflation. all across the country, people are working hard to build a better future. so we're hard at work, helping them achieve financial freedom. we're providing greater access to investing, with low-cost options to help maximize savings. from the plains to the coasts, we help americans invest for their future. and help communities thrive.

are largely either gone or just not worth risking jail time over like in the good old days. for the deals for the most part have been going on for weeks. despite all that, the next few days will still be huge for shopping. nearly 115 million americans are expected to shop between now and monday according to the national retail federation. while sales are expected to grow compared to last year, they are not expected to grow at the same rate as inflation. while shoppers are finding good deals out there, they are typically going to be spending a bit more and heading home with a bit less. >> microwave for 20 bucks and air fryer for 40. i can't beat that. >> i just like being physical and going to the store on shop. i don't like online shopping. >> christmas is already here. it is so fun. >> i paid 306. >> better than online shopping because they can touch it, take it home and not the stress of shipping on top of other things

6:21 am
for the economy. his comments followed the white house press secretary saying the president was directly involved. let's bring in steve moore former economic advisor to president trump. thank you, steve, for talking to us. this is of no surprise, not the first time we have had to hear the president say one thing and then turn around and talk outside the other side of his mouth. not only has the president said that he was behind the pay raises which were 22% for pay raises and also there were bonuses, he is now actually reversing tune completely. the white house, in fact, completely contradicted that statement. let's roll that tape. >> the president is indeed involved directly but i don't want to get into details at this time. he has been in involved. we have said -- i just said the president has been directly involved. he has been in touch. i just said -- i said -- this is the third time i'm saying he has
6:22 am
been directly involved and briefed but directly involved. >> julie: okay. so basically he is involved, he is not involved. let's see, the rail union has rejected the offer. so now that it looks like a strike is looming, i guess this is a convenient time for the president to disassociate himself with this or am i misunderstanding something? >> good to be with you. first of all if this strike happens, let's hope and pray it doesn't happen, it will causal sorts of chaos in terms of our whole supply chain issues. so much of our -- the merchandise that -- when you see the big cargo ships come into the ports, a lot of that -- those containers are then put on rail and transported all over the country as well as the trucks. and so this would be a real blow to the american economy right now. and to some extent it is a reflection of the incompetence
6:23 am
of this administration. how long has this been going on? we've been talking about this on fox for six months. it was supposed to have been resolved a long time ago. pete buttigieg was the one to resolve this and here we are 3 or 4 weeks from christmas and looking at a real problem for american consumers. it is directly related to the inflation problem because these workers haven't had a pay raise for several years. they do deserve a pay raise. but you know when you have 8% inflation, you mentioned the 24% pay raise. they didn't get a raise in the last couple years. this inflation of 8 or 9% continues they keep falling behind, which is the problem with so many workers around the country. >> julie: the rail union is demanding a higher quality of paid time-off especially for sickness. paid time off which would mean vacation time so they don't get enough of that and they want to be paid for sick days, which
6:24 am
obviously we should all get sick days, right? if the parties can't come to terms there could be the strike you just mentioned or other unions would honor that strike and that would mean that worst case scenario congress might step in. the effects to the economy would just be awful. they couldn't be worse. that's a problem the president now does seem to be sort of trying to distance himself from. where do you think this is headed? >> one thing that's kind of suspicious about all this is that the administration was able to get a temporary agreement. wasn't that interesting, julie, it was until right after the election so it wouldn't interfere with the elections. the elections are over and now we have new talks of a potential strike. this would -- if this happens -- again i think there is a decent chance it could be averted at the last minute, you think things are expensive now, julie? wait until we have a rail strike where you can't get the goods and services. will you have empty shelves in a
6:25 am
lot of stores. my advice to christmas shoppers you might want to get out there this weekend and get the stuff while it is still available. then think about our food supply if you have that rail strike. when so much of our food and energy is transported by rail. it is a real potential crisis and i think you have to lay this right at the doorstep of the white house. >> julie: i can't imagine anyone allowing this to happen. with the holiday season and inflation making it impossible for people to get all their christmas presents in time, this would be a disaster. let's hope they figure it out. >> make sure your viewers know you said this but i want to repeat it. congress could intervene here. there is a decades long law with respect to rail because it is so critical to our infrastructure. let's hope it doesn't come to that and get this thing resolved. >> julie: not the best case scenario. thank you very much. appreciate you coming on.

>> anything about the oil price cap talks? >> president biden: yes, it's in play. >> griff: your reaction to the president's words there and assessment as we head into just past the nine-month mark with the war in ukraine yesterday. >> yes. coming off the humiliating defeat that putin has suffered in kherson as his troops had to evacuate and surrender and retreat, here is ukrainians are facing another challenge from the russians. that vladimir putin is trying to freeze them into submission, to create a weak and dysfunctional state, and perhaps, he hopes, get the russians and the ukrainians sitting down at the table where he thinks he might be able to get some sort of submissions or concessions from the ukrainians. so this is a dangerous game that vladimir putin is playing and i think it is up to the west and allies and nato to continue to

6:37 am
this particular price set by some of the western nations. you're right, the idea is to sort of freeze the profit that vladimir putin is getting per barrel out of his oil trade and try and gradually over timelessen further his ability to make war and commit war crimes in ukraine. it is complicated. there is a long way to go, but i think we've started on this adventure here. >> griff: it will be interesting to see if republicans will support it. something you weighed in on it. great insight, my friend. thank you. >> thanks so much, griff. >> julie: before republicans take control of the house in january, democrats are trying hard to pass billions of dollars in new borrowing. plus republicans say they are planning to launch a series of investigations into president biden's links to his son hunter's foreign businesses among other things. what democrats are reportedly

6:44 am
government funding runs out december 16th and spending hawks say the best thing that congress can do before the holidays is keep the budget as is. not increase spending in this new budget because they say it will make inflation worse. the committee for responsible federal budget warning with inflation surging and debt approaching record levels policymakers should avoid worsening the deficit and should pledge to add no new debt for the rest of 2022. policymakers are considering an end of the year fiscal package that would make things much worse. calculating all the current spending wishes on the table the budget the democrats are writing behind closed doors could add 585 billion to the debt in the first year potentially adding as much as 1.5% to already high inflation. democrats who are out of power in the house in the new year think raising the debt ceiling and passing a budget are the two things they can do before republicans take charge. >> i hope they don't play games

with the budget. i hope they don't play games. it just contributes a very complicated climate to any economic issue. i do think we'll get the budget done and think there are some important social things. >> some republicans are pressuring mitch mcconnell to block democrats' new budget before christmas and freeze spending until january when republicans take control of the house so that new federal spending reflects gop priorities, not just democrats'. the heritage foundation urging republicans to do just that saying in modern american history no congress has passed an omnibus appropriations bill during a lame duck session following a shift in power in the house. to do so this year would be a finger in the eye to the millions of americans who voted for new leadership in the house. they have just three weeks, griff, to figure out how to avoid the government shutdown.
6:46 am
>> griff: to spend or not to spend. hillary vaughn breaking it down on capitol hill. >> julie: i think we're doing enough spending. let's bring in nicole malliotakis, thank you for talking to us. as you know, lawmakers are considering a fiscal package that would delay, extend or enact various tax and healthcare provisions, which would cost at least $240 billion in the first year. more than $1.9 trillion over a decade if made permanent. now, not only would this add to the deficit but wouldn't this spending also worsen inflation? >> yeah. among the things that president biden is requesting is more covid funding when you still have roughly a trillion that's gone unspent and we hear reports of $4 hundred billion that have gone just basically disappeared
6:47 am
and been stolen and there needs to be accountability and the department of justice is prosecuting individuals over that. republicans are opposed to increasing spending and so are the american taxpayers. they said inflation was a top issue and took control from nancy pelosi and gave it to republicans because they want to see more fiscal responsibility. quite frankly they know that it's this type of inflationary spending that's increased their heating and electricity and food costs and taken away a month of their earnings. and in addition to that, have just really added so much debt. the only thing that has not gone up as a matter of fact has been your 401k and your retirement savings, because people are seeing the fiscal policy and the damages that it has had across the board. even mortgages have been increased because of democrats' inflationary spending. republicans want to see more fiscal responsibility.
6:48 am
we want to make sure we're paying down our debt and we want to see off sets. if you want to spend money you take it from somewhere. in addition to that we have to stop discretionary spending going to all these programs that don't have authorization. they haven't had it for years. >> julie: i am watching video watching money being printed and i am thinking i'm watching play money. we're just printing money like they do for my kids who play with fake money. but it's real and our money, our tax dollars. democrats are attempting to pass a package with possibly no bipartisan agreement. what would it mean for the u.s. economy? the more you borrow, what happens to the economy come 2023 and what is the gop reaction to the democrats' overspending and borrowing plan. >> it's why we'll fight and it comes down to the senate republicans sticking with us. we only get an extension of the current funding levels until the
6:49 am
new year when republicans take control of the house so we have a seat at the table. we also want to use our leverage, by the way, to push president biden to secure the borders. that's something we can do by having that power of the purse. but the reality is the american people are the ones that suffer when government doesn't control its spending. you are seeing that right now with their increased bills, when it comes to heat, when it comes to electricity and food costs. as i said earlier, it is impacting all sorts of things from your 401k to mortgage rates increasing. americans have had enough and we have to do what is the right thing to do, control spending right now. let's wait until the new year, allow the people that -- that were elected in the new congress to be the ones that have a say on how we spend taxpayer money. >> julie: i will switch gears before i let you go. i have to talk about the investigations looming. republicans have laid out the plan for multiple investigations, one, of course,
6:50 am
having to do with hunter biden among others, the border. once they take control of the house in january. look at this nbc news headlines saying there is a growing shadow campaign to defend joe biden from house republicans. three new war rooms have sprung up in the past two weeks to combat the house republican investigations. each backed by multi-million dollar dark money budgets and some of the best known operatives in the democratic party. the democratic national committee and major outside groups are already retooling to shift from 2022 to 2024. should the white house be nervous? >> it sure sounds to me they are nervous. sounds like they're preparing because they know they have something to hide. unlike the democrats who conducted two sham impeachments, we want to talk about what the american people want us to talk about, which is they want to know the truth.
6:51 am
they want transparency and accountability of how their tax dollars are being spent, and that is what we're going to focus on. everything from the disastrous withdrawal of afghanistan that led to 13 american soldiers being killed. the origins of the covid-19 and taxpayer money that may have been used at that wuhan lab. we want accountability for the relationships. unsavory relationships between hunter biden and foreign entities. that's to start. the abdication of secretary mayorkas's disastrous duty at the border. those are the top things you'll see republicans want to talk about but also what the american people want. i believe we'll follow those fax to where they lead. it is not about just conducting investigations but getting truth and accountability for the american taxpayer. >> julie: i look forward to kevin mccarthy's news conferences at the border he says he may be having.
