restoration of democracy. rachel: you talked to stephen moore earlier, will, and he nearly pell off his chair because -- fell off his chair because he can't believe why we're allowing chevron to drill in venezuela and not our own country. anyway, here's a statement from the treasury department. this action reflects longstanding u.s. policy to provide targeted sanction relief based on concrete steps that alleviate the suffering of the venezuelan people and support the restoration of democracy. so here's the biden administration saying, no, no, no, we're doing this for the good of the venezuelans. we're trying to relieve the suffering they're going through and trying to restore democracy. joey: you know, we have a democracy here. we have a lot of things that are basic freedom and not violating human rights. why can't we be rewarded with drilling here? i'm sorry, like, if that's the process, we can put in our application as the american people to the biden

administration and say, you know, can chevron trail here? because -- drill here? because we're doing a pretty good job with human rights. but vens -- venezuela, maduro, his opponents are jailed. they're considered ineligible for office. these are people that tried to run against him. they torture detainees and their family members, they have extra-judicial executions, just going around killing people. human rights defenders, independent media are harassed. there are arbitrary killings. in other words, whatever they've done to be a little bit closer to being pro-democracy, they're still doing those things, but go ahead and drill, chevron. and this has nothing to do with energy prices. i don't know if you guys know much about livestock, but if you with stand behind a bull, there's a certain smell, and that's where i am on this. rachel: they're also starving their people. here's what stephen moore had to

say about the the administration if easing the sanctions. >> i literally, will, almost fell if out of my chair reading this headline that says we're going to allow chevron to do drilling in venezuela. [laughter] this is the same administration, will, that won't allow us to do drilling here in the united states with. not in texas, not in oklahoma, not in alaska, not in west virginia, but we can pump oil from venezuela. it makes absolutely no sense. it's put america haas are. if you're worried about the environment, why would you want to get oil and gas from venezuela which has some of the dirtiest energy and not prosecute united states? will: yeah. you know, we added it up together, stephen moore and i, in this: what we managed to accomplish is a country that could be energy independent has rising oil and gas prices here at home. in response to that, the biden administration says it's not in response to that, it's because
5:05 am
maduro has decided to talk to some of his political opponents, but we're going to open up more oil and gas in venezuela. meanwhile, europe's mad because the price we're shipping oil and gas to them is too expensive to their liking. they now don't like the price of american oil and gas. it all could be softed by more production here at finish solved by more production here at home. don't forget, it could be cleaner and cheaper right here at home as well. rachel: and we wouldn't be committing these human rights abuses. will: right. rachel: look at what is happening. china owns the mines in africa where we get, you know, all this green energy from, by the way. this is why we're doing this. we're transitioning our country from fossil fuels to, you know, green energy technology. the inputs for that green energy technology come from cobalt among other things for the batteries, the lithium ion batteries, and those mines are
5:06 am
owned by china in the congo and other places in africa where they have 7-year-old little kids mining. i mean, child slave labor on top of the fact that, you know, we're getting our gas and oil now from venezuela, from iran where we have protesters who are asking us not to empower these regimes. every time there are people who are crying out for, you know, their human rights, it seems like the biden administration is never there to help them and is, in fact, helping their oppressors. joey: it becomes a point of moral superiority and convenience. it's an easy thing to use when it supports your argument, and it's an easy thing to ignore when it goes against what they consider to be a higher moral if argument. rachel: it's a scam. the whole green energy thing is a scam. will: meanwhile, here in new york city which has become a symbol for so many cities across the country, with district attorneys like alvin bragg funded by george soros which

makes him, therefore, not independent or unique. chances are if you live in an urban center across the united states of america, you have a district attorney who's also been funded by george soros and, therefore, living under similar policies, policies like this is the cover of new york post this morning, lack of conviction. failed and downgraded felony cases, nothing to bragg about. why is that? take a look at these that it's thetics. -- statistics. felony cases have resulted in convictions down 51%. no, it's 51% of the time he gets convictions compared to 68% in 2019. misdemeanors, 29% in 2019, 53%. and then the final stat on your screen is how often felonies are down graded to misdemeanors. that's a choice at the district attorney's discretion. 5 2% of the time under bragg,

previously 39%. it had never been above 40% before alvin brag was making the decisions in new york city. rachel: and other decisions being made here in new york city that show that the leaders of this city are more interested in the criminals than they are in the victims. here is a new york city bill that is preventing landlords from doing criminal background checks, because, you know, that would not be good. and, of course, here's mayor adams. he says no one should be denied housing because they were once engaged with the criminal justice system, plain and simple. a lot of people just agree with this. you know what? my grandmother wants to know if the person moving in next door to her has a felony criminal record or not. joey: if you own property, you have the right to decide who you engage into a contract with, and i don't understand how it would be constitutional to prevent you from knowing who that person is. what you don't have a right to do is have a criminal record and

whatever happens and then they go out and commit another crime, can you sue the can d.a.? if. will: will no. you have governmental immunity. bureaucrats have immunity from the decisions they make. the only accountability you have is your vote, so remember that. look, we did a story a moment ago about venezuela, you know? we've talked a lot about california. the biggest indictment on any of these places and the policies they have implemented is people voting with their feet. people are fleeing venezuela, and this is a place we've just given a license to pump oil out of. people flee california not for the same reason, but the same choice is being made to vote with your feet. people are voting with their feet to get out of new york city because of the lifestyle created by these types of policies. just to your point, be knowledgeable about where you do move because there's a good chance no matter where you live in the country, there's a district attorney who shares that ideology.

rachel: by the way, speaking of the refugee, the refugees leaving venezuela, that is greatest movement of referee -- refugees in the world. i mean, by a million. and i think it's 7 million who have left venezuela. so this is a massive movement, and you're right, they are moving with their feet. they're coming here, and we're implementing a lot of the policies that they left behind. joey: what's sad about here in california and new york is when people vote with their feet, it leaves a lot of good people who can't afford to do it with no voice left. rachel: that's true. we're going to turn to a few of your headlines. the white sign language interpreter settles his lawsuit with the lion king on broadway after he claims he was fired because of the color of his skin. he joined us earlier this month to explain. >> you insert a different color, if you insert a different race, it is wrong. you are not allowed to fire
