gets underway. i'm dana perino. good morning. we did all right the first hour. >> bill: we're off and running again. takes a little bit to get sea legs under you. turkey was good? turkey trot was good. >> dana: harold ford junior also served ham. i appreciated it very much. i like a ham in addition to. best food i have had on thanksgiving dinner in a long time. >> bill: i like a drumstick. illegal immigration and border crisis might be the last thing on your mind heading home for the holidays and winter vacation for your family but security is telling air marshals to leave fewer undercover sky cops in the air. the head of the air marshal national council calling the move dangerous and reckless. >> i don't think the american people as they go to travel over the holiday season, i think they will all think the air marshals are on board their train -- on
7:01 am
their plane when a good number aren't. >> dana: there was no break in the border crossings. >> there wasn't. a non-stop holiday weekend out here along the u.s./mexico border. in this one sector alone where we are, we have personally witnessed at least ten large groups illegally crossing over into the united states and that's just been in the last 72 hours. again, in just this one spot in and around eagle pass, which is part of the del rio sector. we are talking easily over 1,000 migrants. then as the sun came up this morning, another one about 240 plus in size. mostly cuban, columbian and dominican. resources now spread so thin sources say at least 150 federal air marshals are being temporarily reassigned each month to do three week
7:02 am
deployments and assist agents at the border. dhs brushed it off saying it's nothing new. >> every year since 2006 i believe it is, the department of homeland security has relied on the department of defense to augment its resources to address the challenges at the border. >> now, earlier this month a front tier airlines flight bound for tampa was diverted to atlanta after a passenger had a box cutter on board. aviation safety experts are questioning whether decreasing law enforcement presence on planes especially during the busiest season of all is a smart one. >> kind of shocking to think about that they are taking air marshals out of the sky and high-risk aircraft and putting them on the border to simply do welfare checks of migrants essentially. >> spokesperson for tsa telling fox news that despite the
7:03 am
deployments their important work with transportation security also continues. dana. >> dana: thank you. joining us for more on this tony gonzalez representing a huge area of texas along the southwest border. what do you make of that taking air marshals and putting them on the border? >> it's another failed policy. i wish this administration would sit down with those that live along the border to have a conversation on how we can have better options. right now the people in my district are terrified that title 42 is coming to an end on december 21st. uvalde a few days ago with the six month mark of when the terrible tragedy happen. i had the mayor there call me and say tony, the border patrol let me know on december 21st, i'll get hundreds of migrants dropped into my city. my city is already a powder keg. we haven't healed yet. that has to stop. in el paso migrants are sitting

along the border had to move them into shelters because of the temperatures. livestock is out. i wish the administration would have a conversation with house republicans so we can have real solutions. >> bill: republican solutions, four i found. finish the border wall that probably won't happen. expand title 42, the courts have already decided on and modernize technology. you might get a maybe. overhaul the asylum system. it seems to me like you are one for four on those possibilities. >> you know, bill, it is funny the administration has actually started to finish some of the wall. they've done it quietly for political reasons but they are getting a lot of pressure on their side. you have a lot of -- the senators from arizona that are up in arms both democrats essentially saying something has to give. you've got house democrats along
7:05 am
the texas border that are saying something has to give. house republicans are the only thing standing in the way of this administration continuing down these failed policies. we have to continue to put pressure on them to have real tangible solutions. the number one thing i would recommend is end catch and release. people that don't qualify for asylum need to be sent back to the country of origin. it alleviates stress right away. >> dana: in the washington times today there was an article about how the biden administration is converting them to legal parolees and by changing the definition of the immigrant that came across they can say they solved the problem. if you look at this, call for number two, southwest border encounters 2.-- almost 4 million this year alone. if you change the definition they could maybe say that they have improved the border? >> the biden administration has
7:06 am
tried to play this slight of hand, if you will. i hosted kevin mccarthy a few days ago. during that time we sat down with border patrol agents having a thanksgiving meal and one of the agents when he was frustrated with was these definitions. he goes look, these people are here illegally for whatever reason they're here illegally and they are breaking our laws. we need to enforce the laws on the books. instead of that the biden administration is trying to spin it saying the border is secure. everyone knows it's not. especially those that live along the border. >> bill: thank you for your time. tony gonzalez. we'll see what changes. right now it doesn't look like a lot will. thank you for your time, sir, for coming on today. one thing they will do, they will try to do house republicans is go after secretary mayorkas. they have had a target on him for a while but they haven't had the power. here is kevin mccarthy going
7:07 am
after him in terms of impeachment. >> dana: we don't have it. let's play it. here we go. >> if secretary mayokas does not resign, house republicans will investigate every order, every action, and every failure to determine whether we can begin impeachment inquiry. >> bill: it might get you somewhere. they need to look into the orders and actions and failures for the border. over 2 million people that cross your border. no one in the world does it that way. >> dana: even the mayokas doesn't resign or impeachment isn't successful the one thing you can do and call attention to it and the media will have to cover it. in the last two years bill melugin is down there by himself and all of our reporters are by themselves. >> bill: screaming into an empty

room. the potential freight railroad strike is looming over the holiday season. it might mean a $2 billion shock per day to the economy. it would have a devastating impact on the supply change. james freeman last hour with dana and me. >> this is a question was it a political effort to kick the problem past the mid-terms? here we are. in the most critical time. we have close to 30% of the nation's cargo moving by rail so if you were thinking that supply chain problems were a thing of the past, it may be inflation was moderating, this would do nothing but inflame those problems once again. >> bill: madison who always goes where the news is, is live at the cfx oak point yard in the bronx, good morning, madison. >> good morning. the stakes really could not be higher right now with this rail
7:09 am
strike that would put more pressure on an already incredibly shaky supply chain just ahead of christmas. as we just heard, about 30% of cargo that moves by rail that would be completely shut off and the consequences would be immediate and immense. to replace those rails you would need half a million trucks, which is near impossible right now considering our already existing trucker shortage. the problems jamming up the supply chain after president biden touted successful negotiations that ultimately fell through in september. >> president biden: this agreement is a big win for america. together we have reached an agreement that will keep our critical rail system working and avoid disruptions of our economy. this is a win for tens of thousands of rail workers and for their dignity. >> now months later we are still dealing with the problem. a strike this close to christmas would not impact your holiday toys already on the shelves but
7:10 am
relying on a shipping company like ups that heavily uses rail to get your gifts to loved ones out of state would be a problem. not to mention more importantly for our economy the fuel, food and chemicals that are so necessary, those all travel largely by rail. that would be completely cut off which is why congress is eager for a resolution. >> failure is not an option here. we cannot have our transportation system responsible for 1/3 of our products being transported throughout our country shut down. that's not an option. >> you know, bill, what i'm hearing from those within the supply chain industry is that even though the strike would be set for december 9th, we would start to see companies canceling orders as early as december 1st in anticipation of a potential strike. even if a strike doesn't happen we expect a slowdown. a lot needs to happen in the next two weeks. >> bill: thanks, nice to see you madison in the bronx.

ruling chinese communist party and its leader president xi. that is significant in and of itself. you give the fact since 1989 chinese communist party has really tightened its grip on all aspects of life in china. they literally, bill, wiped out civil society as we would know it. and they have this high-tech surveillance they've imposed on their people. facial recognition being the centerpiece. gillian is right. people on the street protesting here knowing that system exists, this is an act of courage that we're seeing for certain. yes, it has significance. it doesn't mean that president xi is in trouble in the sense of his regime. it does mean the fact that president xi worries about this. it is a fact that the chinese communist party leaders under president xi and his predecessors have always been more concerned about their

with that said gordon chang has a forecast. he said this earlier today. >> the problem for the communist party is that we have seen just mass discontent. and people are linking this to xi's rule itself. this is against xi jinping and the communist party. i think what we'll see within a couple of years is that the party will fail. largely because the chinese people don't want it there anymore. >> bill: i don't know if that last statement is even possible or if it's wishful thinking that the chinese people will not want the party, they will want it to fail within a matter of years. your evaluation of that claim is what? >> well, two things. certainly our audience understands how draconian a lockdown is. it's very different from ours. they can't go on the street whatsoever. they are locked in.
