c4 frustration is about idaho. three weeks to the day after the horrible murders of those for college students there. police have no suspect, no murder weapon, and no motive. hello everyone welcome to "fox news live" i am eric shawn. arthel: hi eric hello everyone i am arthel neville. police are now beginning to rule out people as suspects. the victims families are fuming over conflicting statements and a lack of clear information. the parents of victim kayleigh

38 years. when they started releasing names of people who are cleared, i got a little concerned about that. the police seemed to be and i did read a report regarding that they're trying to control the narrative on social media concerned about people who are assuming who is guilty, who is not, et cetera. that's not the job of the police. the job of the police is to focus on the investigation like a laser beam. but people are going to believe what they want to believe you cannot control these narratives these days. the parents are right. with regard to the evidence, they are certainly doing a lot of work. forensic leviton's, criminal profiling that's what they need to focus on. and then feed the people especially the parents especially, feed them what they need to know without compromising the investigation. now look, i've heard on the news media statement from corners, politicians, police officials and on and on and on. they need one spokesperson to
1:06 pm
get all the information together because the key is confidence in the police. arthel: sure that's why we have you here, steve byrd you have done these types maybe not this exactly type of investigation but you have done investigations out so i'm trying find out two things again, we understand you say they should speak to the family for their so much they can tell the family because they do not want to compromise the investigation. is there something they could have information that could have evidence or eyewitnesses or something some sort of interview that could help them find the suspects, find the killer? and then also wild you are at it i did read you can speak to this as well for me that part of the reason why they are releasing suspects because of social media and threats to people. that is where we are now. so that does change you are right it's not the job of the police. but that is where we live now in this new society where people are threatened and many people act on threats that are posted
1:07 pm
on social media. >> are absolutely right. guess back to my point look at how many people are going to assume who said this who did that it is just uncontrollable. the police need to focus not be distracted but be focused on this investigation. now they can certainly set down the parents and give them everything that they have it. and i support that and i'm sure the parents of a very cooperative and not talk about that. but with regard to the evidence it is clear to me it's clear to me because it basically admitted that they have no solid evidence leading to those suspects. i would never release that. guess who is watching, the killer you're giving the killer a lot of information that he or she does not need to know. so my experience has been essay enough that will certainly be credible but at the same time not compromise the invest investigation. and build public confidence in the police but it's pretty easy to do it's the way we did in the old days.

arthel: isn't unusual there is no murder weapon or suspect three weeks later? >> not unusual with this type of crime it. i'm speaking to some very well experienced homicide detectives. they have told me look there's been many investigations they have been on there were no murder weapons. however what i think is unusual and may be a little bit more involved is a what's unusual is a known blood from the suspect in this type of case. especially when they believe there is a bit of a struggle. they may have information and evidence that will lead them to a suspect. but at this point in time they're not sharing that with a speed that but do not go off on a tangent releasing names of people who are cleared how does that help the investigation? spray for okay did you have question is there's one question burning you right now but i've got to go if there's you could answer that is there one question you would like answered?
