the safety department claims the fbi was coming to warn him at least once a week about a possible hack and leak operation involving hunter. >> i mean, the idea here is to come clean on everything that does happen in the past in order to have public trust for the future. >> i think there will be more smoking guns. because the question is what happened after the election. that's probably the right thing for episode two is what happened after the election. >> it's been business as usual for hunter biden. he spent part of the weekend at camp david then celebrated kennedy center honorees including george clooney and u2 the night before this new york post cover hit newsstands. said lies twitter's based on fbi fib. >> now have become arms of the democratic party, arms of the biden administration but they also used the intel community as well to lie to the american public. >> and now this is relevant

because of the twitter aspect, right? whether or not twitter was right or had a reason to censor this new york times reporting about hunter biden's laptop. in 2020 i asked the president elect if he thought this was russian disinformation. he said it was. in 2021, i asked the then press secretary jen psaki if she thought this was russian disinformation and she said there was a lot of russian disinformation around the time of the election. so this is a story now that goes back about two full years and a new chapter has been opened up by even lon musk. back to you the. >> steve: it has indeed. peter in the past you have been pretty much the lone questioner about hunter biden things and the answer was always russian disinformation. i noticed in the last hour or two the new york times finally came to the party and posted a story about what mr. musk has revealed. do you think in the press room there will be more questions

about how much help did the biden administration -- did the biden campaign get from twitter and what did they know about what was going on at twitter during the campaign? >> i would expect that there would be more questions about that, and i bet that the answer is that they can't talk about campaign stuff because of the hatch act. so i don't know that we're going to learn a lot from here about behind the scenes biden campaign and twitter executive communications. that's probably all going to have to come out from elon musk. >> steve: but i don't know if the hatch act would pertain to an election in the past. >> i just am going with what we hear a lot when the topic of elections or campaigns comes up. >> steve: no, i know. >> so i would expect some of that. >> steve: all right. >> ainsley: thank you. >> steve: we'll be watching. >> as elon musk revealed over the weekend, speaking for two hours on twitter, twitter spaces taking questions from everybody, barry wise is another reporter

that now has access to he says all the twitter files everything from the fast he says eventually wants to make them all public. so if there's something out there to reinforce what he said, we should learn it soon. but elon musk said twitter was acting as an arm of the democratic national committee willing to do what they were asked to do in in-kind contribution so hopefully we get more. >> ainsley: if the dnc and fbi were able to meet with the social media companies before he took over twitter and tell them what might or might not be russian disinformation and they have so much power to decide what you and i read on twitter or on facebook, but yet where was there -- where were their questions when it was the dossier, which was proven to be -- >> exactly. >> ainsley: they were allowed to report that but not on this. there's so much out there so much much tabloid news we read and so much is not true so let us decide what's true or not. >> steve: there are a million

stories out there. clearly the republicans are going to do investigations and we'll find out -- because there is no smoking gun per se. you know, it's not like exhibit a, i've got the document that shows exactly what happened. there isn't any of that. however, they can bring the people in and ask them questions about why did you say this. and it looks like you were favoring one side over the other. shouldn't you have been favoring both? this is one of the things steve scalise was sitting on the couch about 15 minutes ago had to say. they're going to examine twitter, google facebook big time coming up starting january. >> but if they're private companies is there anything anyone can really do? facebook -- now that elon musk owns the company he's going to tell both sides hopefully but facebook, are they -- they're allowed to just say one side right? they're allowed to pick and choose what they put on there. >> steve: but what steve scalise said is the big social media companies get a carve out in the

law to protect them. section 230. what they're going to do is either fine tune it or do something where big tech is held accountable. here's steve. >> we told the big tech companies save your documents, there are things we've been asking them for months, for over years, that they haven't been sharing with us and elon musk hasn't been exposing what happened at twitter, they're not the only ones doing this but the hunter biden laptop story was probably the most high profile that we've seen of many other stories that were suppressed. the problem is when you look internally there were a lot of discussions. there were these ministers of truth and a lot of these tech agencies have them. kind of translation is somebody that wants to suppress conservative speech. so all under the name of truth they were shutting down stories that were true because it might have hurt joe biden's campaign. that's not what they're there for and surely not what they're telling people on the outside and it will get exposed. >> we'll see, the every could

have the new york post this morning, fed lies, biden bombshell, twitter's post ban based on fbi fib says a former executive. so the fbi had the laptop for almost a year, could have deciphered, you said did they did they not? i don't know. could decipher whether it was russian disinformation but were happy to tell twitter and others there's a dump and leak coming so if it does it's russian disinformation you should suppress it. so america's oldest newspaper who did their due diligence with information the fbi had, at the behest of the fbi and other agencies were shut down by twitter, voters don't get to read about it which means they're not factored in when they vote which is the definition of election interference. >> steve: right. and it will be interesting when congress speaks to that person who used to be the head of essentially the top censor at twitter, you know, what exactly all was said, because, according to miranda devine's article

today, the fbi was very vague about something. they said, you know, russia might try something but they did not really connect all of the dots. and as depicted in the columns this morning is the feds are broad and are vague, but obviously that guy at twitter used that as an excuse to censor that story that might have made a different. >> ainsley: all right we'll keep watching that story but this is a story that's fascinating to all of us we hope they catch the killer in idaho. the families of the slain idaho students are still trying to fill in the blanks and it's been three weeks since they were murdered. >> one victim's parents says he thinks the killer may have specifically targeted his daughter and her best friend based on crime scene evidence. >> steve: griff jenkins joins us right now with the very latest. and griff obviously the families know -- the families presumably know more than what we do but that may not be much.

here's his take on walker's chances on election day. watch. >> part of the key has been getting across to republicans that the difference in the senate between a 50/50 power share if walker wins and a 51/49 democratic majority if warnock wins that difference is a lot. traditionally republicans don't vote until election day but i think they're learning the lesson to get out and vote earlier. there have been long lines in both republican areas and democratic areas. i suspect if the election ended today warnock is slightly ahead but i think there's a very real chance that tomorrow there will be a big surge and i think governor kemp will be a big part of that surge. >> steve: the experts say the higher the turnout the better for walker. >> ainsley: yeah you saw walker with senators kennedy and tim scott, stevie wonder was there for a virtual -- or appeared in a virtual fundraiser for warnock and barack obama was there, too. >> pete: yeah, we'll see if republicans have learned how to play catch up on early voting,
