well. and ultimately, and we were speaking to a member of congress yesterday, it sounds like what is at stake now for big tech is section 230 of the federal code which essentially protects the big companies. they are not going to have that protection anymore. apparently work it through congress and come with something that works for 2022, not something from 1994. >> people have wanted section 230 to be addressed for some time. and i think that that's believed to be more of a cure or a fix, a panacea that it will end up being. i can get into that in a second. just on the notion twitter can do whatever it wants as a private company. what we are going to see, alex berenson for example, it's already well-known he was suppressed individually at the request of the white house. and so when the government is actively taking measures and using a private company, then it is an agent effectively of the government. so then it becomes a bright red line first amendment issue.
4:11 am
i do believe that will come out as part of the shadow banning. but, beyond that i think there is also the issue of particular kind of fraud that has been perpetrated here against the american people. at least everybody who is using this service and other services like it. i think that facebook and youtube and the other major platforms, tiktok, for example, have very similar shenanigans going on behind the scenes. they claim to be something that they are not. and that being exposed, whether or not it's actually a first amendment issue as a matter of law is really important issue when it comes to free speech and the principles therein. as for section 230, i know that facebook's mark zuckerberg is saying he will pull all news content off if this goes through. the issue here becomes at some level has to be transparency and understanding with the user as to what expectations are, what the rules of the road are. because if it becomes government determining what these platforms can do specifically, well, then that's just going to be a back

and forth. because the democrats are always going to try to write rules that benefit their side. so, i'm not as hopeful as many others that section 230 provision changes will solve this issue. i don't think it will solve it. i think it will create other issues. it does need to be addressed though. it does need to be updated. and i think what you will see from twitter, by the way, is going to affect the other social media companies because, remember, they suppressed the hunter biden laptop at facebook as well. this has become standard practice once the woke left took over at these places. there was no longer any real holding back. when you have a sitting president of the united states kicked off, i think that shows everybody the extent to which they were willing to push for one side at the expense of the other when it comes to free speech on the most important issues of the day. elections, covid and all the rest of it. i'm really hopeful that elon musk continues with this. and i think it will put pressure on the major platforms that have huge downstream ramifications for what you can expect from the most powerful communication companies in the world.
