>> thank you, pete. first of all, politics should never get in front of national security issues. i was fortunate to be the head of the dea special operations division in the summer of '07 and went to the white house to meet with former president george bush's deputy national security adviser, who basically asked the dea to pursue this really significant post-9/11 threat to the world. a guy named viktor bout. of course the dea has a global operational footprint and we put together a complex sting to go after viktor bout. it was a very successful operation after like seven months, it was like record time to actually indict him on four terrorism charges and to bring him to justice to america. unfortunately we had a setback at first with the lower thai court that ruled against extradition but, pete, i never

watched such great work by american patriots in the white house and throughout the interagency. president obama was newly elected. he started out and secretary state clinton, attorney general holder, all their principles were at this meeting and basically everyone came together because we did not want to see viktor bout get released. fortunately we were successful and he was brought back to face justice. as you said, he was convicted on terrorism counts, very significant terrorism counts. lisa: derek, what i worry about is the precedent that this sets. what does this mean for americans traveling abroad? >> well, for me i would be very concerned, you know, i would highly recommend that people are checking the state department more because putin has just establish add new tool for a corrupt leaders around the world that can hold americans hostage because they know and they will take advantage of the weakness of our policies in america.

we're going soft on criminals, and we're not being supportive of global security issues, and law enforcement is being, you know, put on the side. i mean, i'm very proud of the dea's efforts because dea is an agency to investigate drug trafficking. in this case, we helped the national security counsel and the government and the country to go after this threat who was responsible for the death of thousands of lives, he was fueling brutal wars and conflicts around the world. so it was really successful operation but now to see -- you know what's really ironic, lisa, is joe biden was the vice president so he was fully briefed by all of these folks that we met with in the white house and throughout the department of justice, homeland security, intelligence community, and he should have known what a threat to the world this viktor bout was. will: you were part of the meetings, derek, where the obama and as joe biden vice president administration were talking about the strong warnings and

talking about the threat to the united states that bout represented. i think there's a lot of talk about he armed this gorilla group or that gorilla group and he was terrible across the world, but important to this conversation is but what did he represent to americans? what type of threat did he represent to the united states of america? and the former u.s. attorney for the southern district of new york, he talked about this. this was in 2010 he said, viktor bout allegedly jumped the chance to arm narcoterrorists bent on killing americans with an arsenal military-grade weapons and today successful extradition underscores our commitment to protecting americans on our own soil and throughout the world. historic operation culminating in today's extradition not possible without the ground breaking work of our partners at the dea. it's hard to look back at the warnings and celebration in 2010 and then look forward 12 years, derek, and say those very same people, or at least some of them in joe biden think that's an

appropriate trade for the united states. >> right, exactly. he was one of the elite prosecutors in america that prosecuted some of the most dangerous terrorists in the world. this guy was really excited about selling five tons of explosives, 800 surface to air missiles and 10 million rounds of ammunition, unmanned aircraft and ultra light aircraft with gray fade launchers to go after american -- grenade launchers and proud to say he was fighting america for 10 to 15 years and excited for this deal to be con supporter mated. it's very -- consummated but, will, look at what's going on now in america. everyone is talking about gun control; right? the biden administration is pro gun control. every time there's a shooting, gun control. gun control. now we just released the biggest trafficker i've ever heard of in the world back to russia in the middle of a war where they're killing all these innocent people in the ukraine.

baltimore's atf division joining maryland police in the investigation of five gun store robberies over nine days last month. the thieves caught on camera during several of those crimes between november 19th and november 28th. investigators are now investigating to see if there's a connection between the five robberies. i would think so. and congresswoman alexandria ocasio-cortez, the comrade, calling out arizona senator kyrsten sinema after announcing she'd be leaving the democrat party. cortez said she lays out no vision, no commitment or healthcare. just vibes. for the senate, the people deserve more. just vibes. sinema broke off from the semis yesterday and is now independent and those are your headlines. what does cortez put off? not vibes? lisa: well, nothing. i'd rather just not see it or

hear it but unfortunately. the kyrsten sinema story is interesting and look at democrats 2024 senate map, they're defending 23 of 34 seats i believe, seven in states that president trump won in 2016 and 2020. arizona's one of the states in 2016 so obviously potentially facing a tough reelect and then that also puts additional pressure on people like mansion who's facing a series of opponents as well including potential governor jim justice who said maybe i might run; right? will: people pointed that out in the midterms as dis-apoint-blan- disappointing it was for democrats, it was a difficult map. lisa: hopefully republicans don't screw it up. pete: you can always count on that. she has a pretty independence stance but caucusing with democrats and still a democratic vote ultimately. lisa: good point. pete: one of the biggest

pete: we're back with a fox news alert and part three of the twitter files revealing twitter employees wanted to censor a trump tweet about mail in ballots but couldn't because it was factually accurate and eric holder tweeted about the "deliberately crippled postal

service" was unflagged by yoel roth. a bit of double standard there. bring in charlie kirk who was placed on twitter's do not amplify list. charlie, your name was front and center in the second release of twitter files because we learned that twitter was doing precisely what we thought. what's your big take away from the third release from matt taibbi? >> well, first, the bigger focus i think needs to be on this individual yoel roth. how much power he had in these slack channels just to be able to call balls and strikes over the entire political dialogue online. you know, we talk a lot about the work we do at turning point usa about separation of powers and how one person should not be able to have absolute power over society as lord acton famously said absolute power corrupts absolutely and this boy king that worked for twitter and no one know existed was able to say i don't think millions of people should be able to see this

you've been on the ground in idaho. where does this investigation stand now tomorrow will mark a month? >> look, i think, you know, i've been advocating for the victims and the community to get answers, but just from my experience of following these cases for a long time, there come as period of time where federal resources as well as state resources start to pull out and with this fourth week, it'll be an investigative team on it but not the amount of resources. it may lead you to a cold case. even some of the evidence that's been presented so far that like for example the hyundai, the image they released is a stock image. they're just telling the people, you know, if you've seen this car in the area -- it's not a photo of the actual car that was there on the scene. this community becomes it's so rural they don't even lock their doors there and there's not a camera or a lot of ring doorbells or anything. they've had a lot of problems getting information from the outside of the house. it can be critical to the

investigation. lisa: it's hard to imagine that there wasn't ample dna evidence left behind when we know some of the victims have defensive wounds. what are you hearing about sort of the information gathering and what they've been able to uncover with that in >> yeah, investigators say they're still processing that information. there was so much dna evidence there on the scene. the killer was sloppy. he killed four people so you have a crime scene that was pretty large that they have to really comb through plus you had teenagers coming inside of the house after the crime was commit sod they have to really figure out whose dna is what. plus people in the community have volunteerly or police subpoenaed dna of people to clear the case. they're doing their job to process the information. one thing they can improve on in the investigation is there's been double talk. was it a targeted attack? not a targeted attack? doesn't seem like the da and the police department are on the same page. plus when you have these cases, especially with a lot of

pete: all right, lisa left her home in the sunshine state to cohost with us in the grig id cold of -- fridged cold of new york city and we thought we'd bring the beach to her instead. pete: we got the note bring sweat pants and a coat to go surfing and i text you saying that didn't add up. bete bounces help -- b betty's bouncings helping us out. surfing, dry land, in the cold. what are we doing? >> first thing is you should be in wet suits and not your business suits but we'll give it a try. basic skills, paddle, pop up, and wipeout. you'll be wiping out, i'm sure of it. it can be fun and safe.

would you like a little demo? lisa: yes. >> awesome. may sound overly simple to paddle. watchout. i want to do the fun part which is catching the wave and riding it. first things first, lay on the board, nice and straight with your toes back at the tail and hands under the chest and shoulder area and chest up looking forward, smiling and looking good for the camera. paddle, try to give yourself a bit of a rhythmic paddle and as you feel the wave approaching, hands underneath the shoulders and then pop up, nice and quick and low center of gravity where your chest was and hands out looking forward and getting ready to wipe out. pete: you're doing like a burpee. >> a lot like a purposey. lisa: i overthink it and i've taken surfing lessons and think too much and a bigger issue. we don't have time to do that. we were supposed to do that. >> i can go there if you want.
