into the christmas spirit including this polar bear caught making snow angels at the zoo in salt lake city. polar bear fur repels water and that helps them stay warm in the winter. >> bill: i did not know that. that could be on the news quiz today. >> dana: i'm all in. at least we have the answers. see how the rest of you do. harris faulkner is up next. here she is. >> harris: fox news alert. when humanity overruns a nation's border, is that nation safe and secure? america is about to find out the hard way. so far the white house is not budging on extending the trump border law that protected us in the pandemic and stopped the caravans of illegal immigrants. now tens of thousands of people from 150 countries are massing in mexico to come here on december 21st. i'm harris faulkner and you are in "the faulkner focus."
8:01 am
bracing for impact. title 42 ends soon. fear and dread gripping americans who live in the beautiful towns and cities along the border. in places throughout states where the federal government will continue to send illegals and the drugs flow from the people who are used by the cartels to come into this country with it. fentanyl. u.s. border patrol agents on the front lines are feeling the intense pressure to keep us safe. reports of suicides among our agents. it is all too much. the whole nation feels this along with the illegals. the endless amount of fentanyl smuggled over the border is killing a generation. now bipartisan pressure asking the white house to just show up before december 21st. texas senator john cornyn. >> this is a big flashing green light to anybody and everybody from anywhere around the world. if you can get to our southern border you can probably make your way into the united states.
8:02 am
it is dangerous, and it is chaotic and it is creating a lot of hardship for border communities. >> harris: 2.3 million coming across since fiscal year 2022. about 6500 every single day at this point. and we're only 75 days into the brand-new fiscal year which started on october 1st. already a half million people. that number is expected to skyrocket when, as i mentioned, that trump-era measure title 42 ends. we could see, according to a texas judge and now many in the legal system, 15 to 18,000 people per day. compare that to what president obama's homeland security chief, once considered unacceptable just a few years ago. >> so we are truly in a crisis. there were 4,000 apprehensions.
8:03 am
i know that 1,000 overwhams the system. i can't begin to imagine what 4,000 a day looks like. >> harris: what would 15,000 a day look like? all of this as a background, will it get the attention of the administration? the biden administration reportedly plans to expand its asylum program. humanitarian parole previously geared towards venezuelans would be opened up to include cubans, haitians and nicaraguaians as well. mayokas went to the border this week. he said this about dealing with the end of title 42. the quote. there are a lot of discussions about different ideas and how to address the number of encounters at the border. no decision has been made. six days to go. and they can't make a decision. peter doocy live outside the white house. maybe there is breaking news of
8:04 am
a decision. peter. >> i hate to start off a report saying there is no breaking news about a decision. there just is not. as we look ahead to next week, if it is possible that all these migrants will cross the border and not be immediately expelled, that has got leaders in border states wondering if they are going to get extra federal help if that happens or if they have to foot the bill for this flood of migrants themselves once title 42 ends. >> your on track a week from today to double illegal immigration because title 42 will go away. we'll have 14,000 illegal immigrants a day come across our border, about 100,000 a week. that's unsustainable. >> one idea floated as a replacement by the biden team would be let some migrants fly across the border instead. a program that they could apply for asylum in venezuela, also haiti, cuba, nicaragua and if
8:05 am
approved, just fly. that's according to a report in the "wall street journal" the biden state department responds to like this. the biden administration has always viewed migration as a hemisphereic challenge. that regional challenge is a challenge that goes beyond the scope of just the united states and attempted to address and work on the challenges in that context. we look forward to continuing to do so. here at the white house officials insist they are on top of it. >> as was the case before title 42, and it's going to remain the case after title 42. individuals who don't have a legal basis to remain here will be subject to removal. i think we'll have a little more in terms of details to provide in the coming days. >> remember, the vice president is still in charge of migrations
8:06 am
root causes. we don't know where she is at with the root causes but we can see the effects of this policy right now. the migrants keep coming and potentially in historic numbers next week. >> harris: unfortunately a root cause is waiting for us in six days. a root cause of how we went from 6500 to perhaps north of double or triple that. maybe that will give her some ground to stand on and she can start working on it long after the fact that it was a catastrophe. peter doocy, thank you very much. cassie smutly, executive direct divert america rising pact. marie a harf former state department spokesperson over president biden. one of the things that caught my ear was the report we'll need some federal dollars and federal help in the border communities and you have that request coming. the reporting shows it wasn't an
8:07 am
immediate yes. i remember when they were showing up here from southern states along the border via their governors, new york city's mayor adams asked for federal helped. they got everybody's attention at martha's vineyard and the federal government said no at that time. we'll see if they are consistent. >> how troubling for these state and local officials that they can't get the help from the federal government. you want to talk about being left to your own devices. we know that fox reported in arizona they tried to put up their own barriers in the absence of the federal government doing their job to finish the wall and what happened? what was the response from the federal government? they sued arizona. not only are they not getting help, the federal government is further standing in their way of th love you played the clip from jay johnson. we know there is outrage from democrats.
8:08 am
it is a stark, horrible reality on the ground for so many. where is that outrage now? i want to see republicans and democrats going up to the white house, going to secretary mayokas and saying you have to do something. this is a dereliction of duty. it is unconstitutional what they are doing. >> harris: maria, when you hear a judge say that the situation is untenable and that december 21st is going to be a disaster, and now others both democrats and republicans now joining together, what is your response? >> the biden administration in large part also think that ending title 42 is not good. the reason it's ending is because it was ruled unconstitutional in another court of law. so title 42 is not a long-term solution. the entire system is under strain. the only long-term solution is for congress to do its job and pass something. kevin mccarthy has talked a lot about immigration and about to take over the house if he is
8:09 am
elected speaker. this should be at the top of his priorities, putting forward comprehensive immigration legislation. i do think the biden administration is going to help the border communities. i expect they will announce things in the coming days. there are a lot of them that aren't happy about title 42 ending and they understand the humanitarian and political costs here. >> harris: you are right. you have a couple of democrats, house democrat henry cuellar is one of them, you know, working with republicans to come up with legislation to delay, to extend. so no, title 42 was never meant to be permanent. we were praying we wouldn't permanently be in the covid pandemic. it was put there to stem the tide so we could test and vet people better. we totally understand it is not there forever but in six days from now when people are saying it is going to be a catastrophe you have to have some kind of plan. if you don't, you will need more time. the "wall street journal" laid out some staggering statistics
8:10 am
on illegal fentanyl as part of the humanity coming across the line as we call it when we live along the border, there is fends n -- fentanyl and it is pouring over the border. the number was 20,000 in the year 2000. these maps demonstrate fentanyl's devastation. every state in the republic is feeling this. there are dark spots, the deep red, ohio river valley, appear -- it is affecting everybody. >> when we say every state is a border state that map outlines that because of the fentanyl crisis. it is killing not just our family members and our communities, it is killing whole generations of people.
8:11 am
everyone -- i shouldn't say killing. everyone has been impacted. entire generations are impacted by this. if the border crisis is not the number one priority of the administration, then how about the fentanyl crisis? i take marie's point it should be done in the legislative branch and we've been talking for a decade about immigration reform. i hope something gets done. democrats have had the house, senate and white house and there was no movement. you couldn't even get many to go down to the border let alone the president. so yes, i do believe that hopefully kevin mccarthy will take this up as a top priority. i believe he will. there has to be this consensus that it should be the top priority of everyone right now. this is an american crisis, not just one party or the other. >> harris: the leader of the republicans in the house, the speaker designate was with me a few days ago on set and kevin mccarthy said yes, of course, it is right there what they'll have to do is pass some things in the house and try to get it through the senate.
8:12 am
or dare the senate or president not to see the worthiness of this. we have a president of the united states who in recent days when asked about the border said he had more important things to be concerned about. >> i know that the president and his team understand the crisis at the border. they understand -- >> har lot oid it. >> so do democrats in congress. people like mark kelly who won his close senate race in part because he understands this is a crisis. i do think they'll announce things in the coming days. kirby said all the tools we had before are coming into play. i look forward to republicans actually working with democrats to say what can we get passed. i'm cautiously optimistic congress can do something they
8:13 am
failed to do under democrats and republicans for decades. the crisis is that bad and i think they should. >> harris: if you have the faith in the house getting it done with mccarthy. do what they do when they get to the senate and die? that's what happens when they get to the senate. your team is still in the majority in the senate barely because people are leaving now like sinema. we'll see if she votes with democrats. it will take everybody working together. politicizing it this way and saying it is all -- you have had majority and the white house as cassie pointed out. cassie, last word. >> i think there is broad agreement here this is a crisis. i completely agree i wish we would hear that in no uncertain terms from the president of the united states and not just that it is a crisis that somebody is making a top priority. the american people need to hear that. i hope that democrats who are genuine in their concern about this will appeal to their colleagues who have been sitting on their hands the last two
8:14 am
years and say we really need to get this done. these are our communities that are at stake here. >> harris: even democrats if you go up and just show up at the border you get the bully pulpit. you get the spotlight on the problem. you know that. even though the president may not be able to do things unilaterally and often he can't without an executive order, that's why you go. i'll let you both go. great to see you both. thank you. house republicans say they are going to find out exactly who climate czar john kerry is talking to. they have concerns, radical green groups are affecting policy and a cover-up may be afoot. is that him flying around? he is not green when he transports himself. the president celebrated the latest inflation report. it ticked down a little bit. people are still having pain as they pay high prices for everything. experts are not popping the
8:15 am
champagne. >> fact of the matter is prices are still going up. the only way they know how to fight inflation is by making people poorer. so that's why you take these things with a grain of salt. >> harris: so we have new fox polling showing americans are still feeling the sky high prices. david asman in "focus" next. you know he is passionate about the truth. veteran homeowners: need cash? at newday you can borrow up to 100% of your home's value to pay down high rate credit cards, personal loans, even car loans. veterans get more at newday. so how many vaccines have you given to people? me? about 1000. walgreens...millions. no way can i miss her big debut. with your booster, i think you'll be there. for every twirl. i got a shot so my sister won't get sick. way to go, big bro!

everyday essentials like eggs, flour and milk are going up. the majority of people who say overall nearly 70% of americans are dissatisfied with how things are going. more than 80% say economic conditions are poor or only fair. economic experts say even when it gets better, it still might not be good. >> i would guess that the inflation number will be coming down quite substantially over the next 6 or 7 months because of the last numbers being so high. once that over you have sitting here now, if that number is above 3%, they've got a real long-term problem on inflation and they haven't handled it. >> harris: a new op-ed with cautionary headlines. inflation isn't vanquished yet. another reads, if you listen to
8:22 am
the white house the latest inflation data are cause for celebration. yet nothing could be further from the truth. the inflation is still crushing american families and there is no financial cause for rejoicing. david asman is here, fox business anchor, one of the sunniest people i know and cuts to the truth. why will it take so long to come out of inflation? >> because we've spent so much money. the president -- janet yellen had a piece in the "wall street journal" today saying biden as the economy back on track and made the claim it was a disaster when the biden administration took over january 2021. nation facing some of the darkest days in modern history. when they took over, biden, the economy was growing at 6%. inflation was at 1.4% in the middle of a -- just as we were finally phasing out of the pandemic. that's the other point. they are taking credit for lowering the deficit because it went from 2.8 trillion in 2021
8:23 am
to 1.4 trillion. it went down because all the covid relief plans were expiring and meant to be temporary. the money he is spending is permanent spending. just one example. department of education has gone from $260 billion a year in 2021 to $639 billion. >> harris: what are they paying for? the report card puts our children at a learning gap. >> i think most americans -- another thing going up interest on debt. the debt is growing to over 30 trillion. the interest that you have to pay on the debt has gone from $32 billion to 475 billion. a 35% increase. as interest rates tick up we pay more for that. >> harris: we have to borrow more because we're spending more. this administration can't decide if the pandemic is over or not. at the height of the pandemic we
8:24 am
were still 1.7% under former president trump. they inherited the best possible scenario considering everything. >> we were in the midst of a recovery. they had to sit on it. they decided to spend more money. people have -- inflation has come down a bit. heating oil is up 64%. food up double digits. >> harris: getting ready to tap the oil reserve for heating, too. separate from driving your car. let's pray a disaster doesn't come. and the border. let's not. we'll move to this. house republicans saying that they are looking into climate czar john kerry as a top priority now. the lawmakers have previously voiced concerns claiming kerry is hiding information about having ties to far left environmental groups. which would infect the policy
8:25 am
recommendations and things he does. it would infect that. not affect it, it is an infection. the investigation could shine light on whether these radical groups have been influencing the administration's energy policy. give us an example of the infection of john kerry if he actually hooked up with environmental groups. >> i'm not shocked, shocked at the fact that he is being influenced by radical. he is a radical but the typical example of a hypocritical radical environmentalist flying his private plane all over the world spewing greenhouse gases into the atmosphere and demanding that the united states, the middle class taxpayers pay trillions of dollars in reparations. that is a bribe to third world governments to prevent them from using fossil fuels. one thing i used to cover the third world for 12 years for the
8:26 am
"wall street journal." most of the money that u.s. taxpayers spend on foreign aid in the countries ends in a swiss bank accounts. the governments are generally corrupt. the money doesn't go to the people. if you want to go from being a poor to middle class country, the goal we should all have for these third world countries. >> harris: some of their people stay there and don't try to cross the border illegally. >> you need fossil fuels. we don't have fusion yet and we need to transition. if you are forcing them essentially bribing them to stay off of fossil fuels, that condemns them to be poor for eternity because they need fossil fuels to get into the middle class and a lot of the money will be wasted because it will end up in swiss bank accounts. >> harris: the way you describe john kerry, the honey badger of energy. >> that's right. a lot of people might not get that. >> harris: he doesn't care. >> it is do as i say, not as i
8:27 am
do. president obama was the same way when he kept his heating at 85 degrees when he was used to hawaii weather. >> harris: somebody should tell him he doesn't have an invisible plane. they want answers, republican lawmakers said they'll find out if big tech and the biden administration colluded to censor americans on the platform or any platform. fingers are pointing all over the place. maybe twitter wasn't the only platform doing this. unimaginable crisis and the president seems to be looking the other way. >> this is a big flashing green light to anybody and everybody from anywhere around the world, if you can get to our southern border you can probably make your way into the united states. >> harris: you know i have traveled there in recent weeks, was there right before the brand-new fiscal year. this is a focus on "the faulkner focus." texas senator john cornyn now

>> harris: winter weather alerts right now from wyoming and montana all the way to new england. some areas under blizzard warnings. look at the video. in southern states, oh, that same storm system did this. deadly twisters tearing through homes and hospitals. senior meteorologist janice dean is here now. >> the devastation is really unbelievable. we had close to 200 reports of tornadoes over the last couple of days and three dozen reports
8:35 am
of tornadoes from texas through oklahoma and arkansas, mississippi, alabama and the florida panhandle. on the cold side of the storm is bringing blizzard conditions. you can see where we have a showers and thunderstorms and then we also have ice and ice storm developing for parts of the mid atlantic, up towards the northeast. a multi-fast ited storm. blizzard warnings in effect. the snowy part of the storm is driving down. the winds are causing the ground blizzard and why we have warnings. the northeast, an ice storm warning, one of the most dangerous things you can have. people are urged the stay off the roadways, northeast is getting socked now. the pink on the radar, never a good sign. it is ice on the roads and perhaps on the power lines and that could bring down trees and
8:36 am
cause power outages. interior sections of the mid atlantic and we'll see feet of snow for the northeast. along the coast it will be too warm for snow, a rain event. quite a bit of snow for the mountains. the other big deal will be the travel delays and cancellations. fox weather, our friends over there are working overtime to bring you the latest. devastation from the tornadoes, blizzard and now the northeast getting socked in. we'll keep you up to date. >> harris: thank you very much. two republicans and two democrats have formed a coalition calling on president biden to extend former president trump's measure title 42, which stem the surge of illegal immigrants at the border. they sent the president a letter. in part it says while admittedly imperfect, termination of the title 42 order at this time will
8:37 am
result in a complete loss of operational control. dhs has not outlined a viable plan. this situation is untenable. democratic texas congressman henry cuellar is one of those in the coalition. he represents a border district and signed onto that letter. cuellar is a long-time critic on biden on the issue of illegal immigration. >> who is listening to the men and women in green and blue and the border communities? i've talked to the mayors, landowners, other folks there and nobody is listening -- the administration is not listening to them. it is about time that they pay attention to border communities. >> harris: senator ron johnson, republican of wisconsin serving on the senate homeland security and foreign relations committees. it is so good to have you in "focus" today, senator. you know exactly the national
8:38 am
security problem that will happen and burst in six days. >> harris, yes. let's face it. there are millions of people who want to come to this country. it has to be a controlled process. a number of months ago i did a calculation with what information we had and figured there are 3 million people either encountered, processed and disbursed or come to this country as a known or unknown got away. 17 states have a population less than 3 million. we have to be up to 4 million by now. 22 states have a population less than 4 million people. a humanitarian crisis. this administration's open border policy is facilitating the multi-billion business model some of the most evil people on the planet, sex trafficking, human trafficking, children sold to create family units. title 42 is the only restraint now in a completely open border. when that goes away you will see the flood of illegal immigrants increase in this country. this is a disaster. this administration won't even
8:39 am
admit it is a problem. they call it a challenge. one other point. when they say they inherited a broken system. we pretty well had control of the board are under the previous administration. the previous administration wasn't as efficient as proper sense and disbursing millions of people. that's what they became efficient at. >> harris: that's not true when you talk to the people at the border it breaks my heart because i know how hard they've tried. i know that the -- i call the cartels just a pure ruthless enemy. we can call them terrorists. they are the devil on the planet. they will hit other border porous areas to make our men and women go to help the people who are coming across, some of them drowning down in the del rio sector. it is untrue to say they have not worked up until this point to process all these people. they are outnumbered. >> no, what i'm saying this
8:40 am
administration has gotten efficient at processing and disbursing as opposed to apprehending and sending them back. no, this administration said they inherited a broken system but what they are talking about the previous administration had closed the borders they weren't efficient at processing and disbursing. this is a humanitarian crisis. i get the photos of dead and desiccated animal-chewed bodies of illegal immigrants. this administration is ignoring that. >> harris: the equivalence to a medium to large state of people have come through that open border. 4 million people. how do we absorb that? >> well, it's a real challenge for communities who have to provide services for people. these individuals end up living in the shadows. they are involved in involuntary
8:41 am
servitude, sex trafficking and live in the shadows. it is not a good process for anybody. this administration is turning a blind eye as is most of the major media. >> harris: it is no surprise now that democrats very slowly are starting to, you know, realize that they have to put a voice on this because six days will get here quickly. let's move to this. house oversight republicans are demanding more information from the heads of twitter and facebook now. they are investigating possible collusion between the biden administration and social media companies to censor free speech on their platforms. the point to the new reports that they are pointing out including revelations in the twitter files. the lawmakers gave a december 28th deadline. they want all documents and communications related to effort by government officials the flag online content for twitter and facebook. talk about the urgency now of the deadline.
8:42 am
is this an elon musk thing or have we learned some things we simply cannot live with? >> the twitter files are helpful. the lawsuit initiated by louisiana and missouri's attorney general has been very revealing. what we're seeing is the biden administration officials, colluding with social media giants, to infringe upon our free speech. that should be unconstitutional and illegal and should concern every american. if it only concerns conservatives people on the other side of the aisle are in favor with it because art favors them. the social media giants interfered in our elections to a far greater extent than china or russia. aided and abetted by dem crate elected officials in this administration. >> harris: you lead the subcommittee on investigations and you have a lot of information on that sort of
8:43 am
thing. quickly before i have to let you go. i can hear all the work behind you and you represent so many people. i want to get your take on where we are headed with the spending bill to avoid a government shutdown. >> i'm afraid it's a cooked deal. one of the things i've been pointing out prior to the pandemic federal government in total spent 4.4 trillion. now because of the pandemic we dramatically increased that over three years. president biden said the pandemic is over but we look at a baseline of $6 trillion. we just take a step function up 1.6 trillion by 36% and nobody is asking the questions where is all that money going? how did that become mandatory spending as opposed to what we're debating close to $4 hundred billion over what we were spending before the pandemic for the discretionary account. far more thoughtful consideration but rushed through and we'll get a 1,000 page bill
8:44 am
dropped on our desk sometime next week and people will probably vote to pass it unfortunately. >> harris: they won't be in the majority of the house and squeaky close with not now how manchin or sinema will vote. does it help what you do in the senate moving forward. we'll have to live with the stink on the one that's coming up to keep everything going. senator, it is always great to have you in "focus." thank you very much. >> merry christmas to you and your listeners. >> harris: woke so-called gender inclusive language is the rule under house speaker pelosi. she can't say husband, wife, brother, sister. house republicans have the opportunity to end the insanity. will they do it? transportation chief pete buttigieg, oh, i don't know, was it a lie, a misfire? i don't know but it was caught on tape. he filmed it himself, ooh.
8:47 am
8:48 am
8:50 am
>> harris: they say it's not a lie, it's the cover-up that gets you in trouble. this time maybe it's both. transportation secretary pete buttigieg was on vacation in portugal during critical talks to avoid the national rail strike earlier this year. during that foreign trip he posted a video. it suggested he was actually at an airport in the united states during those rail deal negotiations. you know, talking shop. watch. >> this summer too many flights have been delayed or canceled. today we're launching the airline customer service dashboard. go to our website and compare airline practices in one place. gives americans on what the airlines will provide. >> harris: we won't need a dashboard. a spokesperson for the department now says he was traveling on personal time but remained engaged on urgent issues while away like the baby formula crisis, supply chain
8:51 am
crisis. absent. jimmy failla host of fox across america on fox news radio. >> i don't want to bag too hard. if my vacation photos leaked i would have a big problem. this is the entire democratic ethos. emphasize perception over reality. the perception they're going for. your transportation secretary will stop at nothing to solve the problem. reality. he will stop at a swim-up bar and have a couple of drinks. who is with me? that's what we have happen. >> harris: he could have just said i'm traveling right now on my way for whatever it is. we're not asking him to give us delicious details of his personal life. just a little transparency. >> when we were in such a situation like the rail strike you would like them to be forthright but always the hustle. >> harris: or travel by train.
8:52 am
a new op-ed argues the gop should bring gender back to the house arguing the new majority can do the democrats linguistic vand vandalism. it mandates no gender-inclusive language cannot be used. replacing words father, mother, son, daughter, with neutral versions, parent, child, sibling, etc. >> this infuriates me for real and i want you to understand why. when we degender our language we demonize gender and the importance of it and the importance of gender differences, okay? we're not doing this in the name of tolerance and inclusion. that's what they tell you. we are erasing people. that's not including men and women. that's not celebrating the unique biological characteristics they possess. women can give birth. unique to them and amazing. men can get through a holiday
8:53 am
season without forcing people to watch love actually. it should be celebrated. >> harris: tony has to watch it twice this year. democrats going after congresswoman katie porter for her take on the word pedophile. she said this. >> the groomer narrative is an age-old lie to position lgbtq plus people as a threat. the allegation of groomer and pedophile is alleging that a person is criminal somehow engaged in criminal acts merely because of their identity. their sexual orientation and sexual identity. >> harris: if we call criminals a pedophile we now have offended people out there who are pedophiles? i don't care. you are a pedophile. >> she is a dope. understand certain words carry a stigma because it's part of the
8:54 am
