republicans have lost trust in the willingness of the white house to secure the border amid record illegal crossings. >> the president ought to have his head in a bag. it is clear that he and the members of the administration are perfectly content to have an open border. all president biden needs to do in order to secure the border is go back doing what we were doing. >> dana: bill melugin is live in eagle pass, texas. i'm sure the local community is bracing itself for what's to come, bill. >> they are. good morning. as usual, as soon as the sun came up this morning we started getting mass illegal crossings here. take you live to our fox drone right now. a couple miles away from where i'm standing right now in eagle pass. it is over a group of several hundred who have just crossed illegally standing around waiting for processing and transport by border control. the river where they crossed is

mark, nice to see you. >> a lot can happen between now and the 2024 primaries. the president has said he plans to run and make a normal decision with a few weeks. you have the latest fox news polling, a majority of voters prefer a fresh face. only 33% want the president to run again. the fatigue voters have with the status quo. among registered democratic voters, the president has improved his standing with 63% of democrats telling fox they want him to run again. among those counting on a biden 2024 ticket the long-time democratic establishment. >> i think president biden has done an excellent job as president of the united states. i hope that he does seek re-election. he has been a great president. >> he has done an excellent, excellent job and if he runs i'll support him all the way. >> an associated press report out this week shows younger voters appear to be less

enthused with the democratic party compared to previous mid-term cycles. the trend line for younger voters may be an early indicator of the democrats' challenge to maintain coalition of black people, women, college educated voters, city dwellers and suburbanites. republicans have struggled to win over younger voters in recent elections. in 2024 the gop may try to put forth a younger candidate to contrast a president in his 80s. nearly 60% of registered voters not enthused with a trump 2024 campaign. a lot can happen between now and next year. >> bill: nice to see you, mark meredith in d.c. >> dana: the national archives warning the white house it could soon release hundreds of emails related to hunter biden and burisma. they paid hunter millions of dollars. it dates wack to 2014 when president biden was serving as vice president. the biden administration will not say if it will use executive

suddenly they didn't want anyone in the country to see these documents. >> bill: my guess is they are and we'll be the only ones covering it. a prediction for the new year. >> i won't take you on that bet, bill. >> bill: about the crypto collapse. your headline for sam bankman-fried. his dirty political donations, ftx chief spent big on contributions, recipients have some explaining to do. why don't you explain the point you were making knowing that his group by one way or another gave up to $40 million to the democratic party or candidates over the last cycle of mid-terms. >> this is another one the press isn't really covering. when we look at those sec complaints and the doj prosecution this week essentially what they say is sam bankman-fried moved customer's money out of ftx into almeida using that as a piggy bank for things like political donation. another way of saying he was using money that wasn't his to

>> whose tack take is it? this is something we would like to have done before. whose tactic is this? we would like to have done it much sooner. >> also last night the senate rejected a plan by west virginia democrat joe manchin. it would have expedited energy permits and approved a pipeline important to manchin. kansas republican roger marshall blasted the amendment which manchin wanted tied to the defense bill. >> the final text of this amendment only saw the light of day just a week ago. the amendment has not been the subject of any debate in committee. we have had no hearings, no witnesses and no mark-ups. this is no way to make major changes to complex laws. finally, senator manchin's amendment does nothing to address the problem of never-ending environmental litigation. >> manchin was discouraged that the amendment failed even as the senate approved the defense bill. >> i need to respond to that.

i wasn't intending to do so. i want to clarify it and i hope my friend would listen to my clarification. it is in the bill. either someone maybe had not informed you, sir, but basically that can't be done, what you said. >> manchin was promised a vote on his plan in exchange for supporting the inflation reduction act last summer. manchin originally wanted the amendment attached to a spending bill in september but a coalition of environmentally-concerned democrats teamed up with the gop to reject the amendment. republicans were mad at manchin for supporting the ira. >> thank you, chad. we'll be in contact. >> dana: tiktok. >> china's bio weapons program. mike gallagher will answer what is the link next.

>> dana: a new study incovers how tiktok is targeting teens. states and congress are making moves against the chinese-own app of security concerns. the concerns about tiktok is piling up. what does the white house plan to do? >> good morning, dana. the white house says tiktok is already banned on government devices. but they are not taking a position yet on the legislation that passed through congress. for parents who have teens on tiktok, what their teens may be seeing on the app is disturbing.
7:21 am
researchers with the center for countering digital hate set up new tiktok accounts and set the age to 13 years old. researchers paused briefly on videos about body image, mental health and liked them. what the algorithm is shocking. tiktok recommended suicide content, within eight minutes they served content related to eating disorders. every 39 seconds they recommended videos about body image and mental health to teens. not just parents that are concerned about the safety of the app. government officials have concerns, too. some states have already started banning the app on government devices due to national security concerns. >> it's a very larger step that would take to say you are going to ban it on private platforms and i don't think we're there right now it's a government based upon clear intelligence information. let's see where you need to go from there based upon the

a bill passed in the senate and moving to the house. maybe it comes up in the new congress. it appears that government employees will be banned from using this app. i would say sometime in the year 2023. do you see the government abolishing this app for all users? if so, what do you think the reaction would be when you consider americans age 25 and under close to 2/3 of them are on it. >> i do think we need a broader tiktok ban. i have introduced a bill that would do that and it is a bipartisan bill. i am joined by my democratic colleague in supporting that. and i think the more our colleagues learn about the lack of transparency surrounding tiktok as well as understand the basic ownership structure. tiktok is owned by bytedance and it is controlled by the chinese

communist party. an increasing number of co-sponsors. not just republicans. but also democrats. as for the reaction, no doubt teenagers may be upset if we institute a broader ban. but in many cases they aren't aware at the way in which they are being targeted. given that so many young americans now get their news from tiktok. we have to ask ourselves do weigh want to allow the chinese communist party the ability to basically determine what news we get? basically determine what propaganda we consume? i would submit that's very, very dangerous, which is why we need a broader tiktok ban before it's too late. before they become the most powerful media company in america. >> bill: if you are going to do that then you have to explain your position. and maybe the best place to do it is on tiktok. >> i won't be engaging on tiktok
