fox square. and here we are back in studio with our fake fireplace. feeling cozy. a little too cozy for will and pete, they've been complaining about how hot it is in here. pete: will started the complaints, i agree with him. rachel: it's perfect. [laughter] pete: you also have a heater that you're not using. you could turn the temperature down, you could turn on your -- rachel: this is a sound to it, so i can only do it during commercial breaks. pete: i hope the temperature's warm at your house. is that a real log virtual pyre place or a gas virtual fireplace? will: that one. pete: the one we have downstairs. rachel: there's gas. pete: so it's alled bad all the way around. rachel: there's nothing like a real log on the fire. pete: i agree with you completely. rachel: amazing. all right. well, we are going to move on to something that is not as cozy --

[laughter] as a fireplace. pete: no. i mean, it's actually unbelievable and criminal, what is happening at our southern border. and watching the weekday show, heavy been talking about it each day, and you want to say it feels ree pettive, but it's not when the numbers keep going up and up and up and we're running against this deadline of title 42 ending in just four days. so you would think -- why do i say this? you would think this administration would have a plan for it -- rachel: would care. pete: they haven't shown any evidence that they do care, that they have a plan or that they want anything other than in the. it's sort of foolish to assume that they have a plan, why would they have one now when they have intentionally not had one? but karine joan pier and john -- karine jean-pierre and john kim kirby can be is add -- have been asked the past couple of days what is the plan? >> reporter: why go to a border state and not visit the border?

>> because there are more important things going on. they're going to invest if millions of dollars in a new enterprise. >> what americans should know is that the president has done the work to deal with what we're seeing at the border since day one. >> as karine said, we are making appropriate preparations for that, prayings if, and is you will hear -- expiration, and you will hear more from us, specifically dhs next week about what those preparations are going to be looking like. will: the suggestion is there's going to be some preparation. pete: a secret plan. rachel: we can't tell you what it is. [laughter] it's so secret, we can't tell you -- pete: a last minute, secret plan. will: the numbers are staggering, the number of people that are going to be coming over. i mean, it's already bad. pete: they're just weight on the other side of the border in mexico. all right, it's expired, let's go.

and there'll be no deportations, and there's a very limited amount right now. rachel: the assistant white house press secretary told fox news this: to be clear, the lifting of the title 42 public health order does not mean the border's open. anyone who suggests otherwise is doing the work of the smugglers, spreading misinformation to make a quick buck off of vulnerable migrants. meanwhile, tom homan, former acting i.c.e. director, says the biden administration hasn't done a single thing. >> this year we're going to break another record because this administration is not doing a single thing to slow the flow. the reason they're increasing now is because you have people up on capitol hill talking about amnesty. we get the biggest, the most historic illegal immigration crisis in the history of this nation on our southern border, and you've got with senators and congressmen talking about amnesty. haven't they seen over the last three decades, every time you talk about amnesty and daca,

that brings more. president obama created daca, what happened after this e did concern he did that? hundreds of thousands of children or family groups crossing that border in the next decade. yesterday's uac, yesterday's family group are tomorrow's daca. they've got to stop talking about rewarding illegal behavior, or they're never going to stop this. will: can i go back to the statement -- can abdullah hasan, assistant white house press secretary. to be the clear, the lifting of title 42 does not mean the border is open, and anyone who suggests otherwise is doing the work of smugglers, spreading misinformation. pete: that's it. will: man, so it's just impossible to reiterate and underline the word "misinformation," it might be the most dangerous word in america. pete: i agree with you 100%. will: what he is saying is if you report on the actual, factual on the ground reality of what's happening at the border, you're doing the work of

smugglers. pete: to tie our two main stories together this morning, that's the type of misinformation that could find the way into the hands of suggestions from the government over to twitter or some other social media site to say this disinformation needs to be squashed just like you saw with covid, with the election. once the ruling elites like abdullah that hassan -- decide something is misinformation, the left closes ranks, and then you're told you're crazy or you work for the smugglers. rachel: well, actually -- will: by the way, sorry, rachel, just to play that out, i mean, why wouldn't they, why wouldn't in this case department of homeland security be able to call social media and say bill melugin is spreading misinformation. it's not, and he's helping mexican drug cartels. rachel: the irony of all of this is it is the biden administration that is working with the smugglers, the biden administration is doing the last

leg of the movement of the migrants by, you know, processing them and then giving them money for a bus ride or a, or an airplane ticket to wherever hay go. this is -- and by the way, when the smugglers get their clients, you know, on other side of the border, they literally tell them, listen, don't worry, the american government's going to pay for the last leg. the american government's going to put you on a flight wherever you want to go. so the irony is they're calling it misinformation, but they themselves are the ones working with the smugglers. and her the ones empowering -- and they are the ones empowering the cartels and making hem more powerful than they have ever been in the history of america. right now they are actually destabilizing mexico as we speak. they are more powerful than government itself. pete: yeah. maybe that's why the word gaslighting was the word of 2022. that projection is exactly what this administration does across the board. they look at fox news or bill

melugin or people reporting and say you're the ones helping the smugglers, you're the misinform about thes when all we're doing is pointing a camera at the reality of humanity, a humanitarian crisis created by policies -- will: and reporting numbers. pete: -- and that's exactly where i was going to go next. then you look at the numbers -- rachel: or the images. look at in this. pete: 2021, 2022, and there's a trend line that starts almost the day biden was inaugurated of the flood dates. and then the -- flood gates. the border wall -- we're the crazy people. we're the ones that -- will: how crazy. you are an agent of the mexican drug cartel. pete: dangerous. will: you need to be the silence ared. pete: you're right. maybe i'll just sit here. rachel: by the way, that was the plan. the plan was to open the borders and have no one in the media talk about it. and it wasn't, you know, if it wasn't for fox news and, by the way, if you're not watching fox

news, you probably don't know this is happening. pete: there's been a few small mentions recently, kind of. like a dip the of the toe in the water. you wonder what the motivation is is is for that. they're reporting a few of the increase in numbers in el paso. i don't know, is it to put the blame on biden a little bit and hen give other candidates the opportunity to speak about it? media companies don't do this unless they think it benefits -- rachel: i'll tell you why. as three my grants are coming across and concern as these migrants are coming across, the democrats' response is give us more money. they want to process them more quickly -- pete: so if you raise the alarm bells on it, federal dollars -- rachel: and the solution isn't to close border, the solution is to process them more quickly are, hire for border agents to be babysitters and process -- pete: good point. rachel: now to america's crime crisis. police in los angeles are cracking down after a spree of

follow-home attacks and robberies. scary stuff. will: and in chicago a woman robbed at gunpoint in broad daylight is speaking out about this frightening encounter. pete: plus, rising crime in our nation's capital force a hot spot to close its doors. kevin corke joins us live from washington with the latest. kevin. >> reporter: as you know, no city is immune from the crime crisis. we've seen it play out all over the country, and that's obviously also true right here in the nation's capital where a place by the name of city winery is actually closing its doors in the ivy city neighborhood due to safety the conditions for both the staff and their customers. violent crimes have been on the rise here in washington, d.c. since 2020 with that year notching a nearly 20 the president if in-- 20% increase in murders compared to 2019. by the way, 2021 is saw a 15% increase in murders when compared to 2020's already bloody year.

out west in the southland of california, a task force created by the lapd to address the follow-home robbery crime trend plaguing the region has made an astounding 122 arrests. those arrests, by the way, including 5 for murder, 9 for attempted murder, 88 for robbery and various other charges. and if you thought that was bad, next i'm going to take you to to chicagoland, that's where, as you pointed out, pete, a 70-year-old woman robbed at gunpoint, broad daylight just walking her dog in harold park neighborhood. she's expressing great frustration after this terrifying ordeal. opening up on "america reports." >> people are afraid. i mean, we feel completely defenseless. the city doesn't defend the police. the police can't defend us, and we're not allowed to defend ourselves. so it's kind of a hopeless feeling that nothing's going to

happen to change it. >> reporter: we take you inside the numbers. i mean, it is a tough -- listen, chicago's a tremendous city, a proud history and a helpful future. but the numbers right here that i'm sharing just underscore the desperate need for leadership. robbery, theft, burglarly all up. major crime up 40%, and that's stats provided by the chicago pd. as you know, sometimes they have to be the careful with what they divulge which means crime could even be worse than those numbers. and we talked about the problem many chicago under the city's mayor, lori lightfoot. i just want to share one more stat, and i think this is illustrative. in 2021 homicides rose to their highest numbers in 25 the years, and just last weekend alone we saw another 17 shootings and 20 shooting victims. it is a tough final for a great american city, perhaps time for change. guys? will: thank you, kevin. let's go to some additional headlines. we're going to start with in

[laughter] >> well, i'll tell you what, all of these years at the north pole, all the elves that pick us up when they're flying? you know what? and rudolph, he has a blast when i jump off his back onto the ground, lots of training.

pete: the newly released sixth installment of the twitter files revealing the tech giant held weekly meetings not only with the fbi, but also the dhs,, the oj and the office of the director of national intelligence. journalist matt taibbi describes government ties as a, quote, one big, happy family vibe. ohio congressman brad wenstrup joins us now. congressman, thanks for being here. so here's one of the betweens from matt taibbi as well, then we'll get your general reaction. he said between january 2020 and november of 2022, there were 150 e-mails between the fbi and former twitter officials. and it goes on to describe the

coziness of that relationship. that was between if fbi and former twitter trust and safety chief yoel roth. how concerned are you about the depth of the connection here? >> i'm very concerned because not only is this seemingly extremely inappropriate, it comes across as nefarious, very political and very much with political bias. you know, the trust in our agencies, the fbi and intelligence community, is certainly waning even amongst politicians, and to some degree on the other side of the aisle. you know, i grew up watching a show call requested f -- called fbi where they went out and caught criminals. now it seems like they're more interested in hunting down opinions or even facts they don't seem to like. the aroundly list goes on and on, pete. the inspector general has shown how the fbi abused the fisa court, we saw how the fbi aided and abetted the false russia collusion narrative. we saw when director, acting director mccabe was in charge

when a guy tried to assassinate us at a baseball field, clearly trying to kill republicans, they called it suicide by cop. well, you don't get suicide by cop by trying to shoot down unarmed, non-policeman like steve scalise. we see hem say hunter biden's laptop was misinformation and, clearly, it wasn't, and we know that now. it just goes on and on. and now the we get into the origins of covid, and we can't trust the intelligence community on that because they're stonewalling us, they don't answer our questions, and they are certainly ignoring certain facts. pete: no doubt about that. and if this is just one aspect of what we are allowed to see inside if twitter, likely more than 80 agents if they're working with other social media companies like meta, google. so this is just the tip of the iceberg. a lot more to be the found. thank goodness twitter's talking about the it and hopefully hearings will be held about it. there's another aspect of what you mentioned, covid-19, and the

information suppression there. >> right. pete: house republicans are now alleging not only did it emerge from china and out of a lab, but it was potentially part of a bioweapons program. you speak as someone with authority on this. you're a colonel in the army reserve, iraq war vet. what are the chans that -- chances that this is not just escaped from a lab, but was part of a chinese biological weapons program? >> yeah, you know, not only that, i'm a physician and serve on the intelligence committee, right? what we've come out with so far in our report is just the beginning. the intelligence community said they had broad agreement that this was, covid-19 was not developed as a bioweapon, yet they gave us no level of confidence in that assessment, they didn't tell us who made the assessment, and they didn't give us the basis for their assessment. and that's totally diverging from what an intelligence report should give us. hay don't report on safety issues at the lab. they don't talk about the academy of military medical

science that the chinese have and the fifth institute that's underneath that that works with the wuhan institute of virology. and hay work on coronaviruses and bioweapons. our own state department going back to 2005 has a audiocassetted about how the chinese -- talked about how the chinese want to develop offensive bioweapons. and even in 015 they published a book that talked about human viruses as genetic weapons. you know, we know the capabilities -- capability is there. in 20 the 15 -- 2015, there was a gain of function type of virus created. so why are we doing. this? where is information on why we're giving grants to nih which sent funds to ecohealth alliance doing work in china's labs? pete: we conclude -- may have been tied to china's biological research program and spilled oaf to the human population during a lab-related incident. yet the intelligence agencies

down the eastern seaboard. >> yeah. we left maine last saturday morning, we've been on the road. we stopped at schools, vfw halls, american legions just spreading the message. we brought down 28 gold star family members, a lot 40 of veterans just hooking people up with stories of character and courage as we make our way to a wreath-laying event. we're a 501(c)(3), and we're actually at 3700 locations. we're in every state, and we'll be placing 2,706,000 wreaths today, saying the names of that many heroes and, you know, it's just a wonderful way for people to get in ouch with their history and heritage -- in touch and teach their children. will: oh, it is, karen. it's a wonderful thing you guys are doing. what's the reaction been like in the country, on the roadways as you guys have done this? >> i will tell you from the if

time we left maine in 18-degree weather all the way here, we have seen thousands, thousands of kids standing on the side of the road with their flags shouting usa and healing the hearts of these gold star families as we make our way here. it's all about teaching kids to love the country, to realize that as adults the history we can tell through these stories will make the path for the kids in the future, our future depends on what we teach these children about america, how it came to be and the cost of freedom. will that's really great. do i have right, 1992, that's when it started? you were at a section of the cemetery that wasn't getting much visitation, and that inspired your cause? >> well, we ended up, as a family,ing we ended up with some surplus wreaths back in 1992. my husband thought it'd be a great way to teach our own children. he'd been here as a paper boy when he was 12, and we got permission. we started coming in 1992.

rachel: welcome back to fox and friends. the biden administration if claiming that they are prepared for the end of title 42 in just four days, but with an estimated 14,000 migrants expected to cross the border once it's repealed, 40 -- how do everyday texans feel? joining us now is former mayor of del rio, texas, a resident and u.s. congressional candidate

and retired border patrol agent and army veteran frank lopez jr. finish so the white house is saying that they're prepared for this onslaught that they see coming next week. bruno, you were the mayor of that a area there in del rio. how reassured do you feel about the so-called preparations that somehow they won't share with us? >> i, i just trach a look at what a's been happening on the border this entire time. you see about 1700 people crossing a day, and once this title is lifted, i anticipate that more people will be more emboldened to just continue to cross unlawfully and illegally. so i highly doubt that the administration is fully prepared to take on the influx of additional migrants. rachel: really quickly, bruno, what do you expect to happen in the city of del rio? >> well, i hope not a repeat of what happened in september 2021 while i was still in office just because that completely

inundated the system and the community, but i do anticipate that we'll have pockets of people crossing in the hundreds, if not thousands just like we saw in el paso recently. rachel: yeah. what about you? you live about 5 minutes from the border, what do you expect to happen next week many -- week? >> well, i expect a major surge. and i'll tell you, this biden administration, hay don't care about the border townspeople. they don't care about the border towns. they are just having us deal with it. our city officials. we don't have enough police, they don't have enough dps, enough guardsmen. can you imagine what they're going to do? we're going on the to be inundated by all oaz of these people because the biden administration has refused to do anything about it. instead they have encouraged it. and by lifting title 42 when it comes to december 21st, just imagine what's going to happen

to us. rachel: yeah. >> i mean, we're already stressed out as it is with our office and all of these people who are going to be the coming because they know that they can. rachel: frank, you were in the border patrol for 30 years. tell me, and i know you're the still in contact with a lot of, you know, people mt. border patrol right now. what is the morale right now? what are they expecting to happen? how are they preparing for what might happen next week? >> yeah. you know, in a word, lifeless. what i i mean by that, there's no joy, there's no sense of purpose for these guys to go out and do their work. what they're doing now is just, as we know, processing. but, you know, to -- and, of course, they're demoralized. we've had a high suicide rate within the border patrol. it's unheard of. but as far as being prepared, look, i think that the biden administration's going to be overwhelmed, rachel. they are prepared to a certain persistent tent. what i mean by that -- extent. they have been using our federal

tax dollars to lay the infrastructure for this massive influx. they have been setting up processing centers, they have been setting up contracts with ngos, contracts with bus companies to move these people away from the if border to the interior of the country. now we're getting word that these ngos are operating outside the company, they are forward deployed to open up the pipeline even bigger. we are empowering the cartels, we're fueling the drug problem here in america, and these people that are coming into our country, you know, we'll probably have some good ones i guess as far as moral people i guess you should say, aside from the fact that they're breaking the law, but we don't know who they really are. and is so the biden administration is opening up a pandora's box here on the border by not using title 42 which he were using honestly to a minimal extent. and so it is a facade. they want to happen. they have orchestrated this. rachel: yeah. i'm really glad you brought up
