lucas tomlinson alive at the white house nor with more on that. lucas what more can you tell us? >> white house also insist president biden has called on the work on the southern border despite encounters with over 2 million migrants in the southern border in the past year. now a federal appeals court here in washington last night ruled title 42 would not be extended. it supposed to expire on wednesday. the white house responding to that court decision in a statement saying quote to be clear, the lifting of title 42 public health order does not mean the border is open. we have a robust effort underway to manage the border in a safe, orderly, and humane way. instead of playing political games, republican officials should provide the funding the president requested for border security management. norming democrats acknowledge it's not working. cumbersome henry cuellar borders the large swath of texas border mexico contradicted the white house and called the border open not close.

professor of medicine. dr. kagan let's bring up the chart from the cdc. this shows that we are talking about in terms of the flu season. that line on the far left is a yellow bird that is this season you can see a peak way earlier compared to the last decade of flu seasons. what do you make of what we are seeing in the data dr. siegel? just because it peaks it looks like cases are coming down for does this mean we're out of the woods earlier what you think? >> you know, historically bryant both have been tripping some years it peaks early we are out of the woods earlier. other years it stays with us. over the last two weeks we are still seeing over 30,000 new cases of flu. i am not convinced we are out of the woods yet prevent over 150,000 hospitalizations of flu. most of the elderly some the very young. here is why because we were not exposed to flu the last couple of years and now our immune systems are suddenly sing it

again. we are seeing a pretty severe flu. look, the good news is it's flu shot actually matches it well this year. i would encourage our vendors not have the flu shot yet to absently get it. we are not out of the woods yet this is extremely early. to give you an idea flu season usually peaks of the end of january. now, one more bit of good news is rsv which we've been talking about a lot in our young children was definitely dropping for the number of cases is one half over the past week what it was the prior week. that is good news but again we can with respiratory viruses including covid. the one i'm most keeping my eye on right now is still flu plus rsv and a little bit of an uptick in covid especially the elderly. >> of how the numbers spike across the board for all three illnesses after families got together thanks giving way. families are already in some instances together now for the holidays. what is your advice how people can keep themselves safe? >> brent also with the advice you would give.

do not go out if you are sick. people are going everywhere coughing. i just got off the plane was a guy coughing for nine hours i've finally asked him to put on a mass that's not going to help that much. masks help a little if you have the flu vaccine that helps against flu if you are in a high-risk group having a covid booster makes sense especially if you've not had covid recently or not it any other shots. all this is common sense. especially staying home if you are sick. and another thing if you're going to go to a gathering of high-risk people there which a lot of people are, you think you might have been exposed to coveted or you might have a significant take a rapid test the same with the flow we have rapid flu tests. those are things i think are proper precautions. the government mandates are the problem. they have caused a lot of fatigue and people are skeptical. i do not like the mandates at all but like the recommendations. >> dock is this the new normal
