a major winter storm during this week threatening to bring dangerous travel conditions to huge spots of the country's millions of americans prepared at the roads and skies for the christmas and hanukkah holidays but welcome to bring our "fox news live" i am arthel neville. hi griff. >> hi i am griff jenkins i am in for eric shawn but if you aren't living or traveling around the eastern third of the country, plate close attention forecasters warned heavy snow and strong winds are likely
1:01 pm
coming your way. there's still a lot of uncertainty about the storm let's go straight to the fox weather center meteorologist is alive with the full forecast, michael what are we in for? >> griffin arthel this is not just the headache on the system this is a full on migraine if you are doing any traveling thursday, friday, and saturday. especially in parts of the midwest. a quick little timeline on this, shoving you by the time we get to thursday and friday of our friends and family in chicago, detroit, cleveland down toward st. louis as well, and for a ton of snow and a ton of wind as well. that when going to be capable of producing near blizzard like conditions. we are talking a wind gust 50 -- 60 miles per hour. on top of all of that a major winter storm is what we are anticipating. full too soon to put specific numbers on it in terms of amount. but we can tell if you're going to be traveling from say chicago

1:03 pm
mile-per-hour wind gusts is what we are anticipating by the time i get to saturday, christmas eve. it is going to be a really, really intense winter storm that we see brewing in parts of our nations midwest section. a lot to keep our eyes on here in the fox weather center. griff: old man, michael, timing of the storm is no good. people better bring their patients boxed meteorologist jan h. thank you very much. vice president aaa will join us on how you can navigate the holiday travel crunch and these possible storms, arthel. arthel: not only your patients, griff, you've got to bring in asser because michael says it's going to be a full on migraine, the travel but meanwhile there is this part ftx founder sam bankman fried do in court in the bahamas he will reportedly stop fighting extradition to the u.s. where he is facing fraud and money lawn laundering charges.

1:06 pm
arthel: all right jonathan thank you very much. griff: the collapse isn't prompting growing calls for congress to regulate the digital marketplace. watch. >> this is a complicated unregulated pot of money. it has been in so many ways. sam bankman fried was worth $30 billion and now he's worth probably less than zero and it very well may face a jail time. ftx is not the whole issue. griff: joining is now wall street associate editor fox news contributor, john let's jump in right into this idea of regulation. what would that even look like? how likely is it washington even has the will to jump in and do this? >> i think washington has the will to do this because you are
1:07 pm
seeing a lot more households affected by this than in the past. you now have roughly 13% of households having dipped into the crypto currency markets over the last several years that's up for about 3% before 2020, that is a lot of people. a lot of people have really taken it in their bank accounts, not just with the collapse of ftx but other intermediary financial institutions that have also declared bankruptcy. bitcoin is down 75% it is been a roller coaster over the last several years, way up and then away down and then back up and then back down. and so you are going to see an increasing number of people who have taken it in the neck saying where are the fundamental regulatory processes by which this new financial market can be regulated. so that i as a consumer have a fighting chance of making in the

market that's going to be properly treated. griff: you really hit the nail on the head you talk about bitcoin. we can show you we got the plummeting we have seen it is down as you said some 70% print we can show here generally first, 47000 today 16000. in this chart down 65%. so my question is, if indeed regulation with congress authorized regulation given to the sec and the other regulators, could this industry even survive that kind of scrutiny? >> oh well, i think of regulatory agencies were to begin to oversee this particular market you might find quite to the reverse, it flourishes and that consumers begin to think okay, it's in now of a more legitimate environments but is not a casino it is not unregulated.
1:09 pm
bankman fried the charges against him are basically embezzlement using a research outfit that he had to front run trades. these are all things that used to be done on wall street. i member insider trading on wall street before there's a crackdown on insider trading. the average consumer says okay, if the regulators are cracking down the big guys cheating then i can enter this market with a bit more confidence that i am going to be able to trade it legitimately but this is something the wall street journal j clayton the former head of the sec and timothy the former head of the commodities futures trading commission had a piece in the journal recent said look, people said it cannot be regulated it's meant to be this crypto currency that is global and not located to a particular country. it is meant to transcend regulation. it is kind of nonsense. they say in the article in the
1:10 pm
journal there are basic consumer protections that all of us want to have pretty lengthy rule of law. we want people to stop at stop lights. we want there to be rules our financial markets markets to make it safe to trade. griff: bottom line in the time we have left here is that possible that bankman fried although it looks like a knot of people are not going to get their money back. but in the larger things bankman fried was the thing that set off a profitable future crypto currency market. >> so, it was bound to be something, right? if not this particular company than his series of other companies that have run into trouble. the fact that consumers have made a lot of money and they've lost a lot of money in this market. it appears to be a casino and there does not -- make you do not have the confidence you would as an investor walking into this market that over time
1:11 pm
the following is going to happen you just do not know it's going to happen and you do not know what the players are you do not know who is front running your trade. so it was bound to be some company a failure of a company or the loss of confidence by consumers in general that was going to be bringing in regulators and the size of it is gotten bigger and bigger and at a certain point it becomes an major market regulators are simply going to pay more attention too. >> is a fencing sword to watch no one with more insight than you, john bussey thank you very much happy holidays progress my plates are you two. arthel: fox news get exclusive look at newly disclosed surveillance video showing what appears to be two of the murdered idaho college students walking around downtown moscow. just hours before they were killed in their off-campus home. matt is alive in moscow, idaho with the very latest, matt.

1:22 pm
we have sent letters, we have had phone calls, again we sent another letter last week requesting, asking, demanding at nausea him to meet with the president about this crisis that we have at the border. but again it falls on deaf ears. what i find so hypocritical is the president does not think there's a crisis at the border. yet, you heard the numbers of 5000, 8000, when title 42 goes away that does not count the financials going across a border as well. yet we bus 150 people up to a democratic city it breaks loose of got the call the national guard. we have thousands crossing our border and thousands were the fentanyl coming across our border. we cannot even get a sitdown with the president?
