flights have been cancelled yesterday, the storm will move east today with the coast preparing for flooding. adam klotz joins us with the latest. >> you said it, this is a big, powerful storm and it is picking up today and tomorrow. we're seeing heavy snow currently falling across the plains and stretching to the upper midwest before drifting off toward the east. there are winter weather advisories and warnings across the region. the orange and blizzard warnings, winds 50 to 60 miles per hour. with wind and cold temperatures, you get the feels-like temperature and frigid across the country. i have seen negative 50s in the northern plains and this will settle further across the

country. we see widespread wind chill advisoryings from the mexico border toward the east coast. hundreds of millions of folks under wind chill advisory and going through today and tomorrow morning. you are talking about places in north texas feeling like negative 5 to 10 degrees and same thing negative 33 in chicago, negative 2 in atlanta, places they do not see cold air will wake up with cold temperatures. coldest spots, negative 50, in the pink, if you stand outside for five minutes, you could catch frost bite. this is cold air folks 8 be dealing with for the next couple mornings. >> ashley: it is how cold and that wind. >> right, six inches of snow, but 50 mile per hour wind will make driving dangerous.

investigators, do you think that is the route they should go and do you think private investigators can go around red tape and get answers sooner? >> well, yes, good morning. there was a lot of talk at the beginning when this crime happened about hiring a private investigator and raising money for one. i think bringing a private investigator would be a good thing, there are a lot of witnesses that rather talk to somebody other than law enforcement and may create new information. i really believe hiring a private investigator, bringing somebody like me in, we might get answers. i have investigators highly trained in homicide investigation, so it is not a hamper to the case whatsoever, but would allow us to get new information to pass on to law enforcement and hopefully

resolve this case. >> ashley: we are almost to the-week mark. from your perspective, how do you think law enforcement has handled this case so far? is there anything you would have done differently? >> no, i don't think i would have done anything different. this was a tragic crime scene and a lot of work has to be done on the crime scene and outside and as you are well aware of, they tried to find a vehicle, a hyundai, there are 22,000 hyundais in that area they are trying to expose and i understand last week they found a hyundai in oregon that may or may not have been the vehicle they were looking for and i think they said it was not the vehicle they were looking for. the other problem now that they are having is weather is hampering the area and trying to

find vehicles and additionasm information and other cameras they haven't exposed yet. i think bringing a private investigator in would be a good tool and the family talked about this when this happened and hope hopefully something will transpire soon so this does not turn into a cold case. >> ashley: right, and i feel like we are getting to that point, do you think this will go cold based on what we're seeing right now? >> i think -- i don't think -- i think law enforcement is doing a great job, i understand the fbi is bringing in several agents to help with the case and finetune and look at the evidence and move forward. this, again, is a very complex case and not only just crime scene, trying to find somebody that may know something and be

unders understatement. the problem is so acute the city is opening convention center to house hundreds and upon practices thousands of migrants as a blast of arctic weather dips close to the border land and local residentses say migrants are showing up at their front doors. he has a fire pit, they jump over and sit there and huddle and the scary thing is, well, you can see there, there is a lot of people behind there, you don't know. that is really scary stuff, if you think about it. things are so awful that democrats on capitol hill are beginning to distance themselves from the administration border strategy. possible plan to divert migrants along the rio grand valley, democrats should implement a

shot there? >> yes, absolutely, a gap that we've asked to be closed several times, the governor installed containers and yesterday reached agreement with the biden administration that containers would be removed in exchange for the wall being completed, that does not address the gap in this area. >> is governor doocy gaining traction? do you feel he's making progress in getting this administration to do something or will we see the same thing in terms of border enforcement over two years, which is nothing? >> i think this is an absolute win for doocy, in the fact the gaps were in direct proximity to the city of yuma and now we have to address this gap specifically right here where we continue to see surge of migrantses, many

private organizations to censors speech, if you looked 59 their statement, it says in their opinion, okay, they worded that very carefully. what we need to make sure is that the government is not going through things, helping twitter, facebook, or anybody else hold fast to what they should or not on their platforms. that's not the roam of fbi it look at free speech. that's what has happened. i look forward to a chairman comer dig into these issues and make sure that the commitment to america, which is the freedoms and also the accountability and restoring faith in our institutions. >> ashley: how are we going to get that countability because as you said in opinion how do they know they are not going to keep saying that when comber does bring them in? >> i think the fact you bring them in and have the subpoena power to do that and question them, they have got to be honest. here is where we have thoughtful feel on the committee starting with chairman comer that are going to be able to ask the

questions to make sure they get an answer out of it. or, you know, they can't come and lie to congress. and i think that they are going to be able to ask the questions that need to be asked and not allow them to do their word sniping on these important issues. >> griff: changing topics, congressman, the clock is ticking to the end of the day tomorrow to it did i verdict a shutdown. republicans tried to add protections to keep title 42 in place. where do we stand? >> well, i think there's still a lot of disagreement. and, this bill should not be passed. i mean, we are hurrying to get this done it. should take place as leader mccarthy has made the point of going to next year so the will of the voters that spoke in november can be heard. and they are looking at funding more money into the irs. looking at putting money for shelters, rather than fixing our border and stopping the fentanyl from coming across our border, they're looking at putting money into shelters for people that are coming across our border

illegally. and then they are also looking at green energy. they are not looking at the things to make our economy strong and make sure that our nation is safe. that's what we need to be looking at. i'm voting no on this bill that they have out here it. didn't go through the regular -- not everybody's representative or state senator had the input that should be on this bill. 1.8 trillion after we have done an inflation reduction act, congress has. i voted no on that, also. also a inflation reduction act all it has done is fuel inflation and we need to make sure that there is accountability. i think the best way to do that would be a short-term cr to make sure that leader mccarthy can have the input that's necessary to make sure that the americans aren't spending money on things to have irs agencies pawing through their finances and trying to get into their personal items. >> ashley: don't forget that bill has $410 million in border security for other countries
