6:00 pm
>> tucker: we're out of time. good news, tammy bruce is driving the hannity train this evening. we'll go to her this evening. hi, tammy. >> thank you, tucker. merry christmas, sir. thank you, everyone. welcome to this special edition of "hannity," i'm tammy bruce in for sean. the tonight we begin in the d.c. swamp where yet again it's washington versus the rest of us, as our sense of sovereignty, safety and security are all under attack. and the culprits sadly are our own elected leaders who can't be bothered to care, because as it turns out the massive $1.7 trillion omnibus spending
6:01 pm
bill -- whew -- being rammed through congress does little to nothing for as example u.s. border security. all while democrats, and frankly some senate republicans, of course, continue to shrug off the worst border crisis in modern american history, hurting americans more and more by the day. yet again this week, video shows illegal meetings pouring across the border, overwhelming authorities with no end in sight. get this, in just the last year, well over 100,000 overdose deaths here in the united states as drugs continue to pour across the southern border and take innocent american lives. in 2022 alone, the dea seized enough fentanyl to kill everybody in our entire country, but for the far left democrats it's low on the list of priorities, as senate democrats for the third time blocked republican senator bill
6:02 pm
haggerty's legislation to crack down on fentanyl crossing the border. remember, biden's border crisis is so bad that every state of course is now a border state. cities across the country are bracing for an even worse influx, once title 42 border protections are eventually lifted. for example,, new york city mayor eric adams is predicting that over 1,000 migrants a week will arrive in new york city early next year. of the with the mayor warning that the surge will impact access to basic services meant for new york city's legal residents, which are, of course, already a problem here. this is a crisis caused by joe biden, enabled by joe biden, and getting worse under joe biden and the democrats. many elected leaders, they don't seem to care, as once again in washington the interests of everyday americans take a back seat to the interests of the swamp. here for reaction, someone you know and like and trust, former hawaii congresswoman tulsi
6:03 pm
gabbert. you mentioned you were getting the sense, unacceptable to you, that washington had stopped caring about average americans, about regular people, with what i opened with here, what's your take on where i stand right now? >> i mean, you're exactly right, tammy. that's really at the heart of this. we have democrats and republicans frankly in country who are failing at their most basic and foremost responsibility to ensure the safety, security and freedom of the american people. that starts with securing our border. we don't have a country if we don't have a secure border. now, you talked about this $1.7 trillion funding bill that the senate just passed, the house will very likely pass soon. well, there's about $continue.5 billion set aside for border security. the problem is the language also says they're not actually allowed to use any of that money to secure the border. they can't use it to expand their security capabilities. so when you look at what they're
6:04 pm
actually doing, ultimately they either don't care, as you said, or they are purely incompetent, either way they're failing at their jobs. they need to step up to the play and do their job or need to be replaced. >> it's fascinating, it's one thing to put it in, without specifying what it should be used for, but go out of their way to say don't use it for security, don't touch that. >> exactly. >> in the meantime, every issue we find at the border relates to every major issue in the country. crime. the wage gap problem. the diseases. health issues. inflation. the economy in general. housing issues, right? you've got people putting migrants in hotels, the homeless in hotels. we've got veterans now still on the street. i think the american people don't realize what's happening at the border, and really how it is linked to every single thing that we're facing, and what american families are dealing
6:05 pm
with. >> and tammy, as you're listing out all of these challenges, that are facing just about every community across this country, look, i served in the municipal government, on the honolulu city council, served in the state legislature for eight years, so often we're told in our communities from the federal government, sorry, there's not enough money. they're sending hundreds of millions of dollars to secure other countries' borders, spending money to feed into the industrial complex, but not supporting the needs of the american people right here at home. there's a lot to be done at the border. there's a lot that should be done at the border. things like, hey, let's deploy more of the national guard you're seeing on the screen right there to actually supplement and provide this immediate need to help secure our border. fix this broken asylum process. send a message very clear, both from our elected leaders, and those who want to serve in office, to the world, saying from here on out, if anyone
6:06 pm
comes across our border illegally you will be immediately deported and you will not be allowed to reenter our country, period. of the full stop. >> this release of title 42 has been an incentive. so regardless of what happens with this point of temporarily stopping it from the supreme court, it's too late. this has been going on for months, this lead-up. and urge, when this first began, when biden first came in, they called -- what was it? el paso, the new ellis island? do you remember that? that was an invitation if i ever heard one. >> exactly. and yet they have the audacity over and over again to say, oh, no, our borders are not open. we don't have open borders. you look at the proof. you look at the crisis that we are facing at the border right now, as you mentioned, people literally, thousands of people, crossing hour over hour, waiting for this supreme court hold on title 42 to be lifted, in anticipation that they will be able to walk straight through
6:07 pm
without any repercussions whatsoever because that's exactly what's been happening. >> the money i have to say -- thank you so much for joining us tonight. the little bit of money they're sending, we're turning into a big travel agency, because it's about facilitating their entry and then distributing them into the interior of the country. tulsi, great job. great to see. now a new republican house majority does in fact take power in january. and border security really ought to be a top priority obviously. here to explain what republicans can actually get done in a new congress, florida congressmen join me. we do know what's going on at the border. i'm still concerned that the majority of the americans maybe don't realizes the severity of what's happening at the border. they keep getting gas lit by biden, saying the border is closed. no, it's not.
6:08 pm
this is having a dramatic impact on every american's life. in january, what will the republicans do, considering what's happening with the spending bill? what's on tap here? what can we expect, sir? >> first of all, it's good to be with you. merry christmas to everybody. i share your concerns, because it's not just the administration, it is the big media that has conditioned the american people to not understand the complexities of what's happening at the border. the you couple that with a senate deal, passed basically with a twink and nod, allowing this program to continue. house republicans are going to be hamstrung by this spending bill. what are the leverage points to require the biden administration to secure the border? number one, give border agents the ability to make credible threats of fear at the border. number two, don't allow people to make asylum claims at the southern border. if you do those two things, that will actually limit the capabilities of people to use
6:09 pm
the drug cartels to come in to the united states. it's not a good situation. in part media, and you have senate republicans then passing this omnibus deal with the democrats, have really put us behind the eight ball about what to do with border security. >> you know, this is where you have to get creative. we see the democrats all the time being very creative. you got to give them credit for that. there's got to be ways to achieve certain things using other parts of the budget, using other kinds of legislation. what do you see happening starting in january? >> i agree with everything representative donalds said, but i think we need to take things even a step further. we need to designate these cartels that are behind all of it as either a terrorist organization or terrorist light organization. >> great idea. >> we need to put sanctions on these companies that we know are producing fentanyl as part of their asingle metric warfare to
6:10 pm
kill americans, working with the mexican cartels. that's step two. personally as a member of the armed services committee, as a veteran, we need to use military assets. i'm not talking boots on the ground, but cyberspace assets and other things we can be doing to jam the cartels, disrupt their organization, go after their money, and shut them down. we did it years ago to the cartels in colombia, and we can do it again if we have the will. finally there's going to be a north american leader summit on january 9-10 with justin tru trudeau, biden and more. that will put mexico on notice they need to put their national guard on their southern border, stop shifting migrants through as our problem. i doubt we'll see that from biden, but all three will sit
6:11 pm
down. justin trudeau is talking about electric vehicles and climate. we have to talk about the humanitarian crisis. january 9 and 10, north american leader summit, called the three amigo summit. we'll see what biden does. >> for representative donalds, i think this is an opportunity where if you're waiting for men like that to do something, it's useless, it's hopeless, that congress, that house republicans can have some kind of an action or a delegation or a demand or some legislation on the heels of that. you know, there's got to be something creative to push this along. we know that the house of representatives of the united states government has power, and republicans have to wield it. >> well, look, tammy, i'm going to tell you, the next big vehicle in my view that's going to come across might be the debt ceiling, that might be the next big one. whatever that leverage is, whatever that lever is in congress, we need to make sure that we make border security the
6:12 pm
number one thing that's on the agenda. and so for, you know, my colleagues on the other side of the aisle, who all of a sudden want to start talking about the border, because the midterm election are now over, i ask them, where have you been? where were you in august, september and october? immigration policy per se is not the issue. it is about securing the border. where my colleague is absolutely correct, the drug cartels are going to make $15 billion this year trafficking people and fentanyl into the united states of america. it is unconscionable. we must stand with whatever that lever is, we need to use it to make sure we secure the homeland here in the united states. >> you know, gentlemen, the american people gave the republicans the house of representatives for a reason. they want to see something happen. this is a test. this is not a hard test, right? we just need to implement the law as it stands and fund the ability for the border patrol
6:13 pm
and law enforcement in general to do their jobs. gentlemen, congressmen, thank you for joining me tonight. now biden's extreme immigration agenda is emboldening bad actors across the border, human smugglers, traffickers, and cartels are as active as ever, and taking advantage of the left wing open borders policy. so ask yourself, will democrats face any real political costs for their policy failures? a recent harvard harris poll finds that 67% of voters think that biden's policies have encouraged illegal immigration, and 79% want to keep title 42 border protectionse in place. one says the president's immigration failures are so egregious he's one step away from becoming a republican. take a look. >> my goodness, they're screaming at the top of their lungs. they want the administration to pay attention. we would love to see the
6:14 pm
president come down here to where the situation is actually happening live. i'm a democrat. i voted for joe biden. i'm pleading with him to come down here and illustrate that he cares for the people of south texas. everybody here. male, female, republican, democrat. every end of the spectrum here. everybody agrees on one thing. this is a crisis. we need attention from washington. we need action from our leaders. >> would you vote for him again? >> ha-ha-ha. we'll see. i got to tell you, the democrats are going to make a republican out of me. >> well, that's pretty serious. of course, that's happening to a lot of people these days. here for reaction, pollsters mark penn and lee carter. the poll is interesting, because the american people, even frankly through the midterms, have been very steady. we know they don't like what's happening in the country. they didn't necessarily hear solutions from the republican. so there was this mixed result.
6:15 pm
do you find that's still the case in this particular poll about what the american people want and now they're kind of waiting to see if anybody does anything about it? >> well, in our harris poll this month, i think the findings on immigration were frankly devastating for the administration. when the administration started people thought that that biden's policies were humanitarian. today they think they're promoting crime, fentanyl, increased problems in the country. but interestingly, only 6% of the public really knew the true dimension of the problem, that it was 2 million to 3 million migrants crossing the border. many meme thought it was 50,000, 100,000. as this information gets out, the polling will be worse. frankly congress should act. 79% in our poll say title 42 should be retained. >> it's interesting, lee, it's a great point, from mark, even 6%,
6:16 pm
that's an awful number. it does mean what i've presumed, which is that the majority of the american people don't even know the scale of it, but even without knowing the scale they're on the right side about what it is that needs to be done, how it needs to be stopped. >> yeah. i think there's no question about it. when you think about the education problem that we have in front of us -- let's be here. republicans have been talking about immigration for years now. it's somewhat surprising that only 6% of americans understand the scale of the problem. i do also think, looking at biden's approval numbers on immigration, there's only an 8% strongly approve of his immigration policy. that's a huge drop since where he started. that's a huge significant gap from where he sits on his regular approval ratings. this is an area americans want to see changed. 60% of americans, though, do believe that legal immigration makes america a better place. they don't understand how bad things are right now, but they
6:17 pm
do want to see radical change. they know it's not working. i think that neither party, as you just talked about, really made the case that they have the answers right now. >> you know, mark, it's interesting, because this is about a communication issue. biden's poll numbers are down, so people know something has gone wrong, as you noted, you know, he campaigned on being the empathetic, you know, the return to normal things and happiness and whatever it was they were campaigning on, and suddenly, though, americans are seeing kind of a collapse along the line of all the issues. yet, this one is about children, it's about women, it's about sex trafficking, it's about the economy. it affects housing, you know, employment. all of these issues. we're not even into next year yet. do you think that the big message here is also that for the republicans need to communicate more about the volume, the problem with the volume of this mess? >> well, obviously the
6:18 pm
republicans failed to really break through on the issue, you know, in the midterms. i think the issue has really bubbled up now. i think the public is beginning to get this broader story. but remember, most of the media really wouldn't cover what's on the border. >> right. >> the president and vice president refuse to go down to the border, because they didn't want to credit the story. look, when i advised president, we would meet problems head on. i think the president and vice president should go down, should recognize the problem, should deal with it. you know, if this president seriously wants to run for re-election, he can't leave this border issue the way it is. most people believe that the policy is nothing more than open borders, and the public never supported open borders, even if they're for an immigration policy that has strict borders, but treats people here with some compassion and a path to work permits and others. >> yeah. well, exactly. i mean, it's never been a debate. we are a country of immigrants. we embrace that dynamic.
6:19 pm
the immigrants who come here legally, this an affront to those individuals as well. we've seen the numbers of hispanics supporting republicans has skyrocketed on these kinds of issues. would you say, with the recent polling, of course, that americans are getting a bit -- i think we saw it a bit during the midterms -- they're getting a better sense that there's not compassion happening, that this administration is intolerant, lacks a level of compassion, not only for immigrants, but for the american people, what we're going through as well, on the economy, on crime issues, etc. >> there's no doubt about it. i think part of the problem republicans have had, though, is that they focus so much on the criminals coming over and not as much about the huge problem. when people look at the bigger picture, when they hear how long it's taking for people to get asylum, to be heard, sometimes up to six years, it's shocking to people. only 40% of americans know what's going on.
6:20 pm
they think it takes less than six months for it to happen. the whole process is broken from beginning to end. looking at the whole problem is what americans want to hear about, because overall it's a humanitarian crisis, it's a border crisis. it's a security issue. there's a drug issue. 60% of americans realize there's a huge drug trafficking issue as a result of immigration. >> right. >> we can't just be looking at the worst parts of it. we have to look at the whole thing. >> thank you both for joining me. all those issues are nonpartisan. democrats, republicans, independents, we all care about them. thank you, mark and lee, for joining me. coming up later, the latest on the monster storm sweeping the u.s. and the major travel headaches coming up. stay right there.
6:21 pm
6:22 pm
waiting. sometimes it's just inevitable. but if you're over 50 or live with a chronic condition, waiting could be deadly. because conditions like heart disease or diabetes raise your risk of serious illness or death from untreated covid. and if you don't get treatment within days, you may not be able to get treatment. so, got covid symptoms? get tested and get treated right away. it can't wait.
6:23 pm
6:24 pm
6:25 pm
6:26 pm
>> welcome back to this special edition of "hannity." at this hour, a major winter storm is impacting almost the entire wonderful united states of america with temperatures falling well below freezing, currently as far south as dallas. the same cold is expected to reach down to the gulf coast by the morning. so this of course is extremely dangerous situation for tens of millions of your fellow people out there. so now our own fox weather
6:27 pm
meteorologist kelly costa is live with the latest. kelly? >> that's right. this is going to impact everyone. i mean, it's really going to be hard to find people who do not feel some sort of impact. if you get the rain, then you're getting the fl flash freeze. if you get the snow, you're getting the wind. weather alerts across the board. blizzard warnings across the northern plains, even the great lakes region. hard to see, but buffalo and watertown new york are included in those blizzard warnings. remember, when it comes to blizzard warnings, it's more about the wind, creating whiteout conditions, making travel nearly impossible. another thing i'm worried about. yes, new york is getting the rain for the rest of today. also this round heading into tomorrow. behind it the arctic air. for new york city that means a flash freeze, happening friday night heading into christmas
6:28 pm
eve, creating a treacherous condition on the roads. black ice is difficult to see. the ohio valley, rain going on right now. that's eventually going to freeze on the ground. on top of that, the snow is going to coat the ice on the road making it even harder to see the ice, as if ice is not difficult enough to see on its own. lake-effect snow happens when you get a blast of arctic air. we're calling this lake enhanced. for areas of michigan, the great lakes, as a whole, they're going to be dealing with lake-effect snow throughout the day on friday, saturday, and into sunday, because of that lake-effect these areas are going to be seeing feet of snow. for the areas not in the lake-effect, you're just talking about a couple of inches. so really depends on where you are. notice new york is not expecting any accumulation. there's a chance maybe late tomorrow afternoon there could be a few flurries flying around. not expecting a accumulation, but could finish as snow for the new york city area.
6:29 pm
again, i'm more concerned about the ice there. on top of that, we have the wind. what happens when it's windy? you lose power. you don't want to lose power when it's this cold. lucky if your heat is powered by gas or wood stove. powered by electricity, this is a problem. buffalo 70 to 80-mile-an-hour wind gusts. that's comparable to hurricane strength wind gusts we're talking about. major, major wind. chicago, indianapolis, 30 to 50-mile-an-hour wind gusts. that does include all the way into new england as well. back to you. >> kelly, that sounds like an entire nightmare. almost like god wants you to stay home for christmas. i'm not sure. thank you, ma'am. great job. now, we will have a report on how the storm is wreaking havoc on americans' travel plans in just a moment. don't miss that. let's switch gears now back to washington, which is also sort of a nightmare, where hunter biden has retained a top defense lawyer, amid house republicans growing scrutiny, the biden's
6:30 pm
nefarious foreign dealings. recently released internal documents from twitter so that the fbi was deeply involved in directing the tech platform on what to censor, even warning of a, quote, hack and leak operation involving hunter biden despite the fact that the fbi had already had the laptop for over 10 months. meaning they knew that there was no hack and that it was real. of course, as usual, the fbi is refusing to take any responsibility for politicizing justice, saying in a statement, quote, the correspondence between the fbi and twitter show nothing more than examples of our traditional longstanding and ongoing federal government and private sector engagements, which involve numerous companies over multiple sectors and industries, which of course does not make me happy. then adding, though, listen to this, it is unfortunate that conspiracy theorists and others are feeding the american public misinformation with the sole purpose of attempting to discredit the agency.
6:31 pm
now, that of course is their reacting to their own emails revealed by the twitter files. so whatever. right? here with reaction, incoming chairman of the house oversight committee james comer and former u.s. attorney bret tolman. you keep coming back. every now and then i bite you gently. i don't leave a mark, but i really appreciate your honesty and your approach here, because we know that you've got a big job ahead of you. you've now seen the fbi claim that the revealing of their own exchanges in their own emails by their own agents is a conspiracy theory. does this give you any sense of, you know, encouragement about their own honesty with any kind. hearings you might be having? >> no. it's very disappointing to see the fbi continue in its downward spiral. misinformation was their own words. what we have revealed from
6:32 pm
twitter, their own words, their own emails, not to mention the whistleblowers have come forward and told us additional information that the public will be hearing very soon. who they call conspiracy theorists are conservatives in the media and members of congress. so the fbi has a huge problem. it's only getting worse. their confidence level, not only among republicans in congress, but among the public, is at an all-time low. >> it is. bret, let me suggest here, you know, with you and your background, i think the american people should be a little concerned that the federal law enforcement agency that we have decides -- its knee-jerk immediate reaction is not just to deny, but then to accuse people who have their own information as being either liars or conspiracy theorists. what is does it say to you about the burr itself at this point? >> well, tammy, thanks for having me on. i'm sure glad to see representative comer and my
6:33 pm
friend jim jordan will be the ones to get some accountability and some transparency. what it really says is not surprising to me. the fbi -- you know, little known fact, tammy, is there was a big shift in the fbi after 9/11. what was predominantly an agency that was working with state and locals to investigate and interdict drug crime and violent crime became an agency that started to turn its attention to more clandestine investigations, all in the guys in protecting americans from terrorism. they filled their ranks with computer analysts and with different types of agents than we've seen historically. individuals that now have to justify their existence. what do they do? they turn to more political and more partisan investigations and justify justified by those at the top like jim comey and others. we're seeing the hind end of a
6:34 pm
very bad pattern in the fbi that many of us saw coming years and years ago. >> yeah. boy, sure is a hind end, isn't it? representative comber, we saw this starting with clapper lying to congress about metadata, surveilling american citizens, shocking in itself, but to brett's point, they use the patriot act and mentality to think that everything was open, that they could do whatever they wanted in the name of something else. is that something that's on your plate a bit when looking at the culture itself in the fbi and what it's become? >> absolutely. we believe the fbi needs to be reformed. it needs to start at the top. we need new leadership at the fbi. we need to make reforms to the fbi. the fbi has used their fisa warrant ability, the taxpayers by creating a division of at least 80 people that do nothing
6:35 pm
but i essentially the social media police. there's no one providing any checks and balances for what they term as disinformation. what they term as disinformation may be what most americans term as fact. so there's a lot of problems with how they're spending their money, how they're abusing their power. >> well, i tell you, gentlemen, this is -- you have to stay on it, because clearly this is frightening, and should be frightening to the american people, because this really is just the tip of the iceberg. i mean, this is a comfort level, this agency has had, on things that they should have no business doing, and is the antithesis of certainly this government and our constitution expects of them. thank you very much, congressman comer and brett, thank you very much. turning back to the major winter storm, causing chaos across much of the country. many of you are worried about it, as you should be. millions of americans are trying to travel ahead of the christmas holiday. of course, this is the first one really where most of us feel
6:36 pm
comfortable going to family and getting together. however, thousands of flights were delayed or canceled today. jeff paul is in los angeles with the latest. jeff? >> yeah. tammy, if you aren't traveling over the next few days, be thankful. if you are, buckle up for what has been and what will continue to be a very bumpy ride. most of the headaches due to the so-called bomb cyclone coming in. the numbers truly say it all. right now according to flight aware, more than 2,000 flights in, out, or within the u.s., have been canceled. and more than 9,000 are delayed. the two words the airport seem to be chicago and denver, but obviously any delays or cancellations there, or other airports, impacted by the storm, can impact flights throughout the entire country. >> flustered. we're trying to search on our phone, figure out other routes.
6:37 pm
maybe even taking a bus, taking us about 21 hours. >> and the roads aren't much better. bus companies, especially in the midwest, are warning travelers to expect delays or cancellations, and the same goes for rail services, like amtrak. tammy? >> well, jeff paul, thank you very much for that. a lot of stuff going on for people around christmastime and hanukkah here. now, while it's been a question on the minds of many americans now since the day joe biden took office, why work if you don't have to? a new analysis has the answer. the committee to unleash prosperity has just published a new report finding that in 14 states around the country, a family with two unemployed parents and two children can receive benefits that on an annualized basis total $80,000 a year or more. plus healthcare. yeah. and a major driver of the payouts? obamacare subs subsidizey.
6:38 pm
steve, i have to tell you, i get your newsletter every day. it's scary, but it's got a lot of great information. you have the data about things like this. i think that, you know, there's unemployment insurance, or for some reason people are comfortable not working, because of covid, but those numbers are shocking when you're looking at $80,000 a year to not work. how does that come out? >> yeah. well, merry christmas to you, tammy. hi, jessica. good to be with you as well. we did the study, tammy, because we really wanted to find out exactly why it is that there's so many job openings throughout the country. restaurants can't get people back. our manufacturing sector doesn't
6:39 pm
have enough workers. construction crews. you see the help wanted signs and small businessmen and women are having a tough time still to this day getting the workers back. we're about 3 million or 4 million few workers today, tammy, than we were in 2019, before covid. we started looking at these packages of benefits. we looked at unemployment benefits, looked at obamacare subsidies. you can get subsidized healthcare from the government. in about 20 states, you can make over $75,000 of benefits. that's more than, for example, a nurse might make or a construction worker or a firefighter or a policeman or payroll accountant. you have to wonder whether this is fair, the people who are working, that the guy next door is not working, getting
6:40 pm
benefits, making more than they are. >> jessica, i know that this is a problem that really is not about really republicans or democrats, because everybody likes the dignity of work, and having your own future that you can plan. nobody likes being reliant on a brother-in-law or big government. my mother had welfare. i grew up in a generally poor environment. she was just destroyed by that system. she worked retail most of her life. what do you say when we look at this, and republicans perhaps complain about subsidies, that this is democrat planning and policies, and what do you say to democrats, that this is fine, people deserve this, is that part of the argument? >> well, first of all, thank you for having me. merry christmas to both of you. i think that you're absolutely right, that this is isn't necessarily a democratic problem or republican problem, and that people across the political spectrum do want to work. they enjoy the dignity of work, something that's important, not
6:41 pm
only to their families, but for their own self worth. obviously these numbers are astronomical when you see them. i find it interesting, to see where we were going. i do wonder, though, how many people are actually cashing in all of these benefits together. how many people knew what steve knows now essentially, right, that you could get that if you cash in all the benefits. i would say to democrats, you know, there are reasonable questions, about extensions of certain benefits, necessarily from the pandemic. we are in this brave new world now. i would also caution people to use the terms, bring back the welfare queens of the '90s, and to really pooh-pooh a lot of people who are trying their best to work. a lot of people take benefits and also hold down a job. to also pay attention to the fact -- i brought this up earlier on "the five" -- that the child tax credit, which was allowed to expire by congress was something that brought over 50% of kids who were in poverty
6:42 pm
out of poverty. it's gone a long way to address childhood hunger. republicans have no answer for that. >> this is it, steve, that we've got a government that seems to not be connected at all with real life, with real people, the choices they're making, the inflation that's being caused, and the lives that are destroyed when you throw money at stuff. what do you say to that? >> uh-huh. well, look, jessica is right, that this doesn't fit all people. she's making a good point. but here's the interesting thing. you know, when you look in the 1990s, when we had a republican congress, newt gingrich was running the house, and you had a democratic president in bill clinton, back then, tammy, we passed a landmark welfare reform bill that really worked -- >> it's why i voted for bill clinton. i worked for that campaign. it's why i voted for bill clinton. >> yeah, exactly. and this was a huge success. we moved half of the people who had been on welfare out of welfare into work.
