from buffalo and she says she has never seen anything like this. >> we still have scores and scores of vehicles that were abandoned when people left during the storm, or in a ditch, they cannot possibly get out. we have had snowplows, major snowplows and rescue vehicles. i saw them myself in ditches buried in snow. >> anita: the brutal weather causing thousands of flight delays and cancellations. flight aware, charles watson is at the airport in atlanta with all of the latest there, and charles, you've been chatting with us there from the airport over the last couple of days. how are things looking today? >> well, look, it's busy. the travel troubles continue here in atlanta, and at airports across the country. this is a taste of what it looks like here in atlanta, what we are experiencing. a lot of folks in the airport today. large crowds, large lines full

of people who are just hoping that the day goes smoothly for them. unfortunately, that likely won't be the case for many as travelers face yet another day of flight delays and cancellations in large part due to the deadly arctic blast that has put a freeze on most of the country and is at least partially responsible for 48 storm-related deaths nationwide. newark liberty international, baltimore-washington international are the airports feeling it the most, the most delays and causing the most misery for travelers. and today looks like a big struggle for southwest airlines. the airline has already canceled nearly 1400 flights and the day is not over yet. frustrations are building among people, including one woman broke down in tears as she tells us about her nightmare trip to fort myers, florida. take a listen.

>> directly to fort myers, it was delayed, delayed, delayed, delayed, delayed, it was delayed, then we didn't have a pilot, it was delayed but not canceled, they did not cancel it until 2:00 a.m., which was after all of the car rental places were closed, i'm sorry -- so i've been up since, you know, 7:00 yesterday and trying to get a couple naps in on the benches. >> horrible story that woman tells us her and her friends have given up trying to take a flight to florida and have decided to drive. in buffalo, the airport is preparing to get planes back in the sky on tuesday after blizzard conditions force officials to ground flights and close the airport for safety. it has not been easy for tens of millions who drove to holiday destinations either, at least eight were killed in storm-related crashes after snow and ice created dangerous

conditions on the road. and guys, this will probably be the look at airports across the country, at least for the next couple of days as airlines really try to catch up with all the delays and cancellations we have seen over the last week or so and get people on to flights to get where they are going. pack the patience, back to you. >> anita: that woman was almost in tears, you could really, really feel the frustration there, and wide across so many airports today. appreciate it, we'll check back with you later. now we want to go to katie garner from fox weather. katie, do you have any better news than we just heard from charles about the snarls at airports around the country? >> here is the thing. i'm going to start out showing you totals, but verbally tell everybody out there yes, a warming trend next week. so as many of you have been below average, that many of you in the 200 million people range

are above average into next week. buffalo airport, a reason it's closed in the last 48 hours. 43 inches of snow, buffalo, yearly average is just over 95 inches, so we have almost hit the top total for the season. probably surpass it as the week progresses. 3 to 4 more inches of snow expected. the snow to close, 3 to 5 inches through tuesday, but watertown, 12 to 18 inches of snow still to come in that specific area. buffalo, new york, here we go. all eyes are on buffalo, and mine are, too. so, look at this, monday and tuesday, yeah, today and tomorrow, you are in the 20s, with lows in the 20s as well, a lot of snow. by wednesday, a little bit of

sunshine and then cloud cover through sunday. and look at watertown, i want to show you, yeah, the snow will last through tuesday night. highs in the 20s, highs in the 30s for wednesday. graphically i did not show you anything more positive but i'm telling you, a warming trend is coming, we have to get through the snow first. >> william: for more on the story, download the fox weather app or streaming site as well for your favorite connected tv device. >> anita: so many ways to watch. let's bring in patrick, the superintendent of highways for the town of amherst, new york, and extend condolences, more than 25 people have died in the area from this blizzard and these horrific conditions. we just heard from our weather meteorologist that the snow continues through tuesday and then we get a little bit of a break, a little bit of a warming trend.

what can you tell us about the situation in erie county? >> for the town of amherst, we are just a little north of buffalo. we received as much snow as anybody else, if not more. normally we can deal with 40 inches of snow. however, when there is a 70 mile an hour wind blowing it around for 36 hours and i can't put the plow trucks out, we fell behind the eight ball. so now we are trying to catch up to clear the roads from a good 2 to 3 feet of snow off these roads that again, normally we would have taken care of during the last three days. >> anita: when you have that much snow and you are doing your best to get out there and clear the snow so people can get out, are there people who are -- are you worried there are people who are trapped inside their homes, can't get out, the basics they need and what about power. are there still power outages in

the area? >> yes. the town of amherst, approximately 37,000 households. at the peak from our power grid company they showed over 3,000 people were without power, primarily saturday into sunday. and this is where we were assisting our trucks, my high lifts, plows were assisting emergency services to answer the calls so we could help the people out. that was a priority. nobody is going to argue that, but it did delay myself and my crews from cleaning our roads. so again, today finally as we open more roads, the emergency services can access the calls. it doesn't require our help so that we can concentrate now and in doing our regular business. >> anita: what do you want to tell the people of your town, what advice to ride out the next

couple of days here. what's most important for you to let them know? >> again, we patient. what we did since last night overnight and into today, we made some great headway. we are not going to stop. our employees have not been home for easter -- easter -- for christmas or christmas eve, they have been working, for the most part on shifts straight through and then sleeping when they went home. so, again, they are working very diligently and we will continue to do this into the weekend where i'm hoping that there isn't a rapid melt where we are facing flooding conditions. >> anita: yeah, yeah, nobody wants to see that, and good point, don't often think of the first responders and workers who are missing christmas eve, christmas, the holidays, to help other. a shout out to them, of course. patrick loosey, superintendent

handful of busses that arrived here in washington, d.c. outside the vice president's residence. so, the white house's comment about that, governor abbott abandoned children on the side of the road in below freezing temperatures on christmas eve without coordinating with any federal or local authorities. this was a cruel, dangerous and shameful stunt as we have repeatedly said, we are willing to work with anyone on real solutions like the border security measures, president biden sent to congress on his first day in office, political games accomplish nothing and only put lives in danger. dhs says they are still using title 42 ahead of its expiration, and say they enforce the immigration and public laws at the border. individuals and families attempting to enter without authorization are being expelled or placed into removal

procedures. as temperatures are dangerously low along the border, they are attempting to cross only to be returned. leaving some experts on border security wanting more. >> there are about seven statements in the last ten days on dhs website, not one that says we are going to enforce the border better, not one that says we are going to give the border patrol agents and the front line of dhs the tools they need, the tools they know work to secure and solve the problem on the southwest border. >> white house officials remain quiet about all of this. een nearly one week since we were told by white house officials there is going to be a call where they would outline their proposals for a post title 42 world. that call still has not happened. william. >> william: thank you so much. tom homan, former ice director and fox news contributor, and a former press secretary from the

democratic national committee. jose, start with you. democrats have had the house, senate and the white house two years. as you look at the southern border, is that a success? >> look, i think first and foremost recognize the border, immigration, you know, situation in the united states has got to be fixed by both parties. i think just now we got senator sinema to put forth a bill to legally 2 million dreamers in the united states and add $25 billion for the border, and republicans said they want solutions, we are providing a solution. >> william: you can't blame republicans for this, jose, you had -- you have the -- >> biden cannot do this by himself, i think even though it's been -- >> william: your party cannot do it by itself. >> the budget that just passed, more money for the border but it's not enough.

drone is what killed these three soldiers. ukraine is not officially taking credit but one military official calls it "the consequence of russian aggression." it's the second time this month that this same air base has been targeted. last time was december 5th, and we saw significant russian airstrikes as a response to that. we'll see if we see it tonight or tomorrow morning here in kyiv. take a look at the next video. the horrible attack at kherson, president zelenskyy is warning ukrainians on more airstrikes. 16 were killed, 64 were hurt. here is president zelenskyy with a new message for ukrainians today. >> only a few days of this year left. we must be aware that our enemy will try to make this time dark and difficult for us. >> this comes as intense fighting continues in ukraine's

co-chairman for the center for american security and fox news contributor. appreciate you coming in. >> anita, thanks for having me. appreciate it. >> anita: of course. this has not been the best christmas for folks around the world, especially in ukraine, the brutal war continues there, and we heard nate foy said it's going over into a new year now. we just heard 16 people were killed in the city of kherson. i want you to listen to this quote from president zelenskyy. he called the christmas eve attack on kherson killing for the sake of intimidation and pleasure. i mean, that's kind of a sickening statement but do you agree with that? >> yeah, you know what we are looking at is pure intimidation. but they are attacking civilian targets. that's the way the russians are doing it. and frustration overall and it's unfortunate. we have not come up with the end state on this -- an end game that we are pushing forward on it. i think the united states is culpable. what i mean by culpable, we are

a proxy to this war, and we may not say that and president biden may not say that but we are. we provided three-quarters of the military economic humanitarian aid, we have provided the most advanced weapons so far that have killed tens of thousands of russians. one-third of the country are new refugees, and president biden has not said this is how we are going to end it. he cannot leave it up to zelenskyy. he needs to pick up the phone and call vladimir putin and say look, this is how we intends to end the war and he has to go in really hard and there should be some examples that we use in the last administration when we did soleimani, and call super escalation. and say we are going to provide ukraine with the maximum amount of equipment we can, and kill the army in the field and push

them out of ukraine or go to negotiations, and tell putin up front. he will realize in 1917 it happened with alexander ii when the russian army mutinied. we have not done that, we have to give them everything we've got. a lot of people out there, and the republican side of the house and conservative side of the house don't want to talk about that, but that train has left the station. this war is over 300 days old, we have to come up with an even state. >> anita: earlier today the alert came across the ap wire saying ukraine foreign minister tells the ap his government aims to have a peace summit by february at the u.n. we are also hearing vladimir putin talk about maybe wanting to have some kind of a peace negotiation. i'm sure a peace negotiation by vladimir putin versus zelenskyy looks very different. should the u.s. be pushing that? some sort of a negotiation for

peace? >> yeah, you know, it's a great question. the fact is that does not work. the process to bring peace to ukraine. zelenskyy does not want it and neither does putin. putin wants a military victory. this goes back to the chinese, the communist chinese way of negotiation. that was talk, talk, fight, fight, that's good to talk about it, but the end state is going to be the russians leaving ukraine, whether they like it or not. they will get forced out of it. the whole thing about negotiation, i don't think it's going to go anywhere. we have tried in the past, it's going to fail. go hard line. we have to do something hard. the guy who has to lead is president biden and he has not been leading it at all. >> anita: see if there is a change in posture as we enter into the new year. lieutenant general keith kellogg, thank you for your insight, appreciate you coming in. >> william: china circling

taiwan as they blast the u.s. for hyping up the china threat adding that china "deplores and firmly opposes a move by the u.s. to include funds for taiwan in its annual defense spending bill." greg palkot is live in london with more. greg. >> hi, william. a major show of force from china against taiwan just in the last 24 hours. those 71 planes, including fighter jets as well as patrol and surveillance aircraft, they entered the island's air defense zone, 43 of them crossing the median line, and the seven ships, even a drone. chinese officials confirm they were conducting so-called "strike drills" against the islands military, basically mock attacks on the defense of taiwan, a place china claims as its own, in response to what beijing calls the current taiwan escalate and provocation, to refer to the $10 billion worth of u.s. weaponry and military

to avoid by rushing through this process last minute before christmas, happened anyway. congress had to pass yet another continuing resolution, sort of a band aid bill for about a week since it's going to take a couple of days before this omnibus actually finally reaches the president's desk. anita. >> anita: my understanding, they have to put it on parchment paper and official before it gets to the president's desk. so much drama before the end of the year. aishah hasnie, thank you. william. >> bring in south carolina republican congresswoman nancy mace, she voted against this trillion dollar spending bill. nancy, help me out a little bit. what aishah said there, kevin mccarthy is threatening to not hear bills sponsored by senators as a way of retaliation, if you will, because they voted with it? parse out the politics for me here. >> well, i think that there's a lot of frustration and anger

with house republicans the way i went down last week. talking about a 4,000 page bill crafted behind closed doors, does nothing but pour gasoline on the fire that is inflation. my son turns 16 today, birthday dinner tonight, he's going to want money for his birthday. that does not mean i'm taking out loans from family members and giving him a credit card with federal limits. neither should the government. lack of responsible spending, don't get me started on the border. it's devastating what they are going to do. >> william: water under the bridge, right. the bill has been passed, it will be signed. what can you and other conservatives do in the near term to turn off the tap? is there anything you can do? >> well, yeah, there's nothing we can do in the short-term. we can't do anything until we are in the majority next year and have another continuing resolution or another spending bill before us but it's very

disappointing. and when i was reading some of the, finally got time to read some of the legislation, $1.5 billion going to cement the relationship between the white house and the cartels. cartels are engaged in human trafficking and drug trafficking across the border every day and we gave almost $500 million to other countries to secure their borders. and i hope when kevin mccarthy is speaker, i believe he will be, that he's going to hold the senate's feet to the fire. this is wrong. >> william: congresswoman, people talk about bipartisanship all the time. how often during the day do you speak to the people across the aisle? >> i speak to democrats all the time. as a freshman and as a conservative in my first term in congress i passed over 20 bills out of the various committees that i work on with democrats. over ten of mine passed out of the house and most recently president biden just last week signed a cybersecurity billy

worked with congressman ro khanna out of california on was signed into law. it is important for us to reach across the aisle but that's not really on the house side of things, this omnibus bill, was not bipartisan in any way, shape or form. >> do you feel beholden to leadership? >> i often joke. i represent a very purple swing district and i am a caucus of one. i sort of march the beat of my own drum, that represents the independent voice of my district. you see me work with republicans, and i hold both sides accountable. republicans and democrats alike have been a problem. they have both added to the deficit, what the omnibus bill is going to do. we saw 18 republicans last week vote for it. they are adding to our deficit with this thing, and that's not

>> anita: well, target is recalling tens of thousands of the popular pillow fort weighted blankets for kids. consumer products safety commission reports two little girls got trapped inside the blankets and died from suffocation in april. and four other children have been injured. a spokesperson for target tells fox we send our deepest condolences to the families who lost their loved ones. as soon as we knew of the situation we acted quickly. and death toll has risen in new york, emergency officials in buffalo, new york, say at least 27 have died there. new york governor kathy hochul says it is not over yet, folks.

latest ones highlight how vulnerable the electric grid is. crews were working to restore the power in several towns out in pierce county, east of tacoma, washington, after 14,000 customers were left in the dark. someone broke into at least four of the substations on christmas and vandalized that essential equipment you are looking at. investigators tell us the criminals broke in through the fencing. no one has been arrested in any of these cases but they could face some serious criminal charges. >> it does seem similar to incidents that we have seen in oregon and southern washington as well as in north carolina where power substations were targeted by individuals or groups. >> this all comes weeks after a similar power grid attack in north carolina. one county had to declare a state of emergency after someone shot up at least two of their substations. those bullets just destroyed the grid and left 45,000 people without power.
