i'm obsessed and that's why i'm going to keep the party going all the way until the 6th of january. >> griff: wasn't totally a party for some because of that massive storm. we begin with a fox weather alert. nearly 60 people are dead across 12 states including 28 in western new york after a massive christmas weekend blizzard. >> rachel: that's right. it has been tougher. recovery efforts underway in the buffalo area which got hit with as much as 4 feet of snow over the weekend. >> joe: fox weather correspondent and snow walker as we learned yesterday, max gorden is live in buffalo with the latest. max? >> hey, good morning, guys, well, a lot of people here in buffalo woke up to additional snowfall this morning. not what folks wanted to sees a you mentioned, we are now over e buffalo area with several more inches left to go today. really, the duration of this event has been one of the biggest challenges for people here. unfortunately.

27 people here in erie county are confirmed dead. folks have been found in snow banks frozen to death. several people found in cars and unfortunately in some cases, emergency workers just haven't been able to get out to folks because the roads have simply been too bad. still at this hour thousands of people are without power and workers are trying to get the power back on. now, this storm has caused travel chaos all across the country. southwest airlines in particular has had to exan sell nearly 2500 flights. that's more than 60% of its schedule. of course, other airlines have also been impacted. here in the buffalo area, the airport has had to push bark its reopening several times. now it's not scheduled to reopen until tomorrow at 11:00 a.m. at the earliest. it's just been really hard to clear off runways and travel bans are still in place in some places here in erie county, here in buffalo in particular, though they have been lifted in other

migrants here just north of san diego outside of a center where they are literally, yesterday, releasing migrants. he says most of the old patrol headquarters gentleman telling me that they're mostly going nicaraguans and cubans a few venevenezuelans. what you have the ngos have no places to put them the shelters are empty. got to go somewhere. they are dropped off with no instructions and no idea where to go. they simply can't deal with them. will. >> joe: this administration believes everybody across the border pure of heart individual who is just seeking ant opportunity. they want to come here and build this country stronger and all of those words sound fantastic. the truth is even with good people come bad things when there is chaos no, law and order. and this is a great example right here. raúl ortiz, border patrol chief tweeting he be alert we have

seen drastic increase of loaded firearms being carried by human smugglers. never get complacent and always approach with caution. stay safe out there and remember, this is important. you have a family to go home to at the end of your shift. i can attest to that i used to live in texas. i have a lot of friends. i was actually just talking downstairs with someone in our hair and makeup room santonio. people will know plentyton hours hour south of san antonio. two friends go into hunting blind and when they open the door were greeted by gahanna. where migrants had hid in there or smugglers. i don't know to me they're the same because, you know, it's like fighting the taliban or al-qaeda they don't wear a uniform. i don't know whether that's a drug smuggler or well-meaning family whether they have a gun pointed at me they are bad guy. two guys experienced that in the last five years down there. we are not making this up. people in texas aren't making this up. they fear for their lives

because there's complete chaos down there. if 1001 people crossed a border and 1,000 of them are good people, it only takes one to wreak havoc and take somebody's life. and americans have rate too be mad about that. >> rachel: just in the last year we know for a fact and these are just the numbers the government is willing to release to us. we know there are 90 known terrorists. god knows how many have gotten through. you talk about it takes just one. we have 90 that we know of. think about how many have gotten through that we don't know of or how many more our government is hiding from us because you know that the government doesn't want us to know the truth about how many terrorists have come through. and we have unbelievably the most dangerous border crossing in the world is the southern border here. rodney scott is a retired border patrol chief, this is what he says about the so-called preparedness plan coming from the biden administration for the end of title 42.

so, what impact do you know as a former border patrol agent and a resident do you think will happen in your town? what's the impact for you guys? >> well, i'm actually in eagle pass now. and as a retired border patrol agent, all my 19 years i spent here in eagle pass i never went to another duty station. i have never seen the numbers this bad before. the impact is tremendous. it's drained all of the resources that our community has not only law enforcement resources but church resources as well as the county. the county is already bankrupt so is the city as far as we know. we just can't sustain this it's not going to happen. >> rachel: you talk about the medical and health. it's not just strained it's drained. i understand from the notes you gave our producers earlier that illegal migrants are taking priority at hospitals and clinics over u.s. citizens.

>> yes. exactly right. as a matter of fact, it happened to my in-law's. my mother had to got emergency room and she was there for extended period of time before she was able to be seen. and she was able to witness how there were groups of illegal folks being brought in to get checked for medical purposes. and she is the type of person that hey, she don't carry [inaudible] you should get it but her concern was that a lot of these folks that were coming in with the border patrol agents they didn't look really bad compared to those folks that were there, the u.s. citizens that were legal residents who live here waiting to seek medical attention. she noticed they were being given priority she didn't think that was fair at all. >> rachel: of course not. >> she is the type of person that believes everybody treated legally but she saw the discrepancy. speaking to similar situations they have gone through similar

yield savings account in the federal reserve keeps boosting interest rates which is hurting a lot of fo folk when it comes o credit cards. let's use it to our advantage. the average savings account pays about .4%. can you easily get close 4% if you shop around a little bit. that's 10 times the interest that you'll earn on your savings. to me, joe, that's a no-brainer. i would rather have that money than give it to the bank. i don't know but, right? >> joe: if there is money left over in my budget to have. sure. my savings account is more of a transactional thing kind of in and out. not a lot stays there. and then this last tip i really like this. you talk about using cash. and you are talking about using paper. you basically mean because it kind of holds you accountable if i have to give you paper i'm not just running a number up on a bank account. >> yeah. joe, it's called cash. they still make this stuff, believe it or not. they still make it. we still use it. so go on a cash diet.
