travelers stranded over the holidays nearly a week to get back home. lines at the airports growing, frustrated travelers losing their patients, desperate passengers forced to spend days sleeping on the floor at terminals while the airline cut 80% of its schedule at the height of the holiday travel season. and surrounding them, lost luggage. take a look at this, thousands of bags with personal belongings piled up at airports across the country. passengers got little satisfaction to contact the airlines because the phone lines were jammed up. even southwest flight crews had trouble getting through to find out about their own schedules. take a look at the screenshots, flight attendants on hold nearly five hours and nearly eight hours waiting to be cut through to scheduling. the scheduling department to receive their assignments. reports of pilots waiting on hold for 20 plus hours.

lisa boothe, what a mess! >> lisa: first of all, i eat too much during the holiday like chris farley in "the fat guy." i might die of circulation. but you know, this is obviously a complete disaster. i was reading through why this happened. there seems to be this errors with southwest primarily being point to point system the way they operate, the way they fly. these consecutive routes through different airports with ones jammed up cascading is a different effect on other major airlines. 70% of the flights canceled and compared to american airlines less than 1%. you obviously see a broader issue here. now on the receiving end of the department of transportation. they have the opportunity to face fines, penalty as a result of that. congress will be investigating as well. if they are in violation of their policies or the department of transportation rules may be a
