republican senators to get what they want out of it and that's what we saw happen. so, you know, the white house is bragging on the fact that president biden didn't have a government shutdown and to think that that's where we are that you get to brag on the fact that you didn't go to your wit's end and then you look at kevin mccarthy to be speaker of the house. could he have, should he have pushed for this to be carried over into february before they funded the government so that the republicans in the house would have a say in it? i don't know. >> katie: well, the house is going to be in republican control in four days, as you mentioned. and just because president biden is in saint croix, the white house counselor has been very busy sending letter to some of those house republicans who are taking over and interested in doing some oversight. they wrote a letter to congressman james comer and jim jordan who are going to be in charge of some of the important committees in the house they said, quote: the request in your letters were not made as a part of the congressional oversight process in the 117th congress.

should the committee issue similar or other requests in the 118th congress we will review and respond to them in good faith consistent with the needs and obligations of both branches. we expect congress will undertake it oversight responsibilities in the same spirit of good faith. so basically they are telling them you want to do oversight, whether it's on hunter biden our the afghanistan withdrawal, you're going to have to rewrite all those letters and submit them and we will review them and see if we will cooperate. >> griff: this is only simply delaying what we know is coming. that is with the incoming chairman of james come member of oversight committee and jim jordan, they are going to have hearings that is going to span everything from hunter biden to the withdrawal in average to the origins of covid. and, yet, here they are playing games and, perhaps, controlling a little bit that kevin mccarthy has not yet solidified his speakership. james comer spoke out yesterday about that on ingraham angle last night and had this to say.

private industry. i will say on the other side i know a lot of really hardworking people when i travel around the country whether in arkansas and wyoming and even in new york city there are people busting their hinds every single day to make a living. i do think you have to give credit to those folks who are going to work every single day and doing the hard thing. you know, accepting a check is a lot easier than going out and working for it. and so you have to give the credit where it's due to those who are still showing up to make the economy run. >> joey: a lot of them in this building. >> griff: i just want to add i think what he is driving to is a work ethic. and, you know, like maybe some of this and you raise a good point, joey on academia the generations taught to get a free government check. at the same time, maybe there is some parental responsibility here because i remember in my teens i wanted a mope head he

the failures of this administration's lack of enforcement on the border? >> so, griff, my initial reaction is quite honestly look at -- these are token measures and the reason i say that because i have been to eagle pass where those container walls are at. and it's a very short distance. they're not more than a mile. and so -- but all they're really doing is funneling people to points where all these illegal aliens can turn themselves over to national guard, dps, eventually turn over to dhs border patrol. and as we have seen country. so my initial reaction is that it's not enough. we need to defund this invasion. the republican congress needs to defund the invasion. there is an extensive network of ngos, contracts with bus companies that are helping, working actually with foreign governments, governments the united nations, to continuously

of protection. should they also get the vaccine? >> i think that is something that we need to sit down and discuss seriously because you have very appropriately pointed out it is an issue and there could be an argument for saying what you said. >> joey: doctor, was it ever ethical to down play natural immunity the way they did for so long. >> no. it was unethical but they hunter biden any research that came out in support of natural immunity and there were over 100 articles. if you look, joey, at the top articles in the scientific literature in the journal of the american medical association, in the past year, that is our number one circulating journal in medicine they were, the mrna vaccine found in breast milk. myocarditis from the vaccine itself and number three natural immunity. what does it say that the top three discussed in circulated research studies of the year were studies that dr. fauci either down played or did not

fund in any part of the nih? >> joey: republicans are taking over congress they say they are going to investigate and get answers. dr. fauci in his retirement he says he wants to go do public speaking. get affiliated with the university and write a memoir. it sounds to me he thinks he is a retiring president because that's what they all do. i think republicans are going to have something else to say about that. what happens with our cdc and nih with this federal level infectious disease, what happens with him stepping down? does anything change at all? >> well, first of all, i should say i do think dr. fauci has been helpful in warning people about the severity of covid and encouraging high risk americans to get vaccinated. i think he is well-intended and i personally believe he is a gentleman and he loves this country. but his track record on running niaid is a total failure. if you look at one of the biggest changes he could make right now in his outgoing on his last day is to get rid of the

about? >> i have been to a number of house fires before, but usually it's only to assist with traffic control. this was the first one where there was actually people that were trapped inside that had to get out of there. >> so officer harper, knowing who made the phone call, and when this call came in. did you realize when you showed up to the house that you guys were going to turn into firefighters for the day and you were going to have to go in and rescue this couple when you opened that door? >> once officer thomas told me that there was another person inside, i mean, everything happened so fast. i didn't give it too much thought. i just took action and did the best i could. >> so you are both veteran police officers. aren't rookies, where do you continue to find the courage to go into terrible situations like this and have it come out where everybody is doing okay? >> you know, you don't really put much thought into the moment, to be honest.
