dan. >> rich, if bryan kohberger does in fact waive extradition as his lawyer in pennsylvania says he could be back in the state of idaho as early as tuesday nights. in front of a judge hearing court as early as wednesday facing those four counts of first-degree murder. then they will have to unseal that probable cause affidavit which will lay out a lot of the evidence in this case. but moscow police say their work on this case is far from over. now they are trying to build a solid prosecution by answering the question, why? and what led up to the murders customer to that and they're still getting help from the public. >> we got 400 phone calls within the first hour after the press conference which is great. but we are trying to build this picture now of him, who he is, his history, how we got to this event. why this event occurred. folks we know police searched kohberger's apartment on the campus of washington state

university per he has lived here since august when he started his doctoral program in criminology. the apartment is less than 10 miles, about a 10 minute drive for the murder scene. police also searched general's office on the wsu campus but he was a teaching assistant working and taking classes right up until the week before christmas, a month after the murders but we learn investigators discern zeroing in on kohlberg or the innate left behind at the crime scene was a key and because he has no prior convictions, they use genetic genealogy to make a link. >> it is an understatement to say it isn't evidence rich environment because there is so much biological evidence but be very, very bloodied, horrible it was pure butchery on the part of this perpetrator. that apparently is what has happened. >> kohlberg or attorney in pennsylvania it said he's eager to be exonerated and he will get

kohberger are getting ready to mount a robust defense. it is my understanding from a source that they went into courts. they were going to clean this place up, they went into court meeting the lawyers for kohberger and got an order from a judge stopping the cleaning up of this crime scene that is over my shoulder. molly: defender also said he plans to waive his extradition moved back to idaho swiftly because he is quote eager to be exonerated. what do you make of that? >> you know, i have studied kohberger since his arrest. i believe you have someone who believes they have committed the perfect crime. and as a result of that, he is eager to get back here to mix it up with the authorities i

believe to try to show them that he has in fact committed the perfect crime. but molly, i can tell you there's no such thing as a perfect crime. it is my belief that the law enforcement have gathered sufficient evidence, not only do they have the dna evidence, but we have also been told, molly, there were some defensive wounds. meeting some of the victim fought back. so therefore they may have some directed nexus with kohberger in the evidence and the victims in this case. and also they have that white vehicle. they are processing a white vehicle that they confiscated from kohberger that he drove 2000 miles across country. that vehicle is going to be significant. i think they're definitely going to be able to find evidence they are. i think they've got a great deal of independent evidence in this case. molly: you mention some of the

things that may have helped lead to his arrest. he also extensively hasn't trained in and studied criminal justice, working toward his phd in a nearby community. when he was arrested she reportedly said to them investigators asked if anyone else had been arrested. should investigators be conscious of someone who has perhaps studied the subject matter and it may be more manipulative than other sus suspects? >> absolutely, molly. the big question is, if he is found guilty and been found to be the killer of these four young people, the big question is has he killed before? so law enforcement is clearly looking into this. this was a phd criminology major. so quite naturally he knows a great deal about crime. in the question is and what

america will want to know what the citizens out here want to know and moscow, idaho that is what was the motive behind the killing of these four young people? >> one of the other things we are potentially looking forward to is the affidavit for the four charges in getting more details once the suspect actually has backed idaho. we spent so much time there on the ground and now we have the name of the suspect. there you are back in the sick over this this case unfolded from the beginning. i want to get your insights now as you are there on the ground, what you are thinking. >> my thinking is before the families that are involved in this, molly. they are children. they brought their children appeared to go to school, to get an education. and then unfortunately they have had to come back down from their homes and pick up the bodies of their loved ones. and right now they want closure. they want the person who killed
