constituents want to see forward momentum. came to congress to make sure we have the opportunity to be a voice for our district, for our people and our family. right now we have record high inflation and record deficit and record spending, that is not held accountable until house gets act in order, we are the last safeguard against presidency and senate that is compliant. us getting together as a team, here is what i know, this is a healthy process, it gets everybody on the same page and very first important vote. the speaker is not what decides this agenda, it is members of the house of representatives. we will be in stronger position going forward to tackle key issues, national security, border security, runaway inflation, it upon hads every american better their life. >> todd: are you aware of

anything behind the scenes in the midnight to 5 a.m. hours that will put kevin mccarthy across the finish line? >> we met as a freshman class last night to speak to folks on both sides, who want to have a speaker that was someone other than mccarthy and in the 91% of folks who wanted a leader like mccarthy, he was able to step in day one and do this. we have forward momentum on this, these are conversations you have in big diverse family like a republican conference. we had good conversation last night and brought people who had different thoughts to say we're all committed being able to move forward on key agenda items. mccarthy will push forward on this, i have not seen anything come out of that remaining 9% that says they are going to change other than they have looked at several different potential nominees. again, we've had 60 days to get through the process and haven't got a plan out of it.

i'm focused who will deliver objectively a plan moving forward, whoever the speaker may be. >> ashley: you said someone like mccarthy, did they give names? >> no, no plan that i've heard from the other side on this, in fact, several of them have changed their votes repeatedly, i hear. i think intent is good, they want a full conversation that brings the entire conference together. i'm a freshman here, first week on the job, but i want somebody that will be able to move forward a plan that brings all 220 plus members of this conference to be able to vote on important bills that come next. >> ashley: what point does mccarthy say i have to bow out, we cannot move forward and need somebody everyone agrees on. when you think about it, if this handful of dozen people are causing this much stalling, don't you think it will happen

in the future and there will not be anything done? >> this is not about mccarthy, this is about the republican conference and what to do if we work together as a team. there has to be collaboration amongst the group. we don't want small group deciding in this vote, every vote going forward if they don't get something they want, they get to decide the entire narrative. i believe most want to come together and pragmatically move forward, key pieces of legislation, passing bills that must be passed early on. we'll continue to go through, and remember, this is first going into day three, of what will be a very long two-year process. this in nie opinion is healthy conversation across the board, we get this right and can be successful for the next 24 months. >> todd: it has been tough to nail down specifics of what they want, they want control of the rules committee and

appropriations committee. anything mccarthy could do to sway their vote to him or are we past that point? >> i haven't heard revised requests, i know for the last 60 days we worked in good faith in conference, transparnotally, i would like to see written requests be written down. this is not just about 20 people, this is about 220 people and about 350 million americans who want to see a functioning government. anybody who has additional request needs to bring that before the conference like with a rules request. you have to remember, we have nearly 200 plus votes, move forward in electing a speaker and can do it today if there are additional concerns, bring them forward and be transparent, this makes republicans good on this fact, we've put forward a plan
