5:01 pm
one of those position you give to elderly men who campaigned from the basement. if you want to be the guy secon in line you have to work for it. kevin mccarthy has worked for this week, in matter what you think of him becoming you get the feeling he would crawl nake through sewer to get this gig. if you take a deep breath and you think about it for a second nothing we have seen in washington recently is none of it qualifies is especially unusual or even bad, this is what democracy looks like when you get up close, i want one thing, i want another thing you schedule a vote to see who gets it or in this case, votes, but how is that disaster? it's not a disaster it's how that system is supposed to work very don't tell that moron community that. they're too overwrought to hear you, watch. >> and epic fail in stunning

humiliation for kevin mccarthy who took the need for donald trump than gave away the store to the frame of his party. >> you can construct the elements with extremism, and incompetence more perfectly the the last 12 hours on the republican side in the house. >> it's embarrassing. now there are a lot of hard feelings on both sides. if you hit 90 percent of the caucus, 90 percent of the caucu is standing firmly behind him. >> they are putting on a show. >> they decided to pull the pin on the grenade and toss it on themselves fred. >> what an extraordinary moment of political failure by a political party. >> this is the same brain trust that brought you almost two years ago january 6th. >> the way they have gone about trying to achieve these demands has it terraced end up between

them in the overwhelming number of people in their congress. >> they are so excitable. the failure to make it super easy and simple for kevin mc carthy's extremism. it's just embarrassing. it's pornography says another. he got so upset watching the proceedings he compared the vot in congress to an exploding han grenades. there was smoke and fire and shrapnel because some people would not vote for kevin mc carthy. then another one of the buffoon and the clip you just saw calle the whole thing terrorism which is the remorseless use of violence against a civilian population to effect a politica move so chip roi is osama bin laden, hunter him down in his cave. dan crenshaw of texas filling the role said virtually the sam

thing yesterday anybody who doesn't support kevin mccarthy for speaker is a terrorist. in crenshaw's voice seemed to crack with emotion and he said he meant it. what is going on here exactly? why are people so upset? part of it is political, dan crenshaw is committed neoliberal . and then cringe crenshaw knows that kevin mccarthy is the least conservative speaker he i likely to get ever. they all think that. watch one of them make the case. >> they are is this widespread myth on many of my conservative brethren that electable makes you more moderates, that being electable makes you part of the establishment. there is no establishment, if there was an establishment, thi wouldn't be happening. kevin mccarthy would be one of the two or three most conservative riffs publican speakers in u.s. history, at
5:05 pm
least in the last 100 years. paul ryan was the most conservative speaker, but the idea that being part of the is the fantasy that these guys are getting high on. this is nonsense. >> tucker: you know what, scolds the moron, he is conservative enough for you to shut up and accept him otherwis we're going to call you names. okay, tough guy, settle down. what you're seeing here is the usual left right ideological politics, but that is not all that is going on. actually, most politicians aren't very ideological. they wouldn't know an idea if they got in the shower with them . many are agnostic about it for the one thing every politician has in common, everyone is that everyone of them wants to win elections for that is the goal. by that measure, kevin mc carthy is underwhelmed, the red wave, we were all promised, remember that? it didn't materialize last time.
5:06 pm
the midterms were a crushing disappointment. that is not kevin mccarthy's fault if you want to blame a person, blame mitch mcconnell. kevin mccarthy was the head republican in the house when that happened when that debacle happened, and he shares responsibility for, that is true . but you never know that from listening to republican leaders in washington. they never atoned they have no plans to change for they like t ignore what happened in novembe and move on as if everything is fine that means mcconnell continuing to be the minority leader, that means mccarthy is speaker, that means mcdaniel still running the rnc, the seam team in place two months ago. how does that work exactly? if i crash her car, you don't get me another car to park unti i take a the driving lesson, right? not in washington. have another car more expensive because if there is one thing washington hates, on a bipartisan basis it's
5:07 pm
accountability, and unfortunately the republican party is no different in that n one is ever punished for failur or ever forced to explain how those failures happen. as a result of that lack of accountability, no one ever improves. everybody just keeps getting rewarded for producing the same disastrous thing great if you raise your kids like that, they would be in prison. may be the main thing making people mad is that. republican voters see the same people in charge producing the same mediocre results paying a punch more attention to lobbyists than them. that's not democracy that's the opposite of democracy. watching this drives them insane . most people don't hate kevin mc carthy is a man, he's no mitch mcconnell, he's a pretty nice guy actually, but most normal people do hate the syste that keeps promoting kevin mc carthy for turning in a subpar performance.
5:08 pm
so say what you will about the effort to keep him from becomin the speaker of the terrorism as we're calling it in washington for that effort has challenged the current system and a meaningful way. kevin mccarthy may end and become speaker of the house he likely will because nobody seem to be able to challenge him directly so he will get it by default, but here's the critica thing to remember, if he does become speaker, by the time he become speaker, he will have learned a lot, he will have publicly acknowledged his failures, he will have been forced to face the people he ha disappointed both in the congress and outside of it and he will have promised to change. so here we will have suffering accountability, and repentance, those are not bad things, no, those are the best things. those are the heart wrenching life experiences that turned th mediocre into decent people. kevin mccarthy never would've done any of that unless he was
5:09 pm
forced. then of us would ever do any of that unless we're forced to. so 20 of his colleagues have forced him to become better in the rest of us want to be very grateful to them for doing it because nobody else was. the first person we tuned to when things get confusing and weird because he make sense of the world gone crazy. thank you for coming on tonight. how do you interpret let's coming with happening? >> i agree with you, it's all your tory as long as it's got a limit to it. i think a day, two days, three days, they are going to hammer the message that they are a conservative party and it hasn' been acting very conservatively. i think you gave kevin mc carthy credit, he didn't quit and he didn't quit like paul ryan when he lost that conservative constituent he sai i'm going to deal with these people. mccarthy seven going to deal with them. at think a lot of the emotions
5:10 pm
are that we only have one third of the government, all of our dreams to stop this madness are now invested in the house and w have this crazy spending bill that the senate rushed through and we only have one alternativ and that is these investigations . everybody wants unity so we can have at least some chance to stop this collective madness that country is suffering from. we lost the presidency, we should've won the senate we los that. kevin mccarthy for all of his centrism, he did get 14 seeds i 2020, he did get nine changed seats this election, he did get the house, that's the only thin he got. i think if i understand you right you're saying that this i good because it's going to remind him that he can't act like the senate and he's got to be conservative and we've got t get the house back, the senate, we've got the house back we've got to get the senate.
5:11 pm
we've got to stop this. this has been helpful up to a point, but when you look across the aisle and see these and they've got disciplined. when they vote, they don't have one dissident. when people wanted to cut off ukraine, she guillotined them and that was it. we are up against a formidable force that has the senate, they've got the presidency, and they've got ironclad discipline in prison as a minority. we've got to be realistic that if we don't stick together, we are going to hang separately. i think kevin mccarthy deserves to be speaker, i think he's got a very valuable messag and he can't ignore these peopl and the way that paul ryan did. i think they will be the better for it if they can in the next 48 hours come up with a speaker and get these investigations going. we really need to know what happened to this country. i think it's almost like a coup
5:12 pm
we didn't even know, something' happened to the country and thi is the only chance we have an we've got to unite behind mc carthy and the house through all the fault and get to the bottom of it. i think he's got that message because he's given a lot of concessions to conservatives. >> i think i'm probably only on of the people in tv that is sympathetic to the accountability this is providing . but i have to say in the end, three days in you're wondering if you're going to challenge kevin mccarthy, why doesn't someone stay stand up and say i'm doing it. someone credible, and the fact that again, i think i'm the mos sympathetic to this effort. remains sympathetic, but isn't that kind of the test, if you can't take the mask off and say i'm running against you, they how can you run the house? >> because we know what would happen if one of their people stood up, there is going to be ten or 15 moderates that say i
5:13 pm
won't vote for him. and what's looming in the background of all of this is somebody either on one side or the other is going to cut a dea with the democrats to get the house working and that is a redline. when that happens you might as well give up because you just betrayed millions of voters. they have more votes than the popular vote for conservative republicans than the democrats and you have a oath, you are bound to the people to get something done, and you break it , if one person makes a deal with the democrats, then everybody has been betrayed, so i don't think they have an alternative except the democrats , they can't do that. and i think both sides have got to get some unity and say we've got a problem in this country and it has been hijacked by left-wing people and it's the 11th hour and we are the only branch of government that offer millions of people hope.
5:14 pm
in get to it. >> for what it's worth, we keep hearing in some detail, so were not just dismissing them as rumors that they are close to a deal. we can't confirm that part. >> i think he is going to win and i think he will be a better speaker for all of this if it ends within 48 hours brickey humiliation is good for people. thank you. good to see you tonight. >> thank you. >> so this effort to choose a speaker is underway, but it's not the only leadership for the republican party has to pick a new chairman of the rnc. dylan as running and she joins us to explain her plan. very thank you so much, i have to say, my first question is maybe you don't want to enter this, i don't understand why republicans seem to have this instinct to reward failure and
5:15 pm
mediocrity. given the record, how could anybody, how could any rnc number 48 consider supporting that person? i don't understand it. >> one thing kevin mccarthy has going for him is that he hasn't failed for the last six years as the speaker of the house. that is something he has in his column. by can't say the same for the incumbent at the rnc, she's a nice person but over the last six years we've lost the house, the senate, and the white house worse than that, we have a sclerotic system at the rnc wer members have almost no say we don't get to look at the line item budget if you're on deck ajit committee. we made more voter contacts or we should get an a for effort and this election cycle when anybody paying attention can se that the effort has no clothes, you look around, we have no pla

for harnessing the new laws forgetting people's ballots to the ballot boxes early. we blame candidate selection when you look at the candidates that the democrats got elected. john fetterman he's had some challenges in even articulating words, so the excuses that are trotted out or what is frankly embarrassing. it's not embarrassing to have a leadership debate it's not embarrassing to bring up some o the failures i think that's goo fiduciary policy and an organization, but instead, i'm getting criticized for running against the chair because it is unseemly. i think it's exactly how democracy should work and how our constitutional republic should work very same things yo are seeing in dc, they are some of the same issues we have at the republican national committee and it's because there's been no debate for so many years. i think we can only go up for here.
5:17 pm
we haven't won the last several election cycles, but i think if we acknowledge our failures and tighten our belts, stop wasting donor money, focus on election integrity and making sure we ge people's ballots into the ballo box is pretty basic. then be more forward-looking on technology involving younger voters. don't patronize them and cut ou that middlemen of consultants who are running congress and running the republican national committee. we would be so far ahead, our ideas are superior our candidates are better, there is no reason we can't win if we make the necessary challenges brickey get you mentioned money three times. the truth, and anyone who lives in washington knows there is a lot of corruption. a lot, so it would be nice to have somebody. harmeet dhillon, thank you for being here. >> thank you,. >> one father trying to stop hi

because the speaker of the hous blocked those bills from passage . the legislature did nothing. the governor did not mobilize the agencies to protect texas children from these abusive procedures, did nothing. i couldn't argue the executive branch to move, i thought i would get relief and the appellate courts, in the judicial branch and i go up to the texas supreme court and the determined absurdly, that my wife is no more likely to transition my son in california under the sink and worry laws then she would in texas. and absurdly, not even reading claims that we can enforce an injunction against her in california when a plain reading of the bill says they will not enforce these injunctions, they will not obey subpoenas, they will not obey extradition in will not return the children under any circumstance. gig at some point all of these children are going to be adults and look at us the adults that should have been protecting them .
