10:00 pm
before i proceed any further, let me begin by acknowledging the distinguish gently from the great state of california, the iconic, the herat, the legendar speaker ameritech, nancy bearra. nancy pelosi. is about how the gavel to kevin mccarthy, who on the 15th but was finally elected. >> speaker pelosi but without i history as the greatest speaker of all time. throughout her time in congress she has been the legendary
10:01 pm
legislator, a fabulous facilitator and a no nonsense negotiator. we know that nancy pelosi is a woman of faith at a loving wife and a mother grandmother of nine , a defender of democracy, a voice for the voiceless and a powerful champion for the children come of the climate charm city. the congress and the country an the constitution, thank you, madam speaker speaker for all that you have done it it is an honor to stand on your broad shoulders. as well as the shoulders of the great -- two consequential theaters in their own right.
10:02 pm
the scripture says in galatians let us not become weary. and doing good. for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not giv up. over the last two years, house democrats in partnership with president five and our colleagues in the set have been hard at work on behalf of the american people, getting big things done. we passed the american rescue plan, save the economy from a deep recession. put shots of arms and money in pockets and kids back in school. past the infrastructure investment and child act to create millions of good paying jobs.
10:03 pm
fixed or crumbling bridges and roads. ed ensure high speed internet access in community. we passed gun safety legislatio for the first time in 30 years that will save lives that and make our communities safe.care r health care costs and drive down the high price of life
10:04 pm
saving prescription drugs for millions of americans. it was one of the most consequential congresses in american history. president biden gets the job done and the d in democrat stands for deliver joe biden extra years over the next over the next two years. as we begin this one hundred and eighteen congress. let us continue to fight for lower cost. >> let us continue to fight in this congress for better paying jobs. let us continue to fight in this congress for safer communities. let us continue to fight in
10:05 pm
this congress to defend democracy. let us continue to fight in this congress to put and protect the public interest . let us continue to fight in this congress for economic opportunity. in every single zip code and let us continue to fight in this congress for reproductive freedom. >> because as democrats, we do believe in a country for everyone. >> we do believe in a country for everyone, a country that provides for the poor, works for working families, makes sense for the middle class,
10:06 pm
stands up for senior citizens, innovates in inner city, strengthened suburban communities, helps help the heartland and revitalize this rural america. >> we believe in a country with liberty and justice for all, equal protection under the law, free and fair elections, and yes, we believe in a country with the peaceful transfer of power. we believe that in america, our diversity is a strength. it is not a weakness in economic strength. the competitive strength, the cultural strength. our diversity is a strength. it is not a weakness. we are gorgeous mosaic of people from throughout
10:07 pm
the world. as john lewis would sometimes remind us on this floor. we may have come over on different ships, but we're all in the same boat now. >> we are white, we are black, we are latino. we are asian. we are native american. we are christian . we are jewish. we are muslim. we are hindu. we are religious. we are secular. we are . we are straight. we are young. we are older. we are women. we are men . we are citizens. we are dreamers. out of many. we are one . >> that's what makes america a great country. and no matter what kind of haters are trying to divide us , we're not going to let anyone take that away from us . not now, not ever. this is the united states of of america, a land of opportunity
10:08 pm
. the fact that i'm able to stand up here today is another data point in that narrative. i was born in brooklyn hospital ,raised in a working class neighborhood in crown heights, grew up in the cornerstone baptist church, started off in the cradle roll department. somehow survived the violence of the crack cocaine epidemic. and wound up here in the united states congress as the highest ranking democrat in the house of representatives. >> america, truly a land of opportunity, government of the people, by the people and for the people. so on this first day, let commit to the american dream a dream that promises that if
10:09 pm
you work hard and play by the rules, you should be able to provide a comfortable living for yourself and for your family. educate your children, purchase a home and one day retire with grace and dignity. let us commit on this first day to lift up the american dream for every single person in this nation. now, i recognize that this is a moment of transition as we transition from one congress to the next from one majority to the next from a year of from a year of accomplishment, a year of accomplishment to a year of ambiguity. >> a moment of transition.
10:10 pm
the american people, understandably, after the events of this week, recognize that the congress is at a fork in the road and are asking the question, what direction will we choose on this first day? i do not pretend to answer that question on behalf of my colleagues on the other side of the aisle. >> but we do extend our hand of partnership to you and want to make clear that we extend and intend to try to find common ground whenever and wherever possible on behalf of the american people.
10:11 pm
not as democrats, not as republicans. not as independents, but as americans. but i also want to make clear that we will never compromise our principles. house democrats will always put american values over autocracy, benevolence over bigotry, the constitution over the democracy, over demagogues economic opportunity, over extremism, freedom, over fascism, governing over gaslighting, hopefulness, over hatred and closing over isolation. justice over judicial overreach, knowledge over kangaroo courts, liberty, over
10:12 pm
limitation. maturity over mar-a-lago. normalcy over negativity, opportunity over obstruction. people over politics, quality of life. issues over chewing reason over racism, substance over slander, triumph over tyranny, understanding over ugliness, voting rights over voter suppression, working families over the well-connected zinnia over xenophobia. yes, we can overuse can't do it and zealous representation over zero sum compensation. we will always do the right thing by the american people. so let us not grow weary of doing good for the american people will reap the benefit of the harvest if we do not give up.
10:13 pm
god bless you. god bless the house. and god bless the united states of america. it is now my solemn responsibility to hand over the people's gavel to a son of bakersfield, a former small business, a proud product of a firefighter's household. the gentleman from the great state of california and the next speaker of the one hundred and eighteenth congress, kevin mccarthy,
10:14 pm
that was easy, huh? >> i never thought we'd get up here. thank you. minority leader jefferys. hucky, i've got to warn you, two years ago i got 100% of the vote from my conference.
10:15 pm
there's somebody else i want to thank. >> the gentle lady who served as our presiding officer this week, our clerk, cheryl johnson. thank you. you know, my father always told me it's not how you start. >> it's how you finish. >> and now we need to finish strong for the american people.
10:16 pm
you know, i'm the son of a fireman and a grandchild of immigrants can rise to the highest position in the most important legislative body in our country. and if my colleague hakeem jeffries, with his life story can rise to lead his party, then opportunity and democracy still thrive. in america. >> its leader, jefferys, there will be times we agree, and many times we will differ. i promise our debates will be passionate, but they will never
10:17 pm
be personal. that's my commitment to you. and now the hard work begins. what we do here today. next week, next month, next year, we'll set the tone for everything that follows tonight. >> i want to talk directly to the american people as speaker of the house, my ultimate responsibility is not to my party, my conference or even our congress. my responsibility, our responsibility is to our country. >> two months ago, you voted
10:18 pm
for a new direction for our country. you embraced our commitment to america, and now we're going to keep our commitment to you. >> it's a commitment for an economy that's strong. we could fill up your tank of gas and feed your family. we're paychecks grow and not shrink. it's a commitment for a nation that's safe , where communities are protected by law enforcement is respected and criminals are prosecuted. >> a commitment for the future that's built on freedom, where children come first and are
10:19 pm
taught to dream big because in america, dreams can still come true. a commitment for a government that is held accountable where americans get the answers they want, need and deserve. our system is built on checks and balances. it's time for us to be a check and provide some balance. >> the president's policies. there is nothing more important to making it possible for american families to live and enjoy the lives they deserve. that is why we commit to stop wasteful washington spending to lower the price of groceries ,gas, cars, housing and stop the rising national debt.
10:20 pm
we pledge to cut the regulatory burden lower energy costs for families and create good paying jobs for workers by unleashing reliable, abundant american made energy. i know the night is late, but when we come back , our very first bill really pilt the funding for eighty seven thousand.
10:21 pm
you see, we believe government should be to help you, not go after you. >> we're going to pass bills to fix the nation's urgent challenges from wide open southern borders to american last energy policies. to woke indoctrination in our schools. >> we'll also address america's long term challenges. >> the debt and the rise of the chinese communist party congress must speak with one voice on both of these issues. this is why we will end wasteful washington spending from now on . if a federal bureaucrat wants to spend it, they will come
10:22 pm
before us to defend it. >> that's for the chinese communist party. we will create a bi partisan select committee on china to investigate how to bring back the hundreds of thousands of jobs that went to china. and then we will win this economic competition. >> now, speaking of committees, we will hold the swamp accountable for the withdrawal of afghanistan to the origins of covid and to the weaponization of the fbi.
10:23 pm
>> let me be very clear . we will use the power of the purse and the power of the subpoena to get the job done. >> this is something we should all agree upon. we will stand up and speak out for the backbone of our economy, the hard working taxpayer. >> it's night time here in washington, but in some ways it's also like a new beginning ,a fresh start. >> my friends, this chamber
10:24 pm
is now fully open for all americans to visit. i want to give all americans a personal invitation. you are welcome to see this body at work. no longer will the doors be closed, but the debates will be open for you to witness what happens in the people's house. >> from the committee rooms
10:25 pm
to this floor, we commit to pursue the truth passionately and embrace debate. >> no more one sided inquiry, competing ideas will be put to the test in public so that the best ideas win. but we also pledge to bring congress to the people because the answers have not and will not always be found in washington. >> that's why one of our very first hearings will be held on the southern border.
10:26 pm
>> no more ignoring a crisis of safety and sovereignty. we must secure our border. we must get america back on track. now, on a personal note to my family here and at home, to judy, meghan conner, emily, my brother mark, monica, zach and yes, my mom, bert, i am where i am because you are who you are. >> you can stay.
10:27 pm
>> i'd also like to thank my constituents in california. central valley. yes. and especially my hometown of bakersfield. i don't know if you're familiar with music, but as buck owens sings, how many of you that sit and judge me have ever walked the streets of bakersfield? well, i've walked those streets my entire life. i know it's people. they're hard working and relentless, optimistic about our future. and i'm very honored to have
10:28 pm
the opportunity to represent. i am a son of a firefighter. i saw firsthand what it means to have hard work, leadership and service to others. can change people's lives. >> and that is exactly why we are here today, to serve you, the people we come here with , the support of our families and the faith of our neighbors to be their voice in washington. for all the wives and husbands ,children and parents who are watching a loved one to be sworn in. i knew it took a couple extra days. i'll be honest. it's not how i had it planned. >> i want you to remember this moment. >> take it in. your loved ones are about to make history. my colleagues and i thank you for your understanding and your
10:29 pm
sacrifice. and we will work every day to make you proud. >> my most favorite spot in this building is not in this chamber. it's in the chamber. they met before in statuary hall. it's my favorite place to take people on a tour. see, that's where abraham lincoln served was just a one term congressman sat in the back. i like to go to that spot and i like to stand where he stood. i like to do it at night when people aren't around. i like to look over and look at the clock because that's the same clock and same view that abraham lincoln saw. >> i've watched lincoln serve and the greatest challenge to our constitution, the civil
10:30 pm
war. >> i watched him take people who were rivals and put them together. i watched at a time he did not know if a nation could sustain itself, but he dreamt of a future and built a railroad across the nation. i want us to all take a moment. one time that you were here. i want you to stand there. i want you to look and i want you to thank if america could do it, then we can do it. now one more time. >> you know, abraham lincoln gave his life in service
10:31 pm
to this country. one is most important observations about america applies today as much as it did. one hundred and sixty years ago. he said, we are striving to maintain the government and institutions of our fathers and to transmit them to our children. and our children's children's forever. my fellow americans, that is still our mission today. >> this moment calls for restoring trust within our country and with each other. in that spirit, i will work with anyone and everyone who shares our passion to deliver a better future for the nation. i hope you'll join me as a congress. we can only operate if we
10:32 pm
cooperate. my door will be open. i'd like you to come by . i want you to see as you walk down the hall, a large portrait of lincoln. i want you to go into that conference room. i want you to see another portrait. my members know of this. it's a washington crossing. the delaware, you all know the story. it happened on christmas. seventeen seventy six . >> there was no iphone to take a picture. >> people wonder when it was painted. it wasn't painted by someone who was there. it was painted in 1850 and eighteen fifty one . he was an immigrant who lived in america. emanuel, you know why he
10:33 pm
painted it? because he knew america was more than a country. >> america was an idea. he went home to germany and he wanted germany to have a revolution. based upon the values and freedoms that we defend every day. >> his talent was art. so he believed if he painted this painting, he could inspire his countrymen to rise up for the idea of freedom. how many historians will tell you he didn't get it correct? they'll tell you. >> washington crossed on a durham boat, but he paints it with washington in a rowboat. you see thirteen people, but only twelve faces. you see washington standing up in a rowboat in the middle of winter, wearing a ceremonial uniform with his hand on his chest. >> he looks so stoic. you look at that man, you say
10:34 pm
i follow him anywhere. you probably believe that he never lost the battle. but history will tell us at that moment. at that time, he had only lost. we had never won. >> you see, that was the night of our first victory as a nation when we surprised the hessians. >> but when you look that painting, don't look at washington. i want you to look at who's in the boat. you see the second rower in the beret. >> he's scottish, the person directly across the green rowing in the exact same cadence as an african-american. >> you come down right to the middle in the red. the person who's rowing the strongest is a woman. and in the very back is a native american. >> i don't know, from a historic fact if they were in
10:35 pm
the boat that night. >> but this young immigrant who had lived in america, that's who he believed would be in the boat. the second to last person is a farmer. he could be from bakersville. >> not sure his hand goes across his face. people debate this part. but what i see is the hand of the thirteenth person. nobody sees. you see what i believe emmanuel was saying is here we are battling for the creation of the idea of freedom that every individual is equal, not a perfect nation, but striving to be a more perfect union, having lost every battle against the greatest challenge with the strongest nation having lost them all but willing to do it on our holiest of nights. >> with a hand reached out
10:36 pm
and asking if you would join. that's as true today as it was then. if we let everybody in the boat ,if we row in the same cadence together, there is no obstacle this body can overcome for this nation. >> it is time for us to be the voice and worthy of their vote. let me close with this. i may not know all of you. >> some of you are new , but i hope one thing is clear after this week, i never give up
10:37 pm
. i make this promise. i'll never give up for you, the american people. and i will never give up on keeping our commitment to america, our nation is worth fighting for. our rights are worth fighting for. our dreams are worth fighting for. >> our future is worth fighting for. >> therefore, with love for
10:38 pm
this country and charity for each other. let us now take our oath and be worthy of the office on which we are about to enter. god bless everybody in this chamber and god bless america. >> not so fast. i have to sworn in first. sit down. i am now ready to take the oath of office. i want to ask the dean of the house, the honorable hal rogers of kentucky. >> one of my first mentors to administer the oath of the office. >> first, we want to offer
10:39 pm
a bipartisan congratulations to the gentleman from california. now. >> will the speaker designate will raise his right hand ? do you solemnly swear that you will support and defend the constitution of the united states against all enemies? foreign and domestic, that you will bear true faith and allegiance to the same that you take this obligation freely without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion, and that you will well, and faithfully discharge the duties of the office on which you're about to enter. so help you god ? yes, i do. congratulations and godspeed. >> thank.
10:40 pm
according to the president , the chair will swear in the members elect and mass the members elect rise. the chair will now administer the oath of the office. all members elect will raise their right hand . do you solemnly swear or affirm that you will support and defend the constitution of the united states against all enemies, foreign and domestic, that you will bear true faith and allegiance to the same , that you take this obligation freely without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion, and that you will well and faithfully discharge
10:41 pm
the duties of the office on which you are about to enter. so help you god . >> congratulations for the one hundred and eighty
10:42 pm
nine . all, we got a little more business. i hope that was worth the wait. the chair recognizes the gentlewoman from new york , mr. swanwick. it is my humbled honor to be the first to address you from the floor of the people's house . >> as mr. speaker, mr. speaker, as chair of the republican conference, i am directed by that conference to notify the house officially that the republican members have selected as majority leader. >> the gentleman from louisiana, mr. steve scalise,
10:43 pm
the chair recognizes the gentleman from california, mr. aguilar, mr. speaker is the chair of the democratic caucus. i've been directed to report to the house that the democratic members have selected as minority leader. the gentleman from new york , mr. hakeem jeffries, the chair recognizes the gentleman from new york , mr. phonic. mr speaker, as chair of the republican conference, i am directed by that conference to notify the house officially that the republican members have selected as majority whip. the gentleman from minnesota, mr. tom emmer, the chair
10:44 pm
recognizes the gentleman from california, mr. aguilar, mr speaker, as chairman of the democratic caucus, i have been directed to report to the house that the democratic members have selected as minority whip the distinguished gentlewoman from massachusetts, the honorable katherine clark, the noble. >> the chair recognizes the gentlewoman from new york , mr. phonic. mr speaker, i offer a privileged resolution and ask for its immediate consideration. >> the clerk will report the resolution house resolution one resolve that cheryl l. johnson of the state of louisiana be and is hereby
10:45 pm
chosen clerk of the house of representatives, that katherine spindler of the commonwealth of virginia be and is hereby chosen chief administrative officer of the house of representatives and reverend dr. grun. reverend dr. margaret run kebede of the commonwealth of pennsylvania be in is hereby chosen chaplain of the house of representatives. the gentleman from new york , mr mr speaker, i yield to the gentleman from california, mr. aguilar. for the purpose of offering an amendment. mr speaker, i have an amendment to the resolution, but before offering the amendment, i request that there be a division of the question on the resolution said that we may have a separate vote on the chaplain. >> the question will be divided . the question is on agreeing to that portion of the resolution, providing for the election of the chaplain. those in favor say those opposed. the ayes have it.
10:46 pm
this portion of the resolution is agreed to and without objection, the motion to consider is laid on the table. now, if we could just have all votes like that, don't blame me for hoping the gentleman from california, mr speaker, i offer an amendment to the resolution offered by the gentlewoman from new york . >> the clerk will report the amendment amendment offered by mr. aguilar of california for the remainder of house resolution, one that tarzia jackson of the state of new york be and is hereby chosen clerk of the well. >> there you have the procedural stuff will go on for some time now. but the one hundred and eighteen congress is official and the kid from bakersfield, california, kevin mccarthy, is now the speaker of the house. it took a while and kevin mccarthy, who started his speech saying that was easy and ended it by saying, i never give up and he did not give up fifty rounds of ballots before
10:47 pm
kevin mccarthy. mccarthy got the needed votes become the speaker of the house. let's bring in the senior congressional correspondent, chad pergram, who has got a guiding us through this all night. chad, this was this was quite the event. >> i haven't seen a election quite like this. it started on tuesday, january , when you're supposed to do so under the constitution, ends in the wee hours of january 7th here. still, you know, california time still january 6th out there, but january 7th here in the east at this point, you know what? i'm struck by a couple of things. we thought that they were going to consider this rules package tonight. that's not going to happen. are probably going to do that on monday. that will set the parameters for how they will run the house of representatives. and that's really something that was key to getting some of these mccarthy naysayers on board because they like what's in there, but they need to pass that. so that will be the first big set of votes in the house of representatives on monday. the other thing that i'm struck is we just got that document tonight about eight o'clock
10:48 pm
eastern time. it was fifty five pages. and one of the provisions that republicans promised is their members to have a full 72 hours ,a full three days to consider resolutions. so they didn't have the full text of this. if they were going to consider this tonight, here's the other point i would make is they often the republicans would often criticize the democrats for for ramming big bills through in the dead of night when we thought that vote was going to happen tonight. that's not going to be the case. but here it took them until late at night in the wee hours of a saturday morning. before they elected the speaker of the house because of this protracted process. but they now have the speaker, as you say, the kid from bakersfield, california, two consecutive californians now as the speaker, nancy pelosi, will continue on as a rank and file member after her two separate terms as speaker. but now the gavel belongs to kevin mccarthy. and i'm told just about right now they are finally putting up the nameplate above his office. this is officially the speaker's office.
10:49 pm
you might remember that matt gaits from florida criticized kevin mccarthy for using that office. he wrote a letter to the architect of the capitol criticizing mccarthy, saying, you know, why are you squatting in the speaker's office when it's not clear that you are the speaker? well, guess what? tonight, kevin mccarthy is the speaker of the house. >> no more squatting in the speaker's office. yeah, and that gates went after kevin mccarthy quite a few times over the past week and ended up voting present. chad pergram, great stuff, as always. thank you. so much. i want to bring in jason chaffetz because, jason , we kind of saw this go up and you saw hakeem jeffries, who is now the minority leader, came up there and he spoke for the better part of 11 , 12 , 13 minutes and took a couple of shots at the republican party, talking about qanon, talking about mar-a-lago, maybe unexpected for some in an event like this. >> your thoughts? quite honestly, i thought hakeem jeffries speech was horrific. i think it is inappropriate, ill timed. he has a personal pronoun problem, obviously, and it was
10:50 pm
just the not the right place and time. i can tell you, i was there on the floor five times to be honored. and it's such a tremendous honor to serve your country and to be sworn in. and i sat through a couple different speakers. i had never seen something so atrocious as the way hakeem jeffries handled that. he said it was his he was so bland and cursory about his comments about kevin mccarthy. it's just not the right time and place. on the other hand , i thought kevin mccarthy was pitch perfect. i thought he gave a very eloquent speech. he injected humor in it. and i can tell he was speaking from his heart when he's saying his office is open. he never gives up, that it will never be personal. and i think that was a very important point, that you can disagree on things, but to not be disagreeable. and i just love the way kevin gave that speech. but on the other side of this,
10:51 pm
i think portends how things are going to go. there's just going to be a lot of arguments, but hopefully it doesn't get too personal. >> speaking of the other side, let's bring in kevin wallingham ,because when you talk about the other side, kevin , chuck schumer said tonight that kevin mccarthy's dream job could become his nightmare and you have hakeem jeffries kind of taken a couple of swipes. so so it appears that it's on in the one hundred and eighteen congress, the house of representatives. it really is . i'm actually excited for this new generation of leaders, both in terms of hakeem jeffries and now speaker kevin mccarthy to go at one another. i think it will be civil. i think it will be an important conversation that will have i'll note, hakeem kept our caucus together. two hundred and twelve votes in every single vote . so i think you're seeing fired up democratic side of this house of representatives and saw fisticuffs nearly break out right before this last vote . brad was talking about mike rogers having to be pulled off another member.
10:52 pm
i mean, that was an extraordinary moment on the house of representatives. so i think you're seeing a united democratic party rallying behind hakeem jeffries as our leader. it's going to take the fight to kevin mccarthy. >> certainly. yeah, it's interesting. i wonder if i can claudia tenney, the congresswoman has we've spoken a couple of times in the past couple of days. she's joining us now. and i'd like to quickly get your thoughts, if i can, congresswoman. officially no longer congresswoman elect on what you thought of this night. we thought it was going to be the 14th round. kevin mccarthy was confident and didn't quite get the votes he needed. >> yeah, well, obviously, he was disappointing and it came down to personality conflicts here when some of these members had said they would either vote present or for mccarthy. so we'd have the votes and that's why we didn't adjourn. unfortunately, you know, there were some last minute juggling and we had to go to another vote . it was unfortunate that we're at this point look at as i've said over and over right now, i come from new york . it's one party rule in new york . we have the democrats running everything. we've got an opportunity
10:53 pm
as even though it's a slim majority, we are the only thing that stands between the american people and the chaos in the white house, the authoritarian communism coming from the left. i served in new york state legislature. i served with hakeem jeffries in the new york state legislature. he actually sat right across to me in the legislature. so i know him. i honestly, i was really disappointed with his speech tonight. i thought it was out of order. i thought it was inappropriate for the time i thought it should have been more uplifting and less political , especially after it all of us have been through. and it was certainly not a unifying speech. it's sort of reminiscent of what we saw with joe biden, who promised to be a unifier and has been nothing but a divider. yeah, and social media is kind of echoing some of those comments. congresswoman, thank you so much. i want to lastly bring in, by the way, it is adjourned, the one hundred eighteen congress needs to get to work monday morning. finally, shawn steel, i mean, this was this was event i've known kevin for 30 years. >> he's changed. he's grown.
10:54 pm
i've never seen him better. i've never seen him speak so articulately and in a positive way. and he was the most political person i've ever known in my life. and i know nothing of politicians my own life. he's a brilliant tactician now. he's become more philosophical . but the thing that impressed me the most about kevin , he was poised, the most humiliating experience is that most human beings never even can imagine, you know, this high school election type of thing. and , you know, people looking at you in the eyes and the newspapers and the social media didn't faze him. >> he was positive. he was confident. and , darn it, everything that he predicted came through it. i you know, the fact that he never gives up, but he's also changing or maturing. and i got news for you. he enjoys this job. you think it's going to be a nightmare? this is what he lives for. so i'm excited. he's got an ecological political system around him, very motivated people.
10:55 pm
>> i think is going to be. this is the beginning of a great surprise. >> people are getting to know him and it's going to be a great story, is very proud of bakersfield. the people in bakersfield, friends of mine sent me pictures of them with them. they're very proud of him. kevin mccarthy is now officially the speaker of the house. breaking news coverage brought to you by fox news at night. thank you for watching. i'm trace gallagher. los angeles. >> good night. if you need dental implants, we have great news. reset smile. is a dentist approved more affordable way to replace your missing teeth from home? no. dentist office visits it's required. just go to reset, smile, .com, and order your home impression kit. mail it in and we'll custom make your new smile with our advanced 3d technology using the same material trusted by dentists in millions of devices, you'll enjoy chewing food better and smiling with more confidence. learn more at reset, smile .com. >> your one day is closer than
