you're not doing the form right. back to the resolutions, look, you can keep up with them if you want. i have laid out my philosophy, it's volume, if i hit 40% of my resolutions, i'm a hall of paymenter in baseball, in basketball and in life, i think. 40% -- emily: what would be the one resolution you absolutely cannot fail. you have to pick one that is your primary resolution. will: well, pete already made fun of me, and i did a list of 20, god came in at 19. people on social media were, like, will, god has to be one, and they're right. [cheers and applause] >> the hard work begins. i may not know all of you, some of you are new, but i hope one thing is clear after this week, i never give up. pete: atlanta's eastern time, by the way. drama. it almost felt like you were watching parliament instead of the u.s. house, there was so much going on. this was not going to go to a 15th vote, it didn't appear so, but then minds changed. and just after midnight congressman mccarthy was sworn in as speaker. he earned chants and a standing ovation. >> usa! usa! usa! >> from the great state of california and the next speak or of the 118th congress, kevin mccarthy. [cheers and applause] >> reporter: speaker mccarthy squeezed by with just 216 votes since republicans including lauren boebert and matt gaetz voted present rather than no. democrats backed congressman hakeem jeffries. six republicans in total voted present, and just to illustrate how contentious things became last night, right after the 14th

vote failure, congressman-elect at the time, mike rogers of alabama, had to be to physically restrained after appearing to lung at gaetz. congress was finally sworn in after just one more round. >> that you will well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office on which you are about to enter, so help you god. >> [inaudible] >> congratulations -- [cheers and applause] you are now members of the 118th congress. >> reporter: it was the conclusion of a drama-filled four days of speaker voting, the longest time frame in over 150 years. the stalemate that started tuesday was led by the house freedom caucus was broken as mccarthy agreed to key concessions that included the ability to oust him more easily and an array of spending cuts. here's mcthink speaking on the n the chamber's future. >> there will be times we agree and many times we will differ.

was a tie. 15th vote, kevin mccarthy is the speaker of the house. your reaction. >> okay. i've got a lot to say about thi- [laughter] so just grab your coffee and stand by. a couple things. number one, to the crowd out there that was whining and moaning and wetting their diapers about, oh, my gosh, it's chaos, what a clown show, you can shut your piehole, okay? if this is a constitutional are republic. it's not north korea. we don't go with kim jong un behind closed doors and beat the crap out of people. what we do is we negotiate. we did it on this channel. fox news caroled the majority of this live. -- carried the majority of this live. every single american citizen in this god-peering country that i love so much got to see on live television if you just turned on the tv, you could even turn on c-span, i thinkst free. you don't even have to pay for cable, right? you could have watched your elected representatives in a constitutional republic hash out

their differences in front of the entire world. it was a glorious thing to watch, and i have never been prouder of our country. i want to say to the 20 the holdouts who got massive concessions that will control spending and bring more sanity to the house, i want to thank you on behalf of the conservative movement. because think about it, in less hand fife day -- in less than five dayses, you probably got more done to restrain spending in the next couple of years than a lot of crap talkers in the republican party did in the last 50. pete: it's true. >> so, again, to the hueneme, moany -- to the hueneme, moany crowd, people will remember this, you're damn right. it's one of the first times a bunch. of elected conservatives went to congress, said they were going to stand up for something and then actually did it, and that's what i'm going to remember. emily: dan, where do you see this going then? this victory that has been accomplished, actual accomplishment on behalf of the conservative movement, what's

next then for those who represent that? >> well, the concessions are important. i mean, you have got a reinstitution of the hohmann rule which allows them to cut the salaries of some of these swamp rat employees working against the united states, you've got some mechanism now for spending restraint, pairing budget cap increases with spending cuts. these are real things. now, there's some people out there fairly on the conservative side saying, well, what's the guarantee they're going to stick to the deal? ladies and gentlemen, i don't have a good answer for you for that. the only guarantee is we've got now on paper, and it's going to be really hard in primaries to run away from it now that they got a deal -- the. pete: [inaudible] >> one member votes a motion to vacate which is ridiculously powerful. i want to add one more thing too. listen, this is over and i'd like to see some unity going forward with. but going forward, i'd highly recommend that the people like the dan crenshaws of the world

and the don bacons of the world that call in your political allies, yes, allies in yourorisa course in public communication. listen, crenshaw's got a decorated history with the united states military which i honor and deeply respect. he left a piece of himself on the battlefield, and you have my ultimate respect for doing that. however, that does not make you a gifted politician. and calling people terrorists and enemies when you claim to be part of the republican party is about the most asinine thing i've ever seen. and, please, if you can't handle yourself better, hen stay off tv. -- then stayoff tv. and don bacon calling for, oh, maybe we'll just go work with the democrats. really, don? don's from maine. you really believe -- from nebraska. you really believe that's what your con constituents voted for? come on, guys, give it a rest. my old baseball coach used to say that when you screwed up. come on, guy, it's time to wake

up. we voted for conservatives, not a continuance of the same old garbage. will: i peel exactly the same way -- i feel exactly the same. not that they're one and the same as republicans. we have for too long thought of this as a team-based sport when we need to make sure has the case. and, dan, i can't think of a time in my lifetime when that's been a a bigger shifting ground underneath our feet. in a world of censorship, vaccine mandates, we need to figure out who stands for what and how we're going to go forward with this. and i don't mean this gratuitously, your show has been one of the places where we've had these conversations. you know a lot about civics and philosophy, and i can expect you're going to continue to have that those conversations tonight on "unfiltered." >> well, will, one of the reasons i enjoy working here is we have a variety of voices. there are a lot of folks here who feldt different cannily than i did -- felt differently than i did, and that's fine.

they have different sources and different reasons. on my show tonight in the open we acknowledge, and we're glad it's over. we took the win. we have massive wins for the conservative movement. but i want to point out tonight all the people in the media talking about this was some kind of clown show, listen to my monologue tonight where i talk about the real clown show. what happened with the democrats while the media was busy insulting us for fighting for spending restraint and prosperity in the republic. see what the democrats were with doing. you want to see a real clown show? watch that. one more thing i want to mention too the, i'll get into tonight a little bit as well. all these people say, oh, the democrats, they always stick together and and they don't. good. i'm not a damn automay on the, i'm -- automaton, i'm a republican. we don't all think alike, and is we got to a conclusion. it took a couple of days. we got some of what they wanted,

the more moderate wing got some of what they wanted, the business of the house will continue. it is a glorious day for the republic. everyone should celebrate it today. there's no reason to hide your head in shame. that's a left-wing media garbage narrative. it was a glorious week, and i enjoyed every second. pete: i agree with you. if it takes us to a place where we get these types of concessions, it's fantastic. hakeem jeffries gave a disgusting speech impugning everything. so be careful, there's a lot of radicals in that democratic party right now, and they're this in control. >> yeah. >>. luckily we've got now some good, strong rules to restrain some of the stuff -- pete joins me tonight, we've got a couple of hot take stories you probably missed this week including hillary clinton is now a professor. pete has some funny comments about that too. 'em yeah. that was awesome. so we've been talking as well all morning about the southern border and and about how the president is finally deciding to go for the first time in his tenure as president of the united states -- pete: i think ever. emily: exactly, ever. and yet the caveat here is that the reason he is going to the southern border is because as his press secretary stated, it's essentially a layover. he is going because he's headed to mexico city, and i believe she said there's no the reason not to. what a slap in the face to all the members of the border patrol, to all the good people who are living in those southern border statements who day after day after day are being detrimentally affected in so many ways by the absolute porous southern border and the refusal of this administration to even acknowledge it. pete: so he's going to get a sanitized version, because they're already cleaning out el paso to make sure it looks just the way they want it to when he

[laughter] will: so a little bit earlier in the program i had a conversation with a former city council member the many el paso. so they're cleaning up el paso. that's what they're doing right now. president of course. cleaning up a crime scene. will: but here's -- why? he employees, everybody watching knows. trust me, fox news is on inside the white house. they know. so is the point in cleaning it

up similarly so that -- simply so that he can walk through el paso with, it would be embarrassing if that was all in the background of the shot, so instead the perfect comparison, it's like cleaning up the city before the olympics? emily: i think that's also why this is -- i mean, i didn't think the situation could get any more offensive as an american citizen, and yet this has sunk to that new low level because why can't the truth be acceptable to the president? why are we shielding the truth from the if president? even though at this point maybe with this he's simply a figurehead. we haven't seen the so-called border czar there earth -- either, kamala harris. will: it's about shielding the american public from the truth. pete: correct. to you clean it up for everybody, and the advisers want a sanitized environment, controlled environment for

octogenarian joe so there isn't a misstep. it's going to be heavy liquor yo graphed, heavily scripted and cleaned up. and the offensive part of it too the, it's like your college roommates who says i'm coming to visit you. you say, i can't wait. actually, i'll only be will for a couple of hours because i'm driving through town. i'm actually going somewhere else, i'm actually going to mexico city, but hen you rush to clean up your house as much as you can because he's about two hours out and you didn't know he was -- will: him telling you to clean up the house because he wants to take photos. i'm going to be posting some instagram photos, can you clean up the house? emily: i believe the president was on his way to new york already, and when nypd officers were shot and killed in the line of duty, he ended up stopping by and visiting, i believe, with families or at the precinct there. i wonder if during his visit he will make time to meet with

[laughter] pete: all right. 18 minutes after the top of the hour, still a lot of show ahead of us, and we have a few additional headlines. a manhunt underway for an armed and dangerous suspect who shot a police sergeant in downtown phoenix. gunfire erupt aring during an attempt to serve a warrant on

the suspect after the shooter jumped off a second story balcony and ran on foot. there he is right there. authorities say the wounded officer, thankfully, is expected to make a full recovery. the fda is giving approval to a promising new alzheimer's drug that a may help people in the early stages of the disease. medication is called -- the approval comes after clinical trials results indicated it slows memory losses and cognitive decline. rush a dose to 1600 pennsylvania. the fda approval is specifically for those dealing with early or mild stages of the disease, twice a month infusions and possible side effects like brain swelling and -- [inaudible] and the megamillions jackpot soaring past the $1 billion mark. i feel like this happens a lot now. after no one won the grand prize. what do you have, will? you were going to say something.

♪ will: well, this week we're learning shocking new details about bryan kohberger, the 28-year-old accused of killing the university of idaho students. emily: weeks after the attack, law enforcement officials reportedly watched kohberger clean his car in the middle of the night and throw out trash all while wearing gloves. pete: now one retired fbi official says it's plausible that kohberger could be linked to other unsolved murders. "fox & friends" carrot country host lawrence jones is on the ground in idaho, and he joins us now. lawrence, those are some staggering new details, to include the idea that there could be other murders here. >> yeah. good morning, family. there's a lot in this probable cause affidavit that i have right here. including this that new developments about him cleaning

the car. but i've got to say and, look, i've been covering this from the very beginning, i continue to mourn for these family members. i want closure for them. i believe they got the right guy. but there is not enough in this probable cause affidavit to convict someone. it's not required by a court of law, this is only the legal standard to get an arrest. but there is a lot that has to be unpacked to be able to convince a jury that beyond a reasonable do you want that this is the guy. -- doubt that this is the guy and expect hem to have to work a little bit more with this crime scene. there were several things in this affidavit that is going to be a alarming when you get in front of a jury. i can just imagine what the defense attorney is going to do for that one witness that was on the scene that said that she heard crying, she says she saw a dog barking, that she came face to face with the killer but waited hours, almost eight hours, to call the police. again, there's a lot here. he left the sheath there with dna that they were able to swab.

i think the one slam dunk thing and if they have this, and we know from right now that they did preserve the hands of the victims, and that's critical because we learned there was defensive wounds. if they have dna under those fingernails, i think that is going to be the dagger for this suspect. emily: speaking of dagger, we know he allegedly took a circuitous route home back to pullman, going south across the border and back up. are there hopes for the murder weapon to be found somewhere awe along that route? is that where resources and energies are being deployed at this time, do you know? >> you know, that's an interesting point, emily, because i have this theory that i believe when he turned his phone off the second time is when he went to hide the murder weapon. i think he made a crucial mistake. remember, from if what we've with herald so far, the one mistake is they got a partial print on his foot which is a bad shoe there on the crime scene and that he left the sheath. i think that he returned back to

the crime scene because he later realized that he had left the sheath. that is the one place where they were able to get dna. i do think that during that next period of time where he shuts his phone off he was trying to hide the murder weapon. we're going to have some exclusive information, because we actually take the route where he decided to go and see if we can find some areas where there is a pond or something that he could have potentially got rid of the murder weapon. will: all right. lawrence, you've been all over this from the very beginning. the latest? >> just a couple of reports, but you're correct, today's a day of thanksgiving, a day of prayers answered, a miracle, if you will. you know, these last six days everybody has been held captive, everybody's been -- trying to help damar and his family. what we did do we could do, we did do is collectively raise up our trust, our hope, our faith and our prayers, and they've been answered in a very positive manner these last couple of days. and, you know, it is -- [inaudible] i've been envisioning since that terrible incident on the field when he went down. and i didn't know it would happen this quick, but i envisioned him sitting up in bed and using that beautiful smile to smile at his mother, to hold his mother's hands, to hug his little brother, to know and recognize that his father is in the room, to know that friends and relatives and teammates were gathered around him. to be able to speak on his own,

to be able to breathe on his own, to be able to reach out to the buffalo bills teammates and give them, you know, what's up, guys, you could see the concern and love they had a for their fallen brother. will: right. >> and we are just so grateful today for all this development. you have to look guard. now damar's been given the gift of life again, which is fantastic, but we're hoping and praying for a full recovery and a breakthrough to total recovery where he can continue the great life that he has lived and do and still chase down some of the dreams and objectives and great things he was doing on and off the field. so today we are grateful, we are very thankful. will: you know, coach, as you're talking, i see over your show class 4a 2015 champions. damar's in his second year in the npl, was he on that 2015 team? >> oh, yeah. he's holding the championship trophy there. he was a key element of what we

and kevin needed to understand that conservatives are strong people, we're not going to be ruled with an iron fist. we're not with pelosi or mccarthy, we're freedom loving people, and we have to be able to reconcile differences. and some of my colleagues had legitimate concerns we needed to address. so i wanted kevin to go back to the table and not talk about the grievances. a lot of things happened, we had a lot of bad blood, but we can get through the it, and it makes us stronger, and it will make kevin stronger as a speaker because he will have to go lu this exercise many times -- through this exercise many times. pete: and how about your switch, to follow up on will's question, from present to mccarthy, is it because you feel like he met the concessions of conservatives who feel like it'll be a more conservative majority? >> well, i think it was also, you know, he went back to the table in good faith and some of the members and my colleagues negotiated these rules. and probably, you know, each of the sides a little bit unhappy, but that's okay. that's how negotiations work.

but we moved congress in the right direction and make us more democratic institution with the american people want. american people are tired of top-down approach, establishment of any party ruling with an iron fist. that's not a good thing. pete: now, question for you, some of the holdouts, part of their holdout was they don't want to be funding the war in ukraine, which as i know is something very near and dear to you. so it was interesting when people saw you voting present, it was with some people who were against funding the war in ukraine. now, the u.s. just announced a new $3 billion package to include armored fighting vehicles, bradleys. how do republicans reconcile their view of ukraine funding right now? >> i think their view, and i share this same view, we shouldn't be sending any blank checks to any country and to this administration this many particular. this administration fail us on every issue, and we cannot have another afghanistan in ukraine. there is a lot of speculation and a lot of different disinformation, but a lot of conservatives just want to make

sure that we do have proper oversight. and i actually was the one -- the. [inaudible] to actually push for proper oversight because we cannot spend the money not knowing where they go. so i think think the view of, you know, a lot of my colleagues are not really represented correctly, and i actually agree with a lot of them. our country and our debt spending is out of control, and we need to be more strategic including in europe and ukraine, and this administration has been dragging their feet, was not proactive and actually wasn't doing a good job. and ukraine either. a lot of people are dying because they made a lot of mistakes, and a lot of people died in afghanistan because of that too, and a lot of people are dying now in our cities, and we have disaster at the border. so i think it's a disastrous administration and we have to hold them accountable. emily: to that end, congresswoman, what are you most looking forward to in the 118th congress as we approach given the democrats still have the hold over the senate and the white house? what are you most looking forward to being able to

accomplish in this next session? >> well, i think, you know, to be realistic we need to show american people what we can deliver. if we have the senate and presidency, and i think we will have them in '24, but now the most effective thing we can exercise being in the majority is oversight of the executive branch. and that is one of the core functions of congress. will: congresswoman victoria spartz, thank you for being with us morning. >> thank you. will: to your point, i believe there's a study that shows in fiscal year 2022 we spent $113 billion in ukraine. pete: wow. it's good to hear -- ukrainian-born, u.s. congresswoman willing to say how about we care about our own border and our own citizens too and not -- i mean, may not necessarily agree with her position on how much we're sending, but we better be skeptical of -- and bradley fighting vehicles is a significant upgrade in what ukraine has had in the past. emily: all right. we're going to take you to some

headlines. a grand jury indicts a 19-year-old from maine on terrorism charges in connection with the new year's eve machete attack on three nypd officers. trevor bickford also a faces three counts of attempted murder, as he should. police shot him in the should after he rushed the officers and tried to grab one's gun. he previously had been added to the fbi terror watch list for extremist behavior. he's currently being held without bail. now to chicago where a shocking new watchdog report finds an apparent epidemic of school staff praying -- preying on students. last year investigators looked into almost 450 complaints of school workers engaging in inappropriate sexual behavior. in one shocking case, a special education teacher allegedly groomed an eighth grader. a rep for chicago public schools responding to the report saying, quote, we take seriously our responsibility to serve our families with integrity and to address individuals who breach
