griff: it really is, recent history 10 years when majority leader kevin mccarthy watched boehner go through that process when the house freedom caucus mark meadows congressman decided to be that one member. now we are back there and it seems like there's even more concessions we had in the last hour, representative says it's a win for the american people. it's not concessions, seems like it's a little bit of spin and the real test we will find, alex, when there is a tough vote like the debt sealing and things like that. alex: win for the american people and puts more checks and balances even within the republican party but you still have 6 members of who on stained to vote marking themselves present and it's unclear what the members will want in the future. >> that speaks to what is next and that's what we will be

fentanyl crisis and lucas tomlinson at the white house, the latest from the biden administration. we begin with lucas, of course. lucas, to you. lucas: molly, joe biden has never been to the southern border as president, he never went to the border as vice president either. just last month he said he wasn't interested. >> why go to a border state and not visit the border? >> because more important thing going on. lucas: president outlined new plans. this new parole program would block migrants from cuba, nicaragua, venezuela and haiti from crossing the southern border without proper authorization. something they will have to apply for and up to 30,000 people per month from these four countries will be given a chance to come to the u.s. legally to work for two years and expanding asylum restrictions and even the president's own party. new jersey democratic senator bob menendez their decision to

group working to increase outreach as border officials report a surge in drug apprehensions. christina coleman live with the latest following all of that. hey, christina. christina: hi, griff, yes, today some parents here in california who lost their children to fentanyl poisoning are warning families about the record-breaking fentanyl seizures in arizona, the severity of the crisis and criminal networks in mexico mass produce fake prescription pills laced with fentanyl. >> we are projected to seize an excess of 25 million pills, more than last year. the heart of the problem is right here in arizona. we are the first line of

defense. christina: just yesterday cbp arizona in nogales, shared photos, cbp found 19,800 fentanyl pills tape today legs of pedestrian this week and found 446,000 fentanyl pills at nogales port of entry. her group agents families about the deadly and devastating consequences of this deadly drug. she's dedicated her life to this cause since she lost her only son alex to fentanyl poisoning in june of 2020. she's speaking at a fentanyl awareness conference today to bring attention to the crisis as cpp officers continue images and seize fentanyl at the border. >> it's absolutely terrifying and it's -- it's so unreal sometimes when you see them

national guard but law enforcement and other state agencies as well to help assist with the stream of migrants who are showing up along florida's coastline. the state will now use air assets including planes and helicopters that belong to the florida national guard with increased marine patrols to intercept and ensure the safety of migrants who are attempt to go reach florida. in announcement governor desantis blasted president biden. the governor saying in part, quote, i'm activating the national guard in directing state resources to help alleviate the strain of local resources when biden continues to ignore his legal responsibilities, we will step in to support the communities. current wave of illegal cuban migration to the u.s. it's the larger in decades and state and local law enforcement have

encountered more than 8,000 migrants especially cubans to escape communist government in terrible economy. over the new year's weekend more than 500 cub anticipates arrived in boats up and national keys. they were transported to a border station in key west on thursday. the influx is overwhelming local communities who become responsible for taking these folks in and caring for them, officials say the resources just aren't there. >> these people have been on the water for days perhaps. they haven't had food and water as much as they would need to and now they are being held, stopped until, you know, we can process them and resources are difficult. charles: yeah, tough time and

you can see officials say they are hoping that the white house's new plan to limit migrants from haiti, nicaragua and cuba will help the situation down there ultimately we will have to wait and see, molly. molly: charles watson, a lot going on when it comes to immigration in our borders, thank you. griff. griff: molly, let's bring right in, national border patrol counsel president brandon judd, brandon, thanks for being here. as you all know president biden will head to el paso tomorrow. his first visit to the border and he's promising to address what the administration called unprecedented migrant surge but my question to you is how does this administration secure the border when they continue to maintain as recent as this week that the border is not open? >> first, we have to understand that he's two years too late. the party already started and he's coming in -- we've already seen too many of our united

states citizens die of fentanyl overdose, we have seen too many criminals make it into the united states that have evaded apprehension and chaos on our border. what i will say is that these -- you have the governor of colorado saying they are going to start shipping people out of that state. texas, he has to step to the plate and you are eric adams saying they don't have resources to handle cost of people that are coming, he has to step up to the plate. that's the only reason he's doing it as well as fox news and other outlets that are calling him on this issue and the american public becoming aware. but, again, he's already done so much damage to this country that i just don't know that we are going to recover down the road and implement the travel ban, that would be a game-changer. if we end catch and release we can go after criminal cartels and if we can go after criminal

cartels, we will save american lives. i'm not going to hold my breath. it's going to take awful lot of time to implement the transit ban if he does. >> you are looking live at drone camera, high above the bridge in eagle pass, texas and i will get on a plane fly there and come up tomorrow. but just to drill into something that you said, you believe that there's something in these proposed rules that could if enacted and enforced could bring this crisis under control? >> yeah, i met with secretary mayorkas at the beginning of this administration on a couple of occasions and i specifically gave him some specific things that could be done to get crisis under control or secure border, transit ban, and if they do

that, again, we will end catch and release as long as we say you cannot claim asylum in the united states if you don't first claim asylum in the first country that you come through, we have to remember that asylum is supposed to be to stop somebody from being persecuted. if you can claim that in the first country that you come to, you don't have to come to the united states, it's not for economic purposes and that's what the vast majority of people are coming to. griff, i've known you down in the border for better part of 12 years now. you know the policies that need to be implemented. you know the programs that should be implemented. they just haven't done it. again, two years too late. griff: you mentioned secretary mayorkas. i want to show you, brandon, a candle that a former border patrol agent sent me that you see here santo mayorkas. admin leave, agents are frustrated that they've been let down, lack of leadership

mayorkas but i want you to speak two years into this crisis the president is finally going to the border. what is the mor -- morale of thn and women in green. >> the candle says it all. the day of the press conference, let me be clear the border is not open, that's a lie. the border is open. let's look at the facts. the fact is criminal cartels are making more money that are ever before. more got aways in the last two years than in the past 20 years combined. we've released into the country more people than we've released from the past ten years combined. all of those facts clearly show the border is, in fact, open. so when we gets up there and lies to the american people, operations necessary to secure the border. that's all we want to do. we want to have an honest conversation. we want to protect the american people. we want the border secure, it's what this administration should

do. griff: it'll be fascinating if the president mentions got away, 240,000 this fiscal year which will be days 00 tomorrow, that's 2100 a day, unbelievable stuff, brandon judd, thank you very much, we will see you on the border. >> griff, good to be with you, thank you. molly: police removing what appears to be a blood-stained mattress out of the idaho house where four college students were brutally stabbed to death. jonathan hunt in moscow, idaho with the latest in all of this, jonathan. jonathan: molly investigators continue to build case against bryan kohberger, ph.d student, part of that, they are taking

evidence from the house where the killings happened. our cameras were there yesterday afternoon as they removed mattresses among other items. those mattresses wrapped in thick white plastic but appears to us that on one of them at least there were two large dark stains. we obviously do not know what those stains were but given that at least some of the victims were apparently murdered as they slept, viewers can draw their own conclusions. bryan kohberger himself is sitting in the county jail here. he faces another court hearing, a status hearing next thursday in the meantime investigators say they have a wealth of evidence against him. they shared, of course, some of that with us. it includes dna that they say is a match found at the scene of the crime, vehicle surveillance footage that puts his car at the

scene or near the scene at the time of the murder and then his cell phone, turned off at the time of the murders they believe so there was no pinging of any cell towers at the time but they do show it there the morning after the murders interestingly and some 12 times in the weeks and months leading up to the killings and police say that that may indicate that he was stalking 1 or more of the victims for those weeks or months beforehand and that there may have been some very detailed planning that went in to these crimes. we will hear more at the status hearing although it is something of a formality. the bulk of this evidence police are clearly going to hold until this goes to trial. molly. molly: the affidavit gives us some insight but law enforcement knows far more.

there where everyone wanted to watch and negotiations seemingly going before our very eyes. matt, i want to start with you, because now we are thinking where do the republicans go from here, how will they work together, we saw, you know, some of those tensions were pretty stark and striking on the floor. what happens moving forward, your thoughts? >> i certainly didn't expect to be watching c-span at 1:00 in the morning. it was entertaining. it was good that they gavel out of decision. everybody takes the session. everybody is locked in the room for too long. back of station wagon during long drive, family vacation, get everybody out. the thing i'm watching is rules package, how close is that, is there similar amount of tension, moderates that don't want to give that much away and that will give me a lot, watch the rules package. molly: back across the aisle, brad, when you saw, talking

about the freedom caucus and 6 holdouts that voted present, what would this mean in the coming years as far as republicans working together but would they be able to work with democrats in any way, shape or form, what do you think given what we witnessed in the overnight hours? >> i think we saw two things. we saw incredible democratic unity behind hakeem jeffries, big shoes to fill, along with katherine clark and pete aguilar. great leaders in the democratic and we talked about and as political junky, it was great to see this democracy going to happen and unfold in realtime and live action but very troubling because it's going the signify what's going to happen in the next two years and kevin

mccarthy can only four votes, how is he going to pass appreciations and national defense act, the key issues, democratic senate, so we are going to have to -- house democratic moderates will be the key power brokers and they are the ones willing to stand up and work with republicans and i hope speaker mccarthy turns to moderate democrats for help. molly: democrats would be the one that bring mccarthy across -- bring mccarthy across the finish line and didn't end up needing that to happen. some of the accusations coming from the democratic side of the aisle that extremists are now controlling the party, that it's -- this wing of people that need to be reined in and kevin mccarthy won't be able to do it. >> it's easy to be united when you're in the minority. he got 100% of the votes when he was running for speaker

technically last congress when pelosi won. look, i think what you're going to see this fight needed to happen. we had been tapering over it for essentially a decade, since boehner came, look, i think having the fight up front might have helped things. it released some of the pressure and you got some of the rules changes which, look, could help some of the things past the chamber as we get later ndaa, debt soon and the like. molly: brad, you get first crack at the next topic, president biden and i say finally heading down to the border and announced changes as far as immigration policies that he feels he can put into effect, your thoughts on this trip? >> look, i think it shows that border security and comprehensive immigration reform are top priorities for this white house. the president is going down there and onto mexico, the first president to go to mexico in a decade.

and so i think the southwest -- the southern border is something that's plagued presidents in the modern area. it's a massive problem. we have to deal with it. the president has rolled out a plan to address it including more resources to the border, more resources to stop the drug trafficking that's coming and a more humane asylum and immigration. the problem is the president can only do so much. that requires bipartisan cooperation and we've yet to see any indication from republican that is they are ready to do any kind of earnest bipartisan negotiations. molly: should he have done this sooner, constant blaming republicans for not being able to work with democrats and making a deal on immigration, your thoughts, matt? >> should have done it far sooner. and if i didn't want to get attention on this trip, i would do it exactly how biden is doing it. look, no offense, people aren't following the news as closely at

a weekend during the nfl season on a sunday as they would be say during the week if he did this trip on say monday. i think he is also hoping that there would be more infighting among republicans with the speaker vote so he could kind of get them distracted a little bit. he's trying to slip it under the radar, check the box. there's no answer for the border. there's essentially no border security. he's been trying to apiece his left wing and it's very clear it's not a priority for his administration. >> i point out that released -- >> i think it's telling though -- >> molly: passing -- sending criticism toward the president on this plan and we will see ultimately where he goes in the border, if it makes a big impact on him because he's yet to be there. so perhaps the folks down there will make an impact on where this goes on n the future. matt gorman and brad howard, appreciate it joining me on two big topics. tomorrow on fox news sunday

new latest weapon's package, the largest ever that the u.s. has given ukraine includes bradley fighting vehicles. we can show you some of the other things, missiles, armored personnel, what is your reaction to this latest assistance? >> griff, i would like to first of all thank the american people and the american taxpayers for all the support that ukraine has been receiving from the united states, from the first day of this large-scale invasion of our country. this is not just a conflict, this is a war of survival. so -- we are at a stage of this war we've been able to defend our capital, we've been able to drive the enemy out of cities like karkhiv and kherson and

every day the war continues it brings more destruction, more misery and more deaths so, of course, the latest package and the fact that it includessed armored vehicles like bradleys is another example of american leadership because you have seen, for example, when the european countries hesitate to provide ukrainian with, for example, patriot systems, when the united states of america shows leaderships and start makes a commitment to send ukrainian defense systems the europeans take that as an example and do the same, so we are very grateful for the latest package, we are sure it would be used efficiently by the ukrainian armed forces and we hope that this is a first step towards ukrainian receiving finally tanks because tanks and actually we know from even the american experts that infantry vehicles bradleys, they work best when they work in tandem

with abraham tanks, for us it's a matter of survival and the next big state for us is getting tanks and we hope that the next time meeting which is scheduled for january 20th will be the tank when this discussion will be reinv-- reinvigorating. griff: what do you make of putin's ceasefire? >> cheap propaganda trip. we have lost count of how many churches they have destroyed since the beginning of this war, we have lost count of how many ukrainian cities they have damaged. i never believe russia because they never deliver on the programs. they said they will never invade crimea, they did. they said they never would invade ukraine, they did. we have no reasons and our

western partners understand, see this as well, we have no reason to trust russians and we are in a mission, we need to survive and liberate our land. moreover, they said that they will keep the ceasefire but they have showed, for example, kherson, two people killed as a result of the strike. the hostility continues and another example that russia cannot be trusted an another example that we have to persevere and determined to go ahead. griff: thank you for being here. the 10 seconds i have left, republicans, some of them coming into power, may be questioning continued success, assistance to ukraine, what do you say to them? >> deep inside we are confident that the bipartisan support for ukraine will continue because we are confident that republicans and democrats, everybody understands what kind of threat we are facing.

molly: latest job's report suggest the labor market may be cooling in a way that could aid the federal reserve in fighting inflation, u.s. economy added 223,000 jobs last month and the unemployment rate fell to 3.5%. that matches a 53-year low.

this comes, though, as recession fears still loom large and prices remain sky high everywhere from the grocery store to the energy sector. for more insight on this, joining me live is fox business contributor and king's view wealth management chief investment officer scott martin, scott, thank you so much for joining me here. i'm hoping for a little good news, i'm hoping perhaps we will get it from you. your first thoughts just on this job's number, is that particular good news? >> particularly, yes. long-term maybe, maybe not, the job's number has been very good. we have been adding roughly a couple hundred thousand jobs for the last 8 to 12 months. what's been concerning, though, a little bit concerning here and there, molly, wage growth numbers, how much more we are making each month on percentage basis at our jobs. the numbers have been pretty

high, 6 or 7% year over year kind of averages. the federal reserve is raising interest rates as we all know the cool the economy, slow the job's market and slow the wage growth. what i think is good the job's numbers are steady and on friday, yesterday we saw that the wage growth numbers were basically sliced in half meaning the pace has slow today say 3 or 4% year over year annually versus say the hot 6%, 7% that we were seeing prior. molly: that's one of the tough things here, people's wages getting eaten up by inflation, the cost of everything up grocery 12%, the dairy prices up 16%, the energy sector which is really the toughest things we are seeing, fuelios prices increasing 65%, that's really just slamming people in the northeast that are looking at the rest of the next couple of months where it'll remain cold. is there a light, you win on one end and you take a hit on the

other? >> that's the thing. inflation is a vicious cycle because everybody thinks, okay, we will just raise -- raise wages to combat the high prices, but then you raise wages and the prices go higher and then raise wages again and easy for me to say and you get the point and the same thing happens in deflationary environment where prices do fall which is going to happen, i believe, for two reasons, one is the year over year comparisons versus, say like we were in the fourth quarter of last year versus say the first quarter of this year or second quarter of this year, the comparisons, molly, are easier, meaning prices are not going to have increased as much year over year vis-a-vis where they were a year ago. secondly, the market is showing itself to be a little more tighter on the labor market with respect to how many jobs are actually out there. i believe that some of the pressure that's going to be taken off of the labor market is going to have wages slow down a little bit and, therefore, also too, more people working actually makes more stuff and,

therefore, more things on the market that we can buy, whether it's eggs, chicken or clothes or in the case of myself, a new car. the more stuff that's out there, the prices will go down because of supply increases. molly: broadly pieces of good news. thank you so much for your insights, scott martin, thanks for joining us. griff. griff: molly, as the president prepares for first visit to the border since taking off two years ago we will look at the migrant crisis on display there next. ♪ ♪ ♪
