abbott. he handed the president a letter, a list of demands that he would like to see the president respond to. i want to take it out to our panel. first visit by president biden to the border as president. he is greeted by greg abbott who i may say was just invited last night, this trip has been planned for months, texas governor greg abbott aid received an e-mail last night saying we are coming to the border, with the president like to meet with us. governor abbott hands this letter to charlie, he had a chance to take a look at the letter. what did you think about it? >> in the letter, he talked about the fact your property owners along the border. lives that have been absolutely destroyed by biden's policies at the border. talking about the fact that his policies have entirely empowered the drug cartels that have complete operational control of

the border. the five demands that he makes. the five demands that he makes are simple demands of law that are already in the law that joe biden has already been supposed to be doing. it is a reminder -- and governor abbott says this in the letter, you know, for all the problems at the border, president trump saw the immediate crisis at the border. stopped the flow. the most pressing part of the problem. joe biden systematically went through and i did every one of those things to create the human catastrophe that we now have at the border. >> why don't we put some of those numbers up now if we can. we have the fiscal 2023 numbers compared to 2022. take a look at those numbers. 718,000 plus swamping the year before. 518,000. then you have your daily border

average of crossings. it is an astonishing number. almost 7000 people. crossing the border every day. it is unbelievable. i want to take a listen to a former border patrol chief. rodney scott really putting these numbers into context so we can really understand them. >> it is off the charts. a former secretary of obama said this. people need to put that into perspective. let's just call it a number for right now, that is about an hour of processing. literally wipes out all the border patrol agents on the line. >> unreal. die, it is great that the president is visiting the border today, is anything going to change? >> they announce their new policy package late last week.

i am skeptical that it will really deal with the heart of the problem in a number of different ways. the numbers we just put up on the screen are extraordinary. going back to the first three months, first 100 days of last fiscal year, half a million people encountered the border. that was a blowout number. totally unacceptable. thus far this fiscal year more than 200,000 more. that, i think, helps -underscore. >> then underscores what you are looking at. the scope of this problem. a mind blowing magnitude that we are talking about. i am glad governor abbott created that letter. handing it directly to a president who has gone out of his way to ignore this problem. he has not even pretended to care about this problem. abbott had one moment to try to get his position across nt has done so. in that letter, three words in the letter, it remained in mexico.

that is a number one policy under president trump that the reversal of which has been particularly harmful and i read a story today that was borderline propaganda. unwilling to work with the democrats on immigration. they said that if this, i am paraphrasing, leafs president biden with few good options and it is just not true. he could reinstitute, remain in mexico tomorrow as a policy and things will get a lot better. he will not do that in he should have to answer why. anita: tammy, i want to ask you also about these numbers. i want to listen to something the white house press secretary had to say aboard air force one. >> attempting to cross the border unlawfully is now down by over 70%. that is been since mid-december. since the president launched the parole process.

the average numbers at the border in el paso alone is now a quarter of what it was prior to the launch. again, the president's border measures are working. anita: the presidents border enforcement measures are working we saw the numbers. we heard from the former border patrol chief about how unbelievable they are. how did she get away with a statement like that? >> the foxnews audience knows these numbers and the reality of it. there was a study indicating about 6% of americans understood and realized the magnitude of what was happening at the border when you think about, like you mentioned the reuters story, i think, they are looking at media that reinforces that rhetoric and that is all they see. they are noticing for that base, 6%, you know, no, then it is

working for them. >> how many people crossed the border illegally last year in only 6% were close. >> may be we have more than 6%. but that is the issue. they are looking at this as a new cycle. what kind of information are they controlling. versus the reality. one of the reasons this visit was important as it takes off the table of the argument you have never been. in a cleaned up environment, this is how this may be looking and i am doing a good job. if he does reverse some of his positions and there is an actual change in the numbers, key can take credit for that. look, we really are making the difference here. i think that the democrats for a long time, starting with barack obama have been about winning a news cycle and keeping americans ignorant as to what is going on.

"they need a lot of resources and we are going to get it for them. okay. >> he hears that in he thinks spending. the follow-up question would have been, okay, specifically which policies, according to you , have lowered the number of people crossing the border, which is a lot. the most valuable things that make people really do well in politics. to be completely shameless. the other is to be completely untethered from reality or the truth. the white house says these things because they have no shame and they do not care about the truth. also because, as you point out, tammy, it is like we are the only ones that hold them accountable for this stuff. >> not even holding accountable,

reporting the actual events that are occurring. it does not matter what your politics are, these are facts. democrats have gone after him about the condition, the mayor of el paso, democrat officials locally and maybe that shift when it comes to hispanics and hispanic voting trends. when it affects them that way, they will care. >> that is the most important point. the reason he reversed himself and decided to go to the border is even he realized this is an important issue to the people and his voters. >> let's hear how this entire situation has affected where they live. >> we are proud americans. what we wanted to be done legally and the assumption that this administration and the congresswoman that we are okay with what is happening to our city right now is absolutely outrageous. november, a house got busted for trafficking migrants across the

state. >> they are now constantly pulled off the line to help process these migrants, which has made the border unsecure. >> they are using our city services. it is not just isolated to border patrol agents. the city, county and state are involved in taking care of these illegal aliens. >> there are illegals walking everywhere. >> forgotten a lot on this coverage is how this calamity is affecting people that live there >> the president reportedly just talked about resources. some additional resources are appropriate. it is much more about the policy. that cannot be said enough. some key reversals. that montage that we just played, i hope that president biden will actually listen to some of those precise people. either them specifically are people like them. he needs to hear that message.

crowd and on the sideline. everyone holding three fingers. number three on the bills. you cannot write a script better than that. the other thing that i think is kind of cool about this is the bills in the hamlin family have been thinking the country for their prayers, thanking them for their thoughts. as a sports fan i got a kick out of the fact that reportedly the very first thing that he communicated when he was able to communicate was did we win. he wanted to know was did they win the game. now that he is doing a lot better, this has turned from a very scary moment into something that kind of gives you goosebumps. it makes you feel good about being an american and a sports fan. >> not a huge nfl sports fan myself it has been amazing over the last couple of years to watch all of this nonsense, kneeling on the field and dragging politics through, when i tuned into the game last week and saw these guys in this horrible moment where they are

all kneeling for proper reason, it really was kind of heartwarming and powerful. >> it really was. i think people really do look to god in moments of crisis. everyone in crisis on that football field. they forgot about whether it is politically correct or oh we should not do this we don't want to offend anybody, they looked to god because they needed help. it would be great if we look to god for other times, too. not just in a moment of crisis. i've been talking about the idea of power of prayer with numbers. i just looked up a couple verses in the bible that support that. this is matthew 18 : 20. where there are two or three gathered in my name, there i am above them. god was certainly on the field for damar hamlin. it is a miracle that he is alive. >> it really is. you see god and other people.

if you see god in other people, everybody gets along a lot better. it is interesting, washington examiner article pointed out that christian podcasts on the bible and faith topped all the apple and spotify charts. >> everybody knows of course for years now there has been this rhetoric and pounding by the left, by the media about the problem with faith, the problem with organized religion that it is offensive to neal, lawsuits about praying on the field, you know, getting on your knees, all of that, what this shows you is it really has had no effect. while americans might be quiet about it or may be very private about their faith and maybe it manifests in different kinds of ways, i suppose for me it manifests different -- i'm a little suspicious of organized religion, but i believe in god. i am spiritual. that, i think, explains the united states and what was

campaign would be even more grueling at his age. the last thing that i will say, i will ask the question, is he very inspiring figure that would inspire the younger generation of people develop? anita: that becomes a question. they did it once before. all of these problems existed. they hid him away. people knew there were issues. they pretended. people in the white house that clearly have a lot of power. i think they want to keep that power. >> it does not have to be inspirational, it just has to be successful. dynamics are different in 2024. someone may be not teaming up for the job cannot win? look what happened in pennsylvania in november. john federman is now a u.s. senator. i have always been skeptical about his desire in his family's desire for him to run for a second term. it is looking more and more like he actually may take the plunge

on this. i think he has been emboldened by the november results. if the republicans go at trump again, that is another discussion that republican voters have to think about very closely, but if it will be trump again, here's a guy that is proven he will beat trump. do we want to change course is if he is willing to run a potentially win. it is fascinating. a lot of people lining up who want to be president on the other side of the aisle but if i think it's in and says he will run for reelection, -- anita: or they would of course invigorate a challenge against him. at the same time, two guys point, you have very different dynamics here in 2020. twitter is no longer on board. that change will continue. even if trump does run, of course, there are challenges there. we know more about biden, we know about lies all of that. is this something that you think they could pull off again. if so, is this up to the republicans, the midterms were

more affected by the republicans not having a real message of people could hold onto. >> i think the most important thing is for republicans to define those issues that they want to run on. i think nothing else is more important as physical responsibility. it has everything to do with whether you can afford groceries and whether you can afford gasoline. republicans have to make that connection which they failed to make in the last election. the other thing is border security. our southern border is more important than ukraine's border. if republicans cannot make that argument, i know the voters agree with that, but republicans need to make that argument. it does sort of -underscore, the fact that republicans do have nominal control of the house, this is an important thing. the democrats used the house as a launching point to carry out so many of the lies that they pushed in the 2020 election.

their ability to hurt trump and hurt the truth from getting out that, you know, my hope is that republicans are smart about using that. >> i do not see that changing. the democrats have never limited themselves based on what they controlled and what they did not control. that is something the republicans need to learn about. this would be an opportunity or necessity when they think about who would run. kamala harris, gavin newsom, stacy abrams, i mean, i don't know. maybe hillary will run as a democrat. you never know what she may pull out. i don't imagine kamala harris, this would be an opportunity to move her off of the ticket. then taking 28. >> he keeps referring to her as president harris. >> i would be surprised if they booted her from the ticket. we just had a historically good

cheers prince harry you have been very badly advised. glad you thought about the security implications for those of us still out in afghanistan trying to bring about some good. first of all, i do respect harry for going and serving in afghanistan in a meaningful way. he did not have to do that. if he racked up a body count like that on behalf of freedom and against terrorism, great. you are sort of questioning this story and the connection to harry from this royal marine. what is your take care. >> i love what this guy is doing here with the animals. a lot of people and animals have been left behind. good for him. we know that the british were part of the force that helped deal with afghanistan, not just in peace keeping. i was thrilled and presumed that harry had killed a bunch of the bad guys. it is great that he did so. i also understand that this

brings up and it may be embarrassing for the taliban but they know that they lost originally and what trump and bush managed a deal. maybe they are embarrassed by this and they want to get some revenge, but i think that it is part of this larger conversation. here he is looking for attention talking about things that i will not mention about himself personally and his brother, his anatomy, things that you would expect from just a reality television show which is maybe what they want. overall it is embarrassing. harry still is a prince's england. he should have some dignity. he was on the path for dignity what that role in afghanistan and now of course that is been crushed. he says he feels compelled to leave. if he is in danger he should. life matters. at this point i think that it becomes a reality conversation. >> reading this story, i am an animal lover. i would do anything for my dog.

i did read and say okay i'm all for getting some of these animals out of afghanistan, there are still tens of thousands of american allies, human beings, stuck in that country with the taliban hunting them down. my personal priority there. but i do wonder on the harry connection with this which is why it is a new story, do you think he thought through the implications of this? >> no. all he cares about is getting attention for himself. even as a spare. he is a terrible spare. does not even work. >> charlie, standby on that. president biden just now arriving at a migrant detention center in el paso texas. he will meet with community leaders and activists. these are live pictures now. there you see the president at the migrant detention center meeting with the folks there. of course, the big question here is how realistic is this visit? is this the way the center looks

on it every day basis? is everyone always in a suit? is the president getting a real experience? charlie, what do you think when you look at these pictures? >> clearly, he has not. they have gone to great lengths to clean up the mess before he gets there. it is not just to make it look good for him, it is also designed to because he just wants a photo op so he can go there and claim it's not as bad as everybody says it is. i think it is important to remember that the entire catastrophe going on, 100% that man's fall. president trump, whatever you want to say about him, he fixed the immediate problem at the border. this man because of political stupidity and hatred hunted all of those things and created their humanitarian crisis at the border. not only did he create the current mess, but for those of us that make the argument that this is also a problem going on for 40 or 50 years, that is one of the few people that can be blamed both for the immediate in

the fifty-year failure of washington to address the problem. >> and, so, we see him continuing to meet with these people from the migrant detention centers. we know that he will meet with the democratic congressional delegation there. >> who are pleading with him, by the way, meeting with a loner republican meeting with him on the border there. some of the men and women on the frontlines they are dealing with this every day. if they want a good photo op, one at that be the photo up? >> walls are successful, there just aren't enough of them. surrounded by a number of agents. i am hopeful these were not cherry picked hand selected agents to go and smile and shake, welcome, mr. president. we have heard about this in the

past. the secretary has gotten an ear full from the rank and file not saying anyone should be disrespectful to the president of the united states, but i think that president biden would perhaps have an opportunity to learn something if he got a realistic reality check. an ear full from some of these people. and i hope that he does. >> he has during the campaign. he went to a factory in that factory worker confronted him and there was a fight. use all the biden that gets mad and start swearing and calling names and then at that one town hall in a man stood up and confronted him. i think it was in a respectful way and then he began to insult that man. it is not just because it is not a good photo off in some ways, but you do not know what joe biden will do when in fact confronted in that manner. i think everything is cherry picked. when you look at this on a day-to-day basis when it comes to the impact of the country, we were benefited from the trump wall in the trump economy as

covid began. because, imagine if we had an announcement of the different pandemic, the southern border is like a failed nation completely open and an economy that if you blow on it will tip over. what matters in our future is the black swan. the thing we are not expecting tomorrow but could happen. that is what makes this even more dangerous than it is on a day-to-day basis. >> after the last couple weeks, i have heard the president talk about wanting to work with those across the aisle. wanting to be bipartisan. when it came to the invites for this visit, the entire congressional democratic delegation from texas was invited. tony gonzalez, a republican, he said, why am i not invited? i'm dealing with this every day. does a solution have to involve both democrats and republicans? why keep this guy out of the meeting. >> because it is all political.

it has nothing to do with national security. it has nothing to do with injustice or unlawfulness or anything like this. or even concern for the people that are bunched up at the border or coming to the border. the worst thing that you can do for these women and children and families is, and this is where we get to talking about his idea for granting amnesty to everybody, amnesty invites more humanitarian crisis every single time. it is like people who say the problem with, you know, ussr as they did not do communism right. no. there is no right way to do amnesty. it absolutely invites more humanitarian crisis. if he actually cared about those people, he would say, okay, put up the do not enter sign. walls do work. the wall has to keep on going. a wall that ends is called a

doorway. >> the other thing is we keep referring to this as a humanitarian crisis and it is. you look at the deaths and suicides among our officials because they are completely overwhelmed. that is absolutely a huge component of this. being at this particular center, the salvation army, that is probably what biden is hearing about. there is crucially another part of this. national sovereignty, national security, public safety. i hope in addition to the humanitarian stuff, he's also caring about those things as well because those are crucial components of this that are not being overlooked. >> a lot of that is the letter that governor abbott handed to them. he stop this illegal trespassing into the country. we did get some reporting from our press pool earlier about some comments of the president made. we are going to get it for them. we will see what that translates to later.

again, i just have this question of whether the president is really going to get an understanding of what is happening on the ground if he is not seeing it. our correspondents go down there. every week they are there and they report on the suffering. >> we have all seen it. more impactful when you go to the border. technically, he knows exactly what is happening when it comes to the human toll. i think part of what abbott's letter addressed in what we all have to look at is the numbers that we see, to some degree, of course, is guesswork. it's not like they count every car that goes by. knowing how many went through and were seen. not only with fentanyl and health issues and that being a national security financially, but terrorism. we know that isis is

reconstituting. we know al qaeda remains a significant issue. the taliban have all of the money in the embassy. americans see this kind of chaos bubbling up and over. not just from the middle east but also in china. north korea and the movement that china makes as well. doubt border is just literally like the front of your house is blown out and everyone can come in. that, when something happens, and it will, we will look back and know that this is about the time that it occurred. that is what is so heartbreaking we know that it is not being done and that is the biggest issue. >> if the president wants to talk about resources, i'm pretty sure it's a new republican house of representatives that would love to send them a bill. we may have a gas but we will find out.
