couldn't keep from joke. >> mind your business, file your taxes and keep of my wife's name [bleep] >> we start with a fox news alert. hundreds of flights from coast to coast are either delayed or canceled right now after the faa experienced a computer system outage. >> steve: united airlines just announced all of its flights are grounded until at least 10:00 a.m. eastern time. >> ainsley: todd piro is following the latest developments for us, todd? >> what a tough time to fly whether it was last year around christmas holiday time to now the faa announcing a total system failure nationwide impacting hundreds of flights. let's take a live look. we are going to orlando, sanford international where all flights are delayed until further notice. the faa tweeting it is, quote: experiences an outage with its notice to air missions system which provides critical flight safety operation information. we are closely monitoring the situation which are impacts all

airlines and working with the faa to minimize disruption to our operation and customers. we encourage customers to check aa.com for the latest flight information. as of now, flight aware is reporting over 1,000 flights have been delayed nationwide. faa says it is not requiring flights to be grounded. instead, allowing each carrier to make its own call. one of those carriers being united airlines. like i said grounding all flights until 10:00 a.m. american releasing the following statement, quote: we are closely monitoring the situation which impacts all airlines and working with the faa to minimize disruption to our operations and customers. faa says it's working to restore its system though no word on how long that could take. again, the key take away here, this is related to safety so it's no surprise that airlines are grounding their planes because safety is their top priority. back to you. >> steve: absolutely. safety and security. todd, thank you very much. i'm talking to lucas tomlinson. is he over at the pentagon right now. he says apparently the grounding is because of acronym motams.

chicago. they voluntarily get on these buses. >> steve: still humane according to mexico president. >> brian: unbelievable the president of the united states with a straight face comes out and says this is the greatest migration. the greatest migration wasn't coincidence when you took over. when you took over they said come one, come all because of your policies. because you said you were not going to enforce anything that trump was doing. the remain in mexico was out the window. you had to be sued to put it in place and sued to get it out of place and desperately try to get rid of another way to quell the insurgency and that's title 42. stopped putting pressure on all the central and south american countries. if you get to the border you get to say. flooded. ngos with money but not border security. it's his policies that led to this. and if you don't believe he did it, look at the numbers. look at the numbers that change when you took over. look at what the people were saying when they came across. talk to the reporters. at the border who can tell you

500 bucks per night per room. it's full of migrants. and they are serving them bagels and sandwiches. and quite literally they are throwing a ton of the food away each and every day this guy a whistleblower to the local media is revealed. we are giving themselves. they don't want it. they would rather cook meals on hot plates in their rooms which are dangerous because they cook them on the floor so nobody can see them. ultimately, what he suggests, is somebody from the city should say hey, let's -- if they are throwing away a ton of food every day, let's order less food so we throw less out? but he says nobody cares. they're just throwing money at the problem but ultimately, and there is such a homeless crisis across this country particularly here in new york city. a lot of those people would love to have a sandwich they're

throwing away by the dumpster full every day because the migrants from other places don't want our sandwiches. you can understand. they just want beans and rice and plan takens. we are giving them turkey sandwiches that are winding up in the garbage. there is no oversight and that is just bad. >> brian: if you're not eating turkey you are not that hungry. getting free stuff. eat it. meanwhile unless we are giving them cash to go buy something else. 10 minutes now. 30,000 illegal immigrants in this city. >> steve: 35 now. >> brian: you want to talk about coming together it. looks like we might have an issue. the republicans and democrats are going to come together on. the house voted yesterday 365 to 65 to establish a bipartisan select committee focusing on countering china's influence and trade technology and military and elements of strategic competition. the chips act most live positive. they are feeling the pinch in china. i like the idea that democrats

issue swiftly and safely so air traffic can resume normal operations and will continue to provide updates. >> brian: cheryl casone joins us now. a big deal. can you imagine what the airports are like all across the country? >> be nice to flight crews. got a new update from the faa. they are still working to restore it's notice to air mission system. that's the information that goes to the pilots. >> steve: notam. all domestic departures to allow the agency to validate the flight and safety. they have been trying to restart this system for the last hour and a half. >> brian: good news it was 10:00. >> nows 9:00. >> steve: united 10:00. >> all airlines. report that they were getting the paperwork to the pilots like in minneapolis. i saw that report this morning. but that's not happening right now. >> steve: like that jet we just saw out at newark. that is probably a plane that has landed. and is incoming. look at that.

>> please hold on, stop. >> steve: nobody is taking off or landing. >> ainsley: that means the planes in the air landed. >> yeah, no, no. if a plane is inbound and only got so much fuel. everything that's inbound that was already in the air when this broke down has to land. that is not going to change. >> ainsley: even if you are hundreds of miles from destination. >> got to land only got so much fuel. >> steve: just like on 9/11 when they grounded everything and those planes still had to land. >> this is the first time we have stein that. >> steve: this notam is alert to pilots before they take off about potential hazards. you need to know about hazards along the way. i know how people are saying it could be a hack or something like that. we don't know anything about that at this point. all we know is that for tens of thousands of people, this is a lousy way to start wednesday. >> you know, here's my advice over here watching. okay, you are watching. okay.

go to the app. if you don't have the airline app., download it to your phone. go to the website. and then also all of them have twitter handels now, american, delta. southwest. they are all on twitter. and american and united are already tweeting out to people. because honestly, to thrive to get somebody on the phone right now if you have a flight at #:00. don't even bother trying to pick up the phone use technology. >> brian: other thing is, have you ever experienced this before when you have to -- when you have to delay everything, then everything is delayed forever. >> ainsley: days. >> brian: 6:45 flight is delayed an hour, maybe two hours. do they go out first and then the 8:00s and 9:00s? this is almost impossible to quantify the amount of disruption plus you have too many planes in one place. >> any aircraft that is sitting at a gate right now or tarmac anywhere, it's not going to go anywhere for now. this all just has to-we haven't seen this to your point 9/11 actually. haven't seen a full stop of the

u.s. air traffic system since 9/11. >> this is the first time. >> steve: one of the problems, is brian is talking about the cascading effect all day. >> all day. >> steve: so if they are not -- a lot of airlines are not going to take off-that obviously is an inbound flight there. if they are not going to be able to take off until 10:00. on the clock at 5:00. that crew and you used to be part of a flight crew. that crew is going to time-out faster than the airline is planning on. and that's going to mess up a lot of flights later today. >> yeah. the pilots have much more of a time sensitive schedule than the flight attendants do. there is a little bit of a difference there. but for, yes, for pilots you do have time-out situations. the airlines, especially after the holiday season we just had. they are pretty good right now at getting their systems in order. there's going to be a lot of cancellations today go. flight away.com. they have all the latest numbers. this is going to cascade throughout the day probably for the next two to three days. because to your point, brian, about a plane that has to start

♪ >> ainsley: we are back with a fox news alert. all airlines across our entire country ordered to delay outbound flights until 9:00 a.m. eastern time. this development comes after the faa is experiencing a massive system failure. >> steve: computer failure. as of now the website flight aware is reporting over 1200 flights have been delayed or grounded because of this outage. >> brian: the administration says it's working to get everything back up and running. no word yet on how long that could take. and that's what we are looking at right now. so it's hard to imagine a pigger story right now that effects more people in more places than this story. in fact, pete buttigieg tweeted this out: i have been in touch with the faa this morning about an outage affecting a key system from providing safety information to pilots. the faa is working to resolve this issue swiftly and safely so that air traffic can resume normal operations and continue to provide updates.
