look. it comes to folks door steps. and then people begin to listen. as an example, in chicago, the west side, i interview lasean ford, a state rep there whose cousin or relative of a person that i interviewed was murdered in front of his house. >> neil: they know it's a big deal. thank you, my friend. >> thank you. >> hello, everyone. i'm dana perino, along with judge jeanine pirro, geraldo rivera, brian kilmeade. it's 5:00 in new york city, and this is "the five." president biden was going to be honoring the life of dr. martin luther king jr., the president who preaches unity, using the occasion to attack his republican critics. >> talk about big spending
2:01 pm
democrats again? guess what. i reduced the deficit last year $350 billion. but so what. these guys are fiscally demented, i think. >> joe biden sounds utterly ridiculous. he wants to keep the items that he's ratcheted up spending in, he wants to keep them, as opposed to examining things at the federal level, to get our debt and inflation under control. >> dana: and the president turning heads with these comments about the second amendment and car insurance. >> i am going to get assault weapons banned. i did it once. i'm going to do it again. i love my right wing friends, talk about the tree of liberty is water in the blood of
2:02 pm
patriots. if you need to work taking on the federal government, you need some f-15s. you don't need an ar-15. i'm serious. by the way, if you live in one of those neighborhoods, you have the exact same car i have in the other neighborhood, you pay more insurance. no basis for it. none at all, other than you're black and i'm white. >> jeanine: oh, my. >> dana: unity, greg? >> greg: i swore when he became president we wouldn't become like them, like the trump derangement syndrome, but biden i refuse to see him as evil or inherently bad, but he is pathetic in the sense that he was always kind of known for being -- having manners and class and congenial, but he there's a tribute to mlk, and he uses it to demonize a party. what is this? is this the joe biden everybody thought they knew?
2:03 pm
of course not. that one is dead. this isn't even a thinking self-aware individual at this point. here's joy reed with an artificial hip, will say or do anything. he doesn't care. the line he always uses, so tired, about the f-15. you know, when he says, you know, you can't fight the government unless you have an f-15. he's like that obnoxious stupid child at a zoo, banging on the window of a lion enclosure and saying, aha, you can't get me. that's literally the level of his infanttile discourse. he claimed a qanon sham man threatened our democracy. you can't have it both ways, you dope brain, that our democracy
2:04 pm
is in peril. he's absolutely lost his mind. again, i'm not losing my mind over this. it's not derangement syndrome. this is simply watching the decline of an individual. you can say this. you can that he's lost his mind now, because there's nothing worse than somebody calling you a racist in this society. so he's extending that platform, that bar, southeast, so when you say he's seen nile or idiotic, that's not close to being a racist, because being demented is out of your control, but when somebody calls you a racist that's an attack on your moral being. i guess all attacks are off at this point. >> dana: i wanted everybody to know, you have to stick around for my "one more thing" because there's a deep tease. you don't even know what it is, but you just -- >> greg: hope it doesn't involve kilmeade. >> dana: if you can play the call about the irs, and get
2:05 pm
judge jeanine to respond. >> all the irs agents we have, because they fired a lot of them, and lieutenant of -- a lot of them retiring. who needs serious agents to know what they're doing and not doing? the billionaires, the mul multi-multimillionaires. this one bill alone will add $114 billion to the deficit. they didn't say if elected the plan is to make inflation worse. >> dana: the reason they need the irs agents, it goes to green subsidies. >> jeanine: four things to comment on from the speech. number one, he's one of the most decisive presidents in american history. this president has taken on the american people as opposed to taking on people of a foreign country who want americans to die, israel to die, all that stuff.
2:06 pm
number two, he is someone who is taking all this credit, calling us crazy about the economy, when the truth is he ran the deficit up to a world record of $2.5 trillion in 2021. then in 2022, borrowed another $1.5 trillion, the highest ever. he's the most financially reckless president we've ever had. you know, it's like an alcoholic bragging, look, i went from eight drinks to six drinks. you know, things are really good now. then the other thing, his comment about, you know, they should be able to shoot them in the leg. they shouldn't be able to shoot. look, cops are trained to shoot center mass when they are resisting deadly physical force. it's not like a western, where you've got some guy who's going to shoot the gun out of your hand. okay? unless you got a sniper, you go for center mass. that shows he's totally disconnected. finally this idea of the illinois governor and the assault weapons, all that, first
2:07 pm
of all, the assault weapon ban in '93, the results of it are very unclear. very unclear. he says he wants to do it again. fine. the illinois governor is telling his sheriffs they won't have their job if they don't enforce the assault weapon ban in illinois. he can't take their jobs away from them, because they've been elected. >> dana: geraldo, doesn't president biden have to make a decision to announce he's running for election, the congenial president that says you don't have to worry about anything or the decisive one where he defaults to in these speeches? >> geraldo: you're much more of an expert on politics than i am. >> dana: not on this one. i don't know. >> geraldo: it's a stoner stream of consciousness, that speech. it was disconnected. i like the guy. i didn't know where he was going with the -- the ar-15s. what does have that to do with
2:08 pm
the 87,000 irs agents. it just seemed a whole mishmosh. it seemed ominously to speak of the division, you mentioned, judge. you know, does he want two si sides? if i may, with considerable experience in war, i just want to give you a quick picture. okay? 30 seconds. mogadishu, somalia, i was there in 2002 with my brother craig, and watch a young doctor bleed out, he died in front of us. his head had been blown off or taken away by an ar-15. i submit to you, ladies and gentlemen, there is no legitimate reason, other than maybe sport shooting, if you're a registered person in one of those high-end sport clubs, there's no legitimate reason to have an ar-15.
2:09 pm
you can't shoot deer with it. you can't -- it has no practical significance. what it does, it machofor ass, if that's a word, the people who have it, a big deal. ar-15s have no place in society other than sports clubs. i agree with him on that. ironically we do need more irs agents if they say we need more irs agents. >> dana: he takes credit for reducing the deficit, but that was after the covid emergency funds went down. when he says it's the greatest airlift in history. including on baby formula. like he's writing checks he
2:10 pm
can't cash, so to speak. >> brian: a cop never says shoot for the leg. it's shoot for the mass. know what you don't know. when it comes to spending, he spent $9.7 trillion. we know that this is going to be over the next 10 years. going to spend $6 trillion over the next 10 years. this is coming down the pike. he wants to reduce spending. he's fortuitous in this. mitch mcconnell came across on the deal when it comes to the infrastructure. he came across the aisle when it came to the chips bill, originally a republican bill. he's taking credit for these bills that the senate cut a deal with, which mostly republicans had agreed with. he just signs it. in fact, he almost blew it up,
2:11 pm
because he says i won't sign one without the other. the scariest thing for his staff, if they're paying attention, when he walks around, clearly not looking at the prompter, because you have no idea what's going to happen. believe me, he does not want to use the word "demented." it was one of the worst words he could use. >> dana: yeah. i wouldn't use that word. >> jeanine: there's no social redeeming value to an assault weapon. the constitution doesn't limit to a socially redeeming factor. >> geraldo: there were no assault weapons then. >> jeanine: should we have cannons in our house? let's not go there. >> greg: what does ar stand for anyway? >> brian: we have 607 billionaires in this country, no the counting greg, 606, cracking down on the billionaires, the most accountants, most of them

playing within the system. >> dana: these 87,000 agents are going after your new business. coming up, with new excuses for president biden's document scandal. okay everyone, our mission is complete balanced nutrition. together we support immune function. supply fuel for immune cells and sustain tissue health. ensure with twenty-five vitamins and minerals, and ensure complete with thirty grams of protein.

happened now. >> reporting sometimes is a little more sensational than it ought to be. i used to be in the business. so i understand that. >> at the end of the day we can do a whole media segment on the idea of trying to be aggressive when it's a democrat to balance out when people feel that it's -- he actually did the things. >> jeanine: wow. >> brian: breaking news from the "wall street journal." just into all of us, the doj has considered, but decided against, having fbi agents monitor a search by president biden's lawyers for classified documents at his home, which is one question you had. why do they get to search themselves and hand over this stuff? judge, you were commenting during this whole time. first of all, on the revelation the "wall street journal" just has, that the fbi nixed and -- >> jeanine: you just asked the question. why do they get to search their own records, classified records, with private lawyers who don't have access to that security clearance? because they're democrats. the hillary clinton can erase
2:19 pm
33,000 emails. joe biden can move them around. here's the problem with these people who say we don't get it. the problem is you're dealing with a guy who's been involved in sucking up money from all over the world, living with his father in the house where these documents are located, and nobody's concerned about it. oh, it's nothing to see here, folks. then you've got a press person who literally is standing at the podium saying, i answered that question. well, i didn't hear it. what did you say? yes or no? ask the person next to you. she goes on for five minutes saying she answered it, but she won't answer it. this is the twilight zone. there's no way that joe biden, who has records that are at least six years old, that he doesn't have the ability to access or declassify himself. now we've got lawyers without a security clearance who will invariably be called as witnesses. it's going nowhere. >> geraldo: you're burying the
2:20 pm
lead. the lead is that they did ask the doj whether or not they should have fbi agents accompany the private lawyers. >> jeanine: who asked the doj? >> geraldo: somebody did. the doj apparently knew that the private lawyers were searching. i think it's on merrick garland. what is merrick garland? >> jeanine: the national archives. >> geraldo: you have the budding suspicion that merrick garland is really partisan. i hate to come to that conclusion. but if he pondered whether fbi agents should have accompany the private lawyers and then said, oh, no, you guys do it, that to me is on merrick garland, not on joe biden. >> brian: dana, the administration came out on the offensive. they said, let's get them on their heels by saying, hey, why are you so mad at us? why did the republicans come clean on the deal behind-closed-doors to give kevin mccarthy the
2:21 pm
speakership? what kind of defense is that? >> dana: you got to admire they're trying. >> brian: right. the administration can't be sure how many documents have already been handed over. once they handed over, they got confused. >> dana: and hot potatoes, i don't want to touch it, because they knew it was wrong. you know, the whole drip, drip, drip thing, worse than watergate, here it comes. they would love for this to go away, but at 5:05 this evening is when you find out, oh, actually you have another angle to the story. the white house press secretary tomorrow can be sure that these questions will continue. she'll have to go up one side and then the other and won't comment. mike mccurry during the lewinsky scandal had a great lineline, "i'm double-parked ine no comment zone." nobody is laughing today.
2:22 pm
they feel they've been given the rrun-around. maybe she doesn't know. i don't know if she -- at what won't did they inform her? is she playing catch-up? you have to act almost as a lawyer when you're the press secretary to say, okay, you're telling me this is true now, but none of this makes sense. so what are you going to tell me tomorrow that's different? you have to think ahead to three or four days. >> jeanine: and don't make me look like a fuel like i don't know what i'm talking about, because they already know based on tomorrow they'll know i should have known. >> brian: greg, you've been hearing people going back and forth the american people care about, so the pressure is on you to say something we don't expect. >> greg: that's a challenge, brian. by the way, great to have you here. >> brian: do you really mean that? >> greg: no. who is he? there's an argument that says, oh, this is nothing. it might be nothing, but that isn't the point. the way i look at it, how do you
2:23 pm
prevent the future hysteria that we saw when the media unleashed this insane amount of press about mar-a-lago or about trump's taxes or about the dossier? and i always say, i do the argument, we should be better than that when it happens, you know, we'll be the better person. that doesn't work. being the better person doesn't work. you have to return it in spades. so that way they learn a lesson the next time they're about to do something in which they go crazy about something that's not there, saying it's worse than watergate and so on. they'll remember, well, you know, the republicans can do the same thing. it goes back to, who knew this stuff existed and when, and did they hold it back to influence an election? wait. let me finish, mr. kilmeade. >> brian: go ahead. >> greg: do they hold it back to influence this election? because there's precedence for that. and such precedence only goes in one direction, just like the "wall street journal" thing. it only goes in one direction.
2:24 pm
so it is not about, say, the objective, protecting the election from late breaking fake news. that's the honorable thing to do, right? like we don't want to have the story affect the news, and it turns out to be fake. they didn't seem to mind the "access hollywood" tape. again, their interference only goes in one direction. if they tried to stop or kill the "access hollywood" tape, that would be different, but amazing how the press dropped that at exactly the right time. still didn't work. >> brian: we talk about documents being classified at the highest level. can you imagine if what's in those documents is the real story? the fact they exist in the wrong place is the story. but what if he reveal ukraine and -- >> jeanine: hunter biden. >> brian: we'll see. maybe that's why they said, whatever you do, don't tell joe what they found, when he asked i don't want to ask what they

merit awards from top students after the college application cycle. it was reportedly done to avoid hurt feelings, but the parents say the move cheated their kids out of thousands of dollars worth of scholarships. governor youngkin is outraged, saying, quote, they have a maniacal focus on equal outcomes for all students at all costs, and his attorney general is vowing to investigate. >> one of their directive to the school district was equal outcomes no matter what, even if it means treating some students, quote, purposesy equally. one mother says, my daughter has worked hard, and may not go to the school of her dream because she's korean american. that goes against everything we believe in this country. that's why we have this investigation. >> jeanine: dana, you talked about the drip, drip, drip. >> dana: this one too.
2:31 pm
>> jeanine: we heard about one school, then it was at that school, and hearing more and more about other schools. sounds like it was an organized effort to keep the information away from kids. >> dana: the parents happened to see the letter from the national merit scholars association on their child's desk at home randomly. what's this? oh, we just got it. oh, okay. that's when the parent calls. they say, oh, this was a unique circumstance. it's an aberration. this is not anything happening anywhere else. the attorney general you just saw, he ran his campaign, when he was running for office, on rooting out this woke nonsense that prioritizes equity and racial segregation over merit. so he said, i'm going to look into this. well, it's only been about 10 days. now we know that 13 schools were doing this. i want to know if it's just in virginia or a nationwide thing. is it, like, a secret bat signal
2:32 pm
that goes out to the schools, like don't put it in writing, but let's all make sure that we don't upset anybody by making sure they don't feel bad if they don't get a national merit scholarship. but this is a civil rights issue. that's what he's going for on this one. the other thing is, there's a group called parents defending education, and they've developed a massive database to figure out where the schools using public taxpayer dollars to hire woke consultants, where it was going. they found about $20 million in contracts nationwide. a huge amount of it was spent in virginia. he's doing what he campaigned on. we'll see how it turns out. >> jeanine: brian, the schools initially said, you know, it's because of human error, it was a unique situation. and now we've got the attorney general, he's going to sue for unlawful discrimination, a violation of the civil rights act. >> brian: you would know better, but if you're an individual that's supposed to get a scholarship, you get a merit award, these individual families should be able to sue.
2:33 pm
youngkin slammed the district for hiring a $450,000 a year equity coach. this started with the valedictorians. they decided not to have one, because we don't want everybody else to feel bad for not working as hard or being as smart. that was nothing compared to this, but we've got to smart. the asian americans sued to get rid of affirmative action, and they're getting screwed because they outwork everyone else. >> jeanine: what about a kid who has a dream, can run faster, works harder, to achieve that dream? >> geraldo: absolutely. this is unfair. it's creepy. it may be criminal what they did intentionally denying notification of winning a merit scholarship so you couldn't put it on your resume, so you don't get in the college of your choice. tens of thousands of many asian american kids affected by this.
2:34 pm
this is rotten. i think that -- i believe this is worse than the scandal, people paying to be on the fake rowing team and all that. i think this will be a bigger story. >> brian: it should be. >> geraldo: this is awful what they've done to these children. >> jeanine: most of the kids affected by this, were asian american kids. it's interesting they stopped admitting them in the numbers they had previously. >> geraldo: i'm pretty sure this happened to me. >> brian: did you a full ride to ucla basketball? >> greg: because the merit scholarship didn't come through. now i had to go to my second school, berkeley. >> brian: i'm sorry to hear that. >> greg: where did you go? >> brian: i didn't go. >> greg: i didn't think so. activists want everybody, the casual observer, to replace the word "equality" with" equity." begins with e-q-u. you hear more about quality and

less than equity. you asked somebody what does equity mean, and they'll use a terminology for quality equality, but it's not the same. it's important that people understand what the difference is. one is about peace and the other is about war. equality is defined as people having the same opportunities to achieve the same goals. we're all at the s same starting place. equity is we enforce limits on achievement so no one achieves more than anyone else. that punishes the really hard workers. that leads to war. that's socialism. so equity -- equality gives everybody a step up. equity crushes from above. you have to remember -- we have to remind yourself of this, whenever you run into this situation, because people are going to always try to replace equality with equity, and you can see it, like in news reports, they'll let the word "equity" fly by. that's an evil word.
