kyle rudolph, thank you for being here today. >> bill: great guy. always made the right decisions. >> dana: how are you feeling about sunday? >> bill: i'm nervous. i'll be in kansas city but you have to be nervous. >> dana: the more nervous the better the bengals do. worry yourself. >> bill: i shall, i'm there. >> dana: harris faulkner might not be worried. she have is a kansas fan. here she is. >> bill: good luck. >> harris: good luck, bill. we'll both need it. fox news alert now. americans gripped by economic troubles and some horrible choices they are having to make. this as the first two years of the biden administration and here is what the tea delivered. inflation nightmare, social security at risk, raging debt, the president says points the finger at republicans, though. i'm harris faulkner and you are in "the faulkner focus." biden yesterday tooting his own horn on the economy and going
8:01 am
after speaker of the house kevin mccarthy over the fringe bill that may not even come up for a vote. >> president biden: they introduced another vote. raising taxes on working class people taxing groceries, gasoline, clothing, supplies, medicine. even big ticket items like rent and cars. 30% sales tax on all those issues. speaker of the house says he is not sure he is for it now. blessed father free of sin. >> harris: wow, okay. speaking of not being able to get along. that would be a sign of it there saying things like that the president oddly was digging in over the debt limit. even though you saw on this program yesterday senator rick scott of florida and others now chiming in we're ready to negotiate with the president. the president is not interested in negotiation. >> president biden: the very notion that we would default on the safest, most respected debt
8:02 am
in the world is mind-boggling. i will not let anyone use the full faith and credit of the united states as a bargaining chip. >> harris: no mention of the $6 trillion and counting in new spending over his first two years in office. you know he wants to spend more. he also touted the fourth quarter economic growth. however, new gdp numbers are drawing comparisons to the great depression. a key measure of economic strength, real disposable income falling off a cliff in 2022. down by more than $1 trillion. a level that we have not seen as a nation since 1932. a new op-ed argues president biden's policies are not helping. here is a quote. the biggest risks to the economy other than higher interest rates this year are probably the tax increases in the inflation reduction act and regulatory onslaught that are compounding business uncertainty. charles payne host of making money on fox business. all right.
8:03 am
lean in hard on this and tell us what we need to know. >> let's start with the trillion dollars for the year. that's real disposable income gone, vanished. real disposable income, hourly wages have been down in this country 21 months in a row. guess when it start evidence? when the $1.9 trillion went out that sparked all of this. it's interesting. the president can brag about gdp, a nominal number. gdp at 5%. that's all the money out there. but real life, real struggles when -- i said this many times. if you can go in a store and give you an extra $1 hundred and you come up with one fewer bags, something is wrong. i gave you an extra $1 hundred. what you didn't tell me you screwed things up so bad it doesn't go as far as it would have gone if you would have let me earn it on my own. i like this warning, too. the tax and inflation reduction act and the war on business.
8:04 am
we saw a salvo chevron and a buy back. we need businesses to invest. we don't need the government to move out business. right now the federal government is too large a portion of our overall gdp and need to move out of the way. americans know how to invent things. all the great inventions if you think about over the last 20 or 30 years, 90% have come out of this country, they really have. >> harris: the only reason the president and politicians in general have their jobs is because of us. they wouldn't be sitting there if they weren't taking some kind of salary. it comes from taxpayer dollars and from our votes. our own larry kudlow as both networks fox news channel and fox business larry kudlow laid into biden and the democrats over their claims on the economy. watch this. >> mr. biden and the democrats will say anything. frankly it goes beyond cognitive
8:05 am
dissonance. it is a total law that they've used forever to attempt to turn a lie to a truth through reputation. mr. biden is out there today praising the gdp report for the fourth quarter. well, if i were you, i wouldn't, mr. president. >> harris: according to larry spending is now at 24% of the gdp is what we were talking about. a quarter of our total economy. he says isn't that enough? >> one of the reasons president biden lies a lot is because the media gives him cover. i tell you when it comes to financial reporting one of the things that gets me so upset. wall street they always take these consensus and go to analysts and get a consensus. all the analysts think whatever your number might be it will be down minus ten. then it comes in minus nine. it beat the analysts. it was strong. that one is like i want to scream. the gdp number, 70% of our gdp is consumer. down for the quarter.
8:06 am
here is the thing and the irony. wall street thought it would be close to 3%. retail sales was down big time. this morning personal income and spending. here is the thing. spending went down more than everyone thought. savings right now is back to 3.4% from 2.9%. the american public once again the person going in the store to getting less even though they have more money, they see something dark on the horizon. we went from 2.9 to 3.4 percent in two months. people are bracing for things to get worse. >> harris: they aren't listening necessarily to all the analysts the fact. >> they live life. they see i it. they've seen it before. listen. we were sift up a lot of money was given out and a great, fun time. everyone had fun. a lot of it was spent and we're paying a huge price for it. >> harris: who had fun? >> people spent a lot of money. airlines have fun. >> harris: now look at them. >> the ceo of louis vuitton
8:07 am
became rich. >> harris: look at the airlines. investigation into how eggs cost now. >> that's what happen when you artificially do this. there is always a cost. you can't just print money up and send out checks to get reelected. there is a cost a lot more than the money people had. the fun was short lived. >> harris: by only a few people. biden rolled out this familiar attack on republicans yesterday during his speech. >> president biden: they want to cut your social security and medicare. now this is the god's truth. almost unbelievable. >> harris: senator kennedy not letting that one go and neither did rick scott. >> well, that's -- president biden says my party, i, want to gut social security and medicare and medicaid. and that's just not true. not even george santos would
8:08 am
make up a whopper like that. and the president knows that. >> harris: oh man. >> no one is better than senator kennedy. >> harris: rick scott was on yesterday and he said we'll do everything that we can to protect not just social security and medicare for right now he said there is enough money but both of those programs down the road because democrats are the ones who want to cut it, medicare in particular. >> we have to be honest about social security. when it was instituted the average woman lived to be 62, the average man 59. never a sincere policy. we got the idea from europe. bismarck came up with the idea. offer them to push back. so we never -- it was never intended to do anything for us at the time. it was to play indicate us. we started living longer and the amount of money promised was never going to add up based on what they are investing.
8:09 am
we need to have a honest to goodness conversation. in europe you want to see what countries are raising their retirement age? europe where they don't like to work, they've got to work now. italy has gone from 65 to almost 70. netherlands, spain, every country in europe that's notorious for taking siestas, they have to work longer now. >> harris: does it include the two months of vacation during the summer? they could cut that time. i'm sure they have thoughts on how we work and how hard we work and how we don't take as many breaks. >> the point is there are things demographically. you can't have the same people say we shouldn't have people because they harm the planet complaining about social security. there won't be anybody to pay into social security. we're on the same path. we need to be honest. we cannot break the birth rate in our country or have -- argue that people should not have children and wonder where money will come from for the older folks who are retiring.
8:10 am
it is not going to work. >> harris: i was joking about the europeans. you know, this sounds crazy to me. i don't use that word lightly but it really does. this is the third week we're talking about gas stoves and the right for people to cook the way they want to cook. in the greatest country on the planet. the biden administration official who started it all and then walked it back is speaking out. a "washington post" profile calls the consumer product safety commissioner the man who unwittingly triggered the war over the appliance. he told the outlet the anger over a potential ban is misdirected and gas stove risks are real. he says people can decide for themselves. well, that's the important part, right? new op-ed tells gas stove lovers beware, though, here is the quote. don't believe for a second they aren't coming for your stove or the media narrative that
8:11 am
republicans are hyping a new culture war. there is a coordinated, calculated strategy to kill them off. tell us about it. >> it is true. this is where democrats are great. liberals are great. they plant seeds on these things so long ago. i saw these little articles here and there 5, 6, 78 years ago, harris. they plant them and start to get them in schools and then it starts to be a narrative in movies and then it is just so -- they really got the public relations part of this down. no one triggered it. it was a trial balloon. we're almost ready to hit the pedal now and for a decade laid the ground work for this and scared enough people just here and there. now let's float up the first trial balloon. this idea won't go away. >> harris: they must hate small businesses. >> they hate the notion of anyone in this country still believes they can pull themselves up by their bootstraps. nothing makes them madder than
8:12 am
that. >> harris: the millions of small businesses out there. name the big portion of them who are so eager to go out and replace every appliance they have to open up tomorrow. that's ridiculous. >> no one is. it's tough. >> harris: thank you. good to see you. happy new year. the classified documents scandal has caught up three names mentioned in talk of 2024 now. president biden, former president trump and former vice president pence. now the national archives is asking more former presidents and v.p.s to double-check for anything they should not have in their possession. that request went to leaders from the last six administrations. that time frame covered by the presidential records act of 1981. peter doocy live at the white house with more on this. peter. >> president biden is going to camp david this morning and -- this evening and look what happened when somebody asked him if he is going there because something is happening at his beach house this weekend?
