prosecutors have called several witnesses as they lay out their case against murdoch. the opening week featured graphic and revealing accounts from the first responders to the shootings of maggie and paul murdoch as well as information that appeared to contradict what alex murdoch investigators. text neither paul nor maggie has any defensive wounds. the evidence is also going to show both maggie and paul were shot extremely close range. quick's did you ever see the tears in your interactions with mr. murdoch? lexi did not appear to be crying he was upset i didn't see visible tears. quick's senior correspondent laura ingle is lined with more of the trial so far and what we can expect this coming week, lorber quick's hi arthel most of what we learned the first week of testimony was about the evidence in this case who collected it, where it was sent and how it was processed. alec murdoch is in charge of the brutal shooting death of his wife maggie in their 22-year-old son, paul on the family's hunting state in south carolina hold arriving officers he believed the murders can be connected to a deadly boating accident which his son paul was involved in telling officers is sent and received many threats after friend of his was killed in that crash. maggie and paul murdoch were both shot at close range leaving a bloodied crime scene behind alec murdoch was questioned by law enforcement that night, officers noticed there is no visible blood on his hands, arms, and his white teacher even though he told investigators he had touched their bodies to check them when he arrived. a detective told jurors last week about the victims devastating injuries.

>> absolutely. how do you get the attention of the parents? is it charges for them as well? quick's it's hard to pick charges on the parents. the parents should know what is going on with children today. these are a lot of gang bangers out there pretty is pathetic the police department is having problems recruiting people from the police department to get the gangs have no problem upping their numbers with recruitment. since covid and a number of things for this all comes into play. basic blame is on the d.a. and the judges for not enforcing laws that are on the books. these juveniles are committing the same crimes going out there doing the same type of crimes. they are having more violence. as i get more emboldened they become more violent people are getting hurt people getting killed. they really need to put the stop on it right now. that starts with the system the police making the arrest of bringing them to the das and the

judges turning them loose were not going to prosecute this. you cannot pick and choose the crimes they feel they want to prosecute. we can expect during the good work to protect and serve these guys are going to get out turnstile at a subway station. so why is it some of the das are not being heavily prosecuted customer for still getting out here doing the same thing we are all in danger as a result. >> these das are not held civilly liable for anything, neither are the judges. if a police officer does something wrong they are held accountable. if a doctor do something wrong there held accountable and able to beat sue to be the judges in the das do their job without risk and that is the problem for they have no risk involved they just do the law the way they see the law in their eyes. not with the law as written. that needs to change me the governor to step up through the das and are not doing the job

incentive to negotiate. democrats are looking hard at what's happening in the republican party. they note mccarthy is weak and beholding to this hard line waiting that almost kept him from a job in the first place. i know republicans cannot agree among themselves on what to cut. if those things continue to happen, unless something big changes democrats will probably just dig in. >> wouldn't that give the democrats reasons to come up with some solutions, toss it over to the other side of the aisle say here's our list of solutions what you have to get back to us? the democrats would then make the republicans look bad. >> it is a great question. but not as long as the slim majority of people are still blaming republicans for these types of debt ceiling fiascoes. we have seen it lots of times in recent years. 2013, 2015, 2019 when trump was demanding funding there is the

all of your viewers do you believe there's no waste in government? >> so, it's bigger mccarthy saith saying the only person in the way as president biden, you see it that way? >> i don't. i think mccarthy has enemies in his own party and that is the real problem here. in a typical congress the speaker of the house their incentives are completely aligned with their party. they want whatever is best for the party whatever will keep them in power. whatever will win them back the white house. that is not the same choice mccarthy has. this group of 20 hardliners will prevent him from passing a clean debt ceiling bill or it may be compromising with them bided and his job is on the line they'll take that vote to the floor and the only need one person to do that. we are not in normal times. arthel: ain't that the truth for the speaker also said he wants

to find a reasonable way to lift the debt ceiling take control of the runaway spending for it are you clear on speaker mccarthy's formula to make that happen as republicans in the example given the $50 million they identified in foreign aid to tunisia to promote tourism. maybe that's not a good use right now if u.s. spending. maybe that's not a good use of government funds. mccarthy could be right. however what republicans really want is to balance the budget in 10 years. in order to do that of military spending is not on the table, which they said it's not. a veteran spending is not on the table, if social security and medicare don't get cut you have to find 85% and discretionary spending of all other kinds and most are non- partisan know how that will happen.

you have really quick are you okay with having the military budget cut? are you good with having social security dividends cut? >> i mean i am sure there is some dod funding that can be cut. yes i think you have to look at all places. but, to get to the number you need for a balanced budget in 10 years, that is in very, very tough call. think who suffers here is the american public. when you default on the that not only does the market go haywire, recession could happen. the dollar. interest rates. it is horrible for everybody. in the short term you need to pay your bills. arthel: okay, i have to go. i'd don't think they will mess with social security. don't think anybody should do that. a lot of the same voters who put those folks in the white house are in congress they are going to say are you kind of out of
