the food and shelter needs of all of these migrants. it is unfortunate he chose not to do that. i'm not surprised. i wish some of these handholds would be met in the tunnel might have separate his head from being buried. >> ashley: he was only a mile away. this was a perfect opportunity if he didn't want to travel to the border to see what his lack of leadership at the southern border has caused and trickled all the way up to new york city. joe, i want to talk about the law enforcement aspect of this. todd, he was out there yesterday morning for "fox & friends." we mentioned there were police standing around. do you think this is diverting police what they are supposed to be doing for the taxpaying city? the new york city taxpayers and diverting it to relate to the migrants. and is it muddying up the situation even more? >> it certainly is and we are facing a budget crisis that is putting a squeeze on the nypd

every agency in new york city budget. basically the police department. and yes, dozens of officers are assigned to watch some of these migrants, whether talking about those at the watson hotel where we are talking about the ones that occupy several dozen buildings throughout the city. so it is squeezing the budget, squeezing the resources and that is why we see mayor adam so strongly come out against what has been happening. he's been fairly clear, let's be honest. he said weeks ago that it is full and they cannot release the hotel rooms. there is no hotel rooms to lease. when you hear about how women and children are given priority to these hotel rooms by asking single men to go to sort of a congregate shelter, this seems entirely reasonable to anybody but these wild, crazy, left us activist who really want to get more money to for nonprofits of new york city and change housing. >> todd: i'm glad you

mentioned the activists because being out there yesterday, it was clear the activists were running the show. something "the new york post" picked up as well. migrants are the only problem but so are the liberal activists whispering in their ears and pushing them not to leave the hotel. joe, give yourself new york city taxpayer. what do you make the goal of these migrants in these activists to say that what we are giving them isn't good enough? >> this is straight ou out of te lefty playbook. it's not even the upper-class part but the freshman interest up here they come out and say, everything is a result of the racist ego society and even our own shelter plan for the migrant spirit and the only solution is more funding, more resources going to the shelters which incidentally wrote by the same nonprofits. i'm not surprised. we see this all over the place. and really these nonprofit and advocate organizations have accumulated a large amount of

power in new york city and other large cities in america. they are playing these migrants as pawns. i'm sure they are decent people who will be influenced by them but unfortunately if i'm migrant, you're seeing a pretty good track record with advocacy groups because the city is basically bending down wherever needed. >> ashley: i'm not one to ever praise eric adams, but at least he is going out there and move to the shelter that we have set up for you. but my question, even though new york city is essentially new york city, these migrants are saying these to mike this is not good for us and we will camp out in front of the hotels causing chaos for people because really, this is not fair to new yorkers for people to walk through this every single day. is there anything to say if it's not good enough you can leave? or is it because sanctuary city is in place, they cannot be expelled in any way, shape or form? >> they certainly cannot be expelled, but we can offer them tickets on a bus to anywhere

they want to go. that is a point not being said that none of these people have a gun to their head. none of these people are forced to stay anywhere. all of these folks if they believe better resources better shelter, a better job elsewhere, they are free to leave and the city would provide them with transportation whichever final destination they would choose. they are staying here because the golden goose is pretty good in new york. we have right to shelter law, which the mayor is constrained by. he is under some obligation to provide the bare necessities. and that is what he is actually trying to do by opening up the large shelter. again, we are saying to women and shelter, we are asking single men by themselves, maybe you can build a larger facility to accommodate more people and hopefully low cost to new yorkers. >> ashley: one thing that will come back onto american taxpayer. thank you for being with us this morning.

don't need the most, snacks, those things that you did before is not happening. extra things like that is not something you can do anymore. speak to you tracy you said making six figures is not what it used to be. why do you say that? >> so you work very hard in your career with certain compensation and then when you finally get to the six figure mark, it just doesn't look the same on the paycheck once the taxes are taken out, which is a lot because you are in a higher tax bracket. on top of that your medical insurance and if you have a family, more in the amount you pay for the medical benefits. and then if you have 401(k), putting something aside for when you retire, even those deductions, once that comes out, the paycheck looks different on the gross versus the net. >> ashley: tracy, have you had

to cut in your budget just to keep things above water? >> oh, absolutely. with the increased cost in food and increasing gas and now kind of food the forefront now. so the prices of food and the car insurance has gone up and maintenance on the car. we have so many different things that we take care of out of our paychecks that are increasing as well. so those things taken out, yes, it hits you in the pocket a little bit more. we do use apps on our phone to make sure we keep all of our receipts. rescan to get points to trade those in and get gift cards and discounts. we are definitely cutting corners. >> ashley: amber and craig, how are you piggybacking off of what tracy said. this year has been the hardest. craig, do you see any light at the end of the tunnel with this? >> not currently know.

>> ashley: amber, what about you? >> no, definitely i haven't seen anything. but that doesn't surprise me at this point, quite honestly. i don't see anything easing up for us. >> ashley: you have young children and i know you were having issues finding baby formula for a while but how hard is this? do they not understand quite yet? >> we have a 10-year-old and a five year old as well. just my 10-year-old yesterday was saying, "mom, where is all the chips? where is all the cookies?" one, you don't need that anyway and two, that is something we have to do right now. hey, this is what a budget is. this is what inflation is here this is why we have to make the changes in our household and a great lesson to learn. and something to prepare to teach them firsthand without going for certain things.

>> ashley: have you guys been able to save money at all? >> no. >> ashley: tracy, have you? >> so, we did have an emergency fund at one time but once we had an emergency, it's been difficult to get where it was. >> ashley: i will ask the same question i asked amber and craig, do you see light at the end of the tunnel or the america as we know it from here on out? >> i've been optimistic and we've struggled for a while. i've speak and too many of friends and colleagues. many people are experiencing the same struggles. we don't know what is going to come over the horizon. so hopefully, things will get better so that we can have a little bit of relief at some points. >> ashley: amber, have you guys had to pick up second jobs to make ends meet? >> no, unfortunately i can't pick up a second job right now with the four kids.

that employee. you don't hire people to do a job to give their opinion about something. that is not what you think or how you feel. and you know, i feel like i say this every single day, but my husband has had this happen to him before. it's really gut-wrenching because they put their lives on the line they don't even serve them food? i have no words for these people. they deserve to get fired. >> todd: i'm not surprised this happened in the least because we talked about this and it happens to your husband all the time. what i'm actually surprised about, this was a trainee here that part of the story stuck out to me because how we got to that point in society where a trainee, somebody obviously in a probationary period at this job hoping to continue with this job has that assumption and overconfidence to act like that towards a police officer. obviously, the bigger issue is declining to serve the officers. and good on the pizza shop. i actually disagree with the

person that said they will never go to this pizza shop again. i think the pizza shop did the right thing here. they can't -- they can be held responsible for the person being hired. >> ashley: they are. >> todd: you take what you can get but they accept the responsibility and got rid of this guy before a bigger issue so kudos to them. >> ashley: but still, this is the situation you see over and over again. it can be in a topic and not just the police but it can be military they turned around. it doesn't just happen to police officers. the only business from a restaurant, you are there to serve food. you shouldn't have a trainee or any employee spouting their opinions. this story infuriates me. i have a hard time talking about it. >> todd: i think you hit on the important word but i think it is silly, the word food. this individual, this trainee denied a basic human need to another fellow human simply based upon their job. >> ashley: it stinks for the business owner of the restaurant that they have people saying

they will not disappear overnight but stay there and be stored on these files and used at any point. so whether it is general intelligence gathering or pulling down the road, we don't know yet. >> todd: as for the avid self how telling is it in the u.s., tiktok is basically here to dumb down our youth, whereas china tiktok is an educational tool where kids learn things like subject matters, math, science, et cetera. >> many call the application digital's fentanyl. the perfect way to describe it it is poisoning the minds of our children with depraved content and nothing like what the chinese are allowing their own children to view. they are a real-world implications for the kids are being promoted as bodily harm content. things that encourage them to behave in a way that for them and have long-term consequences. no one is doing anything to protect them. so the burden should be placed upon the parent entirely but the lawmakers should step in and bear the application. >> todd: to that point, number

of states have decided to ban the app when it comes to government devices. you are of the opinion, jake, tiktok should be banned throughout the country, government, private, no matter what it. >> that is right. you know, that is a great step forward the states have stepped up to the plate and bayonet on their own for the state devices, but it does not solve the entire problem. if you are on government wi-fi many states allow you to access tiktok on your personal pies. the reality of this application, i know if a governor worker on your device. not some maligned profile. they know who is using the application. so the the security risk the same. to make sure the sands, we have to ban it federally. >> todd: if it is not man and you want to tell the audience, remove it from your phone's like literally immediately before the commercial. >> absolutely. if parents out there reflect

back with your child over the holidays the extent to which they were on their devices and likely statistically speaking now, most of that was spent on tiktok. just kind of consider the content they are consuming here. none of it is consuming the behaviors or things that will improve their lives. encouraging them to engage in all sorts of terrible trends to put them down the wrong path. from the security concerns to the personal health it is absolutely the right decision to uninstall this from their devices. >> todd: what do you expect to learn from those tiktok seo from capitol hill? >> honestly, we will not learn a whole lot of new information. tiktok is proudly misled us throughout this entire process and trying to regulate and solve this problem. so, they might get up there and tell us everything is okay and china doesn't have access to this type of information, we can't believe any of it. i think the real story is we have all the information we need to ban the application and in

its entirety. this might be a great opportunity for a victory lap, but it shouldn't dictate the path for the word. the path forward. >> todd: we are all lawmakers and press the seal with real questions. are you worried the lawmakers are under the influence of the tiktok lobbyists as you well know have a huge presence in d.c. question like >> i think some of the members of the u.s. commerce committee have questiot more information out of this but none of it will be a big revelan that would change remove the needle here in any capacity. i think the reporting from forbes and other outlets has carried that weight and given us all we need to see in order to ban this. you are absolutely right when you mention lobbing, they spent $5.5 million this cycle. lobbing members of congress to slow this process and trying to extend the time. frankly, they are happening this is resulting in a hearing rather than us moving forward with legislation right away. when this hearing concludes, it

the first place? >> good morning, we have right now a curriculum adopt adoption process in the district for math and science. so we had a group of west valley parents uniting with a nonprofit organization. we had members from that group, grandparents, parents, community members going into the district office to view the textbooks in the district office. they are available for parents to see. we had parents reading through the textbooks that would be provided to our children, and it will be voted on by the school board this coming may. that is how we discover this biology book for high school students. >> todd: what was your reaction when you saw the text firsthand? >> i was pretty shocked. because i'm also a parent in this district. so, i was completely shocked at what i saw. it did not seem to think that this is what i had in high school growing up in this district. that is not what i remember in

my biology class where my biology textbook. so, it is just really crazy. >> ashley: do you think now that you've gone from being a normal parent to asking questions to now a board member that you will get more answers that really the school district and the parents and the children deserve? >> yeah, absolutely. i've only been in this new seat for about two months now. i've already started to ask questions and to make sure that we are holding the district accountable. and making sure that parents know what is going on, not only this district but arizona and across the country. and i think, i can only speak for myself. i can't speak for the board. but i think we really need to consider what is going on in district across arizona. >> todd: i read a general statement, to general statements about what was in these books. if you could, describe a little more detail what they consider

"biology?" >> so, they talk about the two -- i guess there is more genders now is what they are discussing in this textbook for a biology. and that it is not determined anymore on what you are born with biologically. it is now referencing that there is more ways for you to be either transient and are they are talking about intersects in this biology book. that is determined in researching more to figure out and we need to be understanding of that when the research comes out. i think that this is wrong to do for children because these are young children talking about. and the parents need to be aware of this in the textbook for biology. it talks about there is many variations that exist now. some individuals are born with

intermediate and/or sex characteristics and do not match the gender meaning transgender so that is what is actually in the textbook for biology and high school. >> ashley: heather when all said and done, what do you think will happen with this book? with a it through and will it be taught in schools? >> i really hope that they don't, but this book comes from a larger company that pearson company and that is something we need to look at, it is not just here in the school district but across arizona in the country. that is a huge curriculum company. i am hoping this does not go into our classrooms. i can only speak for myself and i would tell you i would not support something like this as a peer in the classroom. >> todd: here is what the district said providing us with the statement, the district cannot discuss resources consider that as part of the procurement process due to pending final request for proposal board recommendation. lot of words.
