balloon. it is going to depart at some time. we don't want this to happen again so shoot it down on the way home over mountains or when it gets back at sea. >> bill: we're trying to sort through the story right now. there are reports out there that anthony blinken's scheduled trip to beijing to begin on sunday this weekend has been postponed. that's out there right now. the move, however, with this air balloon is drawing more attention to the growing threat from beijing and american reliance on the communist nation. grady trimble from fox business in chicago has the first of many different angles to this story today. hello, grady, good morning. >> good morning to you. the sighting of this spy balloon is drawing attention to how reliant we are as a country on china across industries. for example, china owns a small but growing percentage of farmland in the united states. the city of grand forks, north dakota just put a stop to the construction of a corn mill by a

chinese company after it got a warning from the air force that it would be a national security concern. >> it was time to say no. not in grand forks. it was a long process but i don't think in the end if that's a threat it won't move forward. they legally own the land but not be able to build anything on it. >> beijing's influence over the united states is also growing in the tech space. more than half of states in the u.s. are banning tiktok from state-owned devices because the data could end up in the hands of china via the tiktok parent company bytedance. about 2/3 of lithium that goes into batteries for electric vehicles, phones and other electronics is processed in china. >> if we haven't learned yet we need to decouple ourselves from at least our food supply and energy supply and critical mineral supply and

pharmaceutical supply chains from china, we haven't learned anything. >> so you saw there republican lawmakers once again calling on the united states to reduce its reliance on china especially after this spying revelation. >> bill: more to come on this certainly. early stages, grady trimble in chicago on that. thank you. six past the hour now. >> dana: favorite part of friday shannon bream of "fox news sunday" will join us. shannon, if you are there i wanted to start out by talking about the issues that we have, maybe i have jumped the gun a little bit but i want to bring her in to talk about the china threat. you have senator tom cotton as a guest this weekend. he called earlier on maybe last night that secretary blinken should postpone his trip to china. it appears that's what's going to happen. this could be a very big "fox news sunday" weekend. what else do you expect before then? >> well listen, we'll talk to him about all these issues.

with china he has been a hard liner. this administration is not being tough enough with them and questions about the balloon. one of the folks out there saying they should take it down and strip it for intel. china said it is a civilian air ship tracking weather off course by a whole continent. we have a lot of questions and so does tom cotton but also talk to him about the classified documents that senators got the briefing but weren't allowed to see. he threatened to shut down judicial nominees over it. i have a feeling china will be front and center in this conversation. >> bill: the list the long, shannon. start with china and move to what we found in the fox news polling from the past 48 hours. we wanted to know from americans how you describe the border. they believe it is a national security crisis by 47%. followed by humanitarian crisis
7:08 am
at 42%. i have to think the national security issue goes directly with the number of those on the terror watch list who have simply walked across the border, shannon. >> yeah. that's something the president's critics. democrats and republicans alike pointing to the border say we have got a number so far in this fiscal year which started in the fall that it is probably going to outpace any year we've had so far of the number of people on the terror watch list showing up at the border illegally. a big issue. fentanyl is a national security crisis as well. also in the polling numbers the president is upside down by 25 points on the issue of immigration. so it is clear the american people feel like that lays at the feet of the white house what is happening there. so record breaking numbers in december. the late friday night drop we got on the number of incidents happening at the border with people showing up illegally and the numbers of gotaways we are
7:09 am
getting as well. they'll say yes, we have caught x number of people on the terror watch list. what do we know about the millions of other people in the last couple years who have come across the border with no contacts with law enforcement? >> last four months 2400 a day on the gotaway category. >> dana: the ones we know of. last weekend you interviewed governor sarah huckabee sanders and now she will give the republican response to the state of the union address tuesday night. speaker mccarthy had this to say about her. call for number three. >> we've got the youngest governor in america, sarah sanders, and the first woman governor in arkansas and the very first father/daughter ever to be governor of a state will give our state of the union response. we're excited about it what she has been able to achieve so far as governor in arkansas. asme -- i'm very excited.

>> she said she didn't have higher office aspirations. she just started in the governor's office. what else should we know? >> you guys know she came out of the gates, hit the ground running. she was not pulling punches to explain how serious she was about getting started. she has issued all of these executive orders that deal with the use of certain what she would say is woke terminology, use of crt in schools and trying to give money back to parents to allow them to let that follow students from school to school. she is really pushed back on a lot of things in a very big way right from the beginning. so i think it's interesting that this leadership over in the house decided this is a model and what we want to look for to a young leader in the party and the youngest governor out there and until dana does something about it the only former white house press secretary governor. >> dana: that lane is completely
