needle tomorrow. peter is the senior editor of 1945.com and coferls chinese military hardware and technology. what exactly is in this damn balloon? >> honestly, jesse, if this was a russian balloon and the russians told us it was a weather balloon. i believe it was a spy believe since the chinese are telling us it's a weather balloon i'm almost thinking weather balloon double bluff from china. i think the fact that they are talking to so much about it today that it's leading newscasts that it's on every website. china is really milking this. they are convincing american people we need to look to the skies like it's 1950's sci-fi flying saucer movie, kind of terrifying us here. i honestly for all i know it could be a leftover balloon from last week's chinese new year. >> i'm really not that scared. it's a balloon. when the united states goes and spies on china or other countries we use an sr-71 black bird that can fly across the country. here in the united states it set a record being able to fly across the country in like 15 minutes. they have got a balloon take days. amtrak is faster to get across the country. >> jesse: you are saying that the chinese let a little balloon fly over america and they're laughing at us now as we are all just like gapping up into the air? >> i honestly think so. i think this is story much about nothing. goes back to chinese subterfuge. tell the enemy enemy what it is because they will think it was something worse. if this was russia and they said it was a weather balloon, well, hey, they probably don't have any good spy balloons in russia. but we would think it's a spy balloon. >> jesse: let me ask you this
4:11 pm
then. this thing isn't just zigging over military installations because the wind blew it that way. it's being controlled. you are saying it's not spying on us or listening to anything that's going on down here? >> it could be doing a little bit of that. i bet it's listening more than it is watching. russia, china, the united states. we all have satellites that can do that kind of stuff, that can move over. the thing about a balloon and if it is a spy balloon, it's less predictable. so we would have that advantage. the technology with miniaturization and stuff like that, it could be listening into our cellular calls. it could be, perhaps, listening to our radio signals. again, i'm still not convinced. i think, you know, perhaps china wants to see how we are going to react. i was discussing with a colleague today and he had suggested maybe they want to see what our reaction time for a missile is. maybe they want to see if we would have a plane fly high enough to be able to shoot it down. so, you know, to me, i don't think we should do nothing.
4:12 pm
but i also don't think we should be fearing this is invasion of the balloon people. >> jesse: i like knocking things out of the sky. i think every red blooded american does. i don't like the idea of someone watching me or listening to my phone calls. ckaboom. spy balloon, weather balloon. whatever you call it. i'm calling it good knight. thank you so much, peter. >> thank you very much. >> jesse: also here with me tonight is general keith kellogg. do you have that type of attitude well, you know what? they are just messing with us. this is psychological warfare? >> no, i don't, jesse and thanks for having me. look, this balloon has a package on it. the support package underneath it with sensors is as big as a fire truck. itit's a huge balloon and suckig up information. the beauty of a balloon and by the way balloons have been used in warfare since the 1800s it loiters and can sit for a long time. picking up signals, picking up communications and it's going
4:13 pm
over our most sensitive sites. it went over air force base home of to the 341st missile wing and goes over the other two wings or missile wings, so it's going over the icbm fields where our 400 missiles are. now it's over whiteman air force base where our b-2's are if it gets to kings bay georgia he trifecta all three elements of the triad. this is the chinese gathering information. and they are using the balloons the way that he have been used in warfare for observation, for intelligence, and they are gathering it. i'm with you 100 percent. they should have taken this thing out a long time ago. when it got over montana, that thing should have come to the ground. and look, jesse, when you shoot a balloon like this it doesn't go pop and flies down fast. it slowly deflates. it doesn't go rapidly. and then we pick up the sensors they have got on board and that would have been important. the reason they were pretty confident about it. yobleg i don't think they believe biden was going to shoot it down and he didn't. he is the commander-in-chief.
4:14 pm
if his military generals came in and said don't shoot it down he should have said go to the backyard and take off your rank. he is the commander-in-chief. he should have shot it down. he should have protected u.s. interest he didn't do it. >> jesse: can he overrule the generals, he is the commander-in-chief. you are saying the debris line is bogus because it floats down and lands and not going to blow into smithereens and take out a small town. >> no. i don't believe that at all that information is coming from the same people that said kyiv, ukraine was going to fall within three days. that's not true. we have shown before when we have tried to shoot down a balloon that they deflate slowly. so take it out, get the sensor package. hand it to secretary blinken. have him go back over to china. hand it to president xi and say here's your package back. thank you very much, don't ever do it again. there is nothing in that package right now because it's all transmitted back. so there's nothing hard in it. but it's a transmission package going right back to china.
4:15 pm
and if i -- i think there was part of what was said earlier is true. i think they are looking at how we react to things. they keep pushing the envelope, how are we going to react? how are we going to move our military around? this is going to eventually going to go into what is going to happen with taiwan. how aggressive is joe biden going to be? and i don't think he is aggressive at all. he needs to prove to the chinese he is tough enough. show the american people you put something over the united states of america, that has capability of intercepting our communications our signals, we're going to take it out. >> jesse: all right. you think they floated this balloon so blinken wouldn't come over for dinner? >> i don't know. my concern is where the thing is going to end up at. i'm serious, jesse. if it ends up over kings bay, georgia he has the trifecta on the triad. >> jesse: see where it goes. apparently the wind is blowing it randomly. thank you so much, general. >> thanks, jesse. >> jesse: joe biden drained his savings account and he just took
