for the briefing on the chinese spy balloon floating across the mainland last week. navy divers are working to recover debris after air force after air force f-22 fighter jet shut down the balloon on the coast of south carolina on saturday. according to senior u.s. defense officials, the balloon launch from china january 21st and crossed into alexis go january 28th. idaho on the 21st and several states including a handful of military bases before it was finally shot down. let's take a close look at the five air force bases the chinese was spotted near. two in north dakota, one montana, another wyoming, and another nevada. i spoke to senior administration official who said another chinese balloon crash near hawaii four months ago and the same official telling me, "the surveillance balloons with the transit united states during the prior administration went undetected. the official tell me the

and secretary blinken actually postponed a visit. quite frankly, it was made public several days after it entered american airspace over the aleutian islands. if i had been in the administration i would recommend that they cancel this immediately and number two, the aircraft be brought down early on. it should not have been allowed to traverse the continental united states for a week. >> ashley: i want to read this statement from china, china's "under such circumstances the u.s. force is an overreaction in serious violation of international practice. china will resolutely safeguard the interest of the company concerned and reserve the right to make further responses if necessary." what do you think that response of china will look like, especially in the short term? >> my overarching concern is

that china will continue its malign activities all across the world. it is not just a question of u.s./china relations, but i think the chinese will go after her interest internationally. so, i have her see that the chinese will increase their support to the russia federation. there has been talk about secretary she visiting putin and that will be a very, very blatant demonstration that the chinese are supporting their partner, moscow. i also envision the chinese not only being helpful on north korean nuclear and missile provocations, but perhaps increasing the support to north korea. and of course, taiwan, taiwan is
