they expect tonight and what they think the country is going right now. >> brian: hybrid. state of the union about to announce re-election. what do you think about the job i'm doing. this is discuss where the world meets. the only person in the race is former president trump joe biden everyone assumes he is getting in the race. now you look at some of these poll numbers. you see how low the vice president is polling. and you wonder, is this the ticket that the democrat are going to get behind? there's going to be a lot of drama and people are going to be looking for the text of this speech and the passion in which it's delivered. >> ainsley: according to the latest a.p. poll, three-fourths of the country or those that they polled say we are on the wrong track. foreign policy, national security, those two topics are expected to be the among what's discussed tonight. >> steve: and the president's address comes as we learn debris from that downed chinese spy flight is now heading to the fbi lab at quantico in virginia for an examine by experts to figure out what they were doing. >> brian: let's everyone talk about the balloon gate.

alexandria hoff joins us live from washington. alex? >> steve, ainsley, brian, good morning. a white house official tells fox news that the president is expected to, quote: reassert america's leadership around the world. speaking about strategic competition with china had long been planned. official indicated that it won't be in reaction to the spy balloon. the white house says this indicating that the focus is going to be on the economy, quote: president biden will show the american people his plan to build on the unprecedented deficit reduction whose leadership has already delivered by having the richest taxpayers and big corporations pay for fair share and lowering prescription drug prices. ignoring that spy balloon will not be easy. right now the remnants of that chinese surveillance tool are set to be analyzed in a couple of days according to a senior u.s. government source. the wreckage was recovered from south carolina waters just about six miles off the coast after it had traversed the continental united states before being shot down. >> has it always been your view to shoot down a chinese spy

government enhanced their surveillance of our airspace and they enhanced the capacity to detect stuff that the trump administration did not simply see. and then they went back and looked at historical patterns and they uncovered multiple instances when these things flew across the united states. the trump administration never knew about it. yesterday, you saw jennifer griffin, she was in a pentagon briefing with general glen vanherck, who said that the united states determined these things belong to china only after they left u.s. airspace. who knew until now? >> ainsley: when it comes to the trump administration, they said they didn't know. >> steve: they didn't know. >> ainsley: denied by trump and denied by john bolton who is not a huge trump fan anymore. ratcliffe, esper and o'brien. the difference here is if -- if the defense intelligence or deference officials are correct and this did happen over the trump administration, they didn't know about it. >> they didn't. >> ainsley: that's the

difference. joe biden knew about it on january 28th. the saturday before the saturday when it was actually shot down. we had plenty of advance warning. it was off the coast of alaska. why didn't they shoot it down when it left the property of alaska. left the land of alaska and went into the ocean or over the ocean? they failed to act. and then these journalists five days later in montana in billings, start taking pictures of this. they notify the intelligence community. they notify the press. they do stories on this. then america finds out about it. then they shot it down on saturday, on february 4th, days later. they canceled blinken's trip. people are wondering do they not want you to know because they wanted blinken to go over there and be friendly with china. did they not want you to know because he doesn't want to address it in the state of the union address. >> brian: if robert o'brien if secretary of state mike pompeo was cia director did not know. if the chief of staff did not know and president trump did not know, if the secretary of defense, mattis, did not know,

did this is epic failure of communication between norad, between any type of surveillance equipment we may have in texas. that it went 1,000 miles deep into texas if we don't know about it if they believe we are going to give a private briefing to the trump people if they ask. number one, the fact that anyone is communicating a chinese balloon can come through. that's one thing. can you debate on whether it happened or not. robert o'brien and pompeo really have huge reservations about whether this took place or not. number two is what do you mean it's not a threat? under what planet are you on that a chinese balloon, surveillance balloon could fly over sensitive military sites and you say to yourself. >> brian: 520. >> brian: you say it's no big deal? this is incredible. for the president to say on wednesday, shoot it down. for them to say no, not really. we will get to it when it gets over water.

we have a medley, we have a mixture. the democrats on this side. registered democrats here in the middle. but moderate. and then three republicans on this side. thanks y'all for being with us. tonight's state of the union address. what exactly are you all looking for him to say? what's the most important issue? brian, i will start with you. >> there is hopelessness out there. i think that's even worse than the financial condition. i think people don't like the direction the country is going and i think we're going to ask people who thinks the country is going in the right direction? i think the numbers will be abysmal. that has led to a hopelessness right now. is it ever going to get better? he has to have a better strategy than blaming former president trump. >> ainsley: thank you. marissa is in the back. stheef is a democrat. what's important to you tonight do you think he should address this chinese spy flight that we saw and shot down? >> absolutely. so foreign policy is on the top of my mind right now not only just the chinese spy balloon. what was it doing? what information can we get from that? also, he needs to talk about what is going on in ukraine, of course, and the crisis at the border.

so as a democrat those things are at the top of my mind and i'm really interested to hear what he is going to say and how he is going toen held accountable to all of us. >> ainsley: keisha, as a democrat, polls have been taken and most of them are unanimous they say they don't want him to run again. most democrats don't want him to run again. a.p. poll just taken and three fourths of the country say he is not doing a good job and majority of democrats said why hope he doesn't run, how do you feel? >> right, i think that there is a disconnect between the democrats and president biden. i think a lot of americans are not rest signatureating with him. i think he needs to come out a little stronger. and tell us what his plan is instead of what i'm not. okay. i'm not doing what former president trump did but, okay, let us know what is it that you want to do different for these next two years? >> ainsley: who do you like if

he doesn't run again? who would be your candidate if he didn't run. >> i'm not sure. >> ainsley: we still have two more years to consider it? >> yeah. >> ainsley: christopher, you are a republican. what would you like to hear from him tonight. director of economic counsel said the message should be we have to make more progress but people should feel optimistic. >> i'm always a big fan of what is going on here in the home front and the american wallet right now is struggling. credit card debt is climbing. it's showing that americans can't live in america. real estate values are plummeting. it's becoming harder to buy a house. we're forcing the country into becoming a renter's nation not because they want to but because they have to. >> ainsley: and right here in the middle of the front row you are a registered democrat but you are a moderate. what are some of the things you want him to talk about tonight? we had talked during the commercial break and you said something that we all agreed with you about we had forgotten about education. that's so important to you. >> i'm a school mom in new york city i don't think our education

is going in the right direction. we are lowering the bar. there is not much rigger at all in what i'm seeing in my daughter's classroom. >> ainsley: what are you seeing in the classrooms? >> it's dumbing down. there's a lot of focus on dei n schools and higher education and in companies. and kids just don't feel like we're being treated equally. and we're really lowering the bar and teaching to the lowest standards. and we can't be that for a country. and we want to see him talk about you know, improving our he had carriage standards. >> ainsley: kyan, how about you? do you have children. >> yes. >> ainsley: do you worry about crime and. >> most definitely. my son is 19 in college. we grew up in an area where the crime rate pretty high. seems to be worse at this moment. there is too many kids dying for senseless reasons. and we're even getting into areas schools where i'm from in

urban neighborhoods. kids are bringing guns to school. it's just outrageous and out of control. >> ainsley: why is that? how do we reverse it and why do you think that is. >> honestly, i think it's a mental health thing. i think we need to focus more on that. it's a gun control thing. but i think that mental health weighs into it because kids need to be talked to, we need to watch out for signs of kids that have these mental issues. and we just need to speak to them and get a perception of where they are coming from. >> ainsley: madeline, how many children do you have? >> i have five children. >> ainsley: are you worried about putting food on the table. when did you go to the grocery store things are more expensive. gas prices much higher than they were when he took office. >> thank god my children are all adults, all right? two of my children are deceased. one was murdered. one died from accidental fentanyl overdose.

>> ainsley: oh my word. >> my youngest son just left home. he is currently in fort bragg. he is a paratrooper. >> ainsley: god bless him. >> he escaped the hood. he escaped the hood and he went on to get some real badges of honor. so, be i worry about just the everyday daily day-to-day survival in new york. not just because my paycheck doesn't stretch from paycheck to paycheck but also for my safety. all right. taxes are out of control. the economy, things are getting way, way more expensive. i can't even afford pay my rent half the time. i'm robbing peter to pay paul. i am what you call amongst the working dirt poor. all right? the middle class has been pushed down into the working poor. and the working poor is being pushed down into the working

dirt poor. so, this is where we are. you know, this is the reality. the truth on the ground. and i would like to hear president biden, all right, for once, tell the american people the truth. speak truth to the issue. stop trying to be so politically correct. all right? and tell us what it is that is really happening because we already know. we are living it. we are experiencing it. every single day, stop gaslighting the american public. >> ainsley: brian, right here on the front, she brings up a good point. no mom should have to bury their child. she has buried two. fentanyl is a big issue. immigration is a big issue. china, what are you wanting to say about china? fentanyl is made in china. >> china is not our friend. >> they are our enemy. you talk about electric vehicles and batteries and energy independence. we're putting ourselves now in a position where we are going to be energy dependent on china to manufacture batteries. i don't understand it.

and it's part of that green new deal. now, they have repackaged it and changed it into something else and telling us that this is good for the environment and good for our people. how are people going to afford vehicles when they are forcing us to buy electric automobiles? i think both of these panelists said really resonates with me when you talk about guns in school and talk about losing children there is a sense of hopelessness. if kids had -- if they were optimistic in school. if there was a better life for them something to look forward, to there would be less attraction to guns and to drugs. but both are the same. the guns i'm going to get some strength and be out there on the street. the drugs, i got nothing better to do. if there was alternatives and what happened to our america? this guy was supposed to bring -- they said the adults are going to take over again. this is anything but that. this is an out-of-control administration. i want to see him address that. >> ainsley: y'all, thank you so much. i know you are going to be here with us for the next few hours. you will be our panel and brian will talk to you and steve will talk to you, too.
