security issue economically if you fact or in what's being talked about now. what happens if chinese starts purchasing oil on the global market? china's brazen infiltration of our airspace is a key topic. we're learning it hasn't been the first time. republican mike rogers chairs the house armed services committee. >> the biden administration allowed a spy balloon to look at our nation's military sites. it was intentionally launched as a show of force. we have to stop being naive about the threat we face from china. >> harris: well, they were on full defense the administration and pentagon about the timing of taking down that spy craft. the white house deflected on possible additional china spy flights on biden's watch. >> the chinese surveillance

balloons program has been around for some time. when the surveillance balloons transited the continental u.s. briefly three times during the prior administration and once that we know of the beginning of this administration, but never for this duration of time. this is something -- this is something post. this is something that we -- they were not aware of as we just laid out. >> harris: transited. she could have just said was flying over us for eight days. brand-new navy photos now just into fox news, look at the screen. salvage crews collecting the remains of the spy craft from china off the coast of south carolina. some of that debris has already been sent to the f.b.i. laboratory in quantico, virginia for analysis. bryan llenas is live off the coast of myrtle beach close to where they are collecting that debris. bryan. >> harris, good morning.

we are about five miles off the coast of myrtle beach as close as we are allowed to be. what we do have exclusive footage from the fox news flight team. a drone over the field. you can see warships that are doing what they need to be doing, salvaging the debris. on my camera you can see this is a ship over here on our camera. we have at least three coast guard cutters here that are creating some sort of a boundary there to make sure nobody goes over towards the debris. the debris what we're told on the surface, the majority of surface debris has been picked up. this has turned into an underwater mission, about 50 feet below the ocean the remainder of these chinese spy balloon or air ship is down there. now they are working on trying to salvage it. it is the size of a regional aircraft jet. a couple thousand pounds. it left a debris field the size of 15 football fields by 15

football fields long. you mentioned those photos. it is the explosive ordnance disposal group recovering the remainder of that surveillance balloon over the weekend and understanding the u.s. pathfinder is a survey ship using special sonar and underwater vehicle technology to locate the debris. coast guard cutters are here as well as navy divers are working to get the debris being brought on board the uss hall. f.b.i. and naval criminal investigative agents are available and an ordnance team in case the ship was rigged the explosives by the chinese. the norad commander said he had eyes on it before it approached alaska.

president biden battling crisis upon crisis since last year's state of the union address. the mounting list of controversies looming over his head ahead of the big night. the "new york post" today calling out the biden administration's latest headache of the china spy flight. the national security threat looming over biden's speech. another buzz kill brutal numbers. those polls showing the president is underwater on his handling of almost every single key issue. cnn even laid it out with this headline. biden is in a weak position heading into the state of the union. the president expected to go hard after republicans. we know he does it every day. they are not optimistic that americans will get words of unity from the president or the truth tonight. >> i don't think joe biden will be reaching across the aisle. i think he will try to lecture house republicans and double down on his failed far left

policies that we've seen for the last two years. >> i think it will be rainbows and unicorns, ma'am. you have a fentanyl crisis and border out of control. >> we won't address the things he will fail at. the american people deserve accountability and transparency. >> harris: pollster lee carter. we haven't seen each other since a live audience election night and hard at work talking with voters ever since. the state of the union. each president has his own challenges. >> the state of the union only speaks to the base. most people don't watch it if you don't like the president. so this is an opportunity to launch his campaign for 2024 and try to lay out what it is he will be trying to do. he won't change huge swings in approval numbers. that rarely happens. but what he does need to do is show he is very much in touch

with the issues and a plan to make things better. >> harris: let's look at the polls, some of them. another one now showing that even president biden's fellow democrats don't want him to run again. only 37% of democrats say yes to a re-election bid. the white house press secretary trying to field a question on those brutal numbers. here she goes. dodge ball. >> the president has been clear he intends to run and i think the way that we should look at this is what we saw from the mid-terms. we saw what happened in the senate. we saw that yes, republicans now have congress but by a slim majority because the president went out there and spoke directly to the american people. the president always said this. watch him and see what he does and i think he has a record over the last two years that shows that he has delivered. that is the numbers we'll pay attention to. >> harris: as promised dodge ball. the question was about low

polling. and she says watch him. people are watching. that's how you got the low polling. >> that's right. if i were the president i would be most concerned about now is 42% of americans, only 42% of americans say he is honest and trustworthy. when he took office, democrats and republicans together. when he took office it was 60% of people said that. the reason in many ways he took office was because he was honest uncle joe. people trusted him to take care of us. that has flipped. 16% of democrats say he is not honest and trustworthy. he has an issue when it comes to that. when he speaks tonight, if he comes across as completely out of touch. that will hurt things even more. if you remember in 1975 gerald ford the state of the union address said you know what? the state of the union is not strong. we have a lot of work to do. joe biden would benefit from doing something like that. most people feel on every issue

feel terrible from a national security, immigration, he is under water on every front. the only thing he can take comfort is people don't trust democrats or republicans any more than they trust him. >> harris: quickly. the state of the union speech. sometimes presidents, half a time i think you have reported before, see a bump. but is it sustainable? >> no. you might see a small bump up to 5%. that would be significant. it doesn't happen most of the time. i think we'll see him stay relatively flat. on certain issues he might make progress. you see the president try to lay out and agenda and say what i'll do to address immigration or china or address the economy. something that will make us feel better on one of the issues and that's what his real goal should be tonight. >> harris: it sounded like an hallucination on china and immigration. who knows? >> he did tweet he has been

applaud and go to his next blow smoke area. this is what happened to our country. >> harris: joni ernst and iraq war veteran and retired lieutenant colonel in the iowa national guard and a senator. first of all words like domain awareness gap and how they didn't see it. i believe it was an american citizen who first spotted this thing in the sky. >> it was, harris. thanks to that person for raising the issue, of course, with our federal government. and if there are gaps that exist out there we need to fill those. that's why we need to focus on strengthening national security and making sure that our military leaders have the equipment and technology that they need. we are in a race against china and we need to make sure that we continue to strengthen our military so that we don't see these domain gaps in the future.

rio grande valley sector in texas and tucson sector, in arizona are testifying about president biden's failures at our southern border. it is a grim assessment hours before the president is due to deliver the state of the union address. administration tried to block some witnesses from testifying but caved to the pressure from oversight chairman james comer. >> administration officials continue to say they are creating a quote safe and orderly humane immigration system. but reality contradicts this propaganda. fiscal year 2022 set records for the number of arrests of illegal border crossers and number of migrants who died and narcotics seized and even the number of suspected terrorists arrested trying to illegally cross the southern border. this administration must do more to protect our southern border. they must do more to protect the american people. >> harris: senator, you were

among the republicans who are doing more and with the majority in the house i'm wondering in the senate if you are more hopeful than ever. first of all, tell us what you saw there and your trip to mexico as well. >> yes, thank you, harris. i led a delegation to the mexican border. we went to the port of entry at san diego. the busiest land bridge we have with 70,000 vehicles coming in and out of that port of entry every day. 20,000 pedestrians use that port of entry every day and they are understaffed and undermanned and don't have the technology they need. we were quite aware of that. we heard from officials that fentanyl continues to cross at an alarming rate. we know that san diego is the epicenter of the fentanyl crisis as it is coming in from mexico into the united states.

from san diego we went to mexico city. i believe that we should be doing more with mexican authorities continuing to develop that relationship so that we're both working in a collaborative way to combat fentanyl, the arms trafficking and human smuggling opportunities that exist with the cartels. we need to push back against all of that but we need good partners and we are leaning on the mexican authorities to assist us in that manner. >> harris: former president trump did, too. when he had to get tough he threatened to use tax -- i'm looking for the word here, please help me out. >> value added tax and so forth. >> harris: thank you very much. i do want to say this. it is alarming. you have a border czar with kamala harris, that's her home state. it was clear that there was a structure up in san diego and i've often said i wonder why she

didn't go home where they bring in the epicenter of bringing fentanyl and why she didn't go there? >> exactly. here we have a border czar and yet she is not actively engaging on what is one of the worst crises that we have seen in decades in this nation when it comes to drugs. we aren't just saying methamphetamine and cocaine now. we're seeing an epidemic with fentanyl and over 400 iowans in the last few years have been killed by fentanyl overdoses. and so it is extremely important that we address this. every state is now a border state because of president biden's failures to address the situation. and we have a border czar that is not even visiting the border dealing with the issues at the border and enabling our homeland security officials to do their job. >> harris: in a place he benefited from the wall in her

claim on the campaign trail. >> president biden: there are 50 former national intelligence folks who said what he is accusing me of is a russian plant. they have said this has all the -- five former heads of the c.i.a., both parties say what he is saying is a bunch of garbage. >> harris: three former twitter executives will testify now before a house panel. that will happen tomorrow. the focus will be on how the social media platform limited that laptop story. >> they spent two years denying that laptop was his. then they said well, the laptop had been altered. now threatening to sue everyone because the contents of the laptop have become public. it has been quite a transformation watching hunter biden's legal team. what we want to know from twitter executives walk us through the policy. what was your policy to determine what is disinformation? >> harris: let's do it.

trey gowdy former south carolina congressman and host of sunday night in america with trey gowdy. great to have you in "focus." what is the journey and the policy with these executives at twitter that we know of? >> near as i can tell do whatever you can to suppress negative information about democratic candidates and do everything you can to amplify negative information about republican candidates. if that's your policy that's fine. people need to know that. what jamie and jim and mike turner want to know is what the government involved? this isn't just a private company doing what they want. was the f.b.i. putting pressure on you? think about this for a second, harris, we spent four years investigating alleged russian collusion, russian disinformation. how much time are we willing to spend about american disinformation about russian disinformation? you had two people who knew from the get go this was not russian

night, show me the documents that were found at trump's place. i have an idea of the motive he may have had in taking them. if it is letter from a foreign leader to show your grandkids it's wrong but i knowed to know that. if it is something else that went into a book or hypothetically was involved in business decisions, i kneed to know that too. how can i ascertain the motive in why you may have taken them until i have seen them? >> harris: the examples you were given on the biden side because we know they were in the garage, house next to the corvette and we need to know what's in them. that's the thing as i often say. as we look ahead to president biden's state of the union speech tonight some people are pointing out some of the promises that biden did not keep from last year. >> president biden: we need to secure our border and fix the immigration system. too many families are struggling to keep up with their bills.

inflation is robbing them of gains. that's why my top priority is getting prices control. the deficit will be down to half of what it was before i took office by the end of the year. the only president to cut the deficit by $1 trillion in a single year. >> harris: we've seen the border crisis get worse than ever in the history of the united states. with december's encounters numbers increasing by 40%. inflation and gas prizes have eased slightly but still crushing americans. most recently going back up. the national deficit went up by 12%. new op-ed warns expect biden to deliver the opposite of his promises in the state of the union address. >> i think there is a reason, not a single republican wants him to run again or be reelected and a majority of the democrats don't want him to run again. so when you are facing a

headwind that what, 3/4 of the people that you purchase port to govern do not want you to run again i would find it refreshing if he just stood up tonight and said look, i want to be reelected and this entire speech is about my re-election. his inaugural address he talked about unity more than any other inaugural address. do we have new-found unity in this country? what frustrates me the most you are fact checking what he said a year ago. i wonder how many other people are? i wonder if we even expect our leaders to be honest with us in their addresses? i think every address is like a campaign speech. it is not an accountability speech, it is a campaign speech. >> harris: that's raw truth right there. when they say the state of the union is strong or it is not they are being honest with us. we want to believe that.

democratic party. >> well, i think she hasn't really stepped up to show that, you know, should anything happen with president biden, god forbid, she is ready to the president. one of the key qualifications of being vice president. she has given a number of tough assignments like the border and she didn't really take the lead. we saw in the past vice presidents like al gore took the lead on the environment or anti-terrorism. so her portfolio hasn't worked out the way that it should have. she was given tough assignments. it doesn't seem to be a lot of love between the president and vice president. this happens frequently. but mostly she hasn't made her mark as someone who could successfully handle some key issues in the country. she better get going. >> harris: wow, mark penn dishing out the vegetables for kamala harris. can she recover? kellyanne, you are one of the

most positive people i know. can she recover? >> thank you. probably not. i think kamala harris is damaged goods. her problem as you correctly point out is among democrats. they are no longer whispering about it in washington. they are saying the quiet part out loud to no other than "the new york times." i am fascinated by the fact they would run a story like this. other outlets are running similar stories people who work for her and with her want her to suc succeed. they all roundly criticize her lack of doing the work. that's the theme here. to succeed you have to show up, speak up, put up and stand up and do the work. her polls are as bad as biden's, his first big decision that he announced to the country that will saddle him and every democrat sitting in the chamber in the u.s. capitol tonight will look at kamala harris and say why aren't i there? last point, in washington, d.c.
