the hunt for the killer after the councilwoman was found gunned down in her car. eunice dwumfour was remembered as the first african american to hold office in her burrough. >> eunice dwumfour saw our community and saw her residents. we can all learn from her, her love of family and loyalty to her oath of office, she taught me to have faith in the process. and that is a gift that i don't think i can ever repay. >> marianne: surveillance footage shows a suspect running, the figure is seen running shortly after a 911 call was made after residents reported hearing six to nine gunshots and heard the sounds of eunice

dwumfour's white vehicle slamming into other vehicles. a video camera caught eunice dwumfour speaking to the suspect shortly before her death. there is possible video from dash cams or businesses in the area that may have had cameras. eunice dwumfour leaves behind a 12-year-old daughter and was recently married. the fbi has joined in the hunt. >> todd: horrible tragedy, thank you. called in bomb threat halting murder trial of alex murdaugh. the courtroom forced to evacuate just as a witness was being called to the stand. >> we have to evacuate the building at this time, we'll recess until we discover that is going on. >> todd: they continued with the tr

trial. the data appearings to suggest alex visited his mother 20 minutes before he alleged he found his slain wife and son. >> ashley: paying respects to fallen officer adeed fayaz. officer fayaz died tuesday after three days of fighting for his life. he leaves behind a wife and three children. police say the officer was gunned down by suspect randy jones when he responded to a facebook ad to buy a car. >> todd: arizona rancher george allen kelly charged in the shooting death of a citizen

mexican citizen. it is going to take a long time to review. police were called to kelly's ranch on reports of shots fired and found a deceased man. his friends say he's had trouble with migrants illegally using his property to cross the border in the past. kelly due back in court on february 22nd. apples, it is the issue of change in culture from a swear to tell the truth law enforcement agency to more of domestic intelligence agency, which potentially poses danger to all citizens on right and left. >> todd: how deep do you fear this weaponization has spread? >> well, it is becoming part of the culture, that is the danger and the culture has to change and that is what i and others keep telling the current fbi hierarchy. >> ashley: you said there needs to be an independent bureau, tell us what the bureau needs to focus on and how can americans trust anything, be new independent bureau or the fbi. >> well, ashley, you just touched on the big problem. americans have lost faith in the fbi, an organization they used

to hold in the highest regard because it adhered to the guidelines ever the constitution and operated like a law enforcement agency. beginning under the reign of bob mueller, it was changed into an intelligence-driven organization and that is where it got off the tracks. >> todd: the left always champions themselves or did as the party of "civil liberty," mr. baker, what happened? >> well, civil liberty should be a concern for people on the right and the left and the tools being misused threaten people on the right and the left. it is current effort to change things and current efforts of congressman jordan committee viewed as coming from the right. the left is threatened just as much potentially. >> ashley: i'm sure yourself being a former fbi agent, it is

disheartening to go through this. what are your thoughts this is even happening right now and did you ever think this would happen? >> no, and it is a danger and challenge for a nation, but personally, someone in my pog, we find it heartbreaking. i look forwards to the day the fbi can get back on track as law enforcement organization where people raise their hand and swear to tell the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth. now it is like an intelligence agency where the truth is shaded and we have to change that culture. that can mainly come from the fbi, but congress has a role to play in shining a light on this. >> todd: you do believe the doj and fbi can be reformed, correct, thomas? >> i'm always an optimist. it can be and needs to be reformed, it will be hard, the effort and worth it and nobel.

going toward, somewhere it would benefit better? >> certainly. revamp of the college system is in order. we have a decrease, it is part of the market that says community college is not working for people, they are looking for education help them get jobs like hvac and electrical jobs. we are back in the old system of making sure union are taken care of and we are taking california state taxpayer money and propping up the community college system and making sure unions are taken care of to take care of democratic politicians and goes back and forth. >> ashley: student debt leads the nation, you talk about revamping the system. what would you do to change it? >> we need to make the system more user friendly, to get jobs that will pay them enough to

have a living wage. california is incredibly expensive to live, a lot has to do with the government, unrealistic regulation and taxes. if we ask people to live and work in the state of california and bring income to the state of california, we have to prepare them for jobs and give them enough money to live here. >> ashley: this bill just proposed, do you think it will pass? >> it is california, i would think every kind of -- will pass. we have seen that in the past. another thing that bothers me, nibbling the edges of the concept borderses don't matter, open the border and let everybody do what they want. where does it end? do we give unemployment benefits to people that are not citizens? do we give a free attorney to somebody or give healthcare to

fighting for her kids that is your number one job as a parent. you need to raise them to be good citizens, but it is your job to protect them, grow them and make sure they have a good path in the world. which you have a school board and a school system, school infrastructure that is trying to subjeigate your child and rights as a partner, you should speak up, should be able to speak up and not be shunned like this woman by the state board of education. >> ashley: here is glenn youngkin speaking, listen to this. >> what is stunning to me, they will support a board member who believes that we shouldn't teach our children tconstitution and declaration of independence. this is at the heart of the parent movement. >> todd: think about that, again, normal versus crazy, that is a campaign slogan.

>> well, of course, i was on the opinion side of things. i was totally shocked, like everyone else that morning. mi thought it was a great scoop. it seems like we had reported it very thoroughly. and then we saw 10:00 in the morning facebook announced it would quote, ungovernment reduce circulation on the story pending fact checking. and twitter all together banned the story not only could you not share it on your public timeline but you couldn't send it in direct messages. and then they suspended the twitter account of "the new york post." america's oldest continuously published daily newspaper funded by alexander hamilton and kept it that way for two weeks. that's why it's extremely, i think, enraging and shameful to hear someone like representative alexandria ocasio-cortez call this a waste of time. you know, at its best, at its best, the old left was about checking concentrations of corporate power. and there's no better example of this kind of market power to

but i have to say, in some ways are, the fbi question, which they honed in on so much could be a red herring. because, even if the fbi weren't there, it would -- it would be no better if you had prioritized censorship it. would make no the situation no better if this wasn't directed by the fbi. and, to be honest, again, as much as i cheer republicans for doing this, the time for hearings is over. the time now is for action. and action on taking away the law that allows social media companies to act like this. and then the fbi are not a fan come into it. 196 law communications decency act which allows companies like facebook and twitter to act like publishers, censor things but without bearing any of the traditional publisher's liability. you take that away from them, and that's over. but, facebook, twitter, others do an enormous amount of lobbying to prevent us from

reforming that. again, it's very shameful that the left who normally is supposed to be concerned with concentrations of corporate power is also indifferent to this. in fact, as you said, they want it. >> ashley: it took years to get to this point with investigations in the hearings. but what opportunity to see come out of this? >> well, i mean we want to see the truth. if there is collusion with the fbi. that's important. we should know that because then it directly implicates first amendment issues. that said, what i really want to see is reform. taking away big tech power to impose on privatized censorship regime on american citizens. the likes of fox news, "new york post," me and you, we can withstand it. we can speak out. what i worry about is ordinary people having that chilling effect where if i say such and such a thing i lose my online identity. i become a nonperson. that is profoundly unamerican. it takes legislative reform. that's what i want to see.
