2:16 pm
>> do you have anything to say about the object shot down over alaska, mr. president? >> success. >> lawrence: president biden reacting after ordering the pentagon to shoot down a second high altitude object flying near alaska a few hours ago. >> on february 9, north american aerospace defense command detected object on ground radar and further investigated and
2:17 pm
identified the object using fighter aircraft. the object was flying at altitude of 40,000 feet and posed reasonable threat to safety of civilian flight. no further detail about the object, including description of capabilities, purpose or origin, the object was about the size of a small car, not similar in size or shape to the high altitude surveillance balloon taken down off the coast of south carolina. >> lawrence: they are telling us it was not manned or maneuverable. the military is trying to recover it now, there is a chaness it came down on ice. it let china fly their balloon all over america. >> it is a really big area up there, not many planes issue not in the middle of the northeast corridor, some reason -- >> the president wasn't willing to take that risk in time because this thing did not appear to be self-maneuvering
2:18 pm
and therefore at the mercy of prevailing winds, much les predictable. >> lawrence: strange president biden acted so quickly to shoot this object down and yesterday said this about the chinese spy balloon, watch. >> do you regret not having insisted on bringing it down sooner? >> no, the total amount of intelligence gathering going on by every country around the world is overwhelming. >> lawrence: judge, i'm confused, make it make sense? >> jeanine: you can't make sense of this know ma. he doesn't regret not taking it down sooner. i want to move forward and based on where we are now, lawrence, it appears they admitted they had awareness gap, they didn't really analyze that section between 60 and 100,000 feet where the balloons are generally flying and so now they

apparently have standard operating procedure. they did not have that procedure this past week because they say the chinese spycraft and didn't tell the white house until the 31st, there was no standard operating procedure. now we have a plan, know what we got to do, the white house has to be performed and i, lawrence, i was comfortable today with the people that i heard after they said they took this smaller balloon down because it might get in the way of civilian aircraft. the people that i saw were competent generals who understood, who were fluid and glib with the facts and knew how to communicate. the president doesn't know how to communicate, i don't think he knows what is going on. i hate to say that, the truth is the american people are aware and we'll not tolerate it and lisa murkowski was furious it

went over her state and now we've got china relations biden trying to say everything issin foo until judy woodruff said, have you spoken to him since? he said, no, and general would not accept his call. we're not in a good place right now. we have china that wants to be number one in the world militarily, economically and see us as a threat and sooner or later, this is going to happen. as long as we're on our game, i'm happy. >> lawrence: greg, is america looking like a joke, that was china or some other nation, it is obvious they are taunting the u.s., right? >> greg: here is the thing, now we will shoot everything, shoot down like condors and balloons, angels, kites, that could have been the goodyear blimp. they said this rein "object"

dissimilar to balloon, it is not a plane, not a drone, it is obviously an et, nothing on earth fits that description, get ready for the cover up america, they will say it turns out it was a weather device, no, we know what happens and what is going on, if i happen to disappear over the weekend, it wasn't suicide, trust me. >> lawrence: sandra, what are your sources tell you you in intelligence community? they acted differently in this situation, i don't think any american is criticizing them for acting with swiftness here, why didn't they in the other situation? >> sandra: i had mark esperon our 2:00 hour when this was breaking, we were able to listen to john kirby announce this together and have him react right out of it. my question was similar to judge jeanine pirro, go back to the
2:22 pm
judy woodruff interview, he was asked about relations with china and his mention of china and whether or not that leads to deteriorating relationship with china, he said no, she asked how he knows and he said he just knows. shouldn't she be on speed dial, someone in china asking do you claim this object, especially after we just took one down from the sky in the past week? that doesn't seem to be happening. this is a ufo, unidentified flying object, simply, we do not know who claims this, why? why don't we have a quick answer to that? i will also finish with this. how many more are out there? was this already in the air when the other was taken down? was this sent after that? there are huge questions. i don't know if we know anymore within hours, days, weeks is there dozen more in the sky?

we just don't know. >> greg: stinks, i tell you, it stinks. >> jeanine: the ribs? >> they were good. >> lawrence: the criticism of the president has become bipartisan and the threat of china bipartisan and looks like all the democrats or hawks are coming onboard with it, do you think that the president has the strength, he has the mental capability from being over foreign relations and understanding diplomacy, looks like this is i a threat, does he have the defense background to defense the country? you have robert gates that say he can't make the call, he never makes the call. >> jessica: it is not having general petraeus or mc crystal, he was head of the committee for a long time, has strong relationships on the right and left with people who have served and after the intelligence

briefing yesterday, there were republicans and democratic senators who emerged and said they think it was handled properly. and judge brought this up, as well, this object was flying at 40,000 feet, which is when we're in planes we are at 36,000 feet, there was potential to go into an aircraft. the chinese air balloon 60,000 feet, f-22s couldn't even get there. what can we do with this until it dips down to where we could take it down? on top of it, the president on wednesday, said last week take it down, shoot it down, they said we have to wait until we can safely and we're going to have a better recovery process if we do it over water and they picked myrtle beach for the location of it and jesse took issues with the idea divers were weak and can't go in the cold waters.
2:25 pm
>> greg: how dare you smear jesse when he's not here. >> you are trying to say joe biden is weak. >> lawrence: he has a diplomatic back ground, but keeping america safe, does he have that ability? he may not be robert gates and neither was president obama, but he knew how to go after osama bin laden. >> jeanine: robert gates said he was wrong on every decision he ever made. >> jessica: we criticized obama on the decision in syria, and hillary clinton wanted to go in there and he pulled back on that and there has been criticism on obama on foreign policy and there will be criticism on joe biden on foreign policy. joe biden is the president, the second the ukrainians needed help, he got in there and he spoke out of turn about defending taiwan, that is not what xi jinping wants to hear.
