i know your favorite commercial. we'll show it later in the broadcast. dana, two moments i want to take our audience to last night. a lot of people talking about two things. interference call toward the and of the game at the two minute mark called against the eagles. we can debate whether it was the right call or how it changed the outcome of the game. i can tell you, dana, chiefs in all likelihood would have still gotten the field goal. the controversy. would the eagles have given enough time to come back and score again? the defensive back guarding on that play said i tugged him. i thought i would goth away with it. it was the right call. kudos to him for saying that. patrick mahomes, roll the video. this guy showed nothing but guts. he contributed to the reputation he has as an outstanding player because right before halftime that's the high ankle sprain that the whole league has been watching for the past month. he fought through it and led the

kansas city chiefs to their second super bowl victory in four years. as a bengal fan, dana, it pains me to say that and be here. congratulations to kansas city. this was a battle well won here in arizona last night. more coming up in the game momentarily here in arizona. >> dana: also big news in the sky. watch here. lawmakers on both sides of the aisle want answers. they are not -- they are demanding president biden break his silence. the military intercepted fly objects. on the heels of the chinese spy craft shot down off the coast of south carolina what's going on? chief national security correspondent has more from the pentagon. >> well, most americans were watching the super bowl we were getting briefed by norad.

u.s. officials who i spoke to who could not say for certain what these objects were but said the reason they were shot down is they were flying much lower than the chinese spy balloon and could have threatened civilian aircraft. >> i believe this is the first time within united states or america airspace that norad has taken action against an airborne object. >> they were about the size of a car as opposed to three buses. they didn't have a steering mechanism. the chinese spy balloon flew at 66,000 feet. these flew closer to 20,000 feet and seemed to be carried by the jetstream. one was shot down over alaska. it hasn't been recovered. another over western canada and third that first popped up on radar systems over montana not far from the air base there. it reappeared in michigan and was shot down by an f-16 over

lake huron. asked whether these were weather balloons the head of norad could not rule that in or out. >> are they weather balloons? >> i won't categorize them as balloons. we call them objects for a reason. i can't say how they stay aloft. it could be a gaseous type of balloon inside a structure or some type of propulsion system. >> the u.s. war planes sent to get these objects that floated into u.s. airspace were flying too past to make a positive identification. the reason u.s. radar systems are picking up these objects the u.s. homeland defense adjusted the radar widening the aperture. >> we have adjusted some of those gates to give us better fidelity on seeing smaller objects and you can filter out by altitude. with some adjustments we've been

able to get a better categorization of radar tracks now and why you are seeing these overall. a heightened alert to look for this information. >> the chinese government put out a statement saying that the u.s. has flown high altitude balloons over china ten times. at least ten times since the start of 2022. national security spokesman at the white house has denied that and says it is patently untrue. >> dana: thanks for being with us this morning. we appreciate it. >> bill: these bipartisan calls for president biden to finally say something and give americans answers on these aerial objects. >> i have real concerns about why the administration is not being more forthcoming with everything it knows. >> the biden add min is sits to proverb us.

>> the military plan needs to determine the dangers that go with it and what's out there. >> i believe the american people are owed an explanation. if they are serious enough for us to send out fighter jets to shoot down it is okay for the american people to know who is behind this. >> bill: john ratcliffe former director of national intelligence. thank you for your time. you have been on the other side of this previously in the administration with donald trump. what would explain why we know so little? why they are telling us so little so far? >> i think you have to look at this in the big picture, bill. i think they are still analyzing what we'll call objects numbers 2, 3 and 4. but what we're getting is a clear picture that one of these is not like the other. so it goes back to this may be a simple overreaction to an underreaction. so we know the first object was a spy balloon. it was 200 feet high, had a

payload bay and surveillance bay. we've been told the numbers 2, 3 and 4 have none of those things and are maybe as little as 1/10 the size, not maneuverable, drifting with the wind. bill, the other thing is the excuses we were told why number one, the chinese spy balloon couldn't be shot down have drifted away with 2, 3 and 4. we can't shoot it down over alaska. the second object was. couldn't be shot down over land or continental u.s. and that went away with numbers 3 and 4. it goes back to one of these is not like the other. the first one was badly mismanaged. i think some of this the biden administration is scrambling and don't have an explanation or aren't giving explanations for what they are doing with different objects numbers 2, 3 and 4. >> bill: so what i hear from

that answer is they don't know yet and putting this together. michael mccaul has a different explanation. here he is from sunday. >> these spy balloons have great capability to gather and collect intelligence. the imagery they can capture and other intelligence data i can't be specific about can captured and transmitted. they have control over these balloons. it was an act of espionage in plain view of the american people. >> bill: that last point this is espionage in plain sight. is that a case? >> he is absolutely right. absolutely right about the first instance. a dedicated flight path over our most tensetive military and nuclear sites and critical infrastructure. p respect to the chinese spy balloon. nor add commander says 2, 3 and

4 they aren't characterizing them as balloons or chinese or spy balloons. they say they are drifting slowly. they have different characteristics. we simply don't know. the point is this. people are filling in the blanks and speculating because the biden administration is not addressing this or being transparent or giving good explanations for what is going on here. i think that's a huge misstep and disservice to the american people who shouldn't be having to speculate about this. our lawmakers should be getting apprised by the intelligence community and the military community. >> bill: i have 30 seconds left here. i agree with everything you just said there. the weekend serves as a distraction for millions of americans. so the game that was played here. it is monday. would you expect to give us -- them to give us an explanation today in full? >> yes, absolutely.

i think they -- you know, think about it this way, bill. with respect to items -- objects 2, 3 and 4 if these were aircraft that went down with potential survivors or passengers they would be there and find a way to be there and collect the information. so to say that we haven't been able to recover everything or get to it. we don't have much information is really just buying time to try to explain. they have to give the explanations and they have to give them quickly. people have -- they've run out of rope on this. i this i the thing to keep in mind at the end of the day what we do know is that china is the threat that many of us have been saying for years. don't lose sight of the first episode which was a dedicated spy mission successful for china and national security failure for the united states. >> bill: john ratcliffe, thank you for your time. former head of the dni. we await those answers today with baited breath.

of south carolina. bad weather forced a pause over the weekend. 1 of 4 recovery operations across the u.s. and canada. bryan llenas is in myrtle beach, south carolina. what are you finding today? >> good morning. it appears that operations are up and running again. behind me is where the navy has been off shoreing things to the debris field off the coast of myrtle beach. the weather has cleared up today and expected to be good for the majority of the week. we have a live look now at some of these inflatable boats before being loaded up and dealt with now. the spy craft -- the search for it -- was temporarily suspended over the weekend because of bad wets. the first of now four ongoing recovery operations following the shoot down of three unidentified objects over the weekend. here the navy knows what it is looking for.

defense officials knew it was a chinese high altitude spy craft and knew the equipment on board. air ship is the size of a regional jet. larger than the objects shot over alaska. defense officials reiterated why they did not shoot down this china spy air ship immediately like they did these other three unidentified objects. >> in the case of the balloon it was flying at an altitude that did not pose a threat to civilian aviation. and so that was part of the criteria for bringing it down over the water when we could safely do so in addition to its enormous size. it was 200 feet tall. payload the size of three school buses. >> still congressional members are questioning why the spy craft was allowed to fly over sensitive u.s. sites for a week. >> we're now shooting these down left and right and what are the

one of the positive things that is coming out of this certainly is the fact that listen, we did detect the first spy balloon. it left china around the 21st of january and entered u.s. airspace 28th. somewhere we picked it up and tracked it the whole time. based on that, we went back and i think this is a good thing the government did. went back and said what do we know about chinese fleet balloon strategy and we uncovered several balloons we did not detect. so now we're doing an autopsy on that trying to figure out why that is. do we have to adjust the radar parameters to pick it up. we made adjustments to pick up these balloons, the second, third and fourth one flying at different altitudes. that's a positive thing. what has happened here we made policy changes here. in the first instance it took us 3 or 4 days before we told the

president the spy balloon was over the united states. the second third and fourth we told him almost immediately. in the first case, we waited a whole week before we shot it down. second, third and fourth cases we shot down within hours and it didn't appear to be a threat that the first one was to the united states and we're claiming the reason we did that was because of the danger to civilian aircraft. we're used to rerouting civilian aircraft in the united states for all sorts of reasons. it begs the question about that. so listen, i think what really is going on here, dana, we need an explanation from the president. this is historic what has taken place here. eisenhower was in office when norad was formed in 1958. from every president up to the current one, not a single president has ever had to defend america's airspace. president biden has done this

four times, three times for america, one time for canada. he has taken hostile action to defend our airspace. we have yet to get an explanation in detail from him and the defense department in terms of what has taken place. prime minister trudeau went on the air with his defense officials immediately after the aircraft was taken down over his country and told his people what he knew. the american people deserve, really, to get facts. i get it. we don't have all the answers. we may have had some miscalculations and judgment calls that we would do things differently. i don't think for a minute that we would ever permit a chinese spy balloon to fly across america again. we'd shoot it down before it got into our airspace. let's tell the american people that if that's what we've learned. they are adults and can handle this kind of information and handle the fact we don't have all the answers. let's talk to the american

monday there today. greg, hello. >> hello, bill. we're in the turkish port city. as bad as we have seen in the past week. it is a week since the earthquakes here and the mood is changing. we were at a couple of excavation sites. it is more and more a grim recovery. bodies being taken away. we saw scenes of destruction. folks facing the same kind of challenges elsewhere in the region. quite strong, they need shelter, food, water, power, heating, you name it. the death toll mounting now over 35,000. the injured multiples of that. but some of the injured, including in this town, are being cared for. take a look at what we saw.

>> dana: scary moments for passengers on a flight from scotland to new york. flames shooting from one of the plane's wings forcing it to make an emergency landing less than an hour after take-off. 200 passengers and ten crew members were on board. no injuries reported. delta is blaming a mechanical issue with one of the engines. it looks to be true.

woke sports. they try to destroy everything by identity politics and slicing and dicing. what i've seen. hundreds of thousands of people behind the scenes, white, black, asian, hispanic did everything they could to put this game on for fox? do you know how many incredible stories there are for all those guys who ended up on the field? all the coaches? to watch that game and to have that experience and come out of it and say oh, this is waconda. it tells us more about usa today, a broken institution. >> you know there is no color on a team if you play team sports. you are teammates. >> i wish people could see all the wires. i wish they could see when we came yesterday to do the "fox news sunday" with shannon bream the number of people behind the scenes. the sun is not even up and the amount of work that goes into this. i thought it was a home run.

receive. here we go. >> dana reads sports. >> dana: the super bowl wasn't the only big game yesterday. we can't forget the 19th annual puppy bowl. team fluff beat team rough to take home the trophy for the second year in a row. the halftime show by a cat named furry. 100 rescue dogs took the field. it boasts a 100% adoption rate and hopefully this year is no different. even more pets featured during the super bowl including my favorite. a tear jerking ad from the dog food company showing an adorable lab puppy and its owner all through the years. i texted bill and said that was my favorite commercial. i did watch the game, too, though, guys, i did. >> bill: you have to do your homework, right? dana and i text a lot, right? but it is a hard thing to do when you are in an arena.
