sort of action. >> ainsley: china claimants spy plane shot down south carolina was blown way off course. >> brian: no one is buying it. peter is live at the white house. >> the latest is this spy flight was headed for hawaii and guam but was blown off course by wind, that is what an anonymous u.s. official is telling reuters but very few officials on capitol hill believe that. you don't coincidentally veer over some of the most sensitive u.s. facilities right in the middle of the country. that's just not a coidges path. >> peter: that would be some wind as south carolina is a world away from guam. and hawaii and as the spy flight parts dry out, the fbi is trying to gather intel secretary of secretary antony blinken may meet with chinese counterpart

of course no one buys that why the administration trying to sell us and why the vice president doesn't come out and say this is a major breach as does the president who says i made it clear to president xi that we want competition. we don't want conflict. really? they are the aggressors, forcing this on us. and we're making the very mature decision not to look at it as aggressive. they want to be aggressive. and it their rhetoric from here on in is aggressive. which translate as weakness. >> steve: so, what we know for sure, according to reporting on this is apparently those -- we know the first thing was a spy balloon from china. we know that because we watched it take off from an island island in china in january. now the thinking inside the government by the analyst. the super smart people who study this. those three other things that we downed. not surveillance machines. although we won't know. according to the experts until we actually find some debris

and, you know, don't hold your breath on that. now, the thinking is that they were designed as weather research or scientific and simply balloons that stopped working. >> brian: how could we not know that. >> steve: essentially airborne trash. apparently there is a lot of it. the other thing they can't figure out why the spy balloons' kill switch, it had a self-destruct function that did not activate. normally if they thought the united states was going to be able to bring it down and look at it, they would blow it up. but, for some reason, it didn't blow up. however, the thinking is china may have tried to blow it up and destroy the evidence but they lost control of it. >> ainsley: we just want to know why were they spying on us? what information did they get? what did they hear? >> brian: five years. >> ainsley: these other objects, we don't know why they shot them down. we haven't gotten any information there are sources that say the president is going to speak. he is leaving to go to poland on

monday they are hearing sources saying today. we just don't know. everyone is asking him, please, we need more communication. but some democrats are saying but he doesn't have extra information. if he speaks, then he is not going to give us any new information. we just want to hear from the leader of this country to make sure we are all safe and what they are shooting at. what they know. mike pompeo says the same thing that many others are saying, we have more questions than we have answers, listen. >> we know there was the balloon that transited the continental united states we know that the biden administration now knew about this early on and chose not to take it down before it began its collection everett over the united states. the chinese are squawking saying it was a weather balloon. we know it wasn't a weather balloon. and we know that they had the capacity to control the places that it went. as i also heard the biden administration say it was just drifting. that's not fundamentally true. they were able to maneuver this with some specificity. the last thing, i have heard even some republicans say goodness, they have satellites

what could these balloons possibly do. as a cia director you want many views, many possibility, you want sound, you want imagery, you want all of those things. and a low flying balloon over our military installations is a significant, not an insignificant event in the united states of america. >> ainsley: what are they planning? >> brian: keep in mind, china not only isn't apologetic they said yesterday that america abuse force and overhe is indicate lated used these throat illegally sanction chinese companies. china will pose -- impose counter measures which i think they are doing. >> ainsley: they are claim would he go had 10 balloons over the last year over china. >> brian: we don't have a balloon program sadly. i will add this they sanctioned raytheon defense departments which prevent them from, i guess, expanding factories in china. i think if it takes china sanctioning american companies to get us out of there. please sanctioning, please. >> ainsley: we have changed how the military is sanctioning and responding to these types of

captured, and what is actually -- we have no idea what actually got through these ports of entries or been snuck over in backpacks, senator ted cruz let the dea administrator have it. >> dhs's responsibility is to maintain the southern border and the ports of entry. our investigations do tell us that the vast majority of fentanyl is coming in the ports of entry two particularly in california and two in arizona. >> we're cutting the number of cbp agents in half hurt our ability to stop drugs, yes or no? >> senator i believe it would. >> this is a crisis but it is a man made crisis. this administration made a conscious political decision to open the borders. >> brian: not pressure china on fentanyl and he is 100 percent right. you can't have a strong argument that they didn't destroy our border. >> ainsley: it was a mom on fox. i watched an interview with her. her son is addicted to fentanyl. she said a, i'm scared that he's going to die.

but, b, we have spent so much of our resource was trying to get our child the help he needs it's torn up our family. it has made us all so stressed out. can you imagine if you are going through that? so many american families are and the stress that that puts on a family. and it's happening -- how many people do you know that have -- you have heard have died of fentanyl? i think i have heard like three or four over the last few months. >> steve: so many families, absolutely. >> ainsley: people that are connected to me. not even just news storiess we wehave done. >> steve: steve scalise said within the first two weeks of the new congress they would pass some sort of legislation regarding imgray, fentanyl and everything like that. but, apparently, according to the d.c. news sources, inside the republican caucus they are split. they can't decide what kind of legislation. they can't decide okay, we are going to put all of our eggs into impeaching mayorkas or coming up with some sort of legislation. right now.

♪ >> steve: a lawyer for gabbatha's parents accusing brian laundry's mother of offering to bury a body in a secret letter, the mom wrote to her son. the laundrie's are being sued by gabby's parents for emotional distress over the pair's 2021 road trip that ended in her murder while they confirm the letter exists, they say it predates brian and gabby's trip. our next guest has been following this case since the beginning. fox nation host nancy grace joins us now. okay. so, one of the lawyers said, hey, yeah, i saw -- i went through some papers with the fbi, and i saw that the mother wrote him a letter. >> yeah. you know, this letter, if it exists, and i have reason to believe it does exist, having been in the custody of the fbi after brian laundrie committed suicide, remember, out of that carlton reserve, 25,000 acres of

basically swamp, this was found in his backpack, we believe, and it says and i quote: would bring a shovel to help bury a body and on the outside of the envelope says burn after reading. reportedly written by roberto laundrie to her son, brian laundrie after the death of gabby petino. this has come out as a part of a infliction of emotional distress lawsuit by gabby's family against the laundries and their lawyer. >> steve: right. well, here's the thing. for their lawyer to say oh, that was written before they made the trip. it's like who are they thinking about burying then? >> is there another dead body? we don't know about? >> steve: right. >> of course, the response by the laundries is well we don't have a duty to the petino family. but, if you look at what the petinos are arguing, they are

body language. somebody accused me of killing my husband david and my only son, i would do a back flip. and here he just has his arms crossed and says "do you think i did it"? no reaction at all. i have watched this jury. they react hardly at all when they hear testimony, but i can't believe that they didn't look over at him aghast at his behavior. also, what he says in that interview that was just played less than 24 hours ago yesterday afternoon in the courtroom, it conflicts with other statements that he is now giving. so, that was a bombshell for the state. >> steve: no kidding. quick exit question for you, and that is so during this trial, you have been watching as much as you possibly can, do you think murdaugh's defense team has introduced enough, you know, other stories where somebody, it just takes one, somebody would have reasonable doubt?

norfolk southern didn't show up because they are scared. y'all are scared and you need answers about your health your homes your pets. >> sure. yeah. i mean, yeah, that's pretty funny they're scared. we have got communities not just the town of east palestine, surrounding towns over the state line into pennsylvania. i think there's a lot more people scared, so, as far as pets goes, you just got to be careful, you are hearing something new every hour another pet is getting sick. you know, lethargic, throwing up. we had a horse come down, you know, but he is doing okay. and, you know, as far as -- you know, thank god for your viewers from john roberts and sandra smith show yesterday, there was some awesome people up around erie, p&a. mobile i can't farms winery and

much. let's check in with janice dean outside. beautiful day, janice. >> janice: it is a beautiful day. feels like springtime. take a look at the temperatures that doesn't feel like springtime across the midwest. potential for not only snow behind the systems but severe storms. earlier tornado warn storm for parts of tennessee. still a tornado watch in effect 12:00 p.m. local time arkansas up towards kentucky. there is the severe storm threat today through this evening from the gulf coast all the way up towards the great lakes, including ohio. and parts of new york. upstate new york. tornado threat today. strong tornadoes will be possible. and then the warmth across the east will continue, not only today but friday into saturday, look at the eastern warmth, it says phase. fade for a day and then back to above average temperatures as we get into next week. so we'll take it. we are right around average as we get into saturday and then those temperatures bump up again, and, in florida, brian kilmeade, temperatures in the 80's for south florida. i'm sure they are enjoying that.
