"jesse watters primetime" starts right now with jesse. hey, jesse. >> jesse: hey, gillian, have a nice weekend. >> gillian: say hi to your mom. ♪ ♪ >> jesse: so i get the "new york times" delivered to my house every morning. i also get the "new york post" and the journal. but the first thing i do? crack open the post, best paper in america. then i open the journal. when i get around to it, i look at the times. you have to see what the enemy is up to. but they also have some good reporting out there. en and on the front page today i see the headline. e.p.a.'s pledge for ohio town is met by doubt. i said to myself, wow, it's about time the "times" covered

the story. i didn't need the "times" to tell me that the people of palestine doubted the e.p.a. we have been doing this story all week. we have been talking to the people there all week. we sent a producer out there this week. so the "times" reporting guys with "primetime's" reporting. these people don't trust the government because the government hasn't given them a reason to trust them. and we can go down the list. why? the story ends on page a-17 and then next to it was a second story on the toxic train wreck. this story headline chernobyl 2.0? feverish speculation after derailment, fire and toxic smoke. stuart thompson of the "times" is saying that right wing commentators are speculating that the toxic train wreck could be really catastrophic and people shouldn't trust what the government tells them. yeah, guilty as charged. the "new york times" then mentions this show, quote: you

better punch in at 9:00 a.m., ohio, even if it means inhaling mustard gas on the way in said a sarcastic jesse watters over a title reading "ohio town looks like chernobyl" the "new york times" who feverishly speculated that gas stoves were ripping your kids' lungs out and plastic straws and suvs were going to end the world in 10 years are now worried that americans like me are speculating that dumping 500 tons of toxic chemicals on a small town could cause cancer. how dare i worry about my fellow americans. how dare i feverishly speculate that a town's drinks water has been poisoned by a rich train tycoon. not speculation to say that toxic chemicals are bad for you. that's why they are toxic. stuart. thank you it's coincidence people are suffering side

effects when you get toxins filled into your neighborhood. i hope someone is going to feverishly speculate it would be stupid not to. there was feverish speculation going on during the covid pandemic. you weren't allowed to go to work for a year and a half or see our grandparents or send our kids to school in the next line of the piece the "new york times" says, quote: the e.p.a. acknowledges the situation in east palestine is disastrous in many ways. so the e.p.a. says it's disastrous, and "jesse watters primetime" says it's catastrophic you really got me there, stuart. the "new york times" is angry that some, quote, nonscientists are speculating that the airborne direc concentration ofl chloride dangerously high rebuffing the e.p.a.'s assessment that the air was safe. so you are a nonscientist right winger if you don't think east palestine is safe to live in even though if you go to the

derailment site it still looks like this. >> you ask the workers around here which are about maybe seven different groups of them and they say i don't know where the trains are then you go across the street and you find what looks like a graveyard of all of these train cars just piled up, waiting to be picked apart and taken out of the area. this is just down the street from a residential area. multiple cars. train cars that are completely destroyed. >> jesse: so only scientists are allowed to have opinions about trusting the government. the "new york times" is saying only the educated trust the government. if you don't have a ph.d. in environmental science and your children are breaking out in hives and you are coughing and the air smells funny you are just a right winger feverishly speculating that it might have something to do with the toxic train wreck in your backyard even though the "new york times" says the e.p.a. warning that

airborne contaminants can settle on surfaces, seep into wells and migrate through cracks into basements and homes. is stuart thompson the dumbest reporter at the "times"? he just reported that the e.p.a. said wells can be contaminated and toxickens can seep into people's home and i can't speculate because i'm not a scientist? if i say don't drink the water i'm a conspiracy theorist even though the water looks like this? >> i don't know if you can see this on the camera. see that chemical pop out of the creek this is disgusting. >> jesse: jess don't worry little stuart says chemicals can only kill fish not humans. wait a second, does stuart have a science degree or just taking the word of the government at face value? what if little stewy from the times was on well water in

allowed to draw their own conclusions. you are not allowed to have an opinion. you are just supposed to agree with experts. well, where are the experts? they're not anywhere near east palestine. >> only way i'm going to feel good about anything that's going on here is when they come down off of their pedestals, come to east palestine, drink the water, bring their kids, make baby formula and take their kids, play basketball and right where i'm at right here i'm at ground zero practically right now. i don't feel safe. i haven't seen any ground testing as far as my kids can go play basketball outside. my kids could ride their bicycles, play in puddles, i haven't seen any of it. i want to see that, until i see that, i don't believe any of it. >> jesse: but the people of east palestine aren't scientists so they are not supposed to question what the government tells them, right? this country was fountained on

not trusting the government. now they want the people of east palestine to take a shower shut up. take their word. they lied to us about the water before. the messiah himself, barack obama lied about flint, michigan's drinking water. >> can i get some water? people were dejected. why would you do that? >> jesse: did you know the same government is fighting off hundreds of lawsuits from americans with cancer who drank the water at camp lejeune? do you know what was in the water at camp lejeune? that gave everybody cancer? vinyl chloride. the same chemical, 500 tons of it in fact, that was dumped on east palestine. does the "new york times" even know about that? well, they should. they reported on it. does stuart even read his own paper? does stuart just take whatever the government tells him at face value and just types it? because guess where the government gets their information from? the rail company that spilled the chemical. they hired a ringer contractor to test the air and the water in palestine. the e.p.a. doesn't do any testing. the rail company does the testing. the e.p.a. says, yeah, we tested it. even though they didn't the "new york times" says everything's

fine. now, since when does the "new york times" take the word of a sloppy $55 billion rail company whose rickety train just poisoned a town. last year norfolk southern had over 650 accidents while carrying hazardous material and they have had a history of polluting creeks in ohio and even covered up the contaminated soil you want to trust the guys stiffing them when they are trying to waive waivers in their faces and try to hand them thousand dollar checks? it's chump change. a $55 billion company ceo alan shaw last year made 8 million. lives in a real nice home. they don't think east palestine deserves better? this is sleazy this are not going to get away with it. we are not going to take their word for anything because standing up for the little guy is never a bad thing despite what the "new york times" says.

so we are going to keep fighting. let's turn it over to amy detective myer and scott schneider they both live on ground zero and part of a lawsuit against norfolk southern alongside attorney michael owe shae. scott, your thoughts on just this last week? >> this last week has been chaos against east palestine. our town was a war zone for five days and then we were told you're good to go home and everybody started to return home and feels like a similar incident to 9/11 where people were told to go into places, resume work and clear rubble. it wasn't okay for those people. we are left with the same questions here. how do we know? >> jesse: amy, they are saying we are not allowed to speculate, you know, you just got to trust the experts here. did you read that "times" piece? >> i did read it. i would encourage people to come

here and see what we are living. in it's disastrous. >> jesse: how close are you to where the train right now. >> well, this is ground zero right behind, this is where i live. >> jesse: oh my gosh. they are actually still doing work behind you? is that something have you noticed any differences? >> oh, yes. we can smell it. we can taste it. it's in our house. it's horrible. >> we get smells all the time. they will just pop up and then sometimes they are really toxic smelling, chemical-smelling sometimes it's a burn smell. jess. >> yes. >> jesse: oh my god. i'm so sorry. michael, we heard we heard stories about people waiving pieces of paper before they go into to test these homes. where do we stand with this

silly rail company and do you think they are going to do the right thing. >> jesse, thank you first and foremost to talking to our clients and getting real boots on the ground and understanding what these poor folks are going through. i mean, it's terrible. i was there on wednesday i was there the wednesday before that you are right when using the analogy at sherri mobile noble and ghost town flock blocking traffic. beautiful community. it was striking to see what this train accident has done. now, to answer your other question do you expect norfolk southern to do the right thing right away? no. if they would and always did, there wouldn't be people like me, would they? so we are work real hard.

kamala is feeling the heat. a lot of pressure. so, what better way to clear decompress than a girl's trip. that's what kamala decided to do. right n she and her gal pal nany are living it up in europe. spending time in munich and meeting up with close friends, maybe a little too close. doug better watch out. looks like kamala is trying to get some revenge. but here's the thing. she can kiss all the french guys she wants. eat all the soft pretzels in munich, kamala can't escape the noise in d.c. she did an interview with nbc wc today and andrea mitchell was waiting. >> why do you think so the president has such low favorability rating and you have even less why do you think that is. >> i will tell you what i see out on the road i see people thanking the president. >> it's not -- dozens of democratic leaders are saying that they not only don't think that he is the strongest

candidate but they don't think that you are the right person to be on the ticket. why do you think that? >> i think that it is very important to focus on the needs of the american people and not political chatter out of washington, d.c. >> jesse: you hear that? kamala doesn't care if democrats don't like her. she is laser-focused on the american people. >> the american people want leaders who will see what's going on in their lives and create solutions not just offer solutions but create solutions and in joe biden we have. a president who is probably one of the boldest and strongest american presidents we have had in his response to the needs of the american people. >> jesse: well, if what she said was true then kamala would be in east palestine, ohio right now helping americans not in europe.

sending us straight to voice mail? stephen miller is the former senior adviser to the president and america first legal founder. are you kind of wish you were on that girl's trip with nancy and kamala to europe, don't you, steven? >> who wouldn't be. i mean, just to watch her fight a courageous but losing war against the english language to be there for that kind of amazing. you have to worry for the world. let's put our own needs aside for a second here. the last time kamala harris went to europe. we had a massive war break out only days later. and so i think all of civilization is on edge right now figuring out what global calamity will now unfold with kamala going all across europe. i also have to add that i wonder how many of the foreign leaders she is speaking with are also follow-up questions about her brilliant sill questions on school buses. because before you meet a foreign leader you typically are prepped what is this person's passions what are they interested in what should we bring up most of her bilateral

meetings dealt cutting edge science governing american school buses which we know has been her greatest passion as vice president. >> i don't know if you saw this and this is just breaking we haven't confirmed it yet. president trump may be going to east palestine ohio as early as next week. that would be a pretty significant visit. especially if he went before the current president of the united states. how do you see that playing out? >> absolutely. i mean, president trump, as you know, jesse, is all about focusing on the forgotten people of this country. and who is more forgotten right now than the people of east palestine, who, as you talked about today, had a massive detonation of thousand of pounds of toxic chems and the government saying no way, no bailout. no help. if you want money from us, go to wall street and then we will give you all the money you want. line of credit you want or go ukraine all the money you want or everything you need or cross the border illegally but if you

are just an american citizen who didn't vote for joe biden, screw off, no help for you. >> well said stephen miller have. a nice weekend. try to behave yourself. >> you too. >> jesse: senator john fetterman is still in the hospital. this time it's not his heart. the senator is depressed. he checked himself in and will be there for weeks, maybe longer. >> we are looking at not days but also not months so most likely weeks that senator fettwillbe inpatient care. >> jesse: fetterman has struggled with depression his whole life. this was never disclosed during the campaign. we just found out about that yesterday. doctors say fetterman's depression could have gotten worse after the stroke. he has trouble communicating with his staff. they say he can't tell if it's because of his stroke orup bring social anxiety and depression. so now we have a senator with a bad heart, clinical depression and severe social anxiety.

fetterman says when people talk to him it sounds like the teacher from the peanuts cartoon and this is the second time in the hospital this month last month admitted after feeling woozy. the people who voted for fetterman never knew how sick he was. after he almost died from a stroke. if you questioned his health you were torn to pieces by the press. maybe if democrats had done the right thing and let fetterman get better instead of pushing him to the limit to get their senate majority, we wouldn't all be in this situation. and now he has been hospitalized twice since taking office. the guy was used by cruel power hungry people, schumer pushed the man, barack obama biden pushed this man too far and now fetterman's dangerously depressed and unable to fulfill his duties. leaving the voters of pennsylvania without representation if things don't

because those are the same women who can't define what a woman is. and the other irony of this, jesse, is that don lemon hasn't done anything that these feminists who want him fired because there is people in and out of cnn who want him fired. he hasn't said anything different than them. he said basically you're power and your desirability as a woman diminishes as your beauty wanes, right? women say that about your power and desirability will wane by becoming a mother. i think they are both wrong. i think you are smarter, stronger, more compassionate, more patient, nor in tune with the meaning of life and more in tune with the purpose of woman hood by becoming older and by becoming a mother. and so they are both wrong and have a lot to learn in my opinion, jesse. >> jesse: okay. rachel be and rachel has been staring at don lemon's naked body basically this entire interview. he does look like he is in his
