tv   The Five  FOX News  February 18, 2023 2:00am-3:00am PST

2:00 am
i just saw someone. i'm going to fix this promise accused all new tuesday on fox and watch any time on hulu, thanks to shannon lee zeldin taking the down hat tip in our studio on tuesday. hello, everyone. i'm judge jeanine pirro, along with jessica tarloff. jesse watters, shannon bream and tom shillue. it's five o'clock in new york city and this is the five toxic chemical spills are no big deal for america's transportation secretary. health concerns are growing in ohio despite assurances that everything is safe to eat. but a judge giving his first
2:01 am
media interview on the disaster and downplayed what happened. >> rail city telling that that has evolved a lot over the years. but there's clearly more that needs to be done because while this horrible situation has gotten particularly high amount of attention, there are roughly one thousand cases a year of a train derailing. but a judge also said that he hopes to get to know some of the folks who were impacted by this, but claims the reason he hasn't visited is that he wants to respect the investigation. e palestine mayor trent conaway, thanks for staying away is a good idea. was just a dog and pony show. they've they've sort of let us hang hang out to dry here. as far as mayor pete is , people like to call him. i would rather he just stay away. he is just going to cause a circus. and unless he's going to bring
2:02 am
a shovel and shovel some dirt and get rid of this contaminated soil, that's that's the only reason he would need to come to this town . we have a town of forty one hundred people that are scared, want answers. and , you know, as far as the federal government is concerned, you know, i don't have much faith that they were late to the dance, as i like to say. and , you know, our people deserve better. >> ohio's governor and the biden epa continue to say that the town's drinking water shows no sign of containment and they want residents to trust them. >> if people want to go different places and want more assurances at one time to pass a little bit, they have a right to do that. but for those who can't, i am asking that they trust the government and that's hard . we know that there is a lack of trust, which is why the state and the federal government have pledged to be very transparent. >> but locals are having a hard time trusting the government when they can still smell toxins in the air and they can see a chemical rainbow in
2:03 am
the creeks. it is a really scary situation and we are very concerned as a community. >> we don't know what to believe at this point. >> we have so many people telling us so many different things. the amount of chemicals, cancer causing chemicals that were released and what we're left to deal with . >> we need a little bit of guidance here. my throat's been burning. i've had a horrible cough, sneezing, just congestion. my eyes have burned. it's it's scary. >> okay, shannon, i'm going to start with you. you know, since this happened on february the 3rd, fema was nowhere to be found. the federal government was nowhere to be found. and in fact, the federal government is now telling governor dewine that they're not eligible for fema assistance. and yet this epa administrator, michael reagan, i think his name is , is saying, oh, everything's safe , trust the government. could he have thought of a dumber thing to say? because clearly these people
2:04 am
feel that they've been forgotten. they actually have hundreds in this town of less than five thousand people who show up for a meeting. >> buta jetson's is nowhere to be found, and neither is norfolk southern. and fema is not there. what's going on there? i think that when you tell people to trust the government, the instinct is no thank you. are all of the recent polling shows that trust an institution is just completely eroding. pull up. you had one in recent months that said only 20 percent of americans say they trust the government to do the right thing most of the time. so these people are very distrustful and they should be because this is we're two weeks into this now and a lot of people have never heard of it or they've only heard it until the last day or two. there's plenty of blame to go around here, but when you have secretary but a judge saying things like, oh, there are a thousand derailments or more every year, well, you could say to people that there are thousands of crimes a year, but when it hits you and your family in your neighborhood, that's real world. and these people, most them cannot just go stay in a hotel or go to their second home. they don't have one . they're surviving moment to moment.
2:05 am
and i'm sure they would love for a lot of people to show up and say, this is how we are going to step in and help you. >> you know, jesse , people judge saying there are there are many trail derailment derailments a year ignores the fact that there were toxic chemicals, vinyl chloride that's mixed with wheat, seminole and frozen vegetables. nobody's talking about the fact that there is food on board with hazardous waste and this guy, buttigieg, is so clueless. he's like, oh, this just a derailment. no, it's not. >> that's why he didn't get a lot of votes in the primary. i remember black voters never even gave the guy a look. one of the main reasons, because the guy has got no heart, he's got no passions. he has no empathy. he's a technocrat. he's it mckinsey guy. that just sees numbers. he doesn't see people. what you want to do is you want to go there and you want to embrace the town, literally embrace them with your arms. but he can't be bothered to do that. he says he wants to respect the investigation by not going . this would be like if jesse jr. just spilled everything all
2:06 am
over the floor and my wife says ,jesse , can you come help clean it up and say, sorry, i'm going to stay over here and expect the cleanup? that doesn't make any sense because it jesse , you know, and i was treated like i'm not even to make a second joke. you action. you have to be there. and life is about showing up. also, the new york times is coming out and blasting conservative commentators for saying that they're speculating too much and that they're showing distrust of the government. oh, wait a second. the new york times speculating that we're all going to die in ten years. if we stop, we don't stop using plastic straws. sorry. i'm speculating that there was a toxic train wreck that might give everybody cancer and i'm sorry that i don't trust the government. >> the governments lied to you. barack obama, the messiah, said that drinking water in flint, michigan, is clean and so dense episode it is epa. >> so now all of a sudden you
2:07 am
say it again. sorry, trust but verify in the same epa from flint, michigan, and also from 9/11. and jessica, you can speak to this better than anyone given the loss that you've suffered. you know, we now have senator jd vance saying that when he puts a stick in the in the in a creek, it whips up a chemical rainbo. and there are dead fish. there are no birds flying in the sky. and then you've got to wine and the epa and everyone criticizing, saying the water is safe. no, it's not. yeah, it's evident quite clearly not safe . and you'd be out of your mind, frankly, or with very little options if you're going to be drinking or drinking water. and i know that they're delivering a lot of bottled water. but we talked about this yesterday. i think you need to get everyone out of there until you can be completely sure there's no problem where your creeks don't have oil spills and you're not getting iridescent, showing their governor, dwayne, was
2:08 am
with fox and friends this morning and brian and ainsley really held his feet to the fire . they did a brian got really angry. and it's been two weeks. right. so the story has really only of, say, the last two or three days taken hold of a national audience was obviously an incredibly big deal in ohio. we weren't paying enough attention to it. >> and people are frightened. i saw a grandfather who takes care of his three grand daughters who was interviewed last night. the kids were covered in rashes until a couple of days ago, showed all of the pictures of it. that's irrefutable evidence that something is not right. is it going to cause cancer? i have absolutely no idea. but you know that you don't want to be there. and to people, to judge's point, about the thousand arraignments, i do think it is important to talk about this as a safety problem. it became a big issue in 2014. there was a crash similar to this in new jersey where there were toxic chemicals on board and the obama administration put forward a new rule that they want to get passed for regulating trains to upgrade the brake systems if it had petroleum
2:09 am
on it, as well as toxic chemicals that got watered down to remove the toxic chemicals. part of it, which i think is the most important component. and then norfolk, southern and other railroad industry honchos and you talked about this yesterday, jesse , lobbied governments and in 2017 during the trump administration were able to pull back a rule that would have upgraded to civil war era brake systems, civil war era. >> well, that was congress that actually said that during the trump years, though, that's relevant. everyone. trump is perfect. the point is the brake systems need to be upgraded. we know that this is a problem. it has been a problem for some time and this will continue to happen. i think that's what people to judge was talking about. all right, tom , i got to wrap up. >> i got an idea. how about from now on , every train said one car filled with toxic masculinity. >> then when there's a spill, democrats will pay attention right. what about the irony of this this town ? first of all, i love this town .
2:10 am
they have a very duck dynasty vibe. i want to hang there when everything's all cleaned up. >> i want to hang with these people, shoot some guns, things like that. but the these are the people these blue collar people were told they couldn't leave their house because of a virus. they had to mask their children because of a virus. now they're saying, hey, drink the shiny water. everything's okay. i mean, they have flipped completely. what happened to an abundance of caution? they're telling everyone, you know, everything's fine when it's obviously not fine. >> it's almost it's unbelievable. the the flipping of risk assessment, right? >> yeah. well, we'll see what happens. but i really want to know who's who's ordering and who's doing the testing. as you spoke about yesterday, anyway, coming up, kamala just got asked point blank about democrats wanting to get rid of her. so we got twenty dollars in my pocket. i'm looking for a promo. this just so you know about

2:16 am
kamala was asked point blank whether she's a good fit for 2020 four. >> they don't think that you are the right person to be on the ticket. i think that it is very important to focus on the needs of the american people and not political chatter out of washington, d.c.. >> do you still want to be president someday? joe biden intense has said he intends to run for reelection as president and i intend to run with him as vice president of the united states . >> so democrats don't like her and neither does the american public. >> if her latest approval numbers are any indication. but kamila seems to be in denial about all of that. >> why do you think the president has such low popularity, favorable ratings and you have even less favorable ratings? what do you think that i see people thinking the president it's not triangulating our administration. so kamala thinks she might be getting some favorable interview with nbc and she kind of got punched in the face
2:17 am
right there. >> how do you think she handled it? you know what? i'm going to shock you. she handled that well. she was on message. she was on message. she was clear . she even she was okay. with all this heckling. and , you know, it's not easy to get 61% of the american public to agree that you're not doing well. at your job. okay, only thirty nine percent thinks that she is . >> and the truth is , for a woman who lived in politics and lived on government salary for decades, to not be able to articulate and speak the way she just did there. i mean, it's about time she's got the job of a lifetime. the vice president , the united states . and by the way, it took 18 staffers to get her to this point. and one of the ones who's most impressive, simmons sanders. i think she could straighten anybody out. she can even straighten me out. okay, so maybe not. but anyway, but for two years, we watch word salads come out of her mouth. and she did she did a good job
2:18 am
there. and , you know, for two years, even football players get media training and they've done better, better than her. but i think in the end that if she's serious about this job, you know, it may this may benefit her. but the dems fear joe biden and they fear her even more than biden. >> so we'll see. well, you did bring up a word salad, so i would be remiss if i just didn't play this song. >> we will maintain the perspective that we have in terms of what should be the relationship between china and the united states. that is not going to change. but surely and certainly that balloon was not helpful, which is why we shot it down. >> oh, okay. jessica, make sense that for us , please. china did a bad thing. we don't need to have a relationship with china, did it not? helpful thing. translation as china did a really bad thing. okay, nothing is going to change in terms of fact that we know that we have to work
2:19 am
with china, but we haven't forgotten the fact that they did a bad thing. and i'd like to speak to some people. she's at the munich security conference and there are some people there that she's going to have a word or two with about it. and compared to previous remember the clip with the passage of time, but this it is a great interview. you're completely right. and andrea mitchell did not pull any punches with her, went straight out her, said, what's going on with the popularity? what's going on with the agenda ? and she's completely right to , first of all, stand in line. she's second right saying i support joe biden, but we talked about this a couple of weeks ago and i said, oh, his dismal polling numbers, they were dismal at the midterms and the democrats performed better than anybody expected. you paid a lot of money to me. and geraldo kind of money for me. >> that is so obnoxious. no, just to say i'm embarrassed ,i thought i saw a red wave. i didn't see you just say that. told me i thought it was going to be wavier. so mitchell kind of went right
2:20 am
. or do you think as these two ladies, they say if she improves? well, listen, i will give andrea a lot of credit for doing this interview, but she's in the washington bubble where i live and operate and work. and these the kind of stories this is politico. it said this week, high level democrats rallying to president biden's reelection, not because they think it's in the best interest of the country to have an eighty two year old start a second term. but because they fear the potential alternative, the nomination, emmylou harris and election of donald trump, there are stories all over the place in washington. these don't just happen. there have been leaks after plants, after plants of people who have been going after kamala harris from the inside of the democrat party. so they have created this situation and now they're saying we really want biden because we don't think kamala harris can be trump and they think that anyone can beat president trump. so they've created this situation. >> they're going to have to deal with it. and the bar is so low with kamala. i mean, we're all now saying, oh, she did a good job because she could speak strong a sentence or two together. yes. well, it's lowered expectations ,which is why while she has
2:21 am
to do i mean, if she were to say joe biden did step aside, if she were to run, she would be judged on her past performance. >> and all she has to do is not burst into laughing every five seconds. >> and everyone's going to think she's great. but i thought that interview was creepy, just really well, creepy in that it was that nice tone. >> she was like, nobody likes you. why is that? >> so you had this kind of gentle quality, but she was giving her all these tough questions. >> but kamelot. yeah, she's terrible. >> joe biden terrible, but it doesn't really matter because with democrats, as i remember, mitt romney famously said that 47% of the country going to vote for you no matter what, that's how you come in. fetterman you remember he opened the debate saying, good night, everybody. and he still won. so obviously, it doesn't matter if you are a candidate that is impaired. >> joe biden faderman kamala, you know, we should just start
2:22 am
running impaired people because the bar is so low and then everybody feels sorry for you and you got your fancy 70%. that was the argument about time is what your performance is that we have lowered the bar that when you strung together a few sentences it was some huge victory. john fetterman had had a catastrophic stroke, by the way, when that happened. and he just had to check into the hospital with clinical depression and i don't think we should be using him as any conversation. >> i feel bad for the city. the citizens of pennsylvania. >> that's it. that's you always think of the voters. we're not here for the politicians. catastrophic. >> everybody step aside. >> all right. thank you. thank you. thank you know. thank you. no, thank you. coming up, this dirtbag messed with the wrong woman. >> a fitness model fights off a would be . >> let me to feed is one hundred and one years old.

2:24 am
three seconds. checking your credit score or bank statements may not be enough to alert you. that's because identity threats appear in more places than you realize, making it dangerously easy to become a victim. someone got my social security number made a driver's license and try to buy a car in my name. that was really devastating. frightened because i had no control. identity thieves can use your information to open loans, transfer home titles, even commit crimes. someone use my information to open up bank accounts in my name. it was terrifying not knowing what was out there and what had been opened. but protecting your identity can be easy with lifelock, a leader in identity theft protection. lifelock monitors for threats to your identity, especially ones you may miss by simply checking your accounts or credit. there's an issue lifelock will alert. there was a big yes button and there was a big no. but so i clicked and that's not me and my took it from there. and if you're a victim, you're dedicated. u.s. based restoration

2:26 am
chapter in the hunter biden story. new revelations coming. most egregious conduct is denying the biden name to his biological daughter. >> this is one of the biggest scandals in political history. there were classified documents apparently stored in the garage that would put them within the wingspan, provided the fbi tried to slow roll this investigation. they tried to keep it from coming out before the twenty twenty election where has the department of justice been with respect to 100% criminal activity? it's rare to see a story that was shut down so quickly that ended up being true. if upwards of 17% of biden voters had known about the hunter biden laptop, joe biden would not be president today. we are concerned that joe biden's already made decisions that were to cover hunter's wrongdoing. >> sometimes you have to watch something break before you can fix it. buddy.
2:27 am
i'm a major. i will not make some amendments ,but i never give up. >> that is the powerful message a florida woman sharing after fighting off a would be who attacked her inside of four apartment complex gym. shocking surveillance video shows a moment when twenty four year old initially omma was confronted by a man. she wasted zero time pushing him away, repeatedly punching him. but he kept chasing her around the facility and was able to grab her and pin her to the floor. she never stopped fighting back . almatov eventually escaped by running outside to a nearby apartment. that suspect is now behind bars, by the way, after trying this on somebody else and olma is now hoping her story will encourage other women who've dealt with similar incidents to speak out. >> i was really fearful at all in my head. it was just i got to fight him. i got to do something, you know, and he was equal to me. he wasn't bigger than me. he was anything more than my size. and i kind of do that to my advantage. in my own head. and i fought him.
2:28 am
the mom always told me, don't let anybody ever approach you or touch you if you don't know them. and as soon as he approached me, i knew i had to push him off or do something. >> yeah, i love what a tough cookie she is . and she said she wasn't afraid. she just started fighting. but i mean, jessica, this gets to the thing about trusting your gut because nobody wants to make a mistake. she said she'd seen this guy before at the apartment gym, and so she let him in. it's a really tough one . it definitely makes me think that i have to take self-defense classes. and i know that so important cpr training, like all the things to be prepared for, whatever comes your way, just incredibly impressive. that she held it together to be able to do this and scary for women that these are things that happen just whatever you're doing, anything could be an attack. this guy had done it before and did it again right before he got arrested. that's just terrible. but props to her. >> i know she's a bodybuilder, so i love that she was like he is equal to me. i can take him. yeah. i would not have been how i react to jesse. i have seen you in hotel gyms when we've been on the road that were the only two in
2:29 am
there. >> there was no attack. i just keep it clear . i was worried you're going to come for me. i want to force you off. >> do i feel like we're an equal match? i don't know. but i have seen you in the hotel gym. >> you know how i know? i mean, is it's terrifying. it is true. and i have so much respect for this woman. god bless her. and she tried to call 911 at one point look like and she couldn't get the numbers down. and then she looked like she tried to run into another part of the gym where there wasn't an exit, which was definitely worrisome. but she did the right thing by trying to keep the distance and then it looks like she was just trying to maybe throw some eye gouges in there and rattle them. but she has to be very strong and very powerful and makes me think this might be the dumbest would be of all time to target a woman at a gym, a fit model who actually is trying to be strong in her free time. you not the smartest cookie. >> how much do you make of this? yeah, i mean, it's it's amazing watching this video. i just want her to destroy him . it's it's it's great to watch. she's very inspiring. when i was first in new york ,
2:30 am
i went to the graduation of a group called model mugging, and i think they still have it. model mugging nyc. the model is a guy who dresses up in padded a padded outfit with a helmet and he attacks these women. they run through scenarios and then the women beat the living out of the gutfeld. >> today, volunteers for models, or is he the guy? he's definitely not in the mob. >> yeah, but it was great to watch. and i mean, the great thing about a class like that, i mean, they teach them how to fight dirty. you. it's like a poke in the eye, kick them in the groin. they show them everything. >> and the other thing they do is they teach them to keep their cool a lot. what happens when women are attacked is they freeze and they always describe that they freeze. their breath is taken away and they can't they can't scream. so they are ready for it. they're ready to scream. they scream no. and then they fight dirty and then they run. and it's like the minute you get free, you run. it's an amazing class. and i mean, i just give a shout out to the people who do that model mugging. i would have my daughters take
2:31 am
the class. >> i think it's great. well, and i feel like you would come out on top if this if this happens, if it gets discrepancy, i'm going to go with the judge. i got to ask you, though, about new york here, because alvin bragg, d.a. here, is now under fire . the crime situation here in new york is not great. and there was this assault on a registered nurse so violently attacked by a deranged patient that this nurse said he feared he might actually be blinded. >> and then he apparently brags office is giving a slap on the wrist misdemeanor charge to this. >> yeah, the misdemeanor charge is an appropriate given the fact that the new york state penal law makes it clear that if you assault certain people like a police officer or a nurse, in a in a facility, i mean, that is automatically up to a felony . it is . that is the charge. but alvin bragg is not someone who was interested in victims. he's not worried about whether or not this nurse who was attacked violently in hospital is going to do well. he's only concerned about the criminal. but i want to talk about . because, i mean, i spent 30 years as a prosecutor.
2:32 am
>> you dealt with four year old girls who've been, and i've dealt with seventy eight year old women who've been. every is different. and we can just sit here and say, isn't it great? she was strong and she was tough. but not all women are. and whether they're immobilized by fear or the circum stance is the most important thing that a woman needs to understand is that she has to she has to protect herself in the environment. so as i tell young women, as i did for many years, you go in an elevator, a guy gets in the elevator. if your gut tells you something, get the out of the elevator and the same with, you know, this woman was kind enough to open the door for him. he didn't get in on his site, but she had seen him in the gym. before. so she opened the door. we don't need to be that person. anymore. there is too much danger. women need to understand it's not how good they look. it's that young they are. they'll be because is about
2:33 am
power and control. it has very little to do with . and in the end, you know, i worry that that women think, oh, my god, unless i really try to take them on , you know, i'm not going to they're not going to believe me. as long as a woman says no and as long as she tries to fight back , whether it's just yelling no screaming , that really is enough under the law. so, i mean, this woman is fantastic. she's able to take care of herself. god bless her. but not all women are. and women who have been. and if they had silently been, where there's no camera, they don't have the strength. they still have to report these crimes. and that's, i think, the most important message out of this. >> yeah. and prosecutors have to prosecute them. >> absolutely. all right. we tried to warn america that it might actually be too late. a.i. programs have gone rogue. raise them up. you got them all. you got to show me some notes. don't ever let them tell you
2:34 am
