details. >> brooke: gunned down wednesday afternoon by a suspect wanted in an earlier deadly shooting at the scene. the slain journalist dillon lyons had been with the station for just under a year. two others were hurt including a photographer and the mother of that girl. yesterday authorities found a 20-year-old girl shot dead. two news reporters were at the scene reporting on the crime, authorities believe the same suspect opened fire on them around 4:05 p.m. the suspect then walk into a nearby resident, killing a little girl and injuring her mother. >> news 13 reporter and photographer were on the scene to cover the homicide from this morning. on harrington street, a woman

undo the things they were learning. >> ashley: what are you talking about, what things were they being taught you didn't like that you took matters into your own hands and started home schooling? >> so, i'm in a rural school district, i wouldn't say it reached us yet, but washington state tends to be more liberal and i could see it coming and i didn't want my children to have to be in a situation where they have uncomfortable questions that they come home with about race or sex. >> ashley: you were just being proactive about it, which i think a lot of inparents are dog now. what will happen to schools in washington state that will potentially close or be consolidated, do you? >> i don't know. i can worry about them a little bit, i hope that parents step up

and do the best that they can for their children's education. >> ashley: for someone who is washing, i'm sure there aplenty of parents worried about this, especially with covid, a lot was brought to light when they were doing online learning. for somebody watching this and thinking i would like to pull my child out of school, i think home schooling is going to be tough. is it tough on you? >> i enjoy it. i stay at home with my kids when they were little, so having them home with me is not a huge difference. but i would tell parents to try it. because if you don't try to do public school at home and make it your own, you change the lives of your children. >> ashley: seattle enrollment has been on a steady decline and projections are supposed to keep

declining, do you think it will decline all over the country? do you think this is just in washington? i am sure you have spoken to other parents, what are they saying? >> i hope it keeps happening. other parents, i think they are curious and a lot of them think they cannot do it, they think they are not well educated enough to do so. they think it will be hard to respond that much time at home. i think when we involve our children in our lives, they can come along and learn more from us about life. >> ashley: yeah, the seattle public school district is considering consolidating schools saying it has been discussed as strategy for the 2024 and 2025 school year and would require the board

approval. do you think the board will approve something like this? they are already in money trouble. when you have upward of 20,000 kids, when you have money choices, you have no choice, right? >> it comes down to dollars un una unfortunately. >> ashley: your final thoughts on home schooling or what is happening with children in the schools systems? >> i think that as long as parents understand their children are their primary concern, they do the best they can. if they can home school them, i encourage them to. if they are not able to, go to your school board meetings, go see what is being taught in schools and advocate for children. >> ashley: we saw what happened in virginia with the governor when all the parents started showing up to meetings, it was

>> yes. evidence continues to mount that chinese control tiktok. continues to put america last. they continue to be hostile to american interest. this is something congress should take action on immediately. what more evidence do we need in addition to the fact that tiktok has lied to congress. that tiktok continues to send our data to bytedance which is owned by the chinese communist party. surely to goodness the democrats will go along with the republicans and try to ban tiktok. i applaud the states that have stepped up. the republican states stepped up and banned government devices. i'm calling on congress to try to take action on tiktok. i don't know how much more evidence we need to see that ticktock is in fact hostile to american interest. i hope this is something that congress will take up when we return next week.
