utopia was possible or ignore the reality because, you know, climate? >> yes, there is not a lot of reality in many of these policies, so we rely in our grid for col coal, natural gas, bulk electricity does not come from renewables. if we had more renewables, there are times the wind doesn't blow or the sun doesn't shine. renewables will go down to almost zero at time because of weather conditions and what is there to keep the lights on? natural gas and coal. when we retire power plants too early and try to back it up or try to replace it with wind and solar, that is not necessarily good for grid stability.
2:27 am
>> todd: where will the energy come from and the push for electric cars and stuff like that? >> i contentious think there is realistic thought going into the policies. we see situation where oil, natural gas, coal are considered bad and so we're trying to -- there are those trying to move us away from fossil fuel, but in reality, that means we don't have as much energy and this push for electricity only is in the long run or in the short run, not going to keep the lights on, not going to heat homes in the winter. natural gas is the best way to heat homes, it is climate change number -- enemy number one. when we have this push to go all electric, what we're doing is putting people at risk during the winter for being cold.
2:28 am
>> todd: look at europe, people died there because they did not have energy to heat homes and basically keep things going. you don't want that here, seems like we are heading that way. this study focused on northeast and midwest, is this grid operator a problem in the west, in the south? a similar problem out there? >> oh, i think so, for one particular area, one grid operator, but the same could be happening all over the country. climate policies are not based on reality. we have situations in california where they don't have enough power at certain times and they back it up with diesel generation or oil, which is not the best way to generate electricity. push comes to shove and lights have to be kept on, we have to run medical devices and icu.
2:29 am
when we have policies that are specifically meant to shut down the reliable energy that we all rely on, then we are in a situation where we have blackouts and brownouts in the not too distant future. >> todd: renewables can be a sup element, not the only ongz. thank you. jurors in the alex murdaugh set to visit the murder site where the bodies were found. >> ashley: the defense trying to show reasonable doubt with head-turning new testimony, we will bring you the major developments next. >> a lot of talk about that prior to his testimony about two shooters because there are two different guns, evidence that thinked put reasonable doubt in the juror's minds.
