argues it will give the panel a better sense of just how sprawling the 1700-acre estate is. >> lawrence: todd piro is live in studio with the details. >> todd: good morning to all three of you, the jury will tour the south carolina murder scene ahead of closing arguments. panel made up of four men and 8 women will visit the hunting estate where maggie and paul were shot and killed in june of 2021. throughout the trial, prosecutors repeatedly pointed to cell phone video taken by paul near the dog kennels minutes before the kate middleton, multiple witnesses identified a voice in the background of that of alex murdaugh. state prosecutors rested their rebuttal yesterday after calling six witnesses to the stand, including murdaugh's long-time friend and former law partner ronny crosby who testified for a second time. watch. >> you are not angry with alec murdaugh. >> i have had anger with him, extreme anger, mr. harpootlian

elise stefanik as chairperson, we find out the human cost of deciding to leave the border open. here's rebecca keys ling, she lost two sons to fentanyl and here is how her life has been affected. >> law enforcement made it clear to me that this fentanyl came from mexico. came from our southern border i didn't know what fentanyl was. i didn't know what narcan was. i didn't know that people were dying. i didn't know that my boys were taking anything that could kill them. they didn't think that they were either but the government knew. the government's known for years and years. you talk about you talk about children being taken away from their parents? my children were taken away from me this should not be politicized. this was not an overdose. this was murder. my children got fake percocets that were fentanyl. there was no percocet in it at all. this is a war.

act like it. do something. >> ainsley: her sons were 18 and 20 years old. they died in 2020. their names were caleb and kyler, it sounds like they took these drugs together they died at once together. >> brian: percocet is a pain pill. >> lawrence: second time i heard a story like this. i was telling ainsley i interviewed a mother in indiana who lost her sons 10 years apart to fentanyl. and it just shows you that the crisis getting even worse. even worse. it's one thing to have politicians and experts take the stand. it's another to have a grieving mother that lost two sons talk about it. and she is exactly right. i don't understand the democrats on this issue. it is something that you can rally. gives you the political cover you need to take a stance on it. it's not like these people are only dying in republican states. they are dying in democrat states as well. the fentanyl could hit their family members. a lot of these people don't know what they're taking.

they think they are getting xanax and it's fentanyl. it's just really sad. but, good for her for having the courage. that's a tough thing going to watch and speaking in front of legislators. i am honing it changes the tone of this debate. we hear a lot about the illegals coming across the border. they don't want to tell you that the same people that are helping the illegals come across the border are the same people bringing the fentanyl across the border. you can't separate the two. >> ainsley: here's the thing. this could happen to any of our children. they go to college. they are at a party. someone hands them some sort of a drug. even if they are a great kid they have never done a drug before, and all their friends are taking it. they say it's a pain killer or whatever. it's a ritalin. >> lawrence: calm them down. >> ainsley: take it and this happens. this woman had to bury two children. i mean, i don't even know how she is able to speak in front of congress but i applaud her for doing that because now she is saving other lives, hopefully. >> brian: also coming across the

i think it is probably a partisan debate now. >> well, it probably is. but it really shouldn't be. because of the beam who are on the hook to pay for this are also those who didn't go to college who went straight into the workforce or military or started a business and now they are on the hook for somebody else's gender studies degree. >> lawrence: looks like the average is going to be about $2,500 per u.s. taxpayer. that means the people that didn't go to college decided maybe to go to trade school or just wanted to start their own business. they are on the hook for this, too, right attorney general? >> that's right. and you know, many of them don't make a quarter of a million dollars that a married couple can make under biden's cancellation plan and still get $20,000 each in student debt cancellation. so, you know, it's really fundamentally unfair and unconstitutional. >> lawrence: yeah. what do you think the court is going to do on this matter? do you feel like they are going to rule in favor of the biden administration or the constitution here?

it made sense to look at some like-minded people and also for us in idaho, why not have that conversation. we have been the fastest growing state in the nation. we have a lot of people moving no look at the land mass, the resources, the water, the timber, the minerals, why not have that conversation. on top of it, we look at what is happening to eastern oregon, they do not share the same values as those who are passing and making these decisions. these decisions are completely untypically to a constitutional republic. it's really kind of disappointing. >> ainsley: do both states have to agree to this? >> yes. both states would have to agree to this. and then, if that happened, then it would go to congress and congress would then have to approve it. and many people say, you know, this is not possible. there's a lot that has to happen before -- for this to even be considered. i say i grant that this seems like a big wish list, without taking these steps and having

these conversations and oregon having their counties vote to move forward on this, it certainly wouldn't happen. but, you know, personally, i think it could happen. i like the idea. >> ainsley: i know you represent idaho. >> what do you love most about it. >> you know what? i was born and raised here. idaho, first off, it's a beautiful state. but i have had the opportunity to travel and live in many other places and i have always come back to idaho because -- because of the people. because of our values, we are traditional. we are traditional family. we are, you know, very independent do it yourself, not rely on the government. that's important to me. we need to get back to that being important to idaho also. >> ainsley: how do we make this happen. >> at this point we have been engaged in the last two years in conversations. as a matter of fact, two years ago myself i was a chair of a committee and with the senate. we invited oregon down to come and present to us. and right now we have actually

taken a resolution, joint memorial resolution through on the house side. it's passed. and so now we have now sent it to the senate side. we will see if not this year, it may be next year, you know, we have had a lot of positive response to this. and oregon is doing some of the same things. and i think you are seeing a picture right there. there's a lot of beautiful land. and, you know,. >> ainsley: looks gorgeous. >> it's gorgeous. the other thing that we have to keep in mind, the area that would be impacted, they are very much like minded people. very much like us here in idaho. and, you know, i would be thrilled to have them join us. >> ainsley: how would it affect the elections? this is a group of 13 counties, 11 or 13? what's correct? >> currently there have been 11 counties. >> ainsley: okay. >> that have passed resolutions to go ahead and continue talks with us. you know. when you look nationally and

through the years what you can do to what can you do to creating a state, moving a state. really only three ways to move. either create a new state. that's not going to happen unless you are washington, d.c., we know that. you could succeed from the union and we know how well that had gone about 150 years ago and really the most viable means of creating a change idaho would essentially benefit as far as it's not going to hurt our people at all. it's not going to cost us. another benefit for us here in idaho is, you know, our policies, our laws are very different. in oregon, you know, they believe in drugs at all levels and so right on our border, closer to boise, our major metropolitan area, we will see a lot of cars over on that other side in oregon purchasing drugs. and you know, one of the great
