75 witnesses, 800 photographs and exhibits but yet as you mentioned the jury needed less than three hours to reach its vertex. >> the state versus richard alexander murdaugh defendant indictment for murder guilty, guilty, indictment for possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime, guilty, guilty. >> reporter: alex murdaugh was immediately handcuffed and led from the court. no obvious signs of emotion on his face. as he contemplated the reality that the jury simply did not buy his excuses for the initially lying to the police about his whereabouts and movements on the night is why and youngest son were shot to death. murdaugh was portrayed as a serial liar by the prosecution who painstakingly went through murdaugh's long history of stealing millions of dollars from his law partners and from his clients and the attorney

said if marc spent so much of his life telling lies, the jury should conclude he was lying again now. and to emphasize that point, they showed a video on murdaugh face -- on which adam rutt voice could be heard contradicting his early claims to police by putting him at the scene of the murders just minutes before all and maggie murdaugh were shot to death. >> their voice was heard tonight and justice was brought for them. we can't bring them back but we can bring them justice. >> murdaugh's defense team said much of the case was a circumstance so that there was at minimum with both out and thanking the jury, the judge made clear he agreed with the guilty verdicts. >> all the evidence pointed to the only one conclusion. that is the conclusion that you all reach. >> reporter: the judge, the attorneys and alec murdaugh will be back in court at 9:30 eastern

it came out wrong. >> i thought this case was permeated to a reasonable doubt. i was not surprised they came out quickly but three hours guilty, guilty, guilty. i think those jurors could not get over that kennel video, the lie. >> trace: we have covered trials for years and years. it normally takes juries three hours to the pick a foreman. >> i think they made up their minds ahead of time, trace, and that kennel video. the defendant lied about being at the scene of the crime and when he tried to explain his life, he said it was because he was an addict. the jurors did not buy it. they made up their mind based upon that kennel video. >> trace: it was so pivotal. i want you to listen because there was testimony that said this was alec murdaugh and then alex murdaugh admitted. this really was the key to the case. >> get back. get back.

quit. quit. >> trace: even after him because testifying, you can tell that is his voice. you find the witnesses line, you can throw out all of his testimony. >> if you believe that the credibility is in question, if you believe the witness lied about one thing, then you can disregard all of his other testimony. >> trace: jonathan was playing the sound of the judge saying there was overwhelming evidence of guilt. >> that is unusual and it is not looking good for alex murdaugh because it looks like the judge is going to give him life. he made his views clear after the jury rendered a verdict. he said i think you guys came to the right verdict. i think there's overwhelming evidence of guilt. >> trace: he says are a liar. i'm a crook. i am a drug addict but i'm not a killer and the jury -- >> the jury did not believe it. i thought the defense did a good job in closing, appo pointing

multiple issues of reasonable doubt. but once a liar, always a liar as the prosecution argued and the jury bought it. >> trace: i'm wondering if there's anything you say here that could qualify on appeal. >> i see huge grounds for appeal. all of this evidence about financial crimes. that is prejudicial much more so than probative. i think the defense is going to appeal. i think that is a strong grounds for appeal because generally, trace, bad x don't come in. you can't introduce bad acts of the defendant to prove guilt. the judge instructed the jury today. you can use this evidence to prove guilt. it only goes to the motor. but once that cap space cat is out of the back, it is out of the bag. he is facing 99 other accounts. i think he might plead guilty. he testified under oath that he did all of this. so i think there will be a guilty plea. it is just not looking good for him. i see a strong and swift appeal allowing all of that evidence of

to voters but also his inability to avoid gaps and in this moment for whatever reason speaking off-the-cuff, the opportunity to fact-check representative marjorie taylor greene proved too much for the president and rather than talking about addiction with compassion and empathy, like he had just a few weeks ago during the state of the union, he came across as pretty callous. >> trace: it is interesting because i know that finger-pointing goes on and president biden loves to point fingers at president trump. the whole concept here is if you look at this and i will put these numbers up. this is last year. 12-month period ending august of 2022. 107,000 people plus overdosed in america, overdose deaths. a large portion of those are fentanyl. that is under this president. it is not a laughing matter at all and, you know, it is one of those things were, you think, on care whose watch it was. it is one of those things were

marc siegel. just like there is no way for duke to come out and say, i have -- i am positive that the vaccine and the booster may have given me this blood clot, there's no way for the navy to come and say, it is absolutely not because of the vaccine. is that a fair assessment? >> i do think that and i saw your segment last night and i thought it was a fair. i want to make a couple scientific points. you did an ad where there's actually a couple of isolated case reports, very rare that have shown blood clots few weeks after the mrna vaccines. it is not a sustained response. we have not seen it in studies and it has occurred a couple times and he talked about that hole in his heart. that can increase your chances of a blood clot fairly substantially. i think i understand the science even though i have not examined him. but here's the point. they -- all they should do is check him out and make sure he is okay now and then of course he can't serve. why are they keeping him out?

then suddenly, we have a rush of things like this and we have taken those have we taken our eye off the ball or what you think here? >> it is a combination of everything including i think pilot fatigue that plays a part of it also. a combination of everything. and one thing i'm really concerned about is social media, the use of cellular phones. it is prohibited during flight and when operating the aircraft the same thing in the control tower it is prohibited but i'm seeing a lot of stuff, pilots taking videos while sitting in the cockpit before they are doing their preflight checks and these are editing and everything going on. so is this a distraction? are they thinking about things like this? it definitely is a combination and fatigue with the pilot shortage, it is a factor and one thing i want to point out is not just pilots, unlike other where you don't commute an hour to work, some of these pilots are
