we have fox team coverage with matt finn on the ground in mission, texas along our southern border but let's begin with nate foy live in new york with more on the astronomical price tag. >> it is. according to city memo on taped by the new york post the city spends average r average $364 every single day of each migrant household and right now the city is housing 30,000 migrants. you do the math, works out to just under 13,000 households. many of the migrants live in humanitarian relief centers that the city not only paid for construction of but on the hook for daily care of migrants. according to post with the daily per diem with $364 per household. the city is spending nearly $5 million every single day on migrants and estimated $4.2 billion this fiscal year and next ending june 2024.
10:02 am
new york city council republican leader joe borelli tells fox the amount of aid coming from the state and federal governments is laughable. fema provided $8 million in december which is two days worth of cost. it's meant to be evenly divided between city, state and federal governments but so far the city claims it's not getting nearly enough. emergency management commissioner zac says the city is at its end of the resources and the city's current plan to care for migrants is more sustainable as more migrants continue to cross the southern border illegally. griff. griff: jacqui. jacqui: despite biden's administrations to slow encounters in the border encounters have surpassed a million since october. matt finn live in mission, texas

10:06 am
single year. and so they need a strategy, they need to tell the american people what they are going to do to stop the crisis but you don't see that from this administration. instead you see one-off comments like the president said it came in through the last administration. he has no idea that that's actually true or not. i think he's saying that to deflect some blame from his policies that are encouraging this type of fentanyl and these type of illegal narcotics coming over the border in droves that we have never seen before. it's important for folks to remember, the human crisis that's tied to the border and what's going on down there is enriching cartels like we have never seen before and they are able to put illegal proceeds back into their business and smuggle and traffic more fentanyl across the border every single day. the crisis on the border is tied to fentanyl crisis and they need to come up with a strategy. >> you put your finger on something there, chad, i think is very important and just for the record her sons died when

you were in office, when president trump was in charge but what we have seen when you look at the fentanyl amounts coming, it has only surged at unprecedented numbers and the border patrol chief put on social media late yesterday the weekly recap they have apprehended 299 pounds of fentanyl in just the last week and so while they say that as matt finn was reporting the encounter numbers are down right now in february, the amount of fentanyl continues to surge. so when that is clearly a pressing problem, do you believe that the administration is not doing enough specifically to tackle the cartels and to get the fentanyl under control? >> well, clearly, they are not doing enough. i think if you just look back at the trump administration you had president trump talking about
10:08 am
it, you had myself and others in the administration talking about the fentanyl crisis and things that we were doing every single day to try to stop that, whether it was looking at oversees china in the precursors or getting tough on the mexican government having them do more, deploy their national guard and do a variety of different things because it's not only controlling the human trafficking but it's also controlling that fentanyl. if you were to say to the american people what has this administration done to try to stop the fentanyl crisis or at least curtail it, i think they'd be hard prez -- pressed to giveu an idea over the course of two years and then the numbers are reducing. i think we had reporting in january and february, it's interesting to note, though, they are just moving those individuals through ports of entry. so the number of folks coming on ports of industry in cbp app has gone up 200% over the last year or so. and so the demand decreasing at all, they are moving people around and shifting the numbers around to try to make it look
10:09 am
like they have it under control and they clearly don't. >> in the last ten seconds, i want to ask you on cartels, is it time to label them as terrorist organizations? >> well, i think you can do that and you can do more. i think it's time to get serious about the cartels, they are public enemy number one. we need to treat them that way and the federal government needs to have response and we need the president to lay out what he is going to do to stop cartels from the human trafficking and human crisis. absolutely, all options should be on the table. >> former acting dhs secretary chad wolf, chad, thank you very much. jacqui. jacqui: all right, griff, republican presidential candidate and former u.s. ambassador to the un nikki haley is speaking at the club for growth in palm beach, florida. >> the democratic party is a socialist party. joe biden is a socialist president. we are living through an unprecedented of the welfare
