train. this was lifted after nobody was injured and no hazardous materials were on board at the time of the incident. >> there's no indication of any injuries. the risk to public health at this time is improved, from owner operator of the railroad, railway norfolk southern, clark county hazmat scene, ohio environmental protection agency independently examined the crash site and verified there was no evidence of spillage at the site. >> reporter: ohio's governor, mike dewine, says president biden and transportation secretary pete buttigieg called to offer help from the federal government. last night's derailment causing at least 1500 people in the area to temporarily lose power. no word yet on what caused the incident. will, rachel, pete. >> thank you, marianne. rachel: thank you, marianne. >> there have been several levels of criticism for the administration when it comes to train derailments. there's been 19 p train derailments since december of

2022. there's a ton of derailments in this country. the question is, how much is being exacerbated by incompetence at the highest levels of not just corporate america but governmental agencies like the depa departmef transportation led by pete buttigieg. not just competence, but em pa empathy. there was krist civil after pete buttigieg didn't show up in east palestine, ohio. buttigieg just commented to cnn. >> he said as for any suggestion from trump or supporters that the former president's trip to east palestine pressured him to go, that's bull you know what. buttigieg said. we were already going to go. you know, both the white house and buttigieg immediately called governor dewine in ohio after the most recent train he

derailment which thankfully as marianne said likely does not include toxic chemicals, like one of the many other derailments we have that don't dump toxic chemicals. they waited on the big one. that's why trump's renting space in his head and they're putting out a statements like this. they know they messed up. they're trying to play catchup. people judge leadership or competency by where you were when it mattered most. and they weren't there. rachel: and how it all went. buttigieg eventually did go to the town. who lifted the spirits of the people in the town more, donald trump or pete buttigieg? i think it's obvious from the video footage that pete buttigieg was met with some anger because it took him so long to get there and because it looked like he didn't care. and another area where our government is failing is on keeping an eye on our real enemy which is china who by the way looks at all of this incompetence in our government, is probably licking their chops. china just announced a bump in

taiwan territory. president biden said the u.s. will use force to defend taiwan if necessary. china getting a bipartisan support from u.s. lawmakers who broke down the taiwan l lease se and you addressed concerns about china possibly invading other countries in the region. >> how long are we going to keep up with the ccp's oppression. after taiwan, then what? south korea and japan? you see the korean government and japanese government, they are very nervous and we have to show that we are standing with them. >> it's going to reduce the red tape and it's going to increase the infrastructure to get our armaments there to support taiwan. you can call the policy whatever you want to call it. i believe we've got to be prepared to support taiwan if they're invaded by the ccp. >> two ukrainian pilots are in the united states for a training assessment on using attack aircraft including f-16 fighter

jets. u.s. authorities have approved bringing as many as 10 more ukrainian pilots in for assessment as early as this month. last month president biden said he is ruling out sending ukraine f-16 fighter jets for now, despite president zelenskyy's request. will, rachel, pete. rachel: thank you, brooke. >> brooke, what's your sense of how the government is viewing how we'll respond to taiwan vis-a-vis what's going down in ukraine. are they tying the two? >> speaking the biden administration officials, they say the president's stance with regard to china is strong and they say he wants to leverage his long-standing relationship with chinese president president xi but republicans on the hill are warning that president biden and xi may have this long he relationship dating back to the biden administration, but president xi is different than he was back then and china is in a totally different position than they were. they view themselves as much stronger than they did back then. >> all right, brooke. thank you so much. rachel: we're definitely weaker than we were before and i think

i was looking at some of the testimony from the border patrol and enough fentanyl has been seized at the u.s. border in just the last three months to kill over a billion people and that was the testimony of a top ranking border official. he admitted it in that border hearing that they had just a week and-a-half ago. it just indicates how incredibly dangerous this is and the origin of it coming over the border and through the ports of entry. rachel: coming from china. you know what's scary about this, you can go well, okay, we know tee teenagers can accidenty get poi so poisoned by it. you could be in a hotel room with a baby and if the people were doing it before, it takes a tiny amount. it's a frightening story you. maria: 2 milligrams can kill you. that's the size of an eraser on a pencil. that's how small the amount of fentanyl they that is so dangerous that can kill you. look, it's amazing to me that more is not being done from this

white house. i mean, you know, now suddenly the president mentioned it a couple times. he's not doing anything about it. what's the plan? >> maria, i'm sorry, you talk so much about financial markets. one of the ways we know to try to help this situation is to close the southern border but the other is all these precursor chemicals come from china and india. what can be done from an administration -- what should we expect from the administration to stop china from pouring those chemicals into mexico which come to us. mari t.maria: i think it's an important question. the first thing is toing a knowledge where the underlying chemicchemicals are coming from. we haven't seen that. we have seen the administration being so soft on china, whether about releasing this covid-19 that killed 7 million people across the world, whether it's covering up the release ppp and
