presidential race but first nate with the developments on ohio train derailment. it's happened again. >> yeah, it has. the good news is it does not appear it is a repeat of last month's toxic derailment in east palestine. they say that there is no evidence of any spillage after this most recent rack. at about 5:00 p.m. last night, roughly 20 boxcars toppled off the tracks near springfield ohio. 300 miles from east palestine. officials initially issued a shelter in place order for anyone within 1000 feet of the derailment. that order has since been lifted this morning. "no hazardous materials were involved or injuries reported. we are coordinating with local authorities on site. ohio senator not satisfied with that answer. listen to this. >> i am not entirely satisfied because i want to know, there is

example of america's crime crisis. a carjacking attempt that started right in the victim's own driveway. it was caught on camera, but the armed suspects did not get away with a houston man's jeep because of a mistake they made. the experiencing was harrowing as you can imagine in the victim is sharing his story. christina coleman is live with more on this. >> these thieves did not get away with anything. this victim does not want to be identified. the suspects followed him home from a gas station, held him at gunpoint and then demanded he handed over the keys to his jeep. the incident was caught on camera. take a look. >> usually when they say give me your key somebody gives them to them right away and they are gone. it did not happen that way so they were bamboozled. they truly did not know what to do.

>> this incident happened on january 25 in broad daylight just west of downtown houston. we say they release this video on friday. they hope that it can lead to an arrest. they did not get away with the jeep because one of them ran off with a backpack that the homeowner had in his front seat and that backpack had the car keys in it. [inaudible] >> what are you guys doing? what are you guys doing? so, that was a victim yelling at the suspects as they ran off with his car keys. one of the other suspects jumped in front of the suv, jumped into the car and tries to start the car but of course he can't because his little friend they ran off with the keys to the car in the homeowner got a good chuckle from it. they are the victim is chasing after the suspects. they end up dropping the backpack anyways.

so the victim recovered it. there you have it. these guys got away with nothing but police are still looking for them. they could not start the car. >> a little chuckle for sure, but that could have turned out completely horrible deadly way. quite frankly, watching that video makes me mad to see that happening. just by the body frame, it seems like those guys are not that old. could be teenagers. they put them out there to do the jobs because they know that they will not get charged as adults. i could go on about this. >> you raised a good point. it looks like they are teenagers. also, you have to be careful when you're driving home nowadays. somebody could be following you. there were people that were actually following me home and i just kept driving.

details. >> really scary situation. severe turbulence hits. it happened over new england. the ntsb tells fox news the plane was carrying three passengers into crew as it was in route to virginia. the business jet was rocked by a patch of unstable air and was forced to divert to bradley international airport in connecticut for an emergency landing. officials confirm it took severe turbulence over new england and resulted in fatal injuries to a passenger about the cause of death in the extent to the damage to the aircraft are still unclear. the ntsb said "investigators have removed the cockpit voice recorder and flight data recorder and are continuing to gather information from the flight crew operators and

passengers about the circumstances of the event." it comes days after seven passengers aboard a flight from austin texas to germany were hospitalized after the airbus 330 they were flying in ran into severe turbulence. the rough air set food and personal belongings flying all over the cabin. that scene and video shared by passengers aboard the flight after matthew mcconaughey and test flight were on the frightening flight. in an integral post she said she felt the plane dropped almost 4000 feet in altitude. the pilots eventually were forced to make an emergency landing near washington, d.c. in regards to the aircraft that was involved in that field turbulence, we have been in contact with the owners, owning the aircraft and they confirmed that the fatality aboard that flight was not one of the

i want to talk to the southern border of the six gop senators i went down there last week and. what was the discovery and take away of the visit to the southern border. >> they are still seen the largest surge of illegal migration on the southern border that we have seen in the history of that border. i am glad that this parole scheme that the administration cooked up is muting some of the numbers allowing agents to do the work that we hired them to do. save human traffickers, safe people in distress. the numbers are muted, but we are still seeing the largest surge ever. the take away is what can they do. how can they encourage their colleagues on the other side of the aisle to fix this in a more permanent way. helping resource the problem first. give the agency the tools they want to go back to policies that are saying it does not allow large numbers from the southwest border. they can be, they can push this

administration into reinstating the migrant protection protocols which was largely responsible for ending the last surge. >> why do you call it a scheme? it is working. >> it remains to be seen. they are offering parole. i am not sure on the legal side of that is a legal construct that will sustain scrutiny under the forest. it works in the sense that people have additional avenue. because of the way the asylum works now a lot of people are coming to the border claiming asylum many of which we know will never appear in court. will not follow on that proceeding. having a different avenue again it mutes the problem. it does not make it go away. >> okay. i'm not saying the problem has been solved but when there is progress made, we should acknowledge it. look at president biden's -- you know it, but let's share it with

the audience. automatically make them ineligible for asylum without first claiming asylum in another country which they have passed through. is this a good plan? >> that was the asylum that we had under the last administration. if you are in a safe third country, coming from where you are coming from you want to make it to the united states, but if you crossed through a safe third country or multiple countries, you should apply there. that works if they are no exceptions. if there is an enforcement mechanism. if it closes the loop and does not allow people into the united states to then be released for a later date in court. we have seen the numbers muted. i am hopeful that my former colleagues have an opportunity to do more of what we want them to do which is protect that border. >> yes. you may agree with me. it is all about semantics.

you cannot say keep people from these countries out. it just makes a bad situation worse. they are nowhere near the numbers down south. a legal crisis on trip crossings are rising on our northern border. ten times higher in one year. 1500 illegal crossings versus 160. 1500 versus 160 arrests a year earlier. the new york times is quoting one canadian resident living near the border saying that the united states does not care because this is nothing compared to what is happening on their southern border and claimed that there was no political will to fix this. do you agree with this? >> this is another symptom of not having the policy. we are seeing large numbers of people going into canada. i saw a news report last week that new york city is bossing

people to the northern border so they can enter canada legally like they do on our southern border. the problem is it is rural areas were not a lot of people live. extreme temperatures, it is very cold up there. people are not used to that climate. they are in danger. the same problem on the southern border. we have agents who we want to protect out border. doing those kinds of things to help control the border. out they are distracted by this other activity which large numbers of people were flying into canada and crossing illegally to get into the united states. a symptom of the policy which this administration has put forth. if you are here illegally you are not a target for enforcement. if you make it in the united states, you can evade border authorities. then you will get what you want which will be on the economy to live in the united states albeit illegally. >> we will have to invite eric

was probably 85% talking about equity, social justice, mass incarceration and so on. we have lost our way. law enforcement is exactly that. the enforcement of the law. we don't have the option to choose what laws we will enforce the politicians in the left movement has pushed us towards public perception, public relations, instead of public safety. we have to kind of draw the line in the sand. this is not working. people are dying while we are arguing about whether pulley should do this or that or the other thing. it is really simple. we should be enforcing the law. that is why it is called law enforcement. >> it is so sad and tragic. this overwhelmingly, sadly, affects the minority community.

>> in chicago, about 85% of the victims of violent crime are african-american. think about how we are disproportionately enforcing standards against minority communities. where that crime is happening, it is minorities, black on black crime. hispanic on hispanic crime. you know, we do not have a choice. we do not do enforcement based on democratic data. we do it based on crime traits. if you look at the most violent neighborhoods in chicago, those are communities north of 90% african-american. it is the victims that we need to start to focus on. not the offenders who their demographics, actually, irrelevant when it comes to crime. when it comes to other things

like social justice and economic development, all of those things need to happen, but in the short-term, none of those things can happen if we don't first provide for the public safety. >> let me just finally show you the tale of two cities. chicago's crime statistics compared to new york. up 50 something percent. everything is out. motor vehicle theft 143%. let's look at last month in new york. crime is down in new york city. burglary down. in new york, eric adams former police officer seems to be getting it. some democratic legislators are actually increasing penalties. first year felony from one year now to democratic legislators increasing it to four years. you think they are finally getting the message and can that message get through to go after the criminals? punish the lawmakers and not give them a break.

>> first of all, as you know, i came out of new york city. i was there at that great turnaround. proud to report that i had a little bit of influence. at the end of the day we do think crime is not just about the police. if the prosecutors do not put them away, they are not laws on the books to put them away, if no one is held accountable for crime, we are holding the police accountable for everything. a breakup of the family unit, social justice and so on and so forth. we have to take a deep breath. come up with the system. everybody has the same focus. we have to do it constitutionally. we have to do it fairly. when they violate policy they need to be disciplined or trained. we don't throw out the baby and say we will stop doing law enforcement because this is what happens.
